How can one do this? I don't see a way to root the AT & T version yet, but one can't get rid of these apps otherwise
EDIT: Sorry posted in the wrong forum. Can someone delete this

Is there a guide on how to do it? Can you use a mac? Or is it done directly on the phone?
You can do either way...I just use Root Explorer app and delete things I don't need...I have done it many times and know which ones I can't delete So, if this is your first time, you may want to just rename them so they don't run...let me find the link...it was here somewhere
Here ya go.
By the way, the [Q] means question, this belonged in the Q&A thread.

Thanks...and...oops.... if an admin can move it.... oops...
I like to use Titanium Backup. That way I uninstall and if I ever need those items back on I can reinstall.
I agree titanium backup is good way to go. it allows you to remove city id and stuff like that + it backs up your apps with market links.
Okay there is a thread about disabling stock apps
here is that thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809231
I don't understand it, on my phone I downloaded Root Uninstaller straight from market, than I just used to to delete my stock applications and even if I reboot my phone, they stay deleted.
So whats the point of that thread? I don't even have my browser .apk because I use dolphin.
I am guessing you are s-off. I am also making the assumption that you weren't around when the g2 first came out. Previously, the NAND was locked so that it wouldn't let you delete anything. When we finaly had full root, disabling apps became redundant.
Also, please do not post question in the development thread.

I figured I shouldn't, I only put it here because of the thread I was referencing.
Your correct, I hadn't been around for the prelude of full root.
Sorry about that.
Yeah what he said lol
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
interesting that you mention that. i just used those commands to disable the stock apps, and it doesn't seem to work(i have the wifi ota update).
maybe i'll go about this method
Previously posted here but went unnoticed (with so many posts I didn't expect anyone to check regularly). I'm really sorry about this guys I know how much you hate people asking stupid questions but I really cant find the answer to this.
Hey everyone, hope someone can help me out, I've spent hours researching but this is one of those problems where I can't seem to find anyone with the same problem; basically I installed wallet using the old ZIP method, after removing it I found out I had to change files to be able to install the new APK method so I followed those instructions on this thread however I am not getting a weird error saying
"Hardware Not Supported"
"Sorry, this device is not yet supported. We are working too add support. Please check Market later for Updates."
Is anyone else having this problem or am I the only one?

EDIT: Just realized I posted this in the wrong place. Can Mod's move or delete this and I'll create another one in Q&A?
Should I just used the Zip method again, the main reason I wanted to switch is that I'm not sure if that method received updates.
I don't know if this helps however the VERY few (around 2-3 incidents) where I have seen this happen to other Gnex user's all had the LTE version however mine is GSM
Hey all, I am very new to this forum and to my recently acquired (possibly poorly rooted) Evo 4G. Is anyone still out there playing with this phone? I decided to get away from my unrooted Evo Design and move over to my boyfriend's old Evo 4G that he doesn't use anymore. He rooted it and it doesn't seem like I can find any info or working links anymore to fix it up. All I know is the Superuser app always force closes and I can't use any apps that are made for rooted phones as they need root privileges which they can't get because Superuser isn't working correctly. Anyway, I'll wait to go into more detail till I can find someone that still messes around with this phone. Thanks in advance!

Just flash the latest Superuser zip in recovery.
There are plenty of people using this phone because these phones are still being sold, believe it or not.
Download the latest version of SuperSU from the link below:

I suggest reading the sticky threads both in this forum and the general forum for more info, as well.
Hello,
I posted a question this in another thread but it got buried so I thought I would giving it its own thread.
After a successful root, I'm trying to get link2sd working with my M8S but I seem to be hitting a wall with it. It fails to mount at boot, and even when a quick reboot fixes that problem, it fails again when I try to install apps to the external sd.
I presume this is mostly to dow ith not being able to S-Off, would this be correct?
If so, are there any other ways to get around this? I see someone mentioning on another thread that you need to disable System Write Protection, but I can't find a guide to doing this relating to the M8S.
Thanks for any help and advice!
I hate bumping a thread guys, but I'd really appreciate any help or insights.
