Netflix Help - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have rooted my Kindle Fire with AOKP build 38 and I can't get Netflix to work.
I can open the app, and it goes to the browse menu, but once I choose a video to stream, it goes to the loading screen and just stays there. Is there a fix/workaround, or does Netflix just not work with this ROM.
Thank you,
KB

dunno about AOKP but there are plenty of roms here at xda that netflix works perfectly on full list here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1859851
Not to mention that is a very old build of aokp http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614004 maybe hwa wasn't going yet on that build I suggest you update your rom

AOKP Milestone 6 link isn't available. Do you know another link to download?
Thanks.

good to know on that dead link but here is another http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671700
but if your going rom shopping try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1682567

Thanks man, but I found a mirror to milestone 6.
It still has Netflix issues... Now I'm running Hellfire CM10 jellybean. Netflix and YouTube work fine, however,
The Watchespn app won't play video. I can get to the browse and log in, but when
I go to play a video I get "error cannot play video".
I've also tried SGT7 CM10 and same issue. I guess I can't get all my
Video apps to play on whatever ROM I try.
Thanks for your help man; much appreciated.

Netflix not working on AOSP JELLY BEAN 4.2.1_r1
I had Neflix working on previous version of AOSP JELLY BEAN 4.2.1_r1 but on the newest release (1-22) it is not. Any help out there?

Previously installed app will not download after downgrade from CM9

Went from the CM7.2 stable kang to cm9a1 kang back to the same cm7.2 stable kang and I cannot download a previously installed app. Not sure if any other apps are affected.. Any thoughts this are greatly appreciated. I need my music!
**update** I tried to include screen shots but my newb status is preventing me from doing so.
The app in question is Live Phish. The message in play store is "your device is not compatable with this item."
here's my configuration:

incredikernal 2.6.38.8
cyanogenmod-7.2.0-RC0-inc-KANG

Could you download it with CM7 before you tried CM9?
That is a good question. Maybe I will try going back to cm7.1, download the app, then flash the 7.2 kang with no wipe?

I just looked for it in the play store and couldn't find it. On CM7 kang.
According to Android Central, the Play Store has been going through issues the last day or so:
http://www.androidcentral.com/getting-google-play-store-errors-youre-not-alone
Edit: I couldn't see the app from my phone either and I'm on CM7 as well although I can see it from the website.
I was not able to find that app on my phone either. I'm running CM7-PONS-03062012 version.
Tried downgrading to cm6 because i wanted to see what it was like and i was able to download the app but no dice after reflashing the 7.2 kang. I guess that leaves flashing 7.1 and not wiping before flashing back to the 7.2 kang. Out of curiousity, What is the difference between the 7.2 stable kang and the 7.2 pons?

Just some open commits (check my changelog). I'll have to go back through it, but nothing should affect the market.

Cant you just download the app on a rom that allows it, copy the apk from /data to your sdcard, install 7.2 kang and then install the app from the sdcard by clicking on it and selecting install?
If it worked on an ICS ROM and not a GB one, try editing your build.prop, located /system/build.prop. Compare the two values for ro.build.fingerprint (which is mainly what the play store looks at, that and LCD Density), and change the values to what ICS shows. Then reboot, clear market data, and try again. If this doesn't work, or if you need help with the process, let me know.
Sorry i am not on your level with this, but i am willing to learn! Does isolating the apk of a pay app require anything more than a root explorer? What would be the path to find those apks?

You can give CyanogenMod9 Music a try. It's pretty decent except with the current version 1.0 while the song is playing the app slows and stutter.
You might want to try to sign up for a VPN service and connect to an American server if that help.
Also with those CWM zip rom, you can open them up and extra the music.apk.

newer AOKP port for DHD/Inspire??

has anyone or can anyone port a newer version of AOKP for the DHD/Inspire? like milestone 1 or whichever one is newest? I personally only like aokp and not too fond of the aosp or aospx. I flashed Pacman rom but had too many problems with it.
so if anyone can port one it would be GREATLY appreciated.
thanks a lot

You mean AOKP Android 4.2? We've just got an AOSP based 4.2 ROM, so I'd just be paitent for a AOKP based follow up. If not, maybe you can suggest it to synergy or RandomBlame? I believe RandomBlame already has a 4.2 ROM, but it's in its baby stages as of yet.
no a JB version 4.1 im back to running aokp release 7 from the github. but hasnt been a new one since like September.

RandomBlame is on Release 30 now, look for JellyTime in the Development forum
I don't know about 4.2 AOKP, but if it's options you want you could try cfX 4.2.
I tried aosp ROMS and cfx 4.1 but I don't like them as much as AOKP for some reason. Although I have not tried cfx 4.2 yet. Was waiting for Bluetooth to work. Also I've tried jellytime aosp and I always come back to aokp. I ran Icecoldsandwich for the longest time but I want to stay on JB and not ICS. If I actually had the time (kids, work, wife) I would try porting a newer aokp over to dhd/inspire myself but I never have time. Even dropping a deuce is apparently a "team sport" according to my kids. LOL.
bump?
cfX bluetooth works now, if that is what's still preventing you from using it.
And just today: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113047.

The reason is very obvious one
AOSP - clean unbranded stock android
AOKP - unbranded android with cleanly built in to settings menu additional features like CPU OC, status bar tweaks etc.... with everything else as close as possible to AOSP.

What Bugs on CM10 and CM 10.1 [Xperia S.LT26i.Nozomi]

Hello to everyone. I'm on XZX2, but i think that it is very slow, not laggy, but slow. I tried both of cm 9 and cm10, but never cm 10.1
My questions are:
1) What bugs are in CM10 and what bugs are in CM10.1? (Like HDMI, 1080p video recording, FM Radio..)
2) I can use nova kernel 1.6 with cm10, but Can I use its with CM 10.1?
3) I love cm10.1's camera app, what rom (FXP, Cyano, Opensemc...) do you suggest to me?
Thank you all.
Stefano [ITA]
ps: i know that in the end of March/April will roll out Jelly bean, but i want to try 4.2.2 also..
Go and try, make a backup before... U got nothing to lose.. I am on cm10.1 open semc 04.. I think it is the best rom...

1)FXP's CM10 have no bug in it's latest stable ROM ,OpenSEMC's CM10.1 have some problem with FM Radio.(but it doesn't matter
2)You can't use nova kernel on CM10.1
3)All 4.2 ROM's camera are the same(Slim, CM10.1 ,PAC).
If you want a ROM that very stable, try FXP's CM10
If you want a ROM that high customation, try PAC (19 based on CM10(4.1.x) ,20 or 21 based on CM10.1(4.2.x)
If you want a ROM that daily use, try Slim Rom or OpenSEMC's CM10.1
sorry for my poor english :<
The main problem on cm 10.1 is HDMI and Fm radio is Not working perfectly. Most of the cm 10.1 rom is not battery user friendly. But as I think and as I have got battery is good on cm 10.Both of the rom are not yet stable. Many times rebooting by itself.Networking problem on both cm10 and cm10.1

Does anyone knows if anyone of those ROMS has camera support? I mean fullHD 1080p video and 12mp photos? And if there is support for 3.4 kernel ?

In general, the main bugs are related to network, sometimes it disconnects itself and have to disable and reenable data traffic. Moreover, 1080p and FM Radio is not working in most of cases, but in general, CM10-10.1 ROMs are very stable.

Best ROM For Kindle Fire

To be Honest,I hate Cyanogenmod 10.1,it lags, freezes, and the browser crashes very often.I used gedeROM for a little while and was VERY satisfied, but then i read a post from soupmagnet saying that the kernel that gederom uses could cause decrease in battery life over time,i want confirmation for that and dont say to get aosp 4.2.2,i tried that and it was ok i guess but my kindle got frozen saying that it was charging even though it wasnt (yes i tried rebooting)so pls tell me if theres a fix for the charging loop or a better rom or if gederom doesnt cause that btw pls dont mention cm 10.2 it wont work better
I've been using Simple CM9 with good results so far. Not sure about the kernel/battery life stuff. Nothing has had better battery life for me than hashcode's 4.3 aosp. I'll be watching that one as it matures.

The latest ROMs usually have the latest kernel (low level bugfixes), and compatibility with Google's services. From what I've noticed, higher versions of Android don't cause more lag or use more memory either.
I haven't personally upgraded to 4.3 because I think it needs to mature a bit more, and become more stable, but I'm running 4.2.

Well I installed twa privs cm10.1 again.....and 4.2 still sucks on the kindle fire. The "Stable" official one is even worse..... I have always hated 4.2 on the kindle.....any older/better rom suggestions? (note i am not going with the barebones cm9 roms.....any good smooth roms fo me too try?i cant go with smoothrom because of the bloat of the installers.... NoteLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO GO BACK TO STOCK....STOCK IS WORSE THAN 4.2 ON THE KINDLE....(i forgot i had caps on but i don't care to retype that) I cant go with gingerbread because of lack of support.
I've been running SmoothROM since February. It's very quick and buttery smooth. The battery life is better than my Galaxy Tab 7+

Stock Jelly Bean 4.3_r2.1 for the Kindle Fire is the best for my Fire
I was the fan of CM for Fire since 2011. However I have lots of troubles with the CM10.1/SGT7. It was smoothly after installed but later, it freezed, getting hot and need restarting everytime I let it sleep long (more than 1 hour). So when I see the Stock Jelly Bean 4.3_r2.1 for the Kindle Fire from Hashcode, I get it and no regret, even it is the stock ROM, no tablet UI and convenients of CM ROM. It almost never freezzing. Stick with this ROM. :good:

I never thought while I was looking for the solution to my problems with the fire 1st gen updated to 10.2 ... that the solution might have been in a discussion titled "best rom for kindle fire" thanks a lot for suggestions!!
Some people can show to me where I could download the roms suggested or the exact name and version to look for them? And gapps?
:good:
isn't it against the rule to ask what is the best rom?
HellFire KF ROM
I'm running 2013-11-01 Hellfire ROM on Kindle Fire 1st Gen; Context Switching has lagging issues; coming out of power saving a bear; no update since Nov 1 & no change logs; choosing a build is shooting in dark; 10.2 CM video so much better than stock using MX PRO; smoother
Wish to try CM11, but 1st release beta; waiting
getting KF ready from ROM swap was head thumping on Win 8 & Win 8.1 (OS refused device driver installation even w/ user overide); but cake on Win 7 Uliti;
This is personally my favorite ROM and is updated regularly. This developer is usually on the bleeding edge of the latest fixes and updates.

after the lag issues and exasperating slowness of the kindle, I tried the CM11 (cm-11-20131208-1703-otter-sgt7) with the appropriate gapps and I also flashed this file "change_to_nexus7-4.4" (after installation).
Now the kindle came back fast and responsive. Yeah, not so fast as with the stock rom, but better than using Hellfire rom. It 'ok and the only "bug" I've found (however known), is that one relating to the mounting of the storage archive. I Solved it using apposite app in the store and restarting the device
I am satisfied, now.
Now I just clicked on the link of Laquox and he suggests the same rom GJ!

I just used this kernal for my kindle fire which is running android 4.3.1 PAC man rom which is Pac version 4.3 build-1, AOKP version otter_jb mr2, cyanogen mod 1-.2-20140128-unoficcial-otter, paranoid android 3.99-rc2
It has made this kindle exponentially faster as if i was just using my note 2, which is running the same pacman rom.
my guess is that I probably should not be running this kernal with this set up, but it really is super smooth and fast.
if anyone could point me to a faster kernal or a overclocker app which would make it even faster, please do.
under the performance tab in the settings, my maximum CPU frequency is only 1008MHz.
Id love to get this clocking at higher speeds if it is possible so please do let me know any secrets im missing oput on.
Every tegrak overclocker app i have tried says that it wont work for this kindle.
Is there anything i am missing?
At the end of the day, thanks for this kernal. I only loaded the kernal, and gept the gaps i already had loaded.
