Is this normal? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

When I press any volume button with the power button a couple times my phone vibrates and gmail automatically opens with a bug report and a screenshot. Does this happen with anyone else? BTW I'm on stock jb with Franco kernel. This happened before I flashed Franco kernel

Yes, it's normal. That key combination generates a bug report, check this

Interesting... so can this be another way of getting a logcat? What I mean is can this "bug report" be compared to logcat?

Thanks for this, I was rather perplexed about the amount of bug reports on my device.

Also is there a way I can remove or disable this feature?

I guess the logcat logs everything since your last boot, and the bugreport only your last actions. But that's just a guess, I don't mess with these things bro, sorry.
I've read about disabling it somewhere, but don't know if it works on JB.

Hit the thanks button then.

I don't believe they have incorporated the ability to disable this yet into JB.

[Q] Native Screenshots in CM7?

Running CM7, MTD 12/19 build and was wondering if there's a way to take screen shots without installing an additional app on this. Any one able to shed some light on this?

Hold down power button, it will give you a choice for screenshot. Push that, and you have a screenshot.

Duuuude... +1
I totally forgot about this method until last night when I remembered back to the announcement of the gnex and how they'd be incorporating screen caps stock. So glad I don't have to use those weak 3rd party apps any longer.
This method is hit and miss for me but at least there is a native way to take one! Thank you for your hello!

User error... Its really easy to do lol. Hitting 2 buttons at once isn't too hard .
You have to hold them for a second . Not tap and release
I usually press power before press volume down. It works 100%!

Just an idea... have someone call it? That will in turn wake it up for you to use it, and up the standby screen time.
Why not taking the battery out, then in, then power up. IIRC, the phone won't shut off if it has just booted unless it times out.
There is an app called slide2wake

My power button and mic both quit working this morning. I have had the phone about two weeks. I'm just pulling the battery and using volume rockers to wake up at this point.
Restoring old backup ROM, but I don't think it has anything to do with it since the button does not work in CWM either.
Uhggg
Charge it? Mine cuts on when I charge it.

I am not a smart man.
What 'bout with a charger? Like the previous gentleman said?
disassemble the phone [it's really not hard, just some Phillips screws and then pry the screen part out]. depending on how badly you broke the power button you can either just push on the underlying membrane or short the contacts using a wire.

The last few months on my gnex I started having to take the battery out and put back in to power on.. (about 50% of the time) If I do this it will power on but if I don't it wont.. Anyone know what this could be? Is it the power button? Seems like if it was it wouldn't power on at all?

Disable part of touch screen--possible?

The backlit "search" button on the lower right of the t989 screen gives me no end of trouble. Several times a day, I'll accidentally press it with my palm while doing any number of other things. This interrupts whatever I'm actually up to and always causes me have to start over in, for example, the middle of a long forum post.
What I'm looking for is some way to disable that particular key. Is there an app for that? Or some other hack?
Thanks,
Q

I recently installed CM 9.1 on my T989. Searches during the last few days have revealed 9.1 as the most recent stable CM for this phone, and "hardware keys" isn't anywhere in these settings that I can see. What's the trick here? From what I can tell, CM10 isn't available for the T989. How new do I need?
It is most certainly available.

Flashed attached zip via recovery. This will disable JUST the search key.

[Q] Strange vibration / haptic feedback problem

When using certain music apps (poweramp, stock sound player..) the vibration on the phone freaks out and just buzzes and pulses. I can't figure out what is causing it.
Please tell us some more information about the phone so we can help you.
For example, what ROM or Samsung touchwiz software are you on? Are you rooted?

I would try uninstalling all those music apps and then do some detective work and install each app one by one to see which app it is. Report back what you find out.

A shot in the dark here,,,,but go to /settings/sound/
Scroll to the bottom and disable "Auto Haptic" if it is enabled.

Right on right on.
Also.... it's not so obvious...but long pressing on that menu item/switch brings up a blacklist/whitelist to choose which apps will be affected by auto-haptic though I don't use it myself.
