I've been having some issues with my screen recently, probably due to a cable being loose or something like that so I want to send my phone back to be repaired. I have S-OFF and am running CM6.1.1. I have a nandroid backup for the original stock rom, but this is obviously rooted. So have to i get to back to S-On with the original stock room un-rooted so my warranty isn't technically void??
edit: Its a EU desire z,
Restore the backup of the stock ROM that you have.
If you have S-OFF via gfree then you need to un-do that via "gfree -s on".
If you have the eng hboot then you need to dd back the stock hboot (get it out of a PC10IMG.zip file.
Finally you can remove root. Removing the Superuser app will almost certainly be enough, no-one is going to notice anything more.
I flashed a hboot to get s-off, how exactly do i dd back to stock hboot? Do i extract the file from the PC10IMG zip?

Yes, extract the stock hboot from the correct PC10IMG.zip file, then you can dd it to your hboot partition just like you originally did with the eng boot.
Or if you just flash a complete stock ROM over the top (the same version as your backup, once the backup has been restored), it will install the stock hboot anyway.
ok still, just to be certain (last thing i want is to brick my phone!!) restore rooted stock rom from the nandroid backup, then get a copy of the original rom i have a flash it? and do i flash it through cwm or the other menu?

If that stock ROM is the same version as your rooted backup that you restored, then yes, that should be fine because the stock ROM will include the stock hboot, to put you back to S-ON via hboot.
If however the stock ROM is an earlier version than your backup, you will have to go through an additional downgrading procedure to safely be able to flash an earlier ROM (or you could end up bricked).
No, you don't flash it via Clockwork. You put the ROM image (not RUU) onto the root folder of your SD card, called "PC10IMG.zip", then boot into hboot (with the phone powered off, hold Volume Down and then press Power until it switches on) and it will open the ROM and ask if you want to flash it.
Cool, that makes sense. Thanks
is this safe to flash on ANY Desire Z?
RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe
(This RUU is exactly the one used in the 1.72 root procedure to downgrade to 1.34)
Like I plan to just execute it on the computer and let it do its thing.
My baseband version:
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
My rooting route was exactly as the XDA wiki, but stopped short of flashing ENG HBOOT.
I know I can restore my backup ROM, and s-off using gfree. My problem is with CWM recovery because if the people at the shop try to charge it with the power down, they will know I've rooted before due to the phone booting into recovery.

I belive this is the RUU for the Europe Vision only, so if your Desire Z is not the Europe Vision I would not run this RUU.
Edit: I found this thread on your RUU, I would check it out first before flashing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-822908.html
In skimming the thread I see someone flashed this on a Bell Desire Z, but they super-cid with gfree first.
Edit 2:Cant you just find the stock recovery.img and then flash it to your phone using the flash_image method from terminal emulator? Since you dont have fastboot. Then re-run gfree with the -s option to get S-on again.
Heres the link to the Flash_image method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902493&highlight=flash_image
i was thinking of a pseudo-one click method. hahaha
I've just finished downloading the RUU i mentioned.
How do I go about extracting the recovery.img? I tried extracting with 7zip and it says cannot open file.

Just download it myself, good question, not quite sure myself on an RUU since it wants to exe. , thought it might be a simple a unzipping it but ?
Edit : found this:http://lukasz.szmit.eu/2010/04/extracting-rom-files-from-htc-android.html
there's nothing dangerous about it, right? As in the recovery.img extracted from any RUU is not baseband specific or anything? My radio is stock.

Im not gonna lie, I really dont know if the G2 and the Desire Z recovery.img are the same, I know theres a link to the stock G2 recovery image here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834545&highlight=unroot
hrmm... Just a thought, is that issue worthy of a thread? That whether stock recoveries of G2 and Desire Z are the same, regardless of location of origin (ie Asian/European etc).
You just need to run the RUU but then not press any buttons on the screen, then find the folder where the RUU has extracted temporary files. There will be a standard location on this that depends on your exact OS. Look for the most newly-created folders at this location, and a couple of levels down from there you will find the extracted files, including rom.zip.

The same version of Clockwork recovery is used on the G2 and all Desire Zs. So I would have thought you'd be absolutely fine to flash the stock recovery from that DZ RUU onto your own DZ.

Hi,
I have a rooted/s-off htc desire. And i'm just experimenting with it. I'm trying to just get the rom (so no radio, hboot and recovery) out of a ruu rom.zip. So i can flash it with RA-Desire recovery.
I don't care about the fact that there are already nice custom roms out there (normaly i use gingervillain). I just want to try this to experiment with the stock rom,
Eh? Might nit be understanding this correctly but here goes. The hboot, recovery and radio are not in a rom, any rom for that matter. They are all seperate. That is why you flash them. If your just wanting AMONRA recovery, just flash it in recovery. And please don't mess with the hboot. If you **** that up then you brick your phone

A stock PB99IMG.zip has all the above in it so assuming the OP is wanting to take them out of a stock ROM and flash the rest. Doubt this would work as the ZIP file isn't designed to run in the same way as a custom ROM update-script
Eddy understands what I want. I think it is possible. I red the following on de alpharev website.
Will my phone stay S-OFF forever?
Yes and no. As soon as you decide to flash a stock RUU that has a HBOOT update in it, this hacked HBOOT will be overwritten.
You do have the option to remove the HBOOT update from the rom.zip inside the RUU. Since your phone no longer checks signatures, you could easily do that.

Yeah that would suggest that you could flash the ZIP with the files removed - the issue is that the ROM.zip (PB99IMG) isn't a ZIP file in the true sense so you'd need 7-Zip to extract the files and then re-zip them without the HBOOT, radio, etc
I'd assume you'd flash it as you would a normal PB99IMG file and not like a custom ROM but I don't know
Actually my idea was to just flash it from recovery (if possible).
It wouldn't work as you don't flash .IMG files in recovery
ok, thanx. But how do they do it with that stock rooted roms?
I need to send my phone to quarantee and i want to make my phone the same as was then i bought. It had 2.1 rom. So i want clean everything and instal original 2.1 rom. How can i do it and where is a link to this file?
thank u so much
to get back the original sense rom you can install a stock RUU as mentioned in this thread(5TH BIT) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318)
but if your wildfire is s-offed use this thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160251) to s-on again & then use a RUU
GOOD LUCK
what does it mean s offed?
Have you ever root your phone, or not?
If your phone isnt rooted, you have to do nothing.
How did you update?
of course rooter. What should i instal? rooted original rom or not rooted if i want to send to quarantee ?
[ROM]Safe Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1 | No Hboot | No Radio | No Rooted & Rooted
or all roms are good to send to quarantee ? for example [ROM]RUU_Buzz_Froyrange_ES_2.34.75.1_Radio_13.55.55. 24H_3.35.20.10 SAFE!
If you want to send it for warranty, flash an RUU:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
Flashing those Safe Files will not work because you will also have to remove Clockworkmod. Look for this file on the above link:
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2_22_405_1_Radio_13_55_55_24H_3_35_20_10_release_160191_signed.exe

im downloading it. sorry , but how to flash it because its exe? and after this rom i can send already to warranty? or i need to delete clockworkmod somehow.
sorry for bad english
Yes, its an EXE, so, connect your Wildfire to your PC, and simply run it. Flashing the RUU will remove your Clockworkmod Recovery and will install the Stock ROM, so, you can send it for warranty after you have successfully installed the RUU.
Hellloo xda...is there anyone who can gimme a proper step to step guide for unrooting my htc one v.
1. Download the HTC Asia India RUU from Football's collection in the development section
2. While that's downloading, relock your bootloader using the command
Code:
fastboot oem lock
3. Open the RUU. Find the temp folder it created and open ROM.zip from inside it with 7Zip. Extract the recover.img and flash it
Code:
fasboot flash recovery recovery.img
4. Run the RUU and your phone's status will be *** RELOCKED *** and unrooted.
So why do you want to unroot?
Whenever I install custom Rom my sd card and WiFi doesn't work...soo I installed custom Rom without having a nandroid.backup.that's y I was asking.neways thanks a lot for replying.this. is my second one v(replacement)
sent from my sexoo one v
My build number is1.56.720.2 and the ruu is 1.58.707.3.what should i do now??
how do i find the temp folder??..
What is the use of other images???in rom folder..does this stock ruu flashing fixes error?
So what exactly are you trying to do now? Before you said unroot the phone, then you said install custom ROM in a later post.
could you also please find a way to help me? my htc one v freeze forever after i turn it on, please help me
Assuming you're on stock rom, have you try factory reset in bootloader ?
Do you know your software version or cid no. ?
He sent a pm telling me that his phone is rooted and he flashed a zip file that supposedly increases the SD card speed, and apparently causes soft bricks too
I think the only thing to do is re-flash the RUU because I don't think he did a backup in CWM Recovery.
Roxas84, please confirm.
I see.. if he can send the file, sometimes do a revert.zip will help. The easiest is reflash the same rom.zip with wipe cache & system. It should correct the error.
Hey dudes,
I was going to start the same thread but since this is open I want to ask you one question:
If I root the phone, flash cwm, and then I want to return to stock (for warranty purposes) how can I 'uninstall' cwm? Because for unroot I know how to do it, but uninstall custom recovery I never done that even on my older phone - Htc hero.
I'm not new to recoveries, custom roms, flashing and all this kind of stuff, but this is a problem that I don't know how to handle it since I didn't needed to uninstall the custom recovery in the past.
TIA!
L.E: To Answer my own question:
D) ROM is stock, bootloader unlocked, CWM recovery and rooted
- download OTA Rootkeeper from Play Store
- run the OTA Rootkeeper and click protect root
- no need to relock bootloader
- boot to bootloader and fastboot flash the stock recovery
- run the OTA update
- Once done, run OTA Rootkeeper and click restore root
Thanks @ckpv5 for these awesome guides
I just summarized this thread in the following tut but with much more detail:
[TUT] Re-flash stock ROM (RUU) after bricking a rooted device (for noobs)
Roxas84, follow this tut if ckpv5's suggestion above doesn't work.
1ceb0x, it will also show how to revert to stock recovery.

Just restore the nandroid backup you made before rooting your phone.
Hello guys, I want to unroot my One V but I have a problem. I don't find my RUU. HBOOT says:
*** UNLOCKED ***
PRIMOU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.18.0000
Radio-3831.18.00.282
eMMc-boot
Which ruu should I use?
Thx!
Dude you don't look here you look at your software number in settings
Oh! My device says 2.19.666.3 and again, there's not RUU with this mention...
hello i have an htc desire whit s-off on stock ruu and cwm recovery but no root and all over the internet they said that just revolutionary can root my gb stock rom but when i enter in revolutionary it just said that i have already s-off and ask me if i want to flash a custom recovery, no root question how can i root my desire? and something else i will not change my stock ruu whit an other one , this is the only that work on my desire and i don't want any custom rom so please is there anyone that can tell me how to root my desire?
Revolutionary does not root ur phone, it makes u s-off. To root, simply google superuser, and on that site, download superuser zip file and the su-binary for arm. Put both files on sdcard, boot recovery and flash both zip files and reboot.
