I have rooted my tablet and now not able to update system. I was told that I could use OTA RootKeeper but not certain if it would work with my device. Can anyone help :crying:

I am considering rooting my GT2 which is running ICS 4.0.4. If I root it, will the OS updates pushed down from Samsung still work? If i remove the preinstalled Samsung apps, will a upgrade work? Will a upgrade put the spps back?
Thanks. James

I was actually wondering this exact same thing. I've had an OTA for a while now, but it fails during updating every time. Do I have to unroot, update, then re-root the device? My only fear is I won't be able to unroot it with the same method after an update.
Hello,
probably a stupid question for many of you, but I just want to know if there is a way to maintain the root after upgrading to Jelly Bean, or the only way to gain root access again is to flash again.
Cheers!
I just did it with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Toolkit 7.8!
Dear all,
in case someone had the same question, since I had already rooted my device, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Toolkit 7.8, rooted Jelly Bean leaving everything untouched, and all automatically!
The Toolkit is great!!!
Cheers!
I thought OTA RootKeeper or SuperSU should do the trick... :cyclops:
So I think I may be in over my head lol. I have a Nexus 7 2013 That is unlocked and WAS rooted. For some reason that is no longer the case. My main concern is that I would like to be able to update my devise but that for some reason isn't working. I am receiving the OTA updates and it says they are downloaded but when I go to install them it takes me to TWRP but nothing happens. I have read that my best bet it to just return to stock recovery. After some research I was going to just fastboot the stock recovery. I used to be able get to the bootloader through an app, but it was't working so I checked and lo and behold I am no longer rooted. Now I know I can still get to the bootloader easily enough, but now I am concerned about no longer being rooted. I have no plans on doing anything to crazy with the tablet. I would just like a stock ROM to keep OTAs and to be rooted. And I definitely do not want to have to wipe the device if possible.
If anyone could offer some advice I would really appreciate it
Device: Nexus 7 2013
Android 4.3 JSS15J
unlocked, but not rooted (apparently)
Desktop: Windows
My Tab is fairly stock (just rooted & debloated, no custom kernal/ROM). What's the easiest way to upgrade to stock lollipop without losing all my apps?
You can just flash the ROM through Kies or wait for the OTA to become available. You will lose root however and some of the bloat may come back.
Please let me know if you managed toget an OTA upgrade whilst rooted. I'm thinking of simply rooting to get TB and debloat and working OTA upgrades would be great
thanks, i'll try Kies.
I get an error when trying to OTA "device modified in unauthorized way"
Hello guys, i have 3 rooted firetvs with just TowelRoot nothing else and they are sitting on very old firmware 5.1.1.0. i did lot of research on how to get rid of the root, but haven't come to concrete decision.
1) Can someone confirm, if i just factory reset from recovery, that will remove root.
2) I also have disable the updates using the command to pm disable. Will this enable it self?
or should i keep rooted box and update them custom firmware
Please advise.
Not sure why you would want to lose root but it's up to you. I would keep root and update to custom pre-rooted update.
