Is it posssible to remove this from the system? When I downgrade my kernel to root I get the keypad has stopped message continuously every 10 seconds. I use swype so I do not need it and I looked everywhere to remove it and cannot find it.
Thanks
The keyboard app is found in system/app then look for app called textinput-tng.apk.
Delete this and keyboard is gone.
I would suggest you backup the app before deleting incase.
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Hey, I have looked at the ''junk app thread'' but I did not see any google apps on there. Does that mean they are not safe to remove? I do not use any of the google app's and they are clogging up my app tray, can I remove them without them having an affect on the market or youtube? Thanks in advance
Safest answer? DON'T! Most google apps and processes are inter linked, so messing with one app can cause force closes on another. worse still you may no be able to make calls or send texts.

Hi,
Looked around but I didn't see a post on this. Is there a way to disable the screen capture feature? I am tired of taking images of my screen and having the home button capturing images of my screen. If any one knows that would be great.

you need root, but if you're on XDA ''developers'' , I suggest you already have...
otherwise use the universal root.zip at the dev section of the gio..
then install an app like titanium backup..
freezing is disabling the app, but not removing it.
removing does remove the app ofcourse
I have titanium backup installed already but I don't see a file called screencapture... My filters are set to "ALL" so I should be able to see everything. Is there another file I should be looking for?
it really is called screencaptureservice.apk , use a file browser and go to system/app , maybe titanium can't find all .apk's
I found it in /system/app using Root Explorer but how to I go about freezing it do I just back it up and the remove it??
Move it to your sd card, somewhere..

"com.sec.android.app.screencapture" - freeze this one on Titanium Backup.
Hey guys I can't seen to find where these two apps are installed so I can delete them.
Anyone can point me in the right direction? Thanks

They are all in /system/apps. Use any file explorer app that has root access and remove them. Titanium backup does this too..

I deleted all the stock apps that I didn't want from system/app but those two I couldn't find in there. Any particular name that they go by other than the obvious name?

That, I don't know. I use titanium backup to delete because it has them listed as you would see them in the drawer. Plus, with its icon to make it easy to recognize.

In case you didnt figure this out - the name of the app is LiveSource.apk /system/app/LiveSource.apk (411 & More) and Name ID is "ECID" something
I've looked up how to replace system apps and read multiple guides, but I haven't found what I'm looking for specifically. I want to remove the stock Google apps and replace them with alternatives. For example, I want quickpic instead of the gallery.
I've rooted my phone making it writable. I've flashed my phone enough times to know I need to read. I'm currently running Reloaded .500 RLS.
I've moved the quickpic apk to /system/app and changed the permissions and then I moved the gallery to /data/app and uninstalled it, but when I reboot the app is installed but force closes upon opening. What should I do? Also, should I change the name of the apk to the system app for association purposes because I want the replacement apps to be associated with the functions off the Google apps. Like when in messages when I click on "attach" I want to be able to click "picture from camera" which I can't right now even though I renamed the replacement app Camera.apk. Definitely need some help. Tia!

Get Titanium Backup from the market, uninstall the system apps and install your apps choosing "integrate into rom" or something similar

After rooting the optimus g pro, which apps can we safely freeze or remove?
I froze all AT&T apps and LG device help, no issues should really appear if you just freeze. If you installed a recovery through FreeGee, you can disable the LG security and delete what ever you want.

What you should do is go to apps under lg settings and click on each specific app and click the disable button. that will disable them from working and should stop them from showing up on your phone. If they persist on showing up you should use nova launcher, or action launcher and use the launchers "hidden apps" feature to hide the applications you don't want to see in the app drawer.
I took mine a step further and searched the entire file system and deleted every single bloat app I could find.
To fully get rid of the att apps...go to the root of the file system and go to vendor>apps and have a hayday and delete all those apps. Then you can also delete anything from system/apps. There's a lot of Crap in there that can be deleted too.
