all the screen area have the same problem.
is my dhd broken? or all dhd's problem?
Perhaps calibrating the screen may help? Not sure. Are you rooted? Stock? More info please. When did it start, etc....

Pons is right, typically that is a condition caused by a dirty trackball.
Touch screen will freeze. Also when I touch the screen the notification bar opens.
Anyone having this problem.

Need more information to help diagnose. Are you rooted? Which rom are you using? Have you dropped your phone recently? Has it gotten wet?
Yes rooted, s-off, cm nightly (always wipe)
It was reacting the same way before I rooted. Was hoping that would fix.
Would it be a software or hardware issue. has not been wet or dropped.
Bump for this person. My friend has the same problem

i have the same problem.
is there a kind of deep calibration/reset for g-sensor?
i tried with gps status (there is an option to calibrate sensor) but it appear dead.
tried another rom, no change....so probably it's not a software problem.
maybe there is a ground/contact problem, will disassembly the phone again.

any news? same problem for me
Where is the G-sensor mounted? (Picture?) Mine is also defect, even as the compass. Is it the same component? or is it on a seperate board which could have a loose contact?

Anyone knows where the G-sensor is located on the printboard?
hi. i would appreciate some help.
I am using a Desire HD w/ Lord's Icecoldsandwhich 8.6.1.
The notification bar has recently become stuck while in portrait mode. This happened about a day after doing a full wipe and flash of ics8.6.1.
I have tried full wipe/ factory reset, randomblain's Jellytime r5.1, exists aospx...the problem has continued. I have set the phone to show visual response to touch and there is no response in the area of the notification bar; however the rest of the screen/ buttons function perfectly.
If you can offer any help, it would be much appreciated. Thankyou.

p.s. I've searched the forums and I could only find a similar issue posted about an EVO 4G user, however there was no conclusive help, only the suggestion to get the phone replaced.
it is possible to be a kernel problem? i have tried reflashing just the kernel, but no improvement so far.
any assistance is much appreciated. sorry for my english.

Just out of curiosity, are you using a Sense 4 theme from the market?
Hi. Thank you for your reply.
No, I always use the default theme that comes with the ROM. I also use the default launcher or Nova if available that comes with the Rom. No additional widgets or extras as well.

Might be a bad flash, I haven't heard of others that had it (as in, your's might be unique).
Here's a somewhat unlikely scenario, but go to developer options>show touches. Then tap the notification bar. If you don't see a touch up there, then it might be another issue altogether.

As I mentioned in the OP i enabled visual touch response and there was no response from the notification area. If I turn the phone on its side and enable landscape mode, the "portrait notification area" which becomes the left side of the screen still gives no response.
I understand this lends strongly to the idea that the phone is damaged, however I came across a post written by an Evo 4G user with a similar issue, except he was able to solve the problem by re-flashing an updated kernel. Unfortunately, I have tried this with no results.
Thank you for your reply ...it seems that this problem is uncommon and I am begin to doubt the availability of a software/firmware based solution.
The phone reacts on its own from time to time. When you're in a menu it opens sub menus and starts to turn things on and off in a really fast way. I don't know what to do. It just happens sometimes but then its really annoying. I had this problem with the latest HTC GB and now with the latest official CM 7.2. So I don't think it's a software problem but hardware problem? It just startet to do that one day. I already cleaned the mouse button with an air-spray but it didn't help. Or maybe its a touchdisplay problem?
Any suggestions? Did anyone ever had something like that?
Cheers 41

digitizer problem i think. its the touch section above the LCD which is responsible for detecting touch. its very cheap to get replaced. but i am not sure.

Phantom touches are a digitizer issue usually. There should be a setting in cm7 to show on screen touches. If its showing you touches and your not pushing then replacing the digitizer is your best bet
