Hi Developers,
I have a Defy (orginally came with Froyo, Green Lens). I am running CM10, Kernal Version "2.6.32.9-gbdd614e". Initially the problem started when I was upgrading to a ICS version by wiping my data and cache. I wasnt able to do that and for some reason I wasnt able to restore via RSD. Hence I used Defy+ SBF file. It worked. Now everything was fine but whenever I tried flashing Kernal (No matter what it is CM7, CM9 and Kernal-Froyo-222-179-4-signed), I was getting this error below :
Bootloader
09.10
Err:A5,70,00,00,23
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
The only way then was to again flash it with RSD defy+ stock ROM. I am running Jellybean by directly flashing the ROM and not flashing the Kernal. The camera has stopped working since then and no matter now what ROM I flash it with the camera wont work. I have tried ICS, GB, Froyo.
I dont know if the info is still enough or not but if you can help me that will be a great help.
You flashed Defy+ SBF on your Defy, no cam for you.
You'll never get your camera back. You should've never flashed a defy+ sbf on green lens defy. It's well documented in relevant threads.

I didnt have any other option at that time as it was not accepting any SBF i try to flash it with. However when I first flashed the Defy+ stock ROM the camera was working. It stopped when when I flashed it with Jellybean ROM.
same problem partially solved

Hello, well, same problem - same defy green lens - after many reflashes...I only made it work with defy+ sbf. In this way, the only rom that enabled camera was CM10 4.1.2 2.boot. So camera fully worked again, no problem. BUT when trying to get WIUI for better performance, I lost the functionality of the camera again. So - in my opinion - camera WILL NOT DIE - (burn) only it becomes not functional in some software environment. SO, this is a DEV' s problem to be solved.

Root BL7 - it need special instruction - it's in General or in Developement section - don't remember. Since you flash BL7 sbf on green lens - no hope with camera on stock roms, last hope is - 2ndboot based roms with custom kernel: WIUI 4, CM10/9/7(maniac last builds)..

Hi,
I (foolishly) tried to upgrade to Telstra Defy (build #JRDNEM_U3_2.26.0) to Pays-Rom ([ROM] Pays-ROM Defy v5.1 Froyo with Ginger feeling [3.4.3-11 based!]). I played with it briefly, couldn't get Clockwork Recovery (defy version) to run, and so wanted to go back to the original Telstra soft (from http://and-developers.com/sbf:defy)
I've used RSD Lite to restore that telstra soft before (from Chinese froyo) and it worked fine. However, when I do it now (after having used RSD to apply the 3.4.3-11 Motorola SBF from this thread ) then I get a blank screen - not even a Moto logo - when I try to boot (like this guy I think).
I reflashed back to the 3.4.3-11 Motorola SBF and the phone is booting happily again. However, I don't really want to be stuck on this - particularly since I can't actually get System Recovery (i.e. Clockwork Recovery) to go so can't seem to install Pays-Rom.
The magic question is: by upgrading to 3.4.3-11 from the Pays-Rom pack, have I removed my ability to go back to my original rom? If not, can anyone think what I may be doing wrong with my downgrade to kill the phone?
Cheers.
Was asking why system recovery was not working - answer was because I had failed to disable USB debugging. Oops. Main problem remains though.
If you flashed a full SBF, then you can't go back to 2.1. It's not bad as you think, since 2.2 in every country is about to be released. When this happens you will need only a nandroid backup...

I have done a similar thing, flashed 3.4.2_155-002 and now cant downgrade back to the default Telstra rom. Not to concerned at the moment as I am using Color ROM from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021742. It is based on this SBF, 3.4.2-155-2 deblur. Just follow the installation instructions and you should have no trouble. Very fast and deblurred. every thing works fine on my Defy, including clockwork recovery.
Only problem I may have is not being able to downgrade to stock if the phone has to go back to telstra for anything.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
Hi,
I have first a problem. I was with CM9 when I upgraded to the new nightly from today. Now I can't get through Googlerola logo. 2nd Init works but not the rest. Do you now from where does it comes ?
Then, I have a normal Defy. Can I put Defy+ battery in it ?
Thanks
The Hunt33r
Wipe dalvik and wipe cache
Motorola Defy CM7 RC 1.5 OC 1GHz
Already done it.
I tried to get to the Defy+ stock rom and then go to CM9 but didn't work
I flashed Nordic 2.2 and now my defy doesn't go on, he stays with the white led on. When i flashed it it was already as it , but I had like full battery --"
You flashed stock defy+?? You cant downgrade now to froyo..
Try this if you flashed 2.3.4
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14762402&postcount=143
And try Quarx's cm9 with froyo kernel
Or flash the stock again and try the Epsylon3 cm9 with gb kernel.
Motorola Defy CM7 RC 1.5 OC 1GHz
Does it come from there that I cannot open my phone. He don't even boot. Just has white led on
wipe and use the 2.2 foryo
defy and defy+ can use one bettery. and the new bettery can give you phone more use time
The problem is that my phone doesn't go on. He stays off, with the white led shining. Maybe it comes from the fact that I flashed 2.2 and I was with Defy+ 2.3 before
If you followed the procedure, and you was on 2.3.4, not 2.3.6, the fixed froyo must work! (fixed because the CG31 and CG39 are not in the sbf, so the CG version that the eFuse accept is not modified), can you enter to the bootloader??
Nope, the phone is always off, whatever I do. He is only recognized by RSD Lite in a friend's laptop :-(
I will try to flash my previous rom (DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1_134) but even with this rom I could not install CM9
Ok, so here´s the deal:
I´ve recently got myself a Defy+ after my regular defy was stolen (no tracking software watsoever =/).
Since a lot of people told me the defy+ was just a red lens defy, i´ve thought that the same methods used for one were valid for the other.
Since it came with 2.3.4, I´ve just rooted it and installed 2nd Init. No problems until there.
The problem is: every single custom ROM I´ve tried installing through custom recovery (clockwork mod) gives me a bootloader error. I´ve tried CM7 and CM9.
It locks on the bootloader screen with the error, and won´t even let me get into recovery mode. Every time I have to restore a full sbf (only one I found to work), root, install 2nd init and then restore a backup from the original firmware I made.
Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?
Did you try a Defy+ specific CM? Like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445259
It has been reported that custom ROMs don't always play well with Defy+, and development on Defy+ is not as great as on Defy (due to its age). This should get better with time, look for CM9 and beyond.
i have tried this out and it has been working with battery charging to100% and camera also working.no 720p video tho.also has a few problems with cellular network reception.
After installing the init 2nt you can enter the boot loader?
You did a wipe data / cache after installing the new ROM?
You can post the error? photo ...
I had been led to believe that you could not go back to 2.3.4 from 2.3.6. After the problems with my sms contacts here I decided to try and flash a different ROM, first CM7.2 with fixes by shark107 got stuck on the red M logo at the boot screen, tried reflashing and clearing everything. Couldn't sort it so went to recover to MS2Ginger Lite. Accidentally selected the backup for the stock ROM on the 2.3.4 and to my surprise recovered and seems to be working just fine.
Have I entirely misunderstood the concept of not being able to go back from 2.3.6 or is this a little unusual?
2.3.6 can not downgrade only if you flash the full sbf file.
Sent from my awesome Moto Defy: Rooted Gingerbread 2.3.6 - XDA Premium
Right, so I flashed MS2Ginger Lite 2.0 for Defy+. This included flashing the "fixed" sbf supplied by walter79. In Settings>About Phone it then showed Android 2.3.6 instead of 2.3.4 which is what was on it when I got it. I then had troubles with the contacts and SMS so tried flashing another ROM (CM7.2 fixed for Defy+). This got stuck in a boot loop so I went to restore back to Ginger Lite but mistakenly selected my original ROM nandroid.
On another note I have now flashed MS2Ginger 2.1 deblur for Defy+ (working just fine) and Settings>About Phone is now showing Android 2.3.4 and Model Number as MB525 NOT MB526 as it should be????
I've obviously got a lot to learn about all this Android lark. I'm a carpenter so I'm much more used to fixing things by hitting them with a big hammer, I doubt this will help my situation at the moment though.
Hi
I have a weird problem with my Defy running MIUI 2.4.13, everything that's hwa related (games, videos, internet browser) is laggy (frame skipping, jittery)
I've tried overclocking to 1.2GHz and installing Chainfire3D drivers and plugins - still nothing changes.
Is there a way to fix this - or is it just how this rom works ?
Thanks for any help.

That ROM run perfectly except GPS. Even on HTC desire GPS is not doing like on stock. Weird. But everything else must run even better then on stock. You did something wrong.
No need to overclock, something is going on that it should not.
Well.. what cloud I do wrong ?
I rooted the phone,
installed cwm,
cleared data, cache, davlink
installed miui zip from sd
Maybe the main thing is that I did not flash ?
I mean should I ?
I got my phone out of the box, right after closing the android welcome tips screen, I've rooted it and installed 2init.
On my previous defy I remember flashing an sbf before installing any roms... - could this be the case ?

No ,you don't have to flash an SBF unless you bricked your defy
I had your problem with GPS and i remember searching in market for gps state or fix
You have 2 solution you should try :
Recomended 1- Flash the newest rom from WajkIUI or Pikachu and i assure to you that you will enjoy your Defy like never before :
A- Pikachu : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498843
B- WajakIUI : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161110
2- You will find a GPS.config for most countries in Defy General forum but i don't remember where
I hope i helped even a little
thanks after flashing wiui - all my problems are gone
glad to see it solved
