Need a little help getting rid of the yellow triangle after I added custom recovery to my rooted stock rom. I know threads like this exist but I'm not that great at searching for them. I hope I don't ruin anybodies day by asking for a solution to this.

Triangle Away takes care of the problem. Well worth the 2.49 price but can be had for free.
So my question is did you get it fixed? No more triangle. Also to let you know if you flash kernels via mobile Odin it won't mess with the binary counter. So you don't have to worry about the yellow triangle.

I have a usb jig to solve that issue
OP has found Triangle away and fixed his problem. Another quick and dirty solution to removing the yellow triangle (however it won't reset the binary counter, it'll still show in download mode) is to just flash an odin one-click. Any will do, I've found that removes yellow triangle too.

I've just used Triangleaway and it successfully reset my counter but the Yellow Triangle symbol remains during Download mode. Is there something i can do?
Im on a rooted but otherwise stock SG3 bought just Friday. I need to get it replaced after i discovered black stripes on my screen.

I believe Download mode is suppose to have the big yellow triangle, even after triangle away. Even if you phone is bone stock no root.the triangle is there.

yup its supposed to be there. the triangle it refers to in its name is actually from the S2 as they see a triangle on every boot. for us its just a counter reset

Thanks for the reply guys. I just got back from Sprint Store with my replacement. They don't really even look at it but i wanted to be careful, Although it did say modified in device setting even after flashing a stock firmware, But oh well.
I rooted my Note II today.. no triangle even though I have super user after following the CF-Root guide. When I rooted my s2, it had a triangle and I had to remove it with a jig. Am I missing something here?
I think the triangle is gone, the jig is no longer useful on note 2. Also, in your settings, about device, it says MODIFIED. Its game over man
Dl Triangle Away, see if it says 0
It will tell you what your flash count is
is triangle away safer than it used to be? Heard it was bricking phones last i checked..
Don't know, no reason to use it
I dont think it works, at least not on my device. Did it twice and still shows 1 count and modified.
AOk so I was attempting to root my Sisters gs3 (us, T-mobile) and I bricked it but luckily I still can unbreakable it. I'm currently downloading the firmware file for my specific device so using Odin all will be fine but I recently found out that Samsung devices such as the Samsung Galaxy s 3 keeps track of how many times you flash or even root the device. Now I still want my sis to have her warranty so I can easily unroot her s3 is there a way reset the binary counter with out having to knock the bootloader?

+1 on TriangleAway. it is very effective piece of script and money well spent.
here is my suggestion based on my experience.
after you run TriangleAway, go into download mode. you will see something like this;
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-T999
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No (If you didn't run TriangleAway, you will see this as "Yes [# Count] ")
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
in order to completely unroot and return for warrenty,
1) Run TriangleAway to reset Binary counter to "0"
2) Flash Official firmware for your S3 via Odin (this will reset your current Binary to "Official" instead of "Custom"
3) go into stock recovery (official stock firmware recovery) and do Factory reset and wipe Cache. (this will reset your system status to "Official" instead of "Custom"
easy as 1,2,3... I hope this help..

For about the same price as the Triangle away you can buy a JIG on eBay for less than $3.00 shipped.
That not only put's the phone into download mode but as soon as you are in download mode
you can unplug it and restart the phone and there will be no more triangle.
With the jig there is no need to install any apps of any kind.

USB jig doesn't reset the counter on the s3. Triangle away is the best option. It's free on xda. But supporting the developer is definitely worth doing.
Take it back to T-Mobile. Play dumb. Make sure everything is back to stock of course. If the phone won't turn on at all and you're sure its not a battery, even better. They will overnight a new phone to you. Done and done. No hassling with a jig. Just sleep and wake up and your phone will drop out of the sky via FedEx.
+Cool story, bro!
+If I've helped, hit the "Thanks" button. It's free!

Of course it resets the binary counter, I have had a jig for over 3 years now.
I have a S3 and had it for over a year now and nothing is as easy as using
a jig for resetting the counter or just getting the phone into download mode.

Can someone please help me!!!!! I received a new Note 2 from Tmobile and have to return my other one. I rooted it and I used triangle away but when I look it still says I have 1 count and custom. I trianged away again then I unrooted the phone and went to odin mode and flashed back to stock. I had to go through all the updates to make it current. I check the binary counter and it said 0 count and official. So I unmounted my sd card and removed it and did a factory reset to clear all my phone contacts and info. Well when I did that my phone got stuck in boot load. I took the battery out and pushed the home volume down and power buttons. I get a binary count of one and custom. What did I do wrong? I can't afford to pay $150.00 for this phone. How do I keep the binary count to 0 and official?

Try asking in the note 2 q&a thread instead of the galaxy s3 thread.

so I used cf auto root to root my phone a while back . still on stock rom , still on stock recovery . .. simply rooted and thts it . now my flash counter says 4 and when I use triangle away to make it 0 again . it doesn't work . binary still says custom . while system says official . I need help figuring out why triangle away isn't allowing me to reset my counter even tho I'm on stock recovery and rom . thanks in advance

Because you're still rooted that's why binary is "custom". Once you have used Triangle Away, go into SuperSu app and do full unroot. That still restore stock binary and remove SuperSu app.

I am c&p my post in this thread also in case your other inquiry gets deleted in this thread here:

"I thought this questioned looked familiar. You started your own thread with the same question in the Q&A forum here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...5#post45450945
With the above being said, and considering the steps you have already taken, including maybestuff ddone you haven't mentioned, I'd suggest the following:
- Use ODIN and install the Samsung Stock Firmware
- Use ODIN to install CF-AUTO-ROOT by Chainfire
- Install Triangle Away, and be very careful how you use it, as per Triangle Away thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...5#post45450945
I mention the above because you have already used TA unsuccessfully two times
The first-time as per your other thread about the same topic, you used Triangle Away without having stock recovery.
The 2nd time which has been unsuccessful as per this thread.
Incorrectly using Triangle Away, as per the thread linked above, can HARD BRICK your device which only Jtag can fix! You should consider yourself very lucky so far, and please read the above thread about using Triangle Away thoroughly to help you avoid issues.
This is why I'm suggesting these steps so you are starting with a fresh slate, and to help avoid further issues, which will end up saving you much time troubleshooting and posting multiple threads about the same topic
So to continue:
- After using Triangle Away, go into:
SuperSU
Settings
Full unroot and follow the steps.
After the above, you will:
- have your device fully stock, just as it came out of the box when new.
- check your device to make sure everything is stock - -
--enter into stock recovery by powering down device, pressing Power and Vol down buttons at the same time. Press Vol up button and check the settings in Bootloader including the status and binary count
--Power on device by holding Power button for 10s and check Setting/About device and make sure it doesn't say Modified towards the bottom.
I'll copy this answer in your other thread in case one gets deleted"

Make sure you have ur variants STOCK recovery and STOCK kernel when you use triangle away, and it should read 0 if done correctly.

Does TA confirm binary was reset?
I thought Bootloader should say 0 after you reset it, but confirm this in the TA thread.
If TA confirms reset, Unroot and check Bootloader.
Or run TA again, and see what it says regarding Bootloader binary counter.
I'll test this if someone can shoot me the stock recovery, I'm not going to flash stock rom with odin.
I'm looking for a working method to remove yellow triangle, triangle away doesn't work and I can't find a working link to the EG30 pulled tar. Anybody got any ideas let me know, thanks
