[Q] Still no Jelly Bean Update - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus on the TMobile network, and to this day I still haven't received the Jelly Bean update. I tried to call google a couple of times, and received no help. Any suggestions or ideas as to how I can get the update without having to root the phone?

(i haven't rooted the phone and i dont want to) is there some kind of problem? should i wait? should i install it manually? what should i do?
i would bet you are not on the yakju version of the software.
use this to get to that version if you want the OTA for JB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895

Rooting and Unlocking 4.1.1

I just got a Verizon Galaxy Nexus and got the update for 4.1.1. I am wondering if someone can point me to a good rooting and unlocking thread. All I've seen is stuff for older builds, so I'm wondering what will work the best for the new update. Thanks.

Can't unroot VZW Galaxy Nexus
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus which I rooted in order to install Jelly Bean. But now I'm having some serious issues with it.
It will randomly shut off and every time I plug in the USB cable, it dies and won't boot until it's unplugged.
How can I get back to stock without plugging it in?
Alright thanks. Also I see a lot of jelly bean roms but is there any built off the OTA update that came out?

[Q] Can I update my Verizon Nexus to Jelly Bean if Rooted?

I have seen that the official Jelly Bean update has come out from Verizon for the Galaxy Nexus, but my phone doesn't see it.
My phone is rooted but has no custom ROMs installed. Is anyone else having this issue or are you able to update? I'm just trying to figure out why my phone doesn't see the update. I go through Settings/About Phone/System Updates and it says that 4.0.4 is up to date with no other updates.
Do i have to un-root the phone to get the official update?
Thanks
Try dialing *#*#checkin#*#*
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
no, you dont need to unroot to ota.

Thanks for the info. I tried the 'checkin' but the update still didn't appear. Guess I'll just have to give it another day or so before I resort to calling Verizon (the horror!) and complain to them about it.

No the status of your phone being rooted or not will not change whether you're notified of the OTA. It will always notify you. If you're rooted and kept a custom recovery, the OTA will not be able to automatically install. Also, if you've changed or removed any files in the /system/ folder, the OTA will likely fail. If you've changed your radio the OTA will not apply either.

Have a read of the first and second posts in this stickied thread. It will show you how to install the update yourself, and any prerequisites.

[Q] Received OTA update eventhough i'm on a custom jelly bean rom. so confused

i have a GSM Galaxy Nexus and i'm rooted running the Thunderstick soft and chewy 4.1.1 rom. much to my surprise today my phone received an over the air update asking me to install 4.1.2 ; first of all, i didn't know a non stock custom rom could receive an ota update and i've been rooted on custom roms now since the beginning of ics and my phone has NEVER once ever before received an ota. especially now given that i'm already on a 4.1.1 and i got an ota update asking me to go to 4.1.2; so pretty surprised to put it mildly.
secondly i have GNofficial update app which tells me that my phone is either updated by google or not updated by google which i've found to be depending on what rom i'm using and currently my thunderstick rom makes it say i'm not updated by google. even if i wasn't rooted i never thought i would be updated by google anyway since i'm in canada not the united states and on some little ****ty carrier called Mobilicity. the last thing i ever expected was to receive an ota update. who sent it? Mobilicity? Google? i don't even have a clue where exactly this ota update is coming from. am i to believe that my galaxy nexus which came with android 4.0.1 originally out of the box and has never once before ever received an ota update would suddenly send me 4.1.2? so to re-cap that means if i had never rooted i would still have been at 4.0.1 and suddenly be getting 4.1.2 and in Canada and on Mobilicity of all things. so i'm super confused but that's not even my real question.
what i'd like to know is what will this update do to me? will it bring me from this beautiful exquisite custom thunderstick soft and chewy 4.1.1 to the STOCK 4.1.2??? and unroot me? it wont stop pestering me about it either, it just keeps prompting me do go for it! i checked on rom manager and there isn't a thunderstick 4.1.2 yet. mostly i'm very confused at even receiving it and that it keeps prompting me as if i have to do it or it wont go away. i could just imagine me doing it and then it sucking cause it's stock and not like thunderstick's soft and chewy which i've fallen in love with and then me going to the trouble of re-rooting and re-flashing thunderstick and then probably receiving the damn OTA all over again! has anyone else had this happen? why am i receiving a stock ota update when i'm already not even running stock?
is there a way i can make it stop asking me to install the ota update? can i make it stop appearing in the notification?

Galaxy nexus 4.1.1 to 4.2

I bought the Samsung galaxy nexus around one and a half month back. I immediately got a notification to upgrade my software to 4.1.1. And i had the jellybean update in no time. Please note that I have the Samsung "yakjuxw" firmware. Now after the release of the 4.2 update, i have been checking regularly for the OTA update, without luck so far. I was wondering if I should wait for some weeks, or convert my firmware to yakju?
I have read some forums , and they all are for devices with 4.0 yakjuxw devices. Hence i was wondering if converting it now (since im already on JB) would cause any issues.....
get the factory image zip from the dev section and flash it in cwm.. there wont be any issues
