[Q] Bell's 930 missing radio app? - LG Nitro HD

It's seems that Bell is good at forcing you to use their own radio streaming service... the radio app on my p-930 is missing as it was the case with my Bell's gio before. I remember adding the .pkg file for the Galaxy Gio is there a possible solution to add the radio app to our phones?

As far as I know, none of the P93x variants support FM radio. Technically the hardware necessary for it should be present in the phone, but none of LG's own ROMs actually utilize it. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) It would probably require much more work than just installing a radio app to get it working, assuming it's possible.

Bell disabled the radio app on purpose... With my Galaxy Gio all I had to do is install the radio app ripped from a european version of the phone and it worked. I suppose we can do the same with the LG

I think you're missing the point. Bell didn't disable anything because it didn't exist in the first place. There is no radio app on the AT&T, Telus, or international (P936) versions of the phone either.

[Q] Real FM Radio app on the PLAY

Hi
Is there any way to activate the FM radio on the PLAY, not via the internet (which I can't use everywhere, because I don't have an unlimited plan... so expensive in Mexico) actual FM radio, as all Samsung phones do... (they even have FM radio recorder, god I miss that feature on my Jet).
I currently purchased a MW600 Set which have FM radio so I can have it even without the need for the phone, and so far it have been working great, but kind of missing that feature I used to have for 3 years on my previous 2 Samsung phones (Tocco F480 and Jet S8000)
I read somewhere that the phone have the hardware and is capable to run the FM radio but it was blocked by SE for battery saving purposes.
Is there a workaround to unlock it?
Also does anybody else think is funny that the Xperia play is the only Experia without FM radio ? due to it great capabilities it SE should give us the flexiblity to decide if we want it or not.
Thanks
I think it needs to be enabled when making a custom Rom? not to sure
The Xperia Play does not even have an FM radio unlike the other Sony Phones that do have one.
Actually the R800 schematics posted somewhere on this board show it *does* have an FM radio. No idea if it's accessible though.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus dropping all sorts of signal

Hello.
I bought my Samsung Galaxy Nexus in March(around March 5th). It's a GSM one on the carrier TELUS in Canada.
Now, I converted it to 'yakju' device because I wanted the "Google experience".
Now, the issue I've been having only started this week; when I have the device in stand-by(Just have the screen locked), even if it's on the charger, after a certain amount of time(I have no idea the exact number. I think it's random) it'll drop my Wi-Fi and 3G(/HSPA+) signals. It'll show it as connected, but greyed out. The only way I have found to get it working again is to toggle Wi-Fi on/off or toggle Airplane mode on / off. I don't mind doing this, but I don't think this should be happening.
I am on Android 4.0.4 as of Sunday. But I've had this issue before updating to 4.0.4(Not OTA, did it manually).
Anyway, if you would be so kind, I'd love to know if any of you have a solution to this issue. Simple or not(I'm pretty comfortable using the terminal and fastboot.)
If I had to guess, I'd assume I need to flash a new radio onto my device, but I have no clue.
If I'm missing any info you think I should add just let me know.
Any help is appreciated!

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about. I'm sorry.
Also, any particular radio you have in mind?

[Q] root / flash rom w/o Sprint service plan?

I've recently switched from Sprint to AT&T due to extremely poor cell / data coverage at my home. Now I would like to use my HTC Evo 4G for app development and for offline GPS navigation (it has much better GPS reception than my new Samsung Galaxy S III). I've searched this forum, and the other forums as well, using these search terms:
flash rom update without mobile data usageflash rom without mobile carrier planflash rom without mobile data connectionuse phone as tablet without mobile databut have not found any relevant posts for my questions. I've also reviewed several of the guides regarding rooting and flashing new ROMs on the EVO 4G, but they all seem to assume that you have a service plan and want a data connection to the mobile carrier. I understand that is a normal thing and that my scenario is the exception, so that's probably why my searches have come up empty. I'm simply wondering:
1) Can I root and/or flash a new ROM onto my Sprint EVO 4G now that I no longer have a service contract with Sprint?I don't want the phone to connect to the cell tower for phone or data service, which I assume would incur charges, during or after the procedure.2) Is it feasible to do ROM modifications or Android application development on a device for which I do not have a service contract?Of course I understand that features involving the mobile carrier would be off limits.
All of this can be done without service. It just requires you know what you are doing. Its simple enough to root, you need to know what hboot version you have so you can follow the according procedure.

Its like this, on your laptop you can make yourself an Admin without having Wifi
Same with rooting and your phone
Thanks. I guess I was just being a bit paranoid that I'd get some fat charge from Sprint for the phone connecting to the cell towers during some of the reflash and boot processes before I could turn off the cellular radio (airplane mode). Not sure why I was worried, considering that the poor service at my home is the reason I switched carriers anyway.
I now have an unlocked and rooted EVO 4G. Next step is to try out a JB ROM ...
Hi.An absolute noob to Evo rooting but not to rooting itself. I got a Evo 4g that I just want to use as an ultimate MP4 player for my kid. It's Baseband is 2.15.00.12.19 and is running 2.3.5. What root method works and has files that can be downloaded because I've looked at a bunch that seem obsolete now. Thanks
It's not the baseband version that matters when you're trying to figure out which method to use for rooting. It's the HBOOT version you need to check. The first step is to unlock the bootloader. If you have HBOOT 2.18.0001 like I had, you first need to got to HTCDev.com, create an account, and use the unlock utility on that site. Just follow the directions there. You'll need to enter a number located on the back of your phone underneath the battery, then they'll send a unique binary to the email address you used while registering, which you can then use to unlock your bootloader.
If you have an earlier version of HBOOT, there are other methods to unlock the bootloader. A little more searching in the EVO 4G forums on this site will get you better instructions than I can give.
Anyway, there are several more steps to do after your bootloader is unlocked before the phone is actually rooted. Since you've done this before, you're probably familiar with the rest of the procedure.
Hope that gets you started in the right direction.
Now running a Team D.I.R.T. Jelly Bean ROM from Mazda
By the way, I took the plunge and am now running a Jelly Bean 4.1.2 ROM called Dirty Unicorns V1.0 from Mazda, part of Team D.I.R.T.
Working fine so far, but I'm not utilizing the cellular radio at all, just WiFi and GPS at this point.

I hear that has been an issue for some people. Read over the thread for a fix.

Oh, thanks. But I didn't mean to imply that the cellular radio was an issue. I'm not using it because I don't want to - I no longer have a service plan with Sprint - so I intentionally have the cellular radio disabled.

[Q] Application requires to be located by means of Cell Phone

Ok, here is the thing....
First off, my phone is an AT&T SGS III running "The Devils Reject_v7" just fine. The application I am referring to in the title is UltimatePoker, a licensed Poker site in Nevada. The requirement is that your cellphone needs to be located and trackable in the State of Nevada to participate in playing online poker.
Now, this works fine with the above mentioned ROM. It is an Android v4.1.1. Now, whenever I try to upgrade to a version higher then that, i.e. 4.2, 4.2.2, 4.3, The login into the Poker site will fail with the message "Cellphone cannot be located" switching back to the above ROM will allow access again.
Here what I tried so far...
1. Changed the Modem to different versions on the above ROM....no difference, still working
2. Changed the ROM and applied all different modems I could find .... No Success, it always failed.
My question would be,
1. What difference is between rooted Stock and "The Devils Reject_v7" which prevents stock from being found?
2. If it is some mod in the kernel, can this mod be implemented in rooted stock or even in never versions of android.
I know, this is not really a topic many folks might be interested in, but maybe someone will just look at it....
Firstly, you're in the wrong section, this should probably be in q/a, but anyhow, some people have problems with GPS when upgrading to higher versions, and i'm assuming the app uses gps to track, so have u confirmed it working before running the app?

the app is a windows app and requires the phone to ne found not by GPS but by triangulation. The online poker site has my cellphone number and when I logon they request from the service provider (in my case AT&T) the current location of the phone. AT&T will use triangulation if on 3G. If I am on LTE the triangulation is not working. I have to use as APN wap.cingular to make it work. And that's where I get lost. I know that the SGS3 is using a combined 3G-4G chip. this is probably the problem. HTC does not has the issue as far as I know...
Thanks for the answer though.
Since this is my first OP do you know how to move it to Q&A?
Thanks

Is this possible guys?

A new app called NextRadio allows you to access FM radio using the preexistent FM radio tuners in modern cell phones along with the headphones as an antenna. The site for the app is nextradioapp.com. When trying to use the app on the E980, it says that it is not supported in the ROM. Anyway more information about the FM tuners can be found at freeradioonmyphone.org. Would it be possible to add support to current ROMs to enable the app to work on the E980 model of the phone and its variants? I'm just curious because this is a feature I have always wanted on my phone and I used to have it back on my Motorola Atrix 2 but all the phones I've had after that haven't had that feature. If it is possible to get it working on this phone it would be awesome.
Unfortunately if you have the E980 (which is the AT&T model I hope) they {AT&T} have removed the whole FM radio chip from what I know. So the next radio app won't work and you can't get any rom that would support it.
