[Q] Led notification in ICS and JB - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi, I own a Nexus (EU version) and I grabbed it since it was special offer...the very day i bought it I just learned how to use it, not receiving calls or text alike, so I don't know how the led notification worked under ICS. The next day I upgraded to JB, since it was available OTA. Unfortunately, since JB I could not resolve the led notification issues (text, missed calls, charging), not even trying Led Flow and other apps. Since it seems that Led Flow has a bug with JB, I ask someone to tell me how the led notifications worked (which events are notified) under ICS.
Thanks to all

[Q] Light Flow with JB

Having difficulty getting Light Flow to work on my Nexus (GSM) with JB installed. The sound is a phantom sound from before the JB install (probably from my backup).
I have disabled sound notifications for SMSes in stock Messaging app, in Handcent (which I use), and only have LF enabled sound notifications in SMS/MMS, and changed both of them to the same thing, which is something different than the noise I'm hearing.
Any ideas?
Also having difficulty with Light Flow after updating to stock Jelly Bean. It takes quite a while after booting the phone for Light Flow to appear in the status bar and none of the light notifications seem to work properly.
Is it a Jelly Bean issue and should I just wait for the app to get updated?
I didn't have sound problems with it, but I couldn't ever get the light to go away.. probably just needs to update cause it did the same thing on all the roms I've tried

Same here. I haven't been able to get Light Flow to work either, but I'm also noticing that my notification LED doesn't seem to be working AT ALL now. I'm thinking about reflashing JB to see if that fixes it, but I've tried everything short of that to see if it works and it hasn't lit at all. Not sure what's going on.
If you go check the play store it says that the issues with jelly bean are known and they are working on it.

Mine has been working great with Jelly Bean. In Accessibility make sure Light Flow is turned on. Also, here is my saved lightflow backup file if you want to try it on yours to see if it works.
I'm using Jelly Belly 3.3, did a clean install with the JB bootloader, and restored light flow and data with tibackup.
Good luck! :good:
not to be noob, but what is lightflow?

lets you change the LED colors to anything really.

LED Notification Issues

The LED notification on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus is shaky at best.
I mainly get notifications for Gmail and Google Voice texts. It seems as if it only sometimes actually work. It seems worse for the Gmail notifications, but there are many times that I pick up my phone and see that I have an email when there is no LED blinking.
I'm not sure if it just never came on or if it stops after a period of time, but what the heck is up with the LED? Why bother putting something on the phone as a feature and not having it work correctly.
I'm currently on a custom JB ROM, but it has only worked very inconsistently at stock on ICS and any of the other ROMs I've tried.
**** And yes, I know about Lightflow, but don't think we should have to use a 3rd party app to enable something that should already be working.

I am very new to my galaxy nexus but I've noticed that the LED basically only blinks for GT/whatsapp messages while for other apps/missed calls/sms it only blinks once at its very best, that's why I kind of forced myself to use lightflow. There are some custom JB roms like Liquid Jelly Bean that offer advanced LED management, you might want to try those.

Thanks!
I think I also read that the free version of LightFlow doesn't support Google Voice which is one of the main 2 notifications I get.
It's just very surprising that this feature of the phone works so poorly. And even more surprising that there aren't more people making noise about it.

I had the same problem, and I still think that LED notification isn't as good as what it should be...
If you have a custom JB ROM, I think your best option is to look for a CM10 rom, because in the screen settings, you can change the behaviour of the LED with different apps.

[Q] Light Flow MMS/SMS notifications

Is anyone else running 4.1.1 and Light Flow experiencing occasional problems with SMS/MMS LED notifications (stock messaging app)?
Most of the time (9 out of 10) the LED activates correctly, but the other 1 out of 10 times I get no LED for SMS/MMS. I have tried uninstalling, clearing cache/dalvik and reinstalling, but still having the problem. All other LED notifications for other applications function 100% correct.

on ICS using the CM built in LED control, It would fail to light up once every so often for SMS, so maybe it's just a common problem...
There is an issue with Lightflow and JB that the dev has yet to fix. I would send him an email just to make sure that he/she is aware of it.

Same exact thing going on for me.
Lightflow
I have been having a few issues with LightFlow, sometimes it will not show up, and other times it will be the wrong color. I have SMS/MMS set to red light always on, but often times it will flash white instead (which if I remember correctly is the default setting for the phone.
LightFlow is always running and active but sometimes it just doesn't want to cooperate.

Anyone on a stock (or non-CM/AOKP) ROM that can confirm if SMS/MMS LED notifications work 100% for them?
Lightflow still isn't FULLY optimized yet. To make it work properly, open the app, and then don't swipe it from the recent screen. I am too had this problem.
Happens to me as well. Sometimes the notification gets "stuck;" continuing to flash for no apparent reason.
Still, I would rather live through the small bugs then go back to native led notifications.

This is how I feel about it too, it works more than it doesn't and when it breaks it is so minor I don't lose my **** over it

[APP] Light Flow

the developer has claimed the latest version on the play store is working for rooted phones, but I still am not having the best of success. I thought I'd start a thread and see how others are fairing.
The newest version has some improvement; being able to select different colors for different notifications and actually getting them to go off when you've pulled down the notification bar. however, it doesn't blink for me at all. When i get a text or email the corresponding light is a steady constant light if the screen is asleep. If you wake it up the light either disappears or only lights up very infrequently.
I've read some posts before the latest versions came out that some users had success getting it to work by actually turning Accessibility off. This seems to turn off the entire app for me.
anyone having better luck?
I have had the current version working correctly both on a stock TW rom, and now on CM10. The flashing lights haven't been implemented yet, however he is working on it.
The only thing I had to do on the Samsung TW rom was disable Samsung TTS in the manage apps settings. Once I set it to S3 root mode, everything worked perfectly.
I suggest you follow his blog here:http://www.folioflow.com/ff/page/website/lightflow/pageId/1826

I have done all that including following the developers blog. I have accessibility on, only have the light flow notifications turned on, allowed SU access to light flow app, and have tinkered around with it all weekend but it still isn't working correctly. It works fine when the screen is on, but when the screen is off it gives a solid light.
Its not supposed to blink get, that's why I linked you to his blog.

A blinking light will kill the battery or at least use more juice. Dev did say he is looking into that feature tho
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Developer advises blinking uses more battery than solid notification. Go figure.
Since I installed Light Flow, whenever the screen is off the LED glows a faint green. First I disabled Light Flow and the led still glows green. I unchecked it under Accessibility and rebooted, still green. Just had to uninstall and reboot to get it to stop. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

I had that issue when I restored from an old version of light flow. The newest version that I installed straight from the Play Store works fine.
I believe to get other colors other than green, you need to be rooted and go into the app settings and check "S3 root mode" or whatever its called...
Works perfect for me.
EDIT: I think the updated app (as of today) should work whether your rooted or not.
The update version today also supports blinking in adjustable intervals.

You guys should just install cm10 on your phones, it already comes with notification light settings & it works perfectly :good:

I would agree with that almost fully except it's a pain setting up different notification sounds between e-mail and sms/mms. It's also nice to be able to have it make notifications at intervals from missed calls/sms and the light to go away eventually if you want.
But I do have to say, I'm on CM10 - Paranoid Android ROM(latest build) and light flow is working like a charm for me right now. Looks like the bugs have been worked out for the most part.
Hi guys.. I have an international S3 and since a recent Lightflow update, I regularly get lightflow causing wakelock for hours. even with no outstanding notifications. I've uninstalled, re-installed - same problem.
Happened 3 times this week. reboot fixes it.

[Q] Stock 4.1.1 SMS/MMS LED Notifications

For those who are running stock (or mostly) JRO03C based ROMs, do you experience any issues with LED notifications when you receive text messages?
I'm running CM10 and occasionally when I get a text, the LED will light up for a split second then turn off.

The stock LED notifications are pretty close to useless. Grab LightFlow from the market, you'll be glad you did.
I've had it happen now and then as well. Probably something not many people will even notice.

Already tried it. Something is bugged with Android or the messaging app. I'm trying to find out if the bug is in stock builds too.
No issues here.

I do notice that even with light flow. I got used to it though. Not a big problem
