[Req] CRT Animation - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

One thing I really miss about having my Galaxy Nexus was the CRT animation. I'm no dev son I don't know how to get this on the Siii and would be awesome if someone could figure it out. Anyone know how to go about doing this?

CRT

There actually were several threads devoted to this, but it turned out that every update meant a lot of smali code had to be changed. It got to be too much for the developers, so they stopped. Another way was to use an app without editing anything, but that was stopped for the same reason. It worked sort of OK on UVALEM, but UVALH2 broke it completely as the app was not updated. Google "xsposed, xda" and you should find it.

FreeGS3 and Wicked have CRT animation on there roms

Appreciate that information. I'll keep an eye on both!:good:

Newest cn10 and aokp has CRT. It actually works very nice. With touchjizz based ROMs there was a slight flicker after CRT animation not apparent anymore

Any stock TW ICS ROMs?

Is there any ICS ROM which has not been themed at all? I tried Racing's UCLD2 ROM but all the icons are grey. Is there any non themed ICS ROM? Or is there a TouchWiz ICS Theme that I can flash over the ICS perfection ROM? Would really appreciate some help. Never thought I'd say this but stock Android gets boring really quick.

well the ics roms that are out currently are the leaked versions of the skyrocket made to work with t989 which probably means the devs just need the proper drivers in order to do the crt animation in ics roms for t989 which is not out yet.
but the crt animation works in ics, just not yet in t989 until proper drivers are released :L
For the time being you can use the app "Screen off and lock" it's not perfect but it does its job.
>>DARKSIDE<<
Devs have been working on this for awhile. Basically it boils down to the fact that ics lacks the libs for this (surfaceflinger), and it would pretty much have to be re-written
I believe once we have kernel source for ICS. Then we'll have bln support.

It shouldn't be drivers because you have the ICS build....
Its framework related....
If anything it would only be the libs if what I posted above doesn't work...

NVM got it to work. I turned all animations off.
I have been using this app on my vibrant. Installed it onto my SG2 and it worked for the first day (Darkside EVO 2 ROM) but now the only animation that works is the static. Any ideas as to why I am having thiss issue or is this due to the ROM still being in beta?
it works in aokp. i was so used to not having it i was surprised when it did it. lol.

Wish List Items for JellyBean - From Users to Developers

It looks like the time to start a simple list as a Sprint TW/JB leak has been put out into the wild and many users have flashed it.
Let's try to use this thread for the handful of committed developers on TW based roms going into the world of Jelly Bean.
The intent of this thread is to be a clearing house of items that we want, or want back, in future custom TW based jelly bean roms.
Couple simple rules.
1- Use Search - if you are on mobile version of xda, then find a computer and use it, as there are more comprehensive searching abilities from a computer.
2 - Don't ask for stuff if a developer already has made it, and use screen shots of what it is you are talking about.
Note: I am a fun loving guy, so, if you do come in here and post crazy stuff, or repeat questions, I will have fun with you, it is isn't personal, and, trust me, I am not flaming you. If you want to be flamed, go over to cajunflavoredbobs thread (Google Now for ICS project)

But lock screen music controls is my#1. I'm assuming tw jb? Since aosp jb is further ahead.

Scrollable toggles in notification bar from FreeGS3 by clark44. I really miss that feature
More than 8 tabs for stock browser. Searched in development and couldn't find a tweak.
I say tw jellybean and cm10 hybrid that would be sick. Like my other thread but it would be the best rom for me!!

I know this is an odd, and likely impossible request. I would like the ability to turn off/on capacitive buttons. My nephew plays games on my phone but keeps hitting the back or menu button. Not too bad when a phone is that good that this is my only want.

Need help finding good stable ROM with CRT off animation?

Hey Im new to the s3 forum and was on the s2 forum..
Question is, what are some good ROMs that are stable and have the CRT off animation effect?
Only one I have seen is the older AOSP Jovy Rom where he implemented The sony xperia feel
Any other choices? Thanks!!
Keep reading. There are about 25 good roms for the S III. No TouchWiz roms have the CRT animation in them (I'm almost positive) not sure why not, but it is a great deal of Smali coding and not every one likes it, so it's just not worth their time maybe. AOSP roms are strong here cause of the qualcomm chip and their support for the Open Alliance. Just backup your IMEI and start testing, there is also an abundance of videos of each rom on YouTube watch those to get a better feeling.
Haha I remember the galaxy s1 days when enabling CRT off animation just meant changing a boolean value in framework-res...I guess that it requires more smali hacks nowadays so people are including it Sammy ROMs less.
However all AOSP based ROMs for the s3, have the CRT off animation by default.

Like mentioned, none of the sammy roms have the crt off effect however nearly all aosp ones do. It is an integrated feature in both cyanogenmod and aokp. My favorite is the pacman rom. It is completely stable as a daily driver but does have a few bugs that can be easily fixed. There are also nightly releases adding the best from all the other roms.
thanks to all!

Jedi X is an international (N7105) based rom, and so is the theme, so it would make sense that there are no issues with that combination. Tweaked is T-Mobile based, and I mess w/ a bunch of things in SystemUI, so I'm not overly surprised that you had a statusbar (SystemUI) issue.

Actually was hoping for a port for Tweaked, especially since dwitherell is taking a little break. Hopefully, that would make it easier to complete and then not have to worry about the ROM being updated.

Well I decided to make the theme from my ROM for tweaked (and tweaked only) while maintaining my ROM. I won't be adding apps to the theme so it won't have the new svoice etc like my ROM because that would be changing the ROM itself in a way, though these are all easy to get yourself. I'm a big tweaked fan and dwitherell has been so helpful to me that it only seems right dive fellow tweaked want the s4 theme.
