So i dropped my beautiful one X in water today ( 3 seconds )
The second i took it out of the water, i dried it with my shirt, pried off the glass and mopped up the insides.
Then i put the motherboard and front screen assembly in the over at 60 degrees ( Celsius ) for 10 minutes.
There is condensation between the glass and LCD.
Does anyone know if this will clear up after a week or two ?? or should i order a completely new assembly and install it ?

If the moisture is trapped it could take forever to get out, maybe take apart as much as possible and use a hair dryer on it, not too hot.
Good luck!

I don't want to separate the LCD and digitizer because it's very fragile..
It's doing everything as normal.. charging, making calls, everything works 100%
Just the blotches of water under the glass :\
I'm thinking it'll be there for a while....
you could buy one of these

I think if you put the hair dryer on the screen for like 15-30 minutes it should evaporate completely, just make sure the hairdryer is not too hot.

Try that, it even tells you when their is no more moisture in the atmosphere (bag).
It will start blue, go to pink whilst its working, and then when it has completely drawn out any moisture located in the phone/bag, it will return back blue.
When that happens, your phone should be fine.
GOOD LUCK !

I went swimming with my HTC Desire (It didn't like it). I've left my phone in a bowl of rice, on top of my boiler for 24 hours, I believe most of the moisture has gone but between the screen protector and the AMOLED screen there is a large amount of visible water. I'm not very comfortable with removing the back cover and working my way to the front by disassembling the phone. So I was wondering, its a long shot, if I can just remove the front panel of the phone without going through the whole disassembling process. That way I can remove the water, and clean off the moisture marks.
If this is not possible, has anyone got any other ideas to how I could remove this water without disassembling my whole phone?
A week would be better! 24 hours is not long enough
Most phones are designed so there is only one way to get inside...through the void stickers at the back.
Get the right tools. Take your time. Be gentle. Be carefull. Remember where everything goes and do it the hard way.
If your lucky you'll only have one or two screws left when its all back together.
There is an excellent guide on this forum somewhere with lots of pictures that can help.
Disassembling and blowing the water out ASAP is the safest option dude.. do no delay.
i take it you have no insurance coverage?
Nope :/
Got a good guide for disassembling?
Disassembled. Water removed. Hair dryer from huge distance to remove any more. Put back together. Won't turn on.
Oh well, time to shell out

swimming?
Ouch..Ouch..OUCH!!!!
What kind of water was it? If it was actually a swimming pool with chlorine etc then you should have rinsed it in deionized water then disassembled it and got the water out then left it in a bowl of rice for at least a week.
I think the damage will already have been done by trying to switch it on.
Phil
I inherited a G2 that had been dropped in a pool. It was dried out with the bag of rice trick and seems to work except for the touch screen.
The previous owner was able to restore to stock and it boots fine, screen looks good, clear picture with no flaws.
However the touch screen is completely unresponsive so I am unable to proceed past the sign up page.
I took it to the lab here at work and hosed it down with isopropyl alcohol, spraying it into every hole and port I could find and then placed it in a desiccant chamber.
My question is, if this procedure doesn't resurrect it, what would you do next? Replace just the digitizer or the whole screen assembly? Can I get the whole screen assembly so I don't have to do the heat gun trick to take it apart?
I have completely torn down a couple of G1s and reassembled them and have replaced a couple iPod batteries and screens so I am fine tearing it apart if need be.
The phone was free to me so I can afford to spend a few bucks on it in my ADD attempts to fix it.
Thanks for any info on what you would try replacing first.
Just as a bit of information for anyone searching. The alcohol seemed to do more damage than good. Now the LCD screen is all dicked up and the touch screen still doesn't work. I am hoping another day in the dryer will help but I think I ruined it.
when using alcohol. weaken it down to about 25%, otherwise it's a bit harsh on stuff
if you are just cleaning a straight circuit board only, like a motherboard, then full strength is fine.
Dilute it with deionized water or what?
sent from XDA app
Yeah you'd want to use deionized, otherwise the ions will mess everything up.

Should still dry out tho, straight alcohol evaps super quick, just put it in the dessicant chamber again. Id check the ribbon cable from the mobo to the screen first...could be loose or even have some crap on the pins from the chlorine

I tore it down to the frame, pulled the LCD and cleaned in between that and the digitizer with a lens cloth.
I cleaned every connection I could get to with De-Oxit cleaner and a q-tip.
Put it back together and the LCD now has those damn lines down the right hand side like I have seen others complain about. So I guess tonight I will tear it apart again.
I don't recall anyone ever answering what caused the lines down the side of the screen, they weren't there before i tore it apart and cleaned it all up.
Well after fooling around with the phone tonight I am thinking cleaning the LCD screen with a microfiber cloth was a bad idea. Apparently they are way more fragile than I thought.
So now I need to decide if a $65 LCD and digitizer from eBay are worth the cost for a phone that may be completely trashed anyways. I am super curious to see if I can fix it, but dont want to throw money into a pit. I could get a whole G2 phone off eBay for about $200. If I even needed another phone. Which I dont.
Decisions, decisions.
Has anyone ever Resurrected a DZ from water damage? It was only a quick dip..
I placed it on a sloped plastic surface and that nice brushed aluminium backplate made it slip right off :'(
Obviously I have it battery out and with a dehumidifier but anything else to try?

I put a HTC Wildfire through the washing machine it worked fine afterwards
Take battery, sim etc apart and place in a box of rice for at least a couple of days (the longer the better I guess).
Don't attempt to switch it on until you've done this!

Got out my rice fingers crossed :L
I did not immerse, but spilled water on mine, it stopped working and would not boot, led error flashes indicated overheating and low voltage (alternating green orange flashes and orange flashes).
I tried rice but it did not work. I have now resurrected two phones by disassembling and washing the circuit boards with distilled deionised water and 99% anhydrous isopropyl alcohol (IPA).
Do not get water or IPA on the screen assembly as it will leave watermarks on the screen, dark areas. You may wnat to avoid getting IPA on the black rubberised paint that is under the top half of the keyboard section, it will make it peel off. However the phone will still work and cosmetic damage is hidden after reassembly.
I took the main motherboard and placed it in the distilled water in a tupperware container and agitiated it to rinse out any debris. I used a brush around the usb connector and battery contacts to make sure it was clean there. Then i rinsed with anhydrous IPA. I allowed the phone to dry for approx 24hr and reassembled.
My G2 decided it wanted to jump out of my hand into Multnomah Falls and was fully submerged for about 5 seconds. I fished it out and immediately took it apart. Got home and placed all the pieces in rice. Low and behold, I'm posting this message from that very same phone.

Kind of late here but here is what I did when my G2 decided to go for a swim on the sink when I as brushing my teeth.
I took off battery and put it in a bowl of rice for a few days
This worked and the phone worked for a couple of days. And then started shutting down and wouldnt boot
Got 99% alcohol and cleaned the motherboard of the phone with it. Put it back together and phone worked perfectly.
Here is the alcohol i used from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Swan-Alcohol-...1358011866&sr=8-1&keywords=99+percent+alcohol
In most of cases, electronic devices should work fine after dropping them in water.
- You have to avoid electric short cut by trying to power up your wet device.
- You have to avoid corrosion on electronic metal parts. Use alcool to clean it, or find asap a rice bowl.
Grocery white rice should remove most of the humidity in two weeks.
2 weeks ago i went out for a swim with my Xperia Z1 Compact
after i came back the phone had water droplets on both the cameras
I tried to dry it as quickly as possible during which the phone started to malfunction (the ambient light sensor stopped working, the touch screen started to do things on its own, the front camera stopped working)
And now after 2 weeks of trying to dry the phone from inside everything is back to normal
the light sensor works, the front camera works, the sound works
the only thing that doesnt work is the touch screen, i cant touch at any part of the screen
Can someone tell me what the problem might be and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance
seems like the touchscreencable is shorting out. could be because of residue liquid behind the panel.
best guess, grab a heat gun and some spudgers, remove the display assemly (look for youtube guides) and let it dry.
after that look for any dirt , clean it with isopropanol and attach it again.
1. if it works, buy a fitting self-adhesive foil and glue it back together.
2. if not, im afraid you will have to buy a new display assembly somewhere. (they are at about 75 € in germany, i dont know what it will cost you at your location.)
should be doable with a little bit of patience and about 20 $ in tools.

I'll do this and let you know if it works
Thanks
I got a very small amount of water in my M9 when I was cleaning it. Water only entered between the glass and the metal by the front facing camera. There's a small blob on my display that has been slowly spreading. I'm pretty sure it's under the backlight as I can only see it when the screen is on. I had tried warming up the phone but it did nothing other than making the blob bigger and less opaque. It's right by the SD Card Slot. Any ideas on how to get it out?
If the screen has delaminated you'll have to replace it. Place the phone in a sealed jar with a few packets of silica gel for a few days and let the gel draw the water out. If you heat or cool the water it expands and does more damage. Leave it at room temperature (19c-21c).
My guess is it's delaminated.
