My Original Kindle Fire is almost full and I don't know why?
No Pictures and only a few really small compressed movies only totaling a little more than 2 gigs... I have installed JandyCane and then now I'm on CM10 SG7 and after every successful install I delete old roms as to take up less space... But my kindle says less than 400MB left! Where is my space?!
/sdcard/Android/data...perhaps?
What normally is in that folder?
Perhaps twrp backups are taking a large portion of space. I keep 2 the rest I move to my computer if I want to save them. That leaves me with about 1 gig of free space.
If you have Google Currents installed, that takes up a ton of space. You could delete the app data from that and uninstall it to save space.

Install DiskUsage from the play store and you'll get a graphic representation of what's using space.
1) Do you have dualboot configured
2) Have you tried looking around with ES File Explorer

Nice! Thank you! Disk Usage worked great. Turns out I had a huge backup from TWRP of almost 900MB and my movies were a really big chunk of space of actually over 3 gigs... These Kindles really don't allow for much storage .... Oh well deleted most of the movies and freed up a lot of space.
Thanks all!
Also check lost.dir, it can fill up with rather large file pieces that can simply be deleted.

Hello guys,
I was wondering if anyone has used app2sd or any others to convert your apps in your internal to external memory
when i tried using app2sd it will put it on my external yes but as soon as i run an application like a game it will re download it and put it onto my internal. Anyone else having this issue?
there is another solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2109112
This solution works to swap internal with external but for 64G SD cards people are having issues so I am re framing from doing this method.
don't bother with this; there is so much room in your internal memory, that its a waste of time and effort..you will never fill up your internal app space.
I have 300 apps installed, and still have almost 7 gigs free...
Hi try the rom toolbox from play store to install app on sd card.

That's not entirely true. Some people play various games which seemingly chew through storage space for all the media bits and pieces. Look through some of the directory bind threads for examples.

I totally agree. With my 16gb GN2 I find myself low on internal storage all the time. Yes you can install literally 100's of smaller apps but games such as NFS: Most Wanted, Nova 3, Spider Man and many others nearing 2 gigs each or more, it's hard to have more than a few games installed before having to un install just to try out a new game that you're interested in. If you find a good work-around let me know. I've found that App Mgr III doesn't work with our devices (and many others) and my ROM Toolbox Pro only gives you the option to install all apps to either your internal or external without the option to pick and choose which goes where on an app to app basis.

I use Directory Bind myself with my 64bg card.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
I like this program because you select which apps you want to move to the sd card. It takes more work to use but once you get it setup it works flawlessly so far. I have like 25gb of games installed on my phone

So you need to select each app separately then? Is there no way to do a batch select at all?
I'll read up on it more.
There is no way to do a batch selection. If you wanted you could select the folder before the game and that would be like doing it via a batch selection.
For example:
Let's say Shadowgun was saved in Android/Data/com.shadowgun/ (again this is not the exact location)
Instead of binding that location you could bind Android/Data/ instead. If you do that you will capture EVERYTHING in that directory now and anything that gets installed there in the future.
The downside of doing it that way is if an app wants to install into that location it will always force it to the sd card which is slower than internal memory. So Games like Asphalt 7 and Nova 3 take longer to load on sd card. So that is why I did one directory (game) at a time so I can choose which games are on the sd while others are on the internal. All games worked though via directory bind that I have tried.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, so perhaps this method is not the best scenario for me as I am looking to have all my Apps and data plus music, videos etc out of internal storage on to sd card. Using this method if you update an app I assume it would go to internal and you would need t do the process for that app over again?
I guess I am wanting a seamless way of just swapping internal-external. The script I am using seems to work very well but I am concerned when I go to a 64GB card. I'll keep watching the posts in the _ext2sdcardnote2internal thread.

Actually when you do app updates it updates the info on the extsdcard and not internal.
So what happens is the software tricks the Os into thinking the data is on the internal card when it really is on the ext card. So everything happens automatically. You do not need to move the info every time there is an update.
I would suggest doing a small app and playing with it before you jump in all the way. Use Deadtrigger for an example, it won't take to long to transfer the data.

Thanks again. I am keeping an eye on the extsdcard2internalsdnote2 thread as well re: 64GB cards. The App2SDnote2 script I am using works well with 32gb card but unsure about 64gb card.
Hopefully ill be explaining myself correclty.
My Note's internal storage space is full. Ive gone into the storage space bit and i can see a big grey bar (about 80% of the space taken) which says 516 meg available.....
Obviously i reflash and change software from time to time and my guess is the reason its full is from residual software from older builds thats hanging around - how do i clear out??
Thanks to anyone that has a stab at it
Comfy
For that I use SD Maid, in the app there is an option called Corpse Finder that deletes un useful files from the system.

There wouldn't be so called residual apps if you had done a full wipe prior to flashing a new ROM. I can only recommend you do exactly that and then reflash your ROM.

I have tried to move apps to external card. All I get is The device does not have a real primary external storage,
or the primary external storage is emulated.
Moving app to sd function cannot be supported by this device.
Rom Tool box says the same thing, moving to external not possible on this device.
My internal memory is approx 9GB free my external is approx 18GB free.
It also says system rom: 2.21 GB (297 MB free)
Internal and media: 11.8 GB (9.91 GB free)
I have just uninstall-ed around 20 apps, so I can now update the installed apps without problems.
Now I am going to re-install to see how far I get before it tells me "not enough space".
I have nearly triple the amount of apps on my galaxy S3 and never run out of space.
I just wanted to add. No problems with my 64GB SD card. I have 4500 music tracks on it as well as 4 movies and approx 2000 photos. All work without a hitch.

Currently I have available 1.4gb out of 5.7gb, according to the Total commander app and I am trying to free up more space.
The only app that occupies a lot of space is Kodi, although I do empty regularly big folders like the thumbnails folder. In total is like 600mb.
Also, I had a look through the total commander and couldn't find any other big folders.
So what keeps so much space and how can I discover it?

If you have already installed Kodi on your Fire Stick and want to try a new version, please consider a new installation first.
A Fire TV Stick is not very powerful, so you should use lightweight builds that won't reduce its performance. Keeping all these elements in mind, here are some builds: Wookie Lite, Horus, Fire TV Guru, Wullies Mini
I haven't mentioned anything about low performance.
I just want to increase my available space.

So be it, but Wookie Lite is only 204 MB of space occupied on your Fire Stick. Horus less than 100 MB. Wullies Mini only 142 MB. Aqua is also a fairly light build. Fire TV Guru seems to be studying...

What bloatware do u mean?

No need for root. Check this guide
I have my Galaxy Note 10 + for 11 months now, with 256 gb internal storage and 128 GB SD card and a few months ago I was notified that my internal storage space was almost full. It was very difficult for me to believe this, as I do not have nearly enough pictures to be taking that up (pictures and videos are routinely uploaded to Google Drive and are stored on external SD card), and all of my music is loaded onto an SD card.
I have cleaned recycle bin but something is getting piled up day by day reducing main storage of the phone base memory. When actually measured the folders account only 60 gb in base memory but there is very less free memory.
Looking at the storage analysis, the problem seems to come from a large amount of space being taken up in the "other" category, but I cannot figure out what is categorized under "other" or why it is filling. How do I identify these files and delete them if unwanted?
SD Maid Pro works great for me. I can confirm that it can delete files. Just did some storage management yesterday.

Good app...
The original samsung Device Care that was loaded with Pie cleans very well.
Don't update it... the new sanitized version sucks.
I put the phone in airplane mode when using it and keep it package block it otherwise. It's probably chinese spyware but works well if gagged, lol.

Check browser caches/data etc.
Go down the line with all apps including system ones. Google is a hog. See who'd hogging the beef....
I use SD Maid Pro to clean, it does a good job.
Just about time to do a reload anyway. Be picky about the apps you put on the new load.

Use the file manager and sort by size, what's on top?
You need to manually hunt for it. Check app data especially Google's. SD Maid doesn't delete app data.
Get the Windows driver for it and view the Android on the PC. Play with it. Off load some of the files and watch how it behaves. Does internal memory unexpectedly keep being used up?
You can try clearing the system cache on the boot menu but I don't think it will help. Never hurts.
That copy sounds like it's getting old... maybe reload time anyway.
