Hello xda forum!
I want to install a rom, but before I need to flash a kernel via fastboot, but thats my problem I can´t flash it because i can´t put my device into fastboot mode because its career locked so my bootloader is locked too. So i want to know if i can flash the boot.img (kernel) file with another method instead of the fastboot mode.
thanx!!
That's Impossible. You need to unlock bootloader before do this.

Hi everyone.
Have this problem been solved yet?
My Desire Z is unlocked with htcdev. Has CWM recovery. Everytime when I install another rom I have to go to fastboot and run command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" to flash with current rom's kernel. It is not only annoying but very buggy too.
this will continue to plague you untill you remove the unlocked bootloader and root your phone the proper way, ie follow the xda or cyanogen wiki

I am stuck....can not install the original recovery....can not run RUU....says not the correct rom update utility...
tried to reunlock bootloader and that fails now with:
has anyone a clue on how to proceed.
Thanks
You need to fastboot stock recovery then run ruu

you unlock again then flash stock recovery, then relock, then RUU
not with fastboot oem unlock
but with fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
as you first did when you unlocked
So, here is my question:
If I want to upgrade my Hboot, I need to flash stock (ICS) RUU first and then flash new firmware. I did this when I upgraded to 1.23. But now when I need to upgrade to 1.28 It says "relocked" and below "security warning". Only thing that helped me before was flashing stock RUU (ICS). But now I can not flash ICS RUU. Is there anything I can do except waiting stock JB stock RUU? Like, will it help if I flash stock recovery? Will it remove "security warnig" and boot into costum ROM?
I don't know how clear I explained my problem but I hope you get it
Thanks in advance!
First lock your bootloader , then In fastboot type fastboot oem rebootRUU, that will put you in ruu mode. Then flash the new firmware. Then fastboot reboot-bootloader, then unlock your bootloader again

I have been searching all day but didn't find anything. I guess you didn't even read what I wrote. So please stop complaining, if there was somewhere the post that would help me, well, I couldn't find it. So get over it, that sometimes people post a new thread that has already been posted, this is a huge web site and sometimes it's not easy to find what exactly you need.
Thanks

thank you for your answer, and for not suing me for my post. I'll give it a try, I hope it will work
this is the guide man, it was in the first post.... you have to follow this guide to update your HBOOT, no need to flash a RUU....
this guide is taken from Shnizlon:
1. Download the ROM and place it on your virtual SD card.
2. Relock your bootloader via HTCDev.
3. Go into fastboot mode and type 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'.
4. Flash new firmware using this commend: 'fastboot flash zip PJ46IMG.zip' or using Y cable.
4a.On first time running the commend you will see FAILED, don't panic and just run the commend again.
5. Reunlock your bootloader via HTCDev.
6. Flash custom recovery using this commend: 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'.
7. Download boot.img and flash it using this commend: ‘fastboot flash boot boot.img’.
8. Use 'fastboot erase cache' to avoid boot issues.
9. Go into recovery and install the ROM.
10. Reboot your device and enjoy from JB!
lock bootloader

you have to relock it to flash the firmware package... you have to put the boot.img in your pc and flash it in the command prompt... no you can't flash JB without upgrading the firmware...if you do not understand or if you are not ale to do it then you aren't ready to this type of thing and you would better stay were you are

Actually you probably didn't flash the kernel from recovery but the modules ! It's impossible to flash a kernel from recovery because we are (most of us) still s-on

I unlocked my bootloader using Omnius but when I FASTBOOT flash a kernel I get stuck in a boot loop. I can flash back to stock kernels fine and access cwm. Am I missing a step? I have followed a lot of guides but most seem a bit out of date. How can I check that my boot loader is defiantly unlocked? Also, in-case I am being to impatient is it normal to wait 30 minutes for the first boot?
If you use flash tool for enter in fastboot?
Fastboot flash boot boot.img, check you're doing it correctly.

If you don't know, what you are doing, you shouldn't be doing it at all.
Sent from LT18i with custom firmware by myself.
Just use the common way, like flashtool...
Oh and if custom kernel gets flashed without errors, then your bootloader is unlocked. If bootloader would be locked, kernel flashing would give an error.
