CM10: Electric Sheep - Poor Framerate (sometimes) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Can't seem to put my finger on it, and I know the phone is plenty powerful enough to handle Electric Sheep smoothly, however often times the app seems to stutter and slow down.
The weird part is that everything else still runs like butter if that happens. I can't seem to figure out why.
Does anybody think this has something to do with CM10? Perhaps just Electric Sheep itself?

lost, stolen phone recovery App (idea)

First off, this is my first post (correction, THREAD), so I'm very sorry if it's not in the right section..
this one's for all you talented developers, i know you guys are good, so maybe take a look and tell me the feasability of this...
Well, I had an idea for an app, that assists in those moments when a phone is lost/stolen that would utilize the gps, g sensor, and or bluetooth/wifi...
something like this,
say you loose your phone. Your buddy pulls out his smartphone, and opens the same app (you would already have installed the app on yours or this would be useless) and he could go online, or something, open his bluetooth,,, something, that would sync to your device, and activate the app in the background. Then your device would give away its location, and info regaurding if it is totaly stationary (like left it in the crack of a sofa) or non stationary (someone who just stole it is holding it, playing with it) and all this without the thief knowing, it all runs in the back ground. Utilizing the compass on your buddies phone, it will guide you in the right direction, and, i dunno, beep or flash like a radar indicating distance to stolen/lost phone...
now, sometimes the battery runs flat and then you lose your phone, or the thieves played with it enough and theres no juice left. One could maybe solve this solution by tricking the OS into thinking it has, lets say 5% less battery than it actually has, this shutting the phone off when only 5% (or however much an app like this would need) remains, so the app can run, without turning the screen on i could imagine you could get a good 20-30 minutes. i think it should be an app that runs totaly in the background, so in the case that its stolen, the thief doesnt run away or rip the battery out to shake you.
There could also be a 'panic' button, similair to a car alarm panic button, the would set an alarm off (maybe a really loud annoying siren/beeping) that can only be disabled with a pass code... and if your cam has a flash, that could be flashing too.....
another idea, if the whole wireless doesnt work that way (I love tech, but i can't say that i know exactly how everythign works) maybe a high pitched tone could be emitted, on a certain frequency just above what we can hear, and could be read by your buddies phone, indicating relative distance and location... and annoy all the dogs in the park.
ah, somehow i think this is 90% not possible, but it would be cool it if was.
Maybe something like this already exists, maybe not. I didn't really do my homework.
let me know what you think!
.n
apologies for my horrendous spelling...
it's just been going downhill these days.
do your homework. there's already apps on this board that are exactly doing this. Basically anything you wrote except messing around with your dogs. oh and bluetooth is only for small range connections as is wifi! usually such applications are controlled by hidden sms messages. scroll down few more pages and the first app should already jump into your face.
oh, really?
Like i said, I didnt do too much reasearch into the subject, i probably should have though...
well, thats great then! is there an app with all of these features? because if, then i can stop dreaming and start downloading!!!
thanks :=)

[Q] 10 mins of "assasins creed" play make my phone cry (really hot device).

That's all; once I play like 10 mins with the new "Assassins Creed HD" game my HTC Trophy gets really hot... The temperature becomes so high so I have to stop play because looks like if the device were to die in heat.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
on a hd7 I have no problems , not getting hot at all even with wifi on .
Thank you for your fast response ceesheim.
So it must be just my phone or maybe the Trophy model...
Maybe I did the bad choice and I had to get the HD7 model instead. (never had problems with temperature on my HD2 massplaying anything).
But now the problem is serious, that game increases really a lot the temp on my device. I must say that I have wifi and bluetooth on the whole day (massive use of them) and maybe it can be related to the problem.
I will check without them on, anyway is scary how heat it becomes once I play it, and is strange because it doesn’t happens with other games like "The harvest"

I only had wifi on , bluetooth and gps was off , you could try that .
the phone shouldn't get hot, ever. maybe be a defective battery. ask for a replacement. free, of course.

eeeh don't know about that one. Phones get hot with extended usage of cpu or antenna. ****, your game consoles or pc's get hot when playing games...and they have fans...why wouldn't your fanless phone not?
You've never been on a long call and noticed that unit was hot by the time you got off?
I agree with ohgood, a phone shouldn't get hot, even after long play, unless overclocked or modified in any way. And 10 mins not an excuse at all. I never experienced anything like that and my wife plays 3D games on the iphone for hours, it just gets a bit warm. My Fuze is not even warm but all I play is Solitaire City / Chess. However, my definition of hot may be different from OP.
It is possible for a phone to get hot whilst its being used.
It might be a battery issue though as its mainly the battery that will get hot before any anything else.
Might want to check the battery.
Or get a replacement. Free. There should be no reason as for it to get hot... Although, my phone gets hot when using Wi-Fi Tether, but that's about it.

Galaxy Nexus Overheating

So I just got the Galaxy Nexus (upgraded from the Nexus S) and just after the first day of use (no heavy workload, wifi or GPS) this thing became painfully hot. We're talking touch it to your skin and *ouch* hot. Strangely the massive heat output seems to be limited to just the top quarter of the device. Also note that it takes only about 10min until it reaches 'unusable' status.
Does anyone else have experience with this problem? Admittedly I was warned by the provider I got it from that they had had feedback from customers about it's excessive heat output and other people I know have also commented to the same affect. But I never thought it would be quite this bad. I could fry an egg on this thing. Considering my Nexus S never had this issue - this is disappointing. Are we talking hardware design fail? Or perhaps a bad batch in my country?
If this was an iPhone they'd be headlines going on about 'heat-gate' and Larry Page coming out saying that we're 'cooling it wrong' lol
the nexus does get abit hot around the camera area, but it shouldnt be THAT hot lol.. what are the ambient tempreatures around where you're using the phone?

Not that hot - maybe 20-25c
Perhaps monitor battery temp with an app, it won't give you a precise indication of your processor temp, but there should be a correlation. The phone does get warm around the camera area, but never painfully so (for me). Was your AOS usage abnormally high?
I think the OP is overreacting just a little, if it burned you then the phone would have melted
Anyways, its perfectly normal. the OMAP4 chipset runs really hot, I read somewhere that it operates normally between 85-105 degrees Fahrenheit.
Here it says that the OMAP4 platform has a temperature range of -40° to 85°C. I think thats overstating it, but its all there

I used by SGSII in northern Ethiopia (Dallol), air temp was 56C, it didn't like it

Well let me put it this way. It's hot enough for me to consider claiming on warranty. No phone should generate that much heat right next to your head/ear. That's unusable in real terms (at least with this particular one). And i've had my fair share of android phones in the past to compare...

The Tegra2 chipset runs VERY hot when overclocked as well, I've had hot experiences on both my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and my G2x, and I can also say that the OMAP4 runs hotter than that! Just offering opinion is all, it's perfectly normal for it to be running extra hot, and it happens fairly quickly.
I completely agree with you that the phone does get abnormally hot, but then again, from my experience, so does the RAZR with a sister chip in it.

Android 4.0.1, stock Nexus Galaxy, going on 2 weeks. It's in an otterbox defender case, after 1.5 hours of running video it's warm in my hands, but that's under constant workload that nearly drained the whole battery. In other words during normal operation I am not finding the serious problem you are describing. Empathy out to you.
What temps we're talking about? Mine stays at +36C +38C while browsing web/watching youtube and gets a bit (around +41C) hotter when playing games. And these temps are far from hot-to-touch.

Sometimes my GN becomes really hot too. It also happens when i'm watching hd video for a half an hour or more. Then it turns terribly hot.
mine goes to 48C and then it starts lagging like hell
Mine gets warm around the camera and earpiece. It's pretty normal, I'd say.

There are multiple threads on this, but I'll say what I've said before: it's a dual core device, it runs hot, it's not "overheating" unless your phone is crashing, shutting down, or otherwise obviously malfunctioning in some way other than getting hot.
What do you mean by "it reaches 'unusable' status" though? Are you just afraid of using it because it seems hot? Mine gets quite hot when I use it heavily...have kept it going for several hours in this state (while plugged in) with no other issues.
Mine gets hot in the same area, but it has never been that hot, just warm. My OG Droid was OCd to 1.3ghz and that literally reached 150+ degrees F quite a few times and is still fine to this day. The OMAP SoCs seem to run a bit hotter than others, but they can definitely handle the heat.

Basically out of the many smart phones i've had in the past. This is the first that I would say I would refuse to hold it up next to my ear due to the excessive heat. It's bad enough just holding it landscape to type on let alone sticking next to my head. It's really annoying considering how otherwise the interface and physical design of the device is better then anything else i've seen on the market.
I think i'm going to get one of those laser thermometers to find just what the temp on the surface of this thing actually is.

It's hot on the back of the phone like other uses have said, not the front where your ear would be (unless it is which is an entirely different problem). Plus, when your phone reaches those temps through extraneous use (videos, games), you normally wouldn't be putting it near your ear anyways. I don't see this as a huge issue. If you do something taxing, much like a computer, expect the phone to work a little bit harder and hotter.
Oh and I doubt it's hot enough to fry an egg. You would smell the plastic melt first.
I've had once when my GNex was really hot. It was when I try factory reset many times since there was a bug that factory reset does nothing in a custom rom. But I didn't know at that time. I tried reset, flash rom, reset, etc. My GNes ended up really hot.
The only time my galaxy nexus got really hot was when I was switching kernels every 2-3 days, and one kernel (I think it was one of Franco's earlier builds) made it run hot even when I wasn't using the phone that intensely. Changed the kernel, and it's never been hot since (I play games, listen to music, browse web, push notifications, etc.) I don't do much video/HD streaming though...
I have been getting that too. Around the earpiece gets warm when only slightly used. Also, I can hear a faint buzzing humming sound from there. Open the back cover..can hear it from the camera too. Is something wrong with my phone

Angry Birds on S3...

Anyone try Angry Birds on the S3?
Feels so laggy. Is this a problem with AMOLED or what? Needs an update? It feels/looks like you're playing a game on an LCD HDTV without game mode turned on. Bad input lag and the birds slightly, but noticeably to me, stutter across the display like the response time is very low.
Also don't like how it works with the S3 screen res. The only way to play AB to me is to zoom out all the way so you can see what you're aiming at, and so it doesn't pan the view as you fire, throwing off your shot. This makes things tiny on the S3 with such a large horizontal view.
Sucks cause Angry Birds is about the only game I play on my phone when I'm bored and without my tablet. It runs much better on my Thunderbolt too.
Feels and looks fine to me. I don't notice any lag at all, gameplay is smooth.
Ok never mind lol. Was exploring the phone last night and had turned on power saver which limits cpu frequency. Would explain why my phone has been feeling laggy in all day.

[Q] Effects on pushing phone to its limits.

Will pushing my phone to its limits via playing 3D intensive cause the phone to slow down. I notice it gets rather hot and it leaves me to wonder if its causing wear and tear faster than just normal usage. I intend to keep this phone for another year and ahalf and would like it to maintain its snappiness. I understand theres no moving parts but that heat cant be beneficial to the hardware.
While prolonged overheating can be bad for things in there, if it happens in short terms, I wouldn't worry TOO much. Perhaos find an app that will let you know internal temperatures, and if you think it's getting too hot, shut it down for a while. In other threads I've read, clearing the dalvik-cache seems to temporarily help as well, if you're rooted.
My phone generally heats up while on a long cjarge with its case on (I remove the case to let it breathe now), during long periods of playing graphic-intensive games or running programs that use a lot of my processor (I underclock things at times now, helps a bit), and in the car when using GPS (I'm in Texas, though...gonna happen.)
None of these things have gotten the phone as hot as I had to when I replaced the glass lens. Lacking a heat gun, I used my hair dryer on full blast to melt the adhesive. By the way...leave it to professionals. It worked out, but shattered glass stabbed me a few times. But during the process, I had to get it so hot it hurt a little to touch. Of course, the focal point if the heat was the glass, but I digress. I'm running the Jedi Master ROM, and the only tines the phone lags is when I start typing to fast for it to keep up. System, ui, all that still works pretty well. Well, except when I break it.
As long as it's not TOO hot, heat is going to happen. This is a fairly power-heavy device, so when it gets going, heat is a by-product. Just keeo a weather eye out and judge it by your situations. Youbshould be alrigyt.
