Need some root help - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Im attempting to root my KF cuz i seriously hate the stock interface. I installed the drivers, plugged the kindle in, launched the run app and i cant get my PC to recognize my fire as "online". Ive restarted the laptop, the kindle Im out of ideas.
What really angers me is I was about to do it this morning and had to run out of the house and now better than to leave a root operation un watched so i left it plugged in and when I came home my GF had unplugged everything so she could finish reading her book.
Any ideas on where to start to get it back "oneline"?

Do you have a Mac you can use?

What OS are you running?
Hello,

That will give us a better idea of where to start.
Thank you,

Help with root? Exploit says phone isnt found but usb is connected

Hello everyone, before I say anything I want to apologize in advance if this is the wrong area of the forums for me to be posting this, but I'm kind of in a rush so I thought I'd ask some pro's 'cus I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. Anyway..
I just got my Samsung Epic replaced because it was screwing up, and I came home today and tried rooting it. I actually just got finished spending almost two hours trying to find out where I was going wrong, but came up with nothing. I downloaded the samsung drivers 32 bit for this hp mini lap top and installed them. I got the one click root exploit, extracted etc... So I run the exploit and when it says waiting for my phone to reconnect, it waits 60 seconds and says root could not be obtained after 60 seconds, make sure your phone is connected and try again if adb shell isn't root, reboot phone and run the script again or something like that. No matter what I do it ends up saying that my phone isn't connected but on my phone it clearly says that the usb is connected.
I don't know if this is common or not, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming your phone is on 2.3.5 gingerbread so oneclickroot doesn't work. You'll need to odin in a custom kernel and then odin in a custom recovery ie. Clockwork Mod or Acs Recovery. Once that's done just flash a custom Rom or just flash a superuser.zip. if you don't know how to do this search qbking on youtube best tutorials around.

[Q] Kindle with no OS

I have a kindle fire with no OS, it has TWRP recovery and I was trying to wipe android 4.0 from it and re install 6.2.2 but I accidentally deleted the OS and any hope of re installing it. I cannot communicate with the device whatsoever using kindle utility or Kindle fire unbricker. I played with the drivers for awhile in device manager to no avail. it currently sits in 'Disk Drives' as Amazon Kindle USB device but I cannot put anything on it because it it's showing up as a proper driver or w/e. when I turn it on I get what I believe is the firefirefire triangle and if I choose to I can access TWRP, but when I left it fully boot I get a black lighting. Any help is extremely appreciate. I did look around for a bit before posting my question and found nothing that fit my problem but if there is such a thread I'm sorry I posted an unnecessary one.
have you tried mounting your kindle in twrp if you can then just flash a new ROM and you should be good to go

I thought I already tried that but I went back and fiddle with a few settings and got access to my kindle, I went looking for the kindle 6.2.2 stock rom and couldn't find a download, I need to find a stock download because brother plans on selling this kindle, I'm only helping because I was the one who rooted and put android 4.0 on there.
TLR; Where can I get kindle fire stock rom at?
One does not simply delete an entire OS.... ;~;

Lol one does simply delete an entire is. I made this same mistake and had to push a is to my kindle while in fastboot mode through adb. Took awhile for me to think of it but it finnally worked and I fixed it.

OK, My command prompt can't find my kindle fire as listed devices. I really need help! Plus, there is no exclamation point (!) all it lists is the Android ADB thing. How do I get it to find the device

This has literally nothing to do with the topic you posted in. Take a step back and do a little research before posting. You'll much likely be better off if you know what's going on.

I mean, I got there, but there is no OS installed on my kindle fire
Okay, I realize I tend to come off a little "jerky" sometimes, but I really am trying to help. When you hijack a thread that's several months old and post a problem that seemingly has nothing to do with the OP, only to later reveal that there is much more to your problem (even after being suggested to do it differently), it makes other people that would normally be willing to help, think twice about getting involved. Nobody wants to have to ask 50 different questions to get to the root of the problem. You need to realize that the people who would help, probably don't want to do more work than absolutely necessary. And you should be respectful of that if you want some quality assistance from the people who might be able to solve your problem.
So once again, and respectfully, I suggest you click on the link I gave you, read it, do any suggested research and follow the directions given in the post.
Hey I'm having the same problem. I tried to root my kinble fire and accidentilly wiped the stockos off it but I have TWRP on the device, however I am not able to mount the device using twrp to put a ROM on the device to boot to. Any help getting the device to be recognized by the computer and mounting it would be a great help and any other info about installing a ROM to my kindle would also be a big help.

I actually figured everything out about 2 hours after my post. In order to get the Kindle recognized by my pc I had to change it over to USB composite device then I was able to load a ROM on it and I am now enjoying jelly bean 4.1 on the kindle now. I have not been able to restore the kindle os but I am assuming that if I look long enough for the kernal and firmware I will be able to restore it. Not that I have any plans to seeing as I have a dedicated android tablet now that does everything I want it and need to do anyways, I read on the kindle for like 3 months when it first came out, not worried about reading on it any more besides there's an app for it. Anyways thanks for the reply.
Hi, sorry if it is bad manners to post in threats months old but I am also having a similar problem with my kindle fire.
Today I spent hours rooting it and trying to get the google play store to work on it - all in a dangerously haphazard manner. It was really reckless of me.
Somewhere in the process I used KFU 0.9.9 after restoring to stock and re-rooting, then after a reboot the OS would't show up. it seemed like it loaded and everything but I couldn't see anything after it loaded past TWRP. I wiped system, and now am without an OS and only TWRP to use.
Some details:
Mounting works
Flashing stock is NOT WORKING. This is my main problem. I don't know any other method of restoring an OS; I do not know how sideloading with ADB works, or if that would help at all.
Much apologies in advanced for my juvenile-ty
thanks

Unroot

Alright, back story first :
Had ICS running on my kindle fire. I went to just delete everything off of it, but must of accidentally deleted the ROM itself. Went to go flash a new ROM, and it wouldn't flash it. Kept getting an error after it "installed". So i let it sit for a couple of weeks.
Where i am now :
My KF is currently charging (it is turning on and off, so it appears to be charging?) The kindle fire is recognized after i install drivers on my 64 Bit Windows 7 pc. I am using KF utility, as well. How do i remove all my roots, and start over again?

If it's turning on and then off again, it's probably a dead battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623244
I figured that..it's probably completely dead. I will give the exact error once it charges all the way.

rooting not going as well as i hoped

Okay so i had problems yesterday getting my laptop to read my kindle as "online" to root it.
I went to try it with my girlfriends laptop today and it gets halfway through everything and the stupid computer freezes!!!
Now I cant get either PC to read the kindle as "online"
Id give up if i didn't hate the stock GUI so much lol
Btw my kindle is fine, I'm posting from it right now.
If you're changing the OS, you don't need to "root". Just install TWRP.

[Q] Semi bricked Kindle fire 2. Recovery problems

Kindle fire 2 ,10.3.1
Hi guys, ive been reading on this forum for a few days now. Whilst i wait for a factory cable to try restore this kindle fire 2.
My brother tried to flash it and turn it into an android tablet. I was there when the rooting was done. And it was rooted using the Bin4ry Root and qemu root. And verified with a root checker pro apk. Which i had installed.
Now from here on out i was not there. He was trying to instal the cm10. First he ran the Automated Freedom-Boot and TWRP installer apk, from the device itself.
When it rebooted it displayed the kindle fire logo and then went straight to a red screen. Which is where he handed it to myself. Ive rooted and flashed a few phones, but the kindle is proper confusing me.
Anyhow. I ordered a factory cable. The cable came today. I hooked it up and tried to run Kindle fire first aid. And plug in the kindle. It shows a red light and a green flashing light and says fastboot. (Im asuming thats good)
However when i choose option 1 to restore the kindle. The highest option is 10.2.4 (i think, going by memory here). Not 10.3.1 which it is on. So i try that. It detects it in fast boot but says it cant reach or find directories.
Tried it restore from backup folder, again comes up with directory error. This thing is only 6 months old. Im not sure what else to try.
I was looking for kindle fire utility 2 to try but no luck finding the download link.
If anyone can help me id be greatly appreciative i have read the forums.
from what i understand the 2nd bootloader install did not go as plan and due to being a red screen it was not signed. And now a fastboot cable is required. Which i have.
Just not sure what to do now, ive tried restoring it. And it fails. I tried reading the forums. Searched for hours. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction.
Thank you for your patience and time

Ok guys i managed to fix it. I used option 2 the one other kf2 recovery option. Clicked yes yes, and it downloaded the 3 images, began writing them. Once done i held the power for 20 seconds, then turned it on and away it went.
COULDNT BE HAPPIER WITH MYSELF RIGHT NOW.
