Big Problems With My Xperia Play - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
First off im new here so if i say or do something wrong im sorry, but to begin i have a habbit of wanting to do stuff to my phones that often is not aloud and ends up breaking it. So when i got my xperia play and got head of rooting it i set off and found out how and everything went smoothly untill i wanted to unlock the bootloader and put ICS Beta rom on my phone. I really dont know why i tried as i was doing it totally wrong but anyway after a failed flasding of the ICS Beta i powered my phone on and it had ereased everything all apps and sd card info but there came problems straight away and they are listed below:
1) Home button key no longer worked unless i press it to un lock my phone
2) Allows me to set up a pattern lock or pin code but when i press lock button its not there
3) Wifi works but no 3g internet
4) Landscape rotation only works when the phones side is up
5) Cant connect to pc to view files on sd card (says its installing MTP USB driver but it always fails)
So anyway i wanted just to revert back to stock firmware so i download the correct version and downloaded flashtool but everythime i try to flash it on it says i havent installed the right drivers but ive installed all of them that came with flashtool, also when i connect my phone its say install device driver sfotware which is a MTP USB driver for some reason but this fails it doesnt even show that the usb is connected on my phone
So what im asking is there anyway to just get my phone back to normal really any help would be soooo helfull
Thanks in advance

apperently its up to date but i noticed in the device manager the driver has a yellow caution symbol next to it but i dont get why i cnt see my sd card files and also before i screwed it up im sure it said in the status bar if usb is connected but my phone doesnt do anything

Yeah. The exclamation point, open its properties. Find update driver option. Or just troubleshoot it. It'd be easier to understand.
There should be s1boot driver inside the flashtool driver folder somewhere. Thats what u need to update the mtp driver with.

hi
ok drag and drop the fft file in to the flash box make shure that wipe data user is ticked and wipe cache then click ok then it should say prepairing files to flash, then another box will show up take out your battery and reinstal it then hold the back key and wit till flash has finished all done
use this one ok R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62

Hey buddy the Flashtool is bugfree is never wrong. If it asks for you to install the drivers DO IT and I dont believe if you installed them correctly. In order to install the drivers correctly go into your flashtool in your C drive and find a folder called Drivers. There is a .exe and you must accept all the permissions.

I tried the generic UK, but I`m not from UK.. there isn`t anyone there that is to my location (IL)..
I was having the same problem. So, I just install Dixperia 2. Good speed, Xperia game launcher, playstation pocket, full touchpad and controls...
Highly recommended.

[Q] Computer doesn't recognize HOX after flashing

Hi guys, my dad got a problem with his rooted HTC One X. His phone crashed after flashing. After the crash he formatted the phone except for the SD card. Now none of our computers recognize the phone anymore so he isn't able to put firmware on it. He has tried to mount/unmount the SD card via device manager, but the computer sees it as an unknown device. My dad tried to install the drivers but that didn't work. After that he tried to install ADB drivers but that also didn't work. Anyone here who can help him?
Yup, dozens of ppl here can help him.
What did he flash?
What firmware are you talking about?
ROM? Firmware.zip?
What do you mean by "didn't work"? Did he actually install the drivers or did it fail?

Hello,
I have the same problem with my HOX, after rooting I can't connect to my pc , so I cant flash anything.
Theo
My friend is also having this same issue.
The phone is not turning on.
HTC Sync Manager, ADB, non of them recognize the device.
Holding Vol down + Power button didn't do anything.
It's like the device is completely dead. But when connected to the PC, device manager shows it as an unknown device.
Any ideas/ solutions?
Make sure you dont use a USB3.0 connection. We had a hard time getting adb to work last night. My suggestion is to deinstall the htc drivers, uninstall the unknown device. Reinstall the htc drivers and reboot the pc then hook the phone to the pc and let it install. If it still comes up with unknown device you click it and select to install your own your own drivers and then select to choose from the list......you should see ANDROID PHONE in the list, click it and there should be an option called MY HTC install it and reboot the phone and the pc ....this way we got it working last night.

Thanks again for the reply. I've already tried it. Nothing gets installed. And still it says Unknown device.
Well the problem that QQ had is solved. We got the drivers in order late lastnight after a lot of de-installing and re-installing of java and HTC drivers .....finally it worked, but then the battery ran out so i wrote him a full and easy to use tutorial and put the files he needed where they had to be .....
:and he did a great job following the steps and got him back a full working phone

[Q] Dead I9082 - I can't turn on my Phone

Dear Friends,
I have Samsung Grand I9082 that was stuck on logo screen.
I tried to flash it many times but I failed because I had the problem of "VHX_21nm_3bitMLC_8GB_p10"
So I downloaded the full flash files from this post in "http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f684/help-samsung-i9082-hank-logo-1780647/".
In the download mode I selected all files ((except the pda file)).
The download process is completed successfully and the phone restarted then screen became blank.
Now the phone is dead I can't open it in any mode even it doesn't be charged and the pc can't recognize it.
:crying:
Please I need your help.
Thanks in advance.
Go through the flashing guides again.

previously you didn't mentioned that your phone don't even start, as per your later post you said it is recognized as unknown device that means device is able to response to your computer
& if all above is correct then flashing through ubuntu or any linux distro is only your last option cause there is no such thing as unknown device in ubuntu
i had a similar phone that won't boot in recovery nor download mode only blank black screen i tried many option but ubuntu was life saver for me, try it its worth :good:

If you read the title of my thread and the first post you will discover that my phone can't be turn on.
Anyway should I have Ubuntu or could I try this on PartedMagic live cd?

I think the problem is software problem so it could solved.
When I connect the phone to PC it is recognized as unknown device not as previous which I could recognize it by Odin.

Yes, Phone doesn't start (no screen, no download mode, no recovery mode, and can't be recognized by ODIN)
But when I connect it to the PC I hear the sound of the connected USB (from windows themes) and in the devices manager it's found as unknown device

Dear friend,
Thanks for your concern.
I have created a USB JIG and it doesn't work, then I've bought a new and it also doesn't work.
I've to check the links that you've post.

I had to go to bed last night i was too tired , anyway first go into settings / about phone / software info and check if you are on h815 if you are then go to the playstore and get an app called rebooter , install and click on reboot to recovery if an lg recovery comes up just restart your phone and i can't really help you but if it says twrp recovery then its easy so check that first and then reply back ...

Well you have two choices
1. unlock your bootloader via lg website
2.flash a stock .kdz marshmallow rom using lg bridge
The choice is yours if you need any more help then just msg me and if my posts have helped you then please leave a thumbs up it helps others to know my information is reliable and trustworthy....

This is what I would do,
Go to LG developers and create an account to unlock your bootloader, NOTE - when unlocking your bootloader it will erase everything on your device so back up everything that is important before unlocking
Then download Genisys rom 2.8 MM and Genisys bootloader and modem version 20D then download twrp 2.8.7.0
1.transfer the downloaded files onto your phone
2.flash twrp
3.boot into twrp and wipe system/data/dalvik/cache
4.install Genisys rom then let phone reboot
5.reboot back into twrp recovery and flash Genisys bootloader and modem 20D
Done...
Any questions you have just message me back but if you follow my guide step by step you'll be fine and on marshmallow in no time.....
---------- Post added at 12:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 AM ----------
It is best to download the rom, bootloader, modem and twrp on a pc first and then transferring to device also you will have to make sure that the drivers are fully installed on your pc for your phone, also you will need the adb files to create an adb connection so check some videos on YouTube from XDA and root junky to be fully sure you have all the files....
It sounds quite hard but as long as you have all the files and follow all the instructions you will be able to do it...
thanks for all this, im going to attempt it all tonight as i have the night off work...slowly making my way through the LG unlocking bootloader lol
Well inbetween playing my games, watching tv shows i managed to get the bootloader thingy unlocked, now trying to get my head round this recovery, marshmallow rom thingy

Well....that was kinda the hard way. You could've easily just downloaded the latest marshmallow KDZ file from here and install it with this tool. Both threads are noob friendly and self-explaining. But nevermind
Cheers follow
Edit: If you're experiencing any trouble with rooting/modding/recovery/kdz's or have any questions concerning the G4 you can pm me!

Answer to this question is pretty simple: If you didn't follow the official steps on the LG page to unlock your bootloader, you didn't unlock your bootloader
thanks, i managed to unlock the bootloader thingy as now when i restart my phone theres the little message ion the corner....just now trying to understand how to put the recovery thing/ cfw on it for marshmallow

Put your twrp file in your adb folder
Open a command window in your ads folder
Type
adb flash (nameoffile).img
So an example is adb flash twrp.2.8.7.0.img

It's okay, don't worry fella
The main thing is you've unlocked your bootloader and you can boot into your phone ( things could be a lot worse trust me)
Go into device manager and check if your phone is in there also plug your phone in enable USB debugging install drivers disable USB debugging,
Switch to mtp install drivers then switch to ptp (the other one) and try to connect that way,
Don't give up buddy you've done really good so far, I have to go work soon but as soon as I'm back I'll check XDA for your post and help as soon as I can.....
ok just found out, after double checking the developer options, it seems the debug usb check box was checked off [does it auto check off on shut down?]
is it best to try install this recovery first before that marshmallow kdz file?

It doesn't matter which one is first
Also if you have an sd card then put it in an sd card reader plug in pc and copy the files from pc then insert into phone and if you still can't connect via adb then look for an app on XDA called flashfire and use that to flash twrp I'll check back as soon as I'm back from work...
Ok trying to install the recovery thing, managed to boot the phone into the boot loader, but when i try to do anymore it wont work......ive put the 2 files [recovery / superuser thing] in my DOWNLOAD folder of my phone
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot boot TWRP2861.img
cannot load 'TWRP2861.img': No such file or directory

adb flash twrp.2.8.7.0.img (that's an example, type whatever the twrp file is called)

Xperia M5 E5663 seems bricked after flash 30.1.B.1.46,help..

sorry for my bad english first..
at first,I using Sony PC Companion 2.1 to update my phone, but the pcc download firmware too slow..
so I open FlashTool(0.9.20.0) and open XperiFirm to download the firmware and wait the firmware download and FTF created successful,I start flash my phone in flashmode.
I remember flashtool ask me "use FSC script",but I select no(I don't know what FSC is used to do,so I select no.).
after while the flashtool process is stuck..and after 30min,I unplug the USB cable and prepare to flash again, but when I connect the phone to computer again, the computer can't Identify my phone, the Flashtool said "For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode" when I connect to computer..:crying:
and the windows device manager only can recognize my phone in a USB serial device, the VID 0FCE,Pid D1D5.no SOMC FLash Device any more..
the picture in attachments shows what i said.
i just use the phone for one week and the phone have no warranty..:crying:
anyone help please.. @Androxyde
You have bricked you phone as many others did,the lession is u have to read and re-read and do the steps exactly as described, you had to click YES on FSC.As far as i know there is no other way to fix it except sending it to service center.Sorry in the future read carefully the tutorials...
Sent from my E5603 using XDA-Developers mobile app
You should have read the instructions...
Flashing the remaining FTF contents with FlashTool
At this stage, your device have the system partition with full root access of the firmware from the FTF you used but still have the kernel, baseband, etc., from the previous firmware you were running on your phone, so, trying to start your device now will probably result in a boot loop. To correct this:
• Open FlashTool again and flash the same FTF you used to extract system.ext4 through flash mode, however, make sure you exclude SYSTEM partition. If you forget to do so, you'll lose root access and you'll need to restart from the beginning.
• Make sure that you're using FlashTool 0.9.20 or newer and answer Yes when it asks if you want to use the .fsc script!Using an older version or not using the provided .fsc script will hard brick your Xperia M5 and only Service Center will be able to repair it.
• After flashing ends, disconnect the USB cable and start your phone. The first boot may take several minutes but if everything went well you should be now running the same firmware from the FTF file you used, with full root access!

Yeah the difference is that M5 just started to be supported by flashtool,in other words it's a new phone and with a little more complex cpu in compare with Z1,i had Xperia Arc never had problems with flashtool but since i bought M5 i'm extra careful 'cause i had mediatek smartphones before and they are pain in the ass when comes to rooting, flashing and others. So you might still look around to try and fix it by yourself,if not try sending it to service center if they ask say it failed during xperia companion update or repair don't say you used flashtool...Good luck

There's no fix. Only Service Center can repair it if you bricked your device by using Flash Tool without the provided .fsc script.
any1 solved this? I have the same problem =(
Only fix is to desolder emmc and reprogram boot sectors using jtag box. That will bring flash mode back. If you have Sony Service Center in your country and your phone is under warranty (you didn't unlock your bootloader), then maybe there is a chance they will repair it without charge.

Someone should make bin and scatter files to be flashed with SP Flash Tool as any other MTK device to be able to flash it from the dead state, at least if it is recognized as COM device. The good start would be if someone can pull the scatter file from a working device and share with others. Now we have ftf file. Maybe there is some way to convert it to bin file.
Convert for me too e5653 m5 single sim problem same pls

I don't know if you know how to flash ftf but try this:
1. start flashtool
2. begin flash ftf file for your M5
3. hold volume down and connect usb cable
4. press power button (hold both volume down + power)
5. when phone vibrates release power button (still hold volume)
or
3*. connect cable before holding volume down
then reset phone
tell me if something happen
*facepalms*
But maybe not cuz unknown devices now

And i will test it with ur idea thz
less talking, more reading. these recommendations are nice but useless if you read all the threads with bricked devices. especially what are the symptoms of a bricked device.
the only thing that i am optimistic to is this scatter file "solution". but if it is working we should find out. would be cool if someone can provide a scatter file for E5603 and/or other variants.
