bootloader deleted oooppsie wont turn on what to do - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my bootloader accidently got deleted and fire wont turn on. what to do.....

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430038
BTW...LMAO @ OOOPPSIE

ya i was doing a lot of research and i am gonna try the firekit. i have ubuntu on my other hard drive i just have to reinstall all the java and sdk stuff right now. i was trying to see if there was another way. i just made a factory cable right now.....

With Firekit, the factory cable is unnecessary.

how do i run the firekit on ubuntu 12.04 im not using the usb stick. Im still pretty stupid when it comes to the terminal commands and stuff

use this it will set up adb and fastboot on your ubuntu as well as make firekit easily launchable by typing soupkit.sh in a terminal http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850038

ya i will use that i had started reading about that i have been reading the firekit thread and all the posts. i usually like to try and read and search to fix my own problems and i usually do. its all a learning experience lol. thanks for the info

Wait, WHAT?!
I must be seeing things. For a second I thought you said, "I usually like to try and read and search to fix my own problems and I usually do.". I guess I've been staring at this screen for too long, because NOBODY does that anymore.

lol ya i know people are lazy and want everyone to do things for them. i usually wont ask for help until i need it and im lost......kinda like right now lol.... i got some life back into the kindle but it only powers up when hooked up to charger or usb.....99% positive battery it good...... i got the fff and twrp on there but it will turn on for a couple seconds then turn off...will continue to due that till i unplug it. ummm sometiime i can get the computer to reconize it but most of the time it wont. i am doing more research on the matter and trying things but would appreciate more info from you guys who know what they are doing

It seems Firekit is your only option. Firekit relies on the device being in USB bootmode to work, and that usually results in using the "shorting trick".
Luckily you still have access to the device and you'll likely be able to change the bootmode to USBboot, which should prevent you from having to pull the back cover off.
Check out Pokey9000's Firekit and Rekindle threads for more information.

also forgot to mention that the only time i can really get the computer to reconize kindle is pretty much when i short it

i had to pull the back off to get anything to happen that was how i got any life back into it. i was able to usb push the fff and twrp on it but it seems like its still a broken bootloader cause it wont stay powered on it goes on and off on and off constantly until i unplug it

Try this. With the device turned off, plug it in and hold the power button until it shuts off. Leave it alone for a few hours and see if that fixes the problem.

i did that last night and let it sit over night

im thinking its prob pretty much dead now. i cant get the light to turn on cant get anything with usbboot lol

Have you tried wiping your battery stats in recovery? I'm not sure if that would help, but it's a start.

havent been able to get it into recovery and the couple times last night i was able to it would do the twrp boot up then either go black or shut down

Are you holding the short the whole time, or just until you see it working?

i would hold the short till i saw it power up then release and it would stay powered but it would be intermitting it would be on for about4-5 seconds then turn off then turn of 4-5 seconds and thats all it would do so last night i did a hard reset to power down and left it plugged in over night... oh and last night it would automatically turn on when plugged it and only turn on when plugged in if unplugged it would not power. i know the battery was ok prior. this morning it would basically do the same then now get nothing no lights come on or anything. i can get the lights i.e green or red by grounding that light but thats it

Vibrates 7 times

I just rooted my HTC Desire and installed CM7 on it (loved it on my HTC Legend). But suddenly today, after I turned Wifi on, it started rebooting all the time, couldn't do anything to stop it. I thought "Hey, there was the radio flash thing in the tutorial that I didn't do yet, I'll try that out" so I flashed the radio. Then I chose reboot system, but it just booted to a logo with an android coming out of a trash can, and looked kinda stuck there. So I took out the battery and plugged back in. Now if I try to turn it on, it'll just vibrate 7 times - no picture or anything. Also there's no LED when I plug it to the charger.
I had those 7 vibrates too.
Happened after i flashed the cm7 hboot over my stock hboot while trying to enter recovery. After i re-flashed my recovery using fastboot, everything worked again. What happens if you try to power up while holding down vol- ? Did you use fastboot or your phones recovery mode to install the radio?
I am not able to start in recovery or anything. I tried vol. down + power and back + power and no matter what I try, it just vibrates 7 times. I used the recovery mode to install the radio.
You could try to connect your phone via usb and check if fastboot discovers your device. If yes, flash hboot and recovery using fastboot. If not, well... i dont have a clue. Sorry :/
Computer discovers nothing when I plug in the phone.

For the record to help some of you out who ended up here Googling: I had a similar issue. My HTC Desire SV did not boot, and when charging, only had an orange flashing light, and the phone vibrated 7 times. I did 2 things that got it back up:
1) left the phone off for say 10 minutes (I read about overheating issues in general, although the phone did not feel hot).
2) removed the battery for a couple of minutes.
VERY IMPORTANT: for step 2: make sure to have the battery removed long enough to drain internal charge. I removed and installed the battery in a second or so at first, and still the phone did not boot. After leaving out the battery long enough, it booted again. It appears to me that the issue in my case was a rather big internal charge capacity which kept internal state (memory and/or CPU?) from booting. Hope this helps...

[Q] Bricked One X - Help.

Ok, so I was fed up of waiting for T-Mobile to deliver the 1.28 update. Decided to unlock the bootloader and flash a new rom that is based off of 1.28.
SO:
1) I unlocked bootloader
2)flashed CM 5.8.31
3)nandroid backup
4)this is where it went wrong. tried to use insertCoin it said you need to manually flash boot. img so i fastboot flash boot boot.img
5)then i booted into recovery and tried to install the rom, it failed ( i dont think it finished copying oops) do i try to restore from nandroid.
6) just gets stuck on htc quietly brilliant.
Help Please ( ANy Advice would be brilliant..)
im worried my phone is gonna run out of battery aswell
First, you can charge your device in the HTC brilliant screen.
Second, unlock your phone and put 1.26 recovry and then run the original RUU..

Thanks i just noticed it was charging at the brilliant screen.
Also how?
i have just downloaded to original TMO_UK RUU and was just going to flash the boot.img
EDIT: Downloading (is taking forever)
Hi -
Im in the exact same situation as you right now.
I am attempting to follow this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599748
It has the directions.
After you download the RUU you need to click on it and wait a minute till its running.
After this (and this is where I am stuck) you need to go to start menu and search
%temp% and some folders should show up. Somewhere in this folder is supposed to be a file called Rom.zip
I cant seem to find a rom.zip though. If you do please let me know where???
Thanks and I hope this helps. Scary 650 dollar phone and I cant get it to boot back up. I only blame myself... But apparently this can be fixed.

OP -
I dont want it to seem like Im hijacking your thread but I figured I would post in here since we both have the same problems. Hoping we can work through this together.
2 major issues as of now -
1) I could not find the rom.zip file.
2) My phone is now dead and I cant get it back to the HTC brilliant screen. It always boots into fastboot mode.
How can I get my phone to boot into HTC screen to charge it? Has anyone had this issue.
Any help would be soo apreciated...
Hope you have luck, my biggest issue is that i dont run windows, im going to have to stick the ruu on a usb stick when it finally finishes downloading. and take it to my girlfriends laptop to fix long
Also i wouldnt worry about it booting straight to fastboot.. that happened to me when i relocked to bootloader with:
fastboot oem lock
just fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin (or whatever the file is)
and it should just hang at htc again..
Thanks -
and yes I did relock.
I just unlocked again but it still boots into fastboot. Although I now have clockwork recovery.
I ran the nandroid backup again that I had made. This time when I powered down the phone actually stays off.
If the phone is completely off with the red light on does this mean that its charging again? or does it have to be on the HTC screen? Im scared to touch it again as Im hoping its charging.
Also - does anyone know if the software prompt that pops up when you run the RUU file do the same thing as running the command lines? I ran it earlier to confirm that my battery was indeed under 30 percent.
I just cant find the rom.zip file for some bizzare reason.
.... i left mine in fastboot accidently whilst i was waiting for RUU now it is not turning on at all.. what do i do
EDIT: situation has changed plugged it into power rather than pc and it is back on
also jfrock.. how long did the rru take you to download! im anxious to get this working again
OK jfrock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616741
download that..
flash the correct boot.img file 126 /128
fastboot flash boot <filename>
this should fix your nandroid backup as the restore doesnt actually restore the boot.img i dont think
i am now having trouble flashing my insertcoin rom it is saying it cannot open it and (bad)
Thanks Buddy! Downloading now.
I took a break to clean my apartment to get my mind off things.
Im back now will let you know how things go.

The Rom took a long time. It said it was going to be hours so I let it run last night and went to bed. Im not sure how long it was though as I was sleeping.
---------- Post added at 08:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:56 PM ----------
so it said that I didnt have enough charge to run it. I ran the restore stock recovery to get it to charge whille off. Now I can turn the phone off even on USB and it stays off with red light on so I think its charging again. I could be wrong. I guess that I will just have to wait a few hours and find out.
Editing this to say battery is now charging. I tried to let it charge before while in Clockwork Recovery. Fell asleep watching tv. When I woke upit was dead again. Ran battery check with the link you provided it was at 2 percent.
I turned it off again and plugged it into the wall. Let it charge for 30min and then ran battery check. Its now at 19percent!!!! I have never been so excited to see a battery charge.
One step at a time I guess. Its going to be a few hours or more to get this back up enough to do anything with it.
I will report back later.
dam! its dead again. Walked over light was off checked battery and its back to 0. Starting to think Im never going to get my phone working again.
Back up to 13 percent. I think whats happening is every once in a while the Red Light goes off for some reason while charging and then drains the battery.
Im checking on it every 15min or so by booting into fastboot. Run battery check in CWM then reboot into fastboot. Shutdown and plug back in wall.
Why on earth it wants to discharge the battery after charging for a little while is beyond me.
It worked!!!!!
It was saying battery to low to flash the 1.28 boot.img.
So I ran the 1.26 and that worked. Then I powered off and entered fastboot again then ran the 1.28.
Success!!! Phone is now fully booted and charging.
Now, do I dare try to continue to flash a new Rom in the morning when Im at 100percent.
Thanks you so much to pointing me in the right direction Its beyoned appreciated.

Hi
I have the same problem as you have , but i cannot unlock it back agin it has not enough battery to do so ,
So now it turn to bootloader "relocked" and cannot flash anything because battery is not enough ,
Is there any way to charge it ??? PLZ HELP
wont tuch HTC ever again
Try every thing , this phone belongs to the garbage
Just threw 700$ to the trash
If your battery is too flat to flash a new recovery via fastboot, and you're stuck with the old reovery what doesn't charge when the power is off or in bootloader/recovery, you're in a bit of a pickle.
The battery should still charge for the few seconds between when you power on and when it enters the bootloader, so you will just need to keep rebooting it over and over while plugged in until your battery is back up to over 30%.
A few people ahve reported this method to work. Personally, I haven't tried it, but it's worth a shot.
I have put a rubber band on the power button and pluged it to the charger for
3 hours , it turn on and off constantly but of course it stiil empty , do not think it will work
even if i will live it like this for 48 houers , but i will try , dose someone try this ?
you need to do it quickly and manually. Holding down the button doesn't tuen it off for 10 seconds each time and that uses more power than what it's getting in the few seconds of charge each cycle.
If it wasn't working, it would be completely flat by now.
---------- Post added at 05:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:24 PM ----------
I wonder has anyone tried charging via the dock pins in this state?
I understand you , it have stay on bootloader for 3 second until it turn off and on the briliant screen for 3 second also , now i have put another rubber band on the + volume ,so it stay on the briliant screen for 3 second and turn off after 0.5 second on the boot screen , I hope ...

Can't do anything at all

This may sound stupid and it might have already been asked befor but idk what else to try. So I had my kindle rooted and had a coustom rom on it and I wanted to change roms. So I went to wipe the system and do factory reset/wipe data and the batery died and when I finally turned it back on I wasn't able to get into twrp at all so I tried doing fastboot and acouple other thing and now I don't know how but I'm not even able to turn it on and I've let it sit on the charger for almost a day. I'm fairly good with computers but I just can't figure out what to do.
Thank you for the help ahead of time and any reply at all would be great
Plz read this carefully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638452
so u need to use Kindle Fire Utilities to change to fastboot mode and use fastboot commands to copy bootloader & recovery into the device. good with computers is not enough if u dont read the manual thoroughly. I started only 4 weeks ago and faced many problems but searching & reading solved most cases.
gud luck with ur device.
I have already read through all of that so im going to try firekit in the morning

Er... if it's really a battery issue, you need to read this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623244
Hopefully, you have FFF 1.4a installed and it can put you into the low battery charge mode. Use USB power from your computer to do this. Some members have also mentioned that plugging in a power source then forcing the device off (by pressing and holding the power button until it powers down) will charge it enough for it to boot completely. At that point, the system software should be able to charge it the rest of the way.
@dumber89 - Kudos to you for doing it right... it's good to see new blood helping themselves to the material out there. :good:
My case is that I hv to replace the bootloader and recovery with latest ones. it was bricked once or twice but I had similar experiences with Symbian so I didnt panic n read ur manual carefully. It's lucky for us that the ROM cant be malfunctioned easily.
Most important thing for newbies like me, I think, is to be patient.

Just got Factory Cable from SKORPN, now what? Lol

I believe im having the "5 second bootloop" problem, no idea why since my KF was never rooted, flashed, or modified in any way. I plugged the Micro B in the KF (KF was off) and then plugged the Type-A end into my PC, the KF turned on in like 10 seconds (maybe less) and it isn't doing the bootloop anymore which i guess is a good thing but its been like 10 minutes and it still just says kindle fire (with a green light on the bottom). What should I do from here for my specific situation? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!
edit: just wanted to add that before when i would plug it in, it would keep rebooting and usually not even get to the slide to unlock screen, but sometimes it would and then instantly reboot again.
First off...what bootloader do you have installed?
How could I find out? I never modified it if that helps? So it should be stock everything.
also i downloaded KFU and installed the drivers, but it does not recognize my device, altho when i first plugged it in after installing the drivers it said kindle in Device Manager, since it didnt go anywhere i unplugged the kindle and turned it off, when i tried again it installed ADB, but still doesnt recognize it (it also prompted me to restart, which i did right before i posted this reply, and still not recognized, also still at the kindle fire screen with green light on)

well i managed to fix it by just factory resetting it with no help AT ALL
Very likely the factory reset had nothing to do with it. Just simply having it plugged in via USB may have given it enough time to charge. Questions of this nature are best handled in q & a not in development.

I wasnt trying to be offensive lol I was just proud to figure it out with NO HELP AT ALL! Battery icon flashes on, then device turns off

I had been running stock on my factory refurb device I got in Sept and thought it's time to look at running a 8.x ROM - downloaded stock, Pixel Dust, TWRP 3.2.0. Flashed stock, did enough setup to enable USB, fastboot the twrp.img, installed the twrp zip - and I can't recall now clearly, as it was last night, but I think at that point I restarted to recovery and then adb pushed the PD zip to the Download folder, then rebooted. The screen never came back on. I tried a few things last night and no change, called Google, got told i was just past warranty long enough for them not to be able to help me. This morning for ****s and giggles I hit the power button and I see the battery icon flash on, for maybe 2-3 seconds and then shuts off. The only other thing I've seen is a red light one time while plugging it into the computer to see if I could see it with fastboot or adb during that 2-3 second battery image.. No go.
Not sure where to go next, last night I thought it might be a dead system board, now I'm confused.
Thanks
Boot into the invisible bootloader. Terminal or command console type "fastboot continue" that's the only thing I can think of to help. GL
Also if you successfully get into the invisible bootloader you'll feel a vibration with pwr+voldown

Thanks - it turns on, shows the battery icon, then turns off. Not much I can do.. I'm not sure if I screwed up and killed the bootloader or not - took it to a repair shop to see what they say. I've never not been able to resurrect a phone since I've started messing with ROMs in.. must have been 2006? (Cingular 8125)
Oh well, I have a backup Vernee Mix 2 that I guess I'll use for a bit and maybe wait until the next Google phone is out in the fall
Thanks
