Not really sure what you're saying - vol. up + power is also a way to calibrate battery. When it restarts it will show a lower percent than before. You can read a thread in Q&A section for testing & calibrate battery.

[Q] Xperia Arc - Dead phone Flashing?

Hi, my 6 week old xperia arc suddenly went dead and does not switch on. None of the led lights are on, whether I charge it with its cable or other chargers. I removed the battery and put it back on; tried the software update yet the PC can't detect the phone.
I would like to try flashing it before I take it to the store and test a different battery. Flashing seemed to work for someone in this thread with the same "symptoms" : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829850
I would be surprised if it was the battery after 6 weeks and an excellent battery life of one day and half throughout...
Could someone tell me how to flash the phone? Cheers, Alex
P.S.: Carrier is T-mobile, phone is great, can't say I regret switching RIM for Sony but I was expecting the software to be a bit more glitchy...
If it's of any relevance: if I press the power on button it vibrates a bit when its not connected to the mains. if I continue pressing it it vibrates a bit every 6/7 seconds. The leds are never on.
Have you tried the flashtool?
Try this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126358
More likely the battery or charger / cable is gone. Because if there is no LED what so ever then there is no power.

Xperia S dead?

Hello,
My Xperia S which I bought in August 2012 doesn't boot anymore. A few weeks after I bought it, I unlocked the Bootlader and installed custom Kernels and ROMs and it worked fine all the time. I was on KA 22.1 SSpeed and Advanced Stock 17 and wanted to try something else, so I installed XZXperience 2 and the Elite V2-Kernel.
Well, after that, the phone worked fine but I noticed some heavy battery drain. Charging took waaay longer than usual (full charge about 4 hours with the plug) and the drain was immense. BetterBatteryStats showed me a Deep Sleep of 98 % while I lost about 15 % of battery life in ONE hour, that can't be somehow. The phone however worked still fine.
So I decided to flash the Advanced Stock Kernel again but the drain didn't stop, it was as before. I thought that the Battery Stats are maybe corrupted, so I let the phone discharge itself completely (didn't take long) and wanted to charge it fully. When I plugged in the charging cable, the first unusual thing was, that the red light appeared instantly upon connecting. Normally it would take a second or so. The second thing is, there was no logo, no battery symbol, just nothing but the red light when I plugged the cable in.
I slept a night and after I woke up, I disconnected the cable and wanted to start the phone, but nothing happened. Still, the only thing the phone does, is lighting red, when it's plugged in. Fastboot or Flash-Mode don't work, the computer doesn't recognize anything.
So...what to do? it appeared after I flashed the new ROM and Kernel, but I don't think it has something to do with them...the drain was also there with the Advanced Stock Kernel. Although I must say, that I often had flashing errors, often the device said something like:
format_volume make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2
To me, it looks like the battery has a deep discharge and is dead, but I don't know, what could I probably do before sending it in? If the battery is dead the warranty should still be there, even with the unlocked bootlader, am I right?
Best regards
when you power on your phone what happen?
Ur phone boots while charging, but not charging. If this the case keep ur phone in ur hands for 10-15 min.Enter into recovery while led is pink.Flash other kernel.Else take the battery out charge it,enter into recovery flash other kernel

I can't go into recovery, because the phone does nothing, I can't start it. There's still warranty on the phone, so I'd rather not like to remove the battery...
ok so its no screen at all,
when u pressed power+volume up for 10 seconds does it vibrate?
Already tried, it doesn't...even after holding for minutes.

You could open the phone and disconnect the battery, or let the phone sit long enough for it the battery to die.
This will reset the phone.
Only problem is how long to let the battery die, as there is no way to tell.
Once the phone resets make flashtool ready to flash just the kernel, and use a rubber band to hold the volume down button in.
With flashtool waiting and button pressed plug in to PC.
It should give red led for about 10 minutes then flash.
You can read more tips & tricks in the RECOVERY thread in my signature.

Well, the incident happened a few weeks ago and after I charged it over night and it didn't work, I left it there for nearly two weeks and nothing has changed so far. In your post, you said, that you had to wait for 51 hours until your battery died but two weeks is quite long I think...
What do you suggest? I think, I'll send it in, if the battery is broken, the warranty should cover it.

I would call Sony and get the ball rolling on a warranty claim.

Simple fix I think. This has worked for Xperia S and Xperia U. Both phone i brought as "DAMAGED". LOL. Battery is toooooo dead for the phone to detect it..... Use a wall charger to charge the battery up . I used a charger off ebay ($2 including post) that was for a Galaxy I9000 battery (old phone) and used wires and taped them to the battery..... Didn't even need to fully charge it! just like a jump start sort of thing...
Came up with the idea as at work we have to "jumpstart" car batteries to trick the charger into charging them
If you have a DC power source that puts out 4.2v at 350mA +/- 50mA then TRY IT and please let me know.

Well, I have a lithium charger for round-type-batteries, but we're talking about lithium here and if the battery is really damaged, it could be quite dangerous to charge it. The output of the charger is 1A, too, quite a bit higher.
I tried a last thing and took the battery out but it still only shows a red light while charging, so I'm going to try to send it in.
R: Xperia S dead?
IT happened The same for Me...
I was very worried..
I plugged to charge for 21h... Unplugged but Nothing!!
So i replugged iT and watched for 1H.. Suddenly IT Booted(But opened only logo Sony And Crashed!) So i Tried to unplugg and power on the phone but nothing.. No booted!!
So after 25m iT rebooted and like a furet i dropped my phone from The table and like a crazy tried to go in recovery.. So it Gone in Recovery i've Wiped ALL And Reinstalled Fw-Kernel.
So now i'm using The Xperia S

proplem wirh battery..

Hello everyone
Since I click on the battery reset which can be found if u call *[]*[]7378124[]*[]*
Not so sure about the code. anyway
Since that and my battery fall down from 6% to 1% and then shut down .. Sometimes from 11% to 1%
The battery health is ok..
By tha way.. I rooted my phone and unlocked bootloader also I cleaned all cache from Recovery mode
Anyone can help??
Sorry for my bad English
Service test will never hurt your battery, it is just a test, try charging the phone when it's off then turn it on and see if same thing happens again. As for recovery it has nothing to do with the battery either. Try charging the phone, leave it for a while then check again, if it's software issue ( dont' think so ) reflash your device ( backup first ).

What version of ROM are you using?
Possible Fixes.
1. Remove the SIM Card.
2. In Power OFF Mode Charge Till 100% (Green Light)
3. Switch ON The Phone Without SIM.
4. Check >> If battery icon is stuck at 100% for too long. Or battery icon flashes.
If YES, ReFlash ROM
>> If it discharges normally, Then keep the phone charge Over 50%.
Then, Do A Hard Reset. 3 Viberations by Pressing Volume Up and Power Button Together Nearly 10secs.
(50% Charge is called Factory Charging)
On a working phone there are different stages of a battery's charging cycle.
The stages are listed in order they happen.
The cycle goes from a completely dead battery through a phone running on battery and back to a completely dead battery.
1. Dead battery. No response from the power button, no screen and no led.
2. Connect to charger
3. Low battery level charging mode.
This is when just the RED led is on and no screen.
At this stage the battery's charge is to low to turn the phone on, but it is charging.
4. Kernel controlled off-line charging mode.
This is when the battery has charged enough from step (3) and boots the kernel to charge the battery.
5. The phone is off, but could be turned on using the power button.
A quick press of the power button will show this battery icon. Icon will fill with charge.
The kernel also controls charging when the phone is on.
6. Battery is fully charged.
7. Unplug the phone and turn on.
8. Battery is dead or discharges quickly from normal use. Repeat stages starting at (1)

[Q] Xperia Ion No Response

Rom: ZperiaION 4.5
Phone: Xperia Ion ATT Locked Bootloader
Problem: My phone has stopped giving any response what so ever to me.
1) My phone was working when I woke up as i turned off the Alarm and responded to a text.
2) I check 10 minutes later and my phone is not responding at all, no screen, no vibration, no response when plugged into PC and i am not able to do a force shut down by holding down the volume and power buttons for 30 seconds.
3) what worries me is that there is no LED light or any response whatsoever, nothing from any way that i know as a decently good user of this phone. Also, before the phone went down, it was at about 90% battery so im positive the battery did not drain randomly in 10 minutes.
Hmm
Put a rubber band around your power and volume button to force off and when it finaly responds
Use flashtool or sony updater service to fix your ion unless you have a unlocked bootloader then use flashtool
Any questions just ask
Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Alright I have placed three rubberbands around each button, I have to go to school so when i come back in about 7 hours ill see what happens. And if there is still no response then flashtool is useless. thank you and i am trying your method
45mins should usualy do it
If not then you will kill your battery and you may not be able to recover
Anyway it may be warm
Just try flashing using flashtool then you should be fine
Damn...You never told me about the 45 minutes part . The Battery I think is dead because the Red LED was blinking while i tried to charge for the last 6 hours. So I have come to the conclusion that the batter is dead because it has never taken me this long when i fixed the soft-brick before.
Thanks for trying to help i guess @Envious_Data

I have the same problem
My lt28h randomly shutted down in school like the other one and when I connected it to the charger a red led blinked very short (about 1sec) and weak, after 3 sec the LED started blinking very fast and weak, also I were able to here quietly clicks everytime the led blinked.
I charged it for 24 hours already but I had no response, no vibration, no sound, no green or orange LED.
I flashed CM11 and just replaced my screen by myself and had a bug sometimes (once a day) that my sim-card didn't got detected and I had to restart.
Yeah, I'd just remove the battery and try to charge it separately and see if that helps.
