Hey guys,
I've been having issues with the Widgetlocker lockscreen recently, and was wondering if any of this will ring a bell with someone.
I recently flashed the KJ2 2.3.5 ROM (the XEU non-wipe Frankenstein one), and i've also flashed CF-Root and then the Speedmod kernel. I'm in the UK, on O2 (debranded to XEU) and i have no issues with the phone whatsoever. I even get great battery life. It's just this damn widgetlocker issue that's grating on me!
For some reason when i wake the phone up and try to unlock it by using the slider (i just use the default 'Android' one for unlocking - the only other things i have are a couple of widgets for missed calls & texts and a battery % one) a lot of the time the slider does not repond to touch. It doesn't always happen, but maybe a good one out of every three times it happens. And the weird part is, if i then just wait about 5 seconds, then it suddenly responds and i can unlock the phone. Obviously having another 5 seconds on top of the already present lag when pressing the home button is not good, and because of this i'm thinking of not using WL anymore.
I've been through all of the settings, i'm almost 100% sure it's not something in there. Can anyone help with this?
Cheers guys.
Happens with me too sometimes. Another issue is if you keep pressing Menu button 4-5 times the phone gets unlocked and takes you to the home screen.
Hey, just wanted to post that i finally figured out what the problem was.
I'm using an .apk to help with the touchscreen sensitivity. See vitalij's thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18999801#post18999801
Well it turns out on 2.3.5 vitalij's .apk has some issues with the most up-to-date superuser. The solution, so far, isn't great but gets the job done, is to uninstall the .apk, and then re-install. The important part is not to click on 'enable service' in the app! So basically each time you want to use the app you have to open it and hit 'apply' on whatever setting you need. The setting will work until you next turn the screen off. For me this workaround is actually ok, as the only time i ever really used it was for the odd game, so i'm happy to just do it manually on these occassions.
disable root helper
madrano, can you expand on what you mean by this? i have tried enabling & disabling root helper but if i remember correctly the problem was still there.
I recently got HTC one x in UK and it was fine so far now I started receiving Loading screen often. After seeing various forums I removed the calendar widgets with the hope of not getting he loading screen again but no luck. Any one had this problem or any suggestions?

Hi,
Not sure if you still have this problem, but I solved my friend's X by backup and factory reset. after restart, tested opening apps then home button, no more Loading..., then restored.
Hope this helps.
Thanks dansoh, Same I did and it started working fine but my worry is why the new phone needed such factory restore?
I already did a factory reset on mine and it still happens. I think when the phone runs out of ram, it may have randomly closed the home screen and so it needs to "load" again.
This sometimes happens with my galaxy nexus as well.
I had my homescreen always reloading again to.
Found out it had something to do with the setting: Options\Developer options, and there the 3rd option from below, don't save activities (not sure how it is displayed in the English version).
It should not be selected, otherwise it reloads the homescreen everytime.
I see that option. By the sound of it, i think it disables multi tasking?

i got the same problem too and it was yesterday it started as there was a new software update and i accepted and ever since, when i hit the home icon on the phone it says loading every time.. i followed all the tips of putting everything to 4 processors and turning off activity in the background and no luck.. i have noticed that when i go onto the task manager i have constantly over 641mb running even when i stop all and refresh.. where as before i updated it it was around the 300mb ... can i get the old version instead of 4.0.4 ? or is there another way ? thanks
This is the second time i have to factory reset my phone because of this problem...
This error keeps popping up over and over and over even if i send the error report over.
The first time, i was playing a game called Death Rally and received a call while playing, after i hung up, the phone screen got locked and upon pressing the power button, i did not see the unlock screen (it is a default HTC unlock screen called Productivity).
Second time, i rebooted the phone while listening to songs using Poweramp. After the phone booted, the lock screen was missing.
on both occasions, i was able to access Settings from notifications bar, and when i did get there, the popup (in the third image below) started appearing repeatedly. I sent the error report to htc a couple of times just to stop it from popping up but no luck.
I searched online and have not come across any workarounds for this except a factory reset, which is the solution i resent because i have to download my apps / restore contacts all over again.
Hope HTC fixes this...
Anyone else have encountered this problem? if so, any suggestions on a non-reset solution?
Thanks

Same problem on One S
This exact same problem just happened to me, on my HTC One S though, after receiving an update. It started immediately after reboot. I can stop by going to Settings -> Apps and disabling the wallpaper "app". This doesn't feel like a proper solution, but it seems to work for now - maybe it can work untill a fix is released.
Yeah, i tried that last time this happened to me, i disabled everything that said 'wallpaper' in the apps. But that did not solve the problem. Its good that it fixed (even if temporarily) for you
Now that i have reset my phone for the second time, i have become extremely careful, but i still don't know what will cause this, and at what point

Having the same issue here. Running stock 4.0.3, Rogers HTC One X. Doing a factory reset will fix it for awhile but the error just comes back.
I had same problem with EVO 3D, after update to 4.0.3. I tried to reset my phone to factory settings, but error was just delayed for few hours, when it started to appear again. The problem was in application called "weather provider". After disabling that app problem was solved. Try that solution.
I installed after that APEX louncher, and other aftermarket widgets for everyday using. I just don't like htc sense, but i really like their phones.
My wife's phone (HTC one X) had the same message come up today too!
Any ideas anyone on what the permanent fix for this is?
I understand that the factory reset my solve for a while, but there must be an underlying issue here.....
hi
i have the same issue with the phone and some times it keep restarting i dont know how to fix
Wallpaper / Productivity has stopped unexpectedly
The message 'Wallpaper has stopped unexpectedly' kept popping up every few seconds on my HTC Sensation XE but it was directly after I'd moved Skype to the strip at the bottom of the screen. Once I removed it, it was fine.
this worked!
Disabling the weather provider finally worked for me! Thank u so much! That pop up msg. every 2 seconds was annoying. And, trying to maneuver my way to home screen through the pull down panel using the settings. It's terrible that cell phone companies make us do factory resets and force us customers to come up with solutions to fix their problems. My phone has served me well many yrs. despite the battery dieing every hour and 3 factory resets, and constantly turning off the screen and then back on again, and all the sporadic screen clicks by itself, dialing numbers and texting people! I'm finally getting a new phone tomorrow, but at least I didn't lose my information this time. Thank you!

I am using a HTC One M8 (ATT model, Best Buy edition)
There are no threads about this issue that I haven't checked: my phone seems to be acting not only sluggish, but some other weird things seem to be happening.
- Google Play Store seems to be taking forever to start to download, downloads fine, takes forever to start to install, and about 20 minutes later (if the app hasnt been killed off by then since I have only 1 app in the background, to see if that fixed my lag issues before switching to just 1 app in background) it finally installs.
- Quickpic doesnt seem to want to load anything at all (I use it as my main app to view pictures since HTC Gallery cant view animations in a loop). It just sits there at a black screen with a loading circle at the top, no thumbnails or folders show up. I have cleared the phone's cache with
- Rebooting does nothing to solve my issues.
- Restoring to factory default does nothing to solve my issues.
- Restricting background processes to 1 does nothing to solve my issues.
- Disabling Power Saving mode entirely does nothing to solve my issues.
- Disabling apps that I don't use does nothing to solve my issues.
Anyone know what my issue is and how I could fix it? This would be extremely helpful, thanks.
FYI, I am not rooted, I will save this as a last resort if need be.
**Edit** using App Cache Cleaner app, apparently my phone storage is at 23.6 GB/ 24.8 GB. Will try seeing if cleaning up some stuff manually fixes this.

Wow I derped pretty hard, the issue was fixed when I checked the box with "Erase all data" under Reset Phone. Didn't check that when I reset it the first time. Guess I had too much media on it...?

Glad you sorted it out. Too much media should not be an issue, but a complete wipe will usually fix things.
Hello. I have an at&t edition M8. I decided to convert it to dev edition for a clean stock sense marshmallow upgrade. I used the oficial dev edition ruu, did a factory reset after, even though the ruu does it. But I seem to have way too much lag sometimes. I press the power button to activate the screen, sometimes the screen will turn on immeditaly, but other times it can take a couple seconds, long seconds. I have seen it take up to 5 seconds.
Sometimes when opening a conversation in whatsapp it will take about 5 seconds for the keyboard to start working. If I start to write before then, letters will be missing in the conversation I started to write.
In general for any app it can be laggy. But sometimes it can be very quick.
Aditional info:
Everything is stock except for root. I cant remember what kernel I installed to root it, is was in a guide here. Anyway I returned to stock kernel and still the same thing.
I have very little apps installed. Only basics like whatsapp, outlook and facebook, no twitter, instagram or any other social media.
I have everything I dont use turned off like NFC, bluetooth, voice controls.
I have tried clearing dalvik and cache, same issue. I have not tried factory reset since I dont want to reinstall and configure everything, plus this issue has happend since I installed the ruu on clean phone.
Any ideas?

No power saving mode at all. I tried changing the kernel to elemental, at first it was quick, but now I am starting to get the power button wake lag.

Yes. It is S-off. All I did was change SID and install dev RUU. After that, root.

It prob means something's wrong with your firmware.
But I'm not too experienced to give you a definitive answer.
But if you search along the lines of Faulty/wrong firmware you might find something.
Is there anything I can run to log what is using the cpu in the backround? It is annoying since the lag isnt everytime I go to use it, so it is hard to diagnose. But it is getting on my nerve. Even durng a call or opening a text I have to wait a couple seconds sometimes. I never got this on the stock M7 I had before.

RUU re-writes all partitions to the proper software/firmware. So OP is on the correct firmware.

Go to developer options and you should find a button called "running services"
Maybe that will help.
If not then check your RAM, see how full it is.

I can see the runing services, but I cant tell wich one is the one using the cpu when I get the lag. I just uninstalled htc dot view ( I noticed it was running), but I doubt that would cause this, all other running programs are my usual programs. The only ones that are not are: CIRmodule 1.4mb, SmartcardService 1.2mb, Peel smart remote 15mb (which I almost never use, but boots with system). I have 500mb free ram with all my usual apps running.
It has been awhile but I have not had time to update the thread. I decided to do a full restore. I reinstalled the ruu, and did 2 factory resets afterwards. The phone is still super laggy. Sometimes I have nothing running and I unlock the phone and it takes forever to enter any app. Especially whatsapp, which is the app I use the most, I hardly use the phone for facebook or any other apps. I have most other apps closed (not running in backround). I recieve a message and some time it takes forever to open it. I wanted to try and downgrade to lollipop, but if I go through all the trouble to downgrade and stays the same I might throw the phone against the wall. The HTC m7 never had any lag at all. And I have a desire 626 that I feel is even faster than this m8.
