Since CM10 isn't the most stable ROM in the word, sometimes the phone restarts on its own. I don't really mind, except for the fact that when booting, it stays on the 'Google' screen with the open lock for a very long time. I'm talking minutes . Anyone see this before or know how to fix it?

Mine does also. I thought It was my phone messing up. It wasnt as long after a reboot. I should time it next time.
Not 100% sure here, but is it because it's scanning the SD card in the background for errors?
Anyone else have any ideas?
Dont use cm10 yet. Wait for a RC version. Use cnd in the meantime. All the cm10 features + more.

So this issue is known from CM10 and not something I've done? My nexus 7 works really well with CM10
No its not known cm10 issue I'm using the 24-8 this is first I've flashed, was waiting for few builds to go first. And it boots and works just fine. Try full wipe.

Hi thegtfusion, mind telling me what "cnd" is? I have searched for that string, but I don't get anything instantly recognisable as a ROM.
Thanks. Anil

Thanks thegtfusion, unfortunately Codename Android is sparse on tweaks and features. I was looking for a ROM that will make me toast and tea in the morning.

Hey. After I flash a new rom, the phone is super quick and respones very well. Buy after a few days, it starts to get laggy. When I am presaing the soft keys it takes a couple of seconds to respond, apps loading times can reach about 20 seconds, contacts loading too. I am using the GSM Gnex with CNA 3.8 rom and franco kernel r298. The lags occurred with XenonHD too. Dont get me wrong, I am not complaining about the developers, I am just trying to figure out if I am doing something wrong.

Are you rebooting your phone or just leaving it on for weeks at a time?
I remember someone saying it has to do with the zram optimizations in roms and kernels. at first it makes things faster and the the idea implemented is good in theory but over time it makes things unbearably slow. i dont know the technical reasons for this, someone with more knowledge than me may be able to explain it.

Obviously downloading from the Play Store is using system resources (RAM, a % of the processor etc.) so a slow down is to be expected.
The phone restarting itself =/= to rebooting it regularly. Just like your computer you shouldn't leave it running 24/7. Sometimes you just need to give your phone a restart.
I think the lags are related to the heatcof the Gnex. Maybe the my cheap case makes it worse. I will check without case so it have more contact with the air. I will report the results.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I've noticed the same lag after few days. It's really frustrating to see your phone very fast and then kind of choppy....
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
It looks almost like a memory leak. (That was a big problem on exynos devices runing cm10). It happened to me today (latest nightly cm10), Once my free ram was less than 100 mb the phone became noticeably less responsive.
Sane here!!! Thought it was just me... lol. I was running black bean baked! I love it but became super laggy! Almost threw it across my room lol. But just clashed slim bean and hope its bad ROM coding :-/.

I understand that custom roms do have great features but let me tell you something, after I switched from the S3 I decided not to flash any rom, I just used the nexus toolkit to root it and of course install franco kernel, since then the experience has been amazing, I'm just very careful with the apps I install, cheers!
Sent from my Nexus Prime JB 4.1.2
I've experienced the same on about every JB setup I've tried. A reboot tends to purge assets and get me truckin' again for several days though.
I recommend keeping it stock you people, stock almost never lags unless u use the google+ app

Let me just chime in with the same advice as the previous poster: Try the stock rom. 99% of your problems will magically disappear.

Yup u are right. Many people used to tell that Franco kernel is the best and stuff but even that after using for a few days gets slow whereas in stock all that crap doesn't happen. I still use Franco because games work smoother on it compared to stock. Even the battery life is inconsistent. Just try stock after weeks and Franco right after a reboot still stock will be overall faster and smoother.

LOL, unfortunately I need franco's kernel (or any other custom kernel) to do things that the stock doesn't allow, i. e modify the colors of the screen (I hate yellowish whites) use pgm2 aka slide to wake, use louder patch and modify specific cpu parameters.

Yeah, that the point. I want to change the screen color settings... Franco's kernel allows you to do that.
I am going to change to team EOS rom and check it for a few days. If I have problems with that one I am going back to stock rom.
*****Moderators: please move this over to a different Galaxy Nexus ROM dev area should it apply, but please leave a link to it under this Sub-forum.
I have created what is probably the first custom Android ROM that includes the files for Ubuntu internally, alongside the existing Android architecture. While this is not really a polished release, it has the ability to crash the phone, and requires some tweaking by devs and downloaders. However, for Galaxy Nexus owners (toro for now, soon to be other GNex devices also) this ROM (Rev 2) should boot up after removing one internal zip file. Go ahead to https://sites.google...site/andrevroot for the link about the project, and/or the bottom of this post for
Some things to note:
Comment back what you think about this project, and ROM.
Please keep all comments polite and on topic.
Donate, via bitcoin if you like, as it helps support us, and help create better, more advanced ROMs.
Please look through the whole site
Don't try this ROM if you are new to custom ROMs, try Cyanogenmod ROMs first so you know what you are doing.
I take no responsibility for screwing up your device in any way.
This version is heavily based upon CM10, to the point where it should even say the General CM10 stuff under Settings>About Device. Please do not beat me up over this, it is just because I wanted to get a simple pre-release out there.
This is licensed, please read the License agreement at the footer of my site, you are bound to its terms. Its Creative Commons, but still used.
Thank You for your time, have a nice day.
Above all, do not try to update the CM firmware, as you will lose the ubuntu files contained within!!!!!!

CM 10.1 has been a not so good experience for me. I solely bought the S3 to root and install CM on it. But bug after bug and gallery not syncing ....its hard to keep it. The TW ROMs eat battery up quicker than anything. What is weird to me though is that I had the S3 on Sprint with CM and all was working even on nightlies. You would think that the T-Mobile version would be as good.NOPE

Sorry dude. Some people tend to give smart answers and make it out to be like you're stupid or purposely disrespecting the devs when those were not your original intentions. Do you mean that it's never worked on the Galaxy S 3 for T Mobile or cm.? Because it has, I've had it on other devices and it runs pretty darn good. besides the gallery issue I have random freezes that to the point I have to reboot my phone or take out the battery
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Use one that isn't a nightly and all US s3 variants will have the same issues except connection/data type issues. I have suggested for you to look up a picasa sync app from the market before, did you not do that? I'm almost positive it never worked for any device, without a mod.
Ok, freezing issues. What nightly are you running?
I was on the 27th but now I'm on stable release to and it still doing it
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Don't use a custom kernel, don't overclock, and don't undervolt. And don't use that ancient CM 10.0 stable build. Use 10.1 with the 20130301 gapps.
The 3.4 kernel builds are still pretty buggy. 3/17 was the last 3.0 kernel build. Try 3/17 (goo.im). If still having issues, please describe exactly what you are doing when the freezes occur.
Using 3/28, I had one hotboot this morning, been fine ever since.
Is hotspot tethering with password supported in the nightlies? I am currently on CM10 stable now. Couple of months ago the nightlies hotspot password was not working.

Sorry my bad. The phone rings once and then force closes with a message something along the lines of app not responding, or something like that. Sorry. I've already restored a nandroid backup and I can't remember the exact wording of the error message. But yes, it was a phone process error.
hey wolf can you give me the build.prop? maybe i know how to fix that issue.
