[Q] Kindle Fire rooted charger port broken

I have my kindle fire rooted running TWRP recovery and stock software and my charger port is broken and won't charge the kindle or connect to the computer. Now, heres my problem i ordered a replacement unit. Will amazon fine me the 200 dollars cause i have a custom recovery in it because i couldn't go back to stock cause the port is broken. So any suggestions kindle fire community?
I had similar problems charging, sometimes my kindle would refuse to start charging, i found that a hard reset always fixed the problem. Before sending back the kibdke, try this and see if it helps, if not, you could have a problem. Amazon considers rooting of the kindle, a void of warranty, and thus, if your kindle is messed up, you will have to pay in full.

You can use air Droid to transfer the stock rom onto your kindle. Then go back to stock if you need to return it to Amazon.

I can't do a hard reset cause the battery is dead. I have been tempted to open the kindle up and put another kindle battery in it with a full charge (I have a second kindle full battery) and somehow restore to stock. Will amozon know if I opened it up. (don't see a warranty void if removed sticker anywhere)

[Q] Kindle Fire wont boot after using KF utility

I have bricked my Kindle Fire I think. I have only just spotted the "read this before you do anything to prevent bricking kindle fire permanetly" thread in general.
I have run the utility then installed the drivers. Then connected my kindle fire to my PC using a factory cable. I boot the kindle and it went into fast boot mode. I then ran option 2 on the kindle fire utility 0.9.6 - install permanent root with super user. Some text went across the window on the PC then it said it was rebooting the kindle.
I waited 10 minutes but nothing happened so I disconnected the fire from the cable.
Now it wont even power on. I have tried the power button for 20 seconds and that doesn't help.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it a dead loss!
Ed
Do you have to have this "factory cable" in order to root the device?

These suggestions will likely not work. Your symptoms are typical of modifying a 2nd generation device.

That is if it is in fact a second gen. device.
Do you remember the version of os on the kindle??? If it was over 6.3 then it most definatly was a 2nd gen if you don't have that info then do you know when the kindle was originally purchased? ?? 2nd gen kindle fires were not released until october of 2012 so if it was originally bought from amazon after that date chances are its a 2nd gen fire and although they can be rooted custom recovery and roms are a bit sketchy at this time as the bootloaders are locked tighter than fort knox

Need Help, dont know where to start

Just before christmas i won a kindle fire in work in a raffle and give it to the wife to use but for about 2 weeks it hasnt move off the shelf and i was about to sell it until a mate told me to root it.
I have no experience at all in this and have always used apple and never done anything with my iphone either.
I have been reading through this forum for about a week and am totally lost in knowing where to start or even if the kindle is safe to root as i dont know if it is a 1 or a 2.
When i set it all up for her i left everything as standard to keep it simple for her to use and the software has updated automaticly and is now running 10.2.6 but i dont know what it started on.
Any help would be appriciated or if its a lost cause it will be on ebay next weekend.
Thanks.
That's a 2nd gen Kindle

[Q] Kindle Fire 2nd gen charging problem

Hi guys. First off let me say that I'm really sorry that my first post here is one asking for help but I have read over the forums and several other places and I'm totally stuck. Here is the issue. I have a 2nd gen Fire (not rooted) that just will not charge. I have replaced the usb port twice thinking that it was just a bad jack the first time but it didn't get me anywhere. Everything else works fine. The pc sees it. I can transfer files to it with no problems. The indicator says that it is charging but the battery just keeps going down even when it's plugged in and in sleep mode. I have tried multiple chargers that I know work even the rapid charger(9v) gets it nowhere. I have a second kindle that I have used to check the battery so I know it isn't the problem. Also something of note is that no matter what charger I am using at the time the Kindle still reports that it's a "low power charger". Like I said the Kindle thinks that it's charging but it isn't. I have tried rebooting and factory restore several times but it's getting me nowhere. Any help with this would be very much appreciated. Thanks
Wrong forum.
I've requested that this be moved to Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting
but you should post current system version to be sure what kindle you have.

I'm sorry about that. I didn't realize that I put this in the wrong section. It's a D01400 running 10.4.8_D026_4848320. Thank you very much for your response.

i pretty sure that D01400 (or D01E) is original Kindle Fire
if it still will boot up
look at the serial number - Settings > More > Device.
D01E------Kindle Fire 1st Gen
D026------Kindle Fire 2nd Gen
D025------Kindle Fire HD 7" 16GB
D059------Kindle Fire HD 7" 32GB
B0C9------Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 16GB
B0CA------Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 32GB
B0CB------Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G LTE 32GB
B0CC------Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G LTE 64GB
---------- Post added at 02:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:11 PM ----------
you can see from software version that it is D026------Kindle Fire 2nd Gen
maybe something on the board is bad? Or the battery itself, but i don't think the charging status should report a low power charger when the battery is bad but i have never had to chagne the battery out to find out. It does this on other roms besides the stock os?

@ sd_Shadow
Thank you for pointing that out. I honestly never knew thats how you can tell the difference between first and second gen. I always looked at the charging port but thats not exactly fool proof.
@stunts513
The battery seems to be good since I'm able to take it out and charge it in my wife's kindle. I have never tried any other roms. I have been trying to keep this one stock but if changing the rom might help I would be willing to do it.
I just noticed something else that seems very odd to me. Yesterday afternoon I shut it down completely (hold the power button for 20 seconds) while connected to the 9v charger and checked on it again after about 5 hours and it did manage to put a %66 charge on it. I shut it down using the regular os prompt and left it plugged in over night while I was at work. When I got home this morning and booted it up (mind you this is after 9 hours) it was still at %66. I just tried a hard shut down again a little while ago and I'm going to check on it again in about an hour to see if this means anything or was just a fluke. Thanks a lot for your responses guys. I really do appreciate it.
