The point is, you didn't do your job of searching.

Yes, it's very hard to click on the sticky tab before posting.

just help people out if you know what they're asking. if they can't bother to search thoroughly, what makes you believe they'll read a wall-of-text sticky? just clearly explain what needs to be done and everyone's life is much easier. you'll be saving them and everybody from the inevitable thread they'll create after not understanding or getting confused and doing something wrong.
my two cents. . . this is definitely one of the whinier device forums i've been on.

What makes you believe people who can't be bothered to use simple search features or read carefully prepared stickies that took time to create are auto-entitled to help in the form of a detailed answer?
Calling the folks who help others out in their spare time whiny because of some sarcasm doesn't do them just.

they're not entitled but it doesn't hurt to help. you have their attention and they're more likely to listen to you than a sticky they wouldn't even look for.
how long does it take to say "install samsung drivers for your galaxy nexus variant. hold both volume buttons down then hold power button at the same time. place cwm image in your sdk_tools folder, navigate to it using command prompt and plug your phone into usb. type 'adb devices' and hit enter to ensure your device is properly connected. type 'fastboot flash recovery [your recovery filename here].img' and hit enter. now you have cwm! now just search for a superuser .zip you can flash in recovery and you're good to go."
the other option is to just remain silent and let the topic get buried. both are better than whining, which is certainly what posts like "geez couldn't you check stickies? can't you click a stickies tab in tapatalk??" are. no doubt about that.

I would have just used a PC to search since you're going to need it anyway to unlock your bootloader.

There are simple rules required when using xda, one is searching thoroughly. Watch the noob video. Its seriously not hard.
And for something as basic as how to root your phone, you better believe that it has been covered.

Yeah, do a search. Kthanks. Nobody can root 2.3.3 yet, and it is not possible to downgrade, just be patient
Wow a question in the development section....who wouldve thunk it....
When a FIRST POST goes RIGHT INTO the wrong thread. lol. wow! worst of all, the guy didn't even READ ONE PINNED THREAD. however, asking him/her to search is stupid guys. your search feature DOES NOT WORK. Needs redesigned! I tried to use it today. it's too hard. lol. there is NO easy way to direct it to evo's only.

You literally skipped right over this, it's on the first page of the forum. You wanna root your Evo? Donate to some of these people hard at work finding a solution. And before you ask about the youtube videos saying there's a method, it's a method that only works if you've previously rooted your phone and then unrooted for whatever reason.
*sigh* Read the damn thread that says READ FIRST so you don't get such hateful responses in the future

Yes there is, I search the EVO dev and theme section quite often if I have a question, simply enter the section. And click on the search tab at the top, hell you can search a specific thread by going into it and using the same search tab. Anybody with a quarter of a clue and a couple minutes of forum time in their life can figure that out.

How do I return to stock on a mac?

Q&A Section can help you.
It's quite easy.
Google provided images of everything, with a handy script to make them all go.
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html#mysid
Download the factory images package, command line into the directory, and run the script. "sh <scriptname>" should do it.
I forgot if it includes the tools or not, but worst case scenario, you'll have to get the android sdk downloaded also, then drop those images into and run the script from the platform-tools folder.
Try my guide. Its for the nexus s 4G but everything should be the same thing. Just make sure u put your phones stock img files into the adb folder.

Five other forums are not what they are talking about. On XDA, you are in a sub-forum of Samsung Galaxy Nexus, for only development. You will not be received well here.
Go Here and repost: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1431
Thats Galaxy Nexus Q&A
This URL is for the list of subforums in nexus: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1336
And this is the forum sticky in this forum you should have read before posting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400919
Which says, don't post in this forum, there is a forum for posting.
EDIT:
I was bored so i looked around for you, in the Galaxy Nexus General thread (you've posted there before), at the top, there is a sticky called "NEXUS STICKY | USEFUL INFO", in there is this url with instructions for OSX: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366806

Actually, you'll probably encourage more people to ask the wrong questions in the wrong place without looking for answers first. The answers you seek were already all over this nexus forum, had you looked and read everything you were told to read, you would have found it.
And had you posted in the section FOR questions & answers, you would have gotten an answer much faster, and with far less hate.

hey guys im new on the s3 i came from the g-note i was wondering if the s3 is able to oc-uv at this point....also i am a huge benchmark person what does the s3 score? i do know on my note oc'd i hit 7600 on antutu and 64 on quadrant if there is anyone here that may be able to point me to the thread or link how i can root my new phone that would be great!! i know or think i know its odin but not sure which version... also i used super user 3.07 on the note with cwm 5.8.8.4 i think.... are those two the same ones i use for this phone thx again for the help
EDIT...i meant to add that i pre ordered it lol just to clear that up lol

Check out the stickies in the development forum for rooting/flashing etc.
For oc/UV check out the original dev forum.
As for benchmarks... Yeah.
The random number generator known as quadrant will spit out anything from 5,000's to 9,000's for me.
The random number generator known as antutu spits out anything from 4,000's to 8,000's.
Have fun!

Are you a NOOB? Ask any NOOB questions here

*NOOB FORUM FOR SGS3*
Xda community,
I decided to start this thread to help some newcomers along. When I was a NOOB, I had a lot of questions. I couldn't find the appropriate place to ask the questions, I didn't know how to use the forum tools, I didn't know which questions were good questions, I was worried about getting bashed by some senior members, and I became discouraged. Feel free to ask any questions in here. You will not get flamed for asking any legitimate question. I won't hold your hand.. If you have a question that is all over the Internet, I'll point you in the right direction and tell you how I found that information.
YOU KNOW YOU'RE A NOOB IF..
- You are new to rooting
- You are new to flashing roms
- New to adb, fast boot, drivers, bootloaders
- You don't understand the terminology
- You don't know the difference between a rom and a kernel
- You don't know how to use XDA forums
- You can't explain what rooting is and what it does
- Many more..you get the point

Actually edfunkycold has been extremely helpful. No I'm not trying to be confrontational. My apologizes in advance if that's the way it sounds. The threads that edfunkycold pointed you to have the information necessary to complete what you want to do. There is going to be quite a bit of reading, and research involved. Especially as this is your first time. The best advice I can give you is read, read, and read some more. If you have any questions search the thread that pertains to what you are trying to accomplish. If you still cannot find the answer post up in that thread. Someone is usually around to help, in almost every thread. BTW, yes I do know how hard it is to search for answers to questions sometimes . Even though I've been around for a while, I still use the search function quite a bit. Sometimes more than I'd like to admit.

I honestly agree with u 100% edfunkycold cnexus and whiplash are always 1st on the scene when I need help. I just always see people saying to search. I always search b4 I post a thread and I only post a thread to get as much help as possible. There is no real filters on here and u could be stuck on the same thread for days b4 finding what u need. I also feel like posting new threads helps other noobs find things easier than finding something that was posted a year ago. I honestly meant no disrespect to anybody on these forums especially the people that's always helping and if any was taken i apologize

No offense taken at all. But read what you wrote. You feel that by starting a new thread it helps new noobs find it. You don't think that adds to the already hundreds of threads which exist, many of them repeated questions on the same topic? Now that is going g to make it even more difficult for a new person to find the thread with the correct information.
Keep in mind the longer threads with more activity are usually the ones with all the right answers. Some reading and searching will be necessary. Within the thread itself you can search that specific thread to get the information you need and the results come back in order from newest post to oldest post.
I search every day, I search mostly for people that are looking for answers. Keep in mind I do it all from my phone mobile so I only use the app.
Food for thought.

Yes I understand that but thanks to people like u and the others I mentioned links are posted to those threads right on the pages we often look for. Even tho there are repeat questions not everyone has the same desire there fore when the links a provided we get helped as much as we can by this. This isn't a dispute or argument in anyway but a "noobs stand point of thinking" if that's what u wanna call it. Maybe this explains it or maybe it doesn't but it shows we have a high regard for this Site instead of going to another forum or Google searching our issues (which most leads back to here). This is a good Site and everyone is loved here especially by us noobs. I'm not sure if u seen it but a while ago I wrote a thank you post cause what u guys do here is awesome and if it wasn't for u guys my phone would be plain old vanilla my mind bored and a bunch of noobs lost hopelessly. Maybe if we can get some filters on here maybe for dates or key words or different updates there wouldn't be soo many repeat threads. U said yourself u search using your phone (as do I 99% of the time) how long does it take u to usually find a thread you've never seen on a topic u barely have any info about?

If your on the XDA app you can click on more in the upper right hand corner then the search button to search in general View attachment 2180302
If you want to search a specific thread on the xda app you need to be in the thread then click settings then click Web view to take you to a browser then use the search function View attachment 2180309
I would recommend the Tapatalk app which is much much better and you can search in general or within a specific thread right from the app. You can search by key words and also by specific username as well. View attachment 2180312View attachment 2180313

So I'm on bs sprint and still have a little over a year for my contract to be up so if all's well I will be flashing me and my gfs phones to another carrier and buying out of our cantract since we're basically paying 200 dollars for the same service. I'm wondering if anybody is willing to help me out with the flashing process (this will be my 1st time) by directing me to the best carrier to flash to how toos and so fourth. I'm currently rooted and my gf isn't but I can have that done in minutes when it's time. I'm hoping to go to virgin boost or cricket if anyone knows anything about flashing to any of these carriers. Can online help? Please and thanks

If you go Boost or Virgin you will need a donor phone,If you go Cricket you will not as they allow flashed phones on their system.Crickets service is OK but with a flashed phone you will always be 3G no 4G. The S3 is a fairly easy phone to flash you can do it with QPST. Or since you are in louisville the corporate stores can flash it for you pretty cheap.

Yes it's about 50 to 100 dollars tho I think. But I'd rather learn it myself and hustle their customers instead of them hustling me lol. I'd be fine with 3g that's all I get with sprint anyway. Can u explain the qpst thing? I've seen it b4 but don't quite understand it

Use this guide only instead of using DFS use QPST http://www.cricketusers.com/cdma-sa...galaxy-s3-cricket-talk-text-mms-internet.html you could use DFS as well I just prefer QPST and a note if you use QPST write two profiles enable both of them and just make one active seems to work better that way.
