I tried flashing this ROM and after doing so and wiping both caches I rebooted the phone. As the phone rebooted the the first screen to appear was the Paranoid Android screen (with the jelly beans in the Android) and the phone remains stuck there. Is there anything I can do to restore the phone to default so I can flash the ROM again or even get the phone to another screen other than the one it is on? I haven't been able to use it all day even after a hard reset...I'm stuck
Try wiping cache, then dalvik
Did you make a backup prior to flashing? If not, you should make a habit of doing so to due to instances such as this. You can always boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe davlik cache, format system.. Then either try to re flash paranoid android or chose another rom to load.

So i've tried flashing Wyrms nightlies (multiple versions) and now skyraider 4.0 and every time i flash the rom, and reboot it gets stuck in a bootloop. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, but i can get back to my backedup roms. Any suggestions?
Are you wiping before flashing the new ROM?
What clockwork recovery version are you using? I've never had an issue with roms causing bootloops, this is my process though it might be a little overkill. Clockwork 2.5.1.2, put rom on SD card, boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format boot, format system, format data, format cache, then flash the rom. I say its possibly overkill because I think most roms install scripts do some of those wipes for you but I've never run into bootloops after rom installation.

After phone totally blocked I tried to recover system using CWR v3.0.2.4. There I am able to do everything (wipe data/factory reset and Wipe Dalvik cache), I am also able to load new ROM (tried MIUI and Caynogen). But after rebooting phone freezes with HTC logo on it. Only possible reset is with unpluging battery.
Any suggestions?
Hello all,
I've been having issues with apps force closing even after several full wipes and trying several different roms.
I can't seem to get everything cleared off and I'm assuming some of it is kept on internal memory/storage? I have even tried another SD card. I have not wiped the SD cards though. Could this be the issue?
Is there anything else I can do to fully wipe my EVO 4G?
Thank you,
OB1B
Make sure you are doing data factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, cache, boot, system, data while in vrecovery when you switch roms.

You can flash vr-superwipe before you flash a new ROM it will wipe everything for you 3 times, also do all the wipes your self data, system, cache, dalvik cache, boot basically every wipe option in recovery except your sdcard and battery stats.
Here is a link to the wipe all zip if you want it , it also wipes any temp files made by apps that are on your sdcard.

Okay, I was on AOKP M4 and I wanted to upgrade to M5.
So I backup everything and make a backup of my ROM. I wipe the phone and caches and flash M5 with the GAPPS, with the latest CWM touch recovery. When my phone reboots I notice I have the same wallpaper as before and when I unlock my phone my pin is still requested and all of my apps and settings stayed exactly the same. I was never asked to sign into my Google account and the start up/set up screen never came up. I checked to see if I even updated and yes I was on M5. Now the ROM isn't very fast or smooth and I get a lot of force closes and things not working properly.
I tried the whole process again with the CWM non-touch recovery, and again my phone did not fully wipe and all my apps and setting remained exactly the same.
I tried it again with the TWRP touch recovery, and again my phone did not fully wipe and everything was the same and my phone remains kind of slow and I'm getting a lot of force closes.
Why is my phone not fully wiping? What can I do to fix this?
I would really appreciate some help!
you need to wipe factory / data.
wiping cache and dalvik doesn't wipe "/system/etc etc etc"
1. Wipe Factory
2. Wipe Data
3. Wipe Dalvik
4. Flash ROM
5. Flash Gapps.
6. Flash Kernel
for full wipe.

Yes, that is what I'm doing. I'm wiping factory/data and I'm still having the same problem
Like with the TWRP recovery, I went to wipe, I hit factory reset, then cache, then dalvik cache and then flashed the ROM and GAPPS and all my apps and settings stayed the same. It was like if I had dirty flashed it. I don't understand what's going on.

What does that do exactly? Would I have to worry about my media and sd card being wiped?

Okay thank you, I guess this time in TWRP I'll do factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, and system and see if it works out
Okay, so I did factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, and format system.
I flashed M5 and GAPPS, rebooted and everything was still the same. My phone did not fully wipe.
I don't understand what's going. I'm so frustrated right now

I would do a factory reset, if that doesn`t help flash a stock rom and root your phone again. BTW don`t you have a nandroid backup to revert to

I have a nandroid backup, but that doesn't solve the problem of my phone not wiping.
I guess I'll unroot my phone and lock the bootloader and re-do everything to see. I don't understand why my phone isn't wiping correctly.
sometimes cwm just doesnt work with factory wipe. i've used it a few times now and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. i have no idea why. you can try doing a factory wipe from the phone settings>backup and reset. ive only done that twice but it worked both times. if that still doesnt work just go with a fresh flash of google images using fastboot.

Init.d folders can only be wiped with a factory reset afaik, or manualy off course. By locking and unlocking the phone you perform a factory reset anyway, so i would flash a stock rom and start fresh. No chance on left files or scripts. You can do it with GNex Toolkit, option 8. Put the downloaded and not extracted .tgz file here C:\Galaxy Nexus ToolKit\put_google_factory_image_here and flash.
Thanks guys, I'll try that!
Hello,
since i cant post into the appropriate thread due to my 1post on the forum, im posting this in here
anyone having a bootloop issue after installing the ParanoidAndroid 1.6a JellyBean
i tried to install it following their instruction first
CWM: Wipe Cache / Factory Reset IF you come from another rom than JB 4.1 STOCK OTA/IO-Preview
CWM: Install Zip File: (ROM)
CWM: Wipe Cache Partition
CWM: Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache
bootloop...
then i tried
CWM: Wipe Cache / Factory Reset IF you come from another rom than JB 4.1 STOCK OTA/IO-Preview
CWM: Wipe Cache Partition
CWM: Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache
CWM: Install Zip File: (ROM)
Bootlooop....
let me know if anyone having the same issue..
cheers
try factory resetting (x3 to be sure), wipe cache (3x), wipe dalvik (3x) then flashing.
if that doesnt work, try formatting /system in mounts and storage.
i know that fixed some of the bootloops i've had in the past.
This is an alpha so it just might not work for some strange reason you shouldn't have to reformat 3 times its pointless. I would just restore from your backup and hold for a more stable version of the rom
Edit I forgot you have to wipe the system (was in their previous step) for the ROM to work or you will bootloop.

I just flashed this ROM and the first boot did take a very long time
How long did you wait before you called it quits and reflashed?

good news
Hey good news, after 2 failed, i finally get it
as suggest i wipe 3-4 times - then re-flash rom, and put the damn phone in my pocket! 5 min later i took the phone and it was working - just some little tweak for mobile data and i was up and running
thanks you all and i recommend the rom to everyone even if its alpha!
The problem is the bootanimation. Just disable it and it boots in 30 secs
Edit : weird i know
It's not over yet.
Just installed Paranoid on my Galaxy SII Skyrocket using this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750588&highlight=boot+screen
The phone has been on the boot screen animation for over 10+ minutes. Is it supposed to take this long?
I followed the advice posted on this page, wiping 3X on everything (cache partition, data wipe, Dalvik cache). Still nada.
Can't figure this out.

delete the bootanimation from the zip file before you flash it , it's bugged in 1.6... will get fixed later probably
