So I'm a n00b and I'm just getting started with android hacking and compiling. I got a galaxy nexus and the first thing I noticed is that the navbar is on the left of the screen. Some other stuff I was pretty not happy about with just AOSP included the lack of a reboot (and to recovery menu) as well as the battery percentage at the statusbar. So naturally, I dove into the source code and started modifying for these new features.
I know there are probably a lot of left handed people out here who are interested in having the navbar during landscape mode (granted, I'm not left handed, but I use the navbar with my left hand, for some reason) so I've uploaded the otapackage for anyone who is interested!
Also plan on adding other things, including some stuff from CM like Apollo. I probably will migrate to CM10 later on, but since I don't actually have internet right now (sending this from a coffeeshop) at home, I can only stick with what I got .
---------------------------------------------------------------
Note: This is essentially the STOCK AOSP build but with 3 customizations. Everything else is left untouched!
FOR MAGURO ONLY!

Awesome idea. Done.
Also I accidentally removed some source code. My next update which will allow you to remove voicemail notifications easily will take a couple of days..
This feature should be add in CM & AOKP those custom rom too.

That's my goal. I need internet to sync cm10, however.
Was able to get someone else to grab the source of cm10 for me on a thumb drive. (Tgz only 10.3gb)
Left hand mod is fairly easily integrated. Will upload once I get internet.
Also I probably want to do some of my own customizations like adding in the low audio latency mod as well, perhaps another thread will do..
This is AWESOME. When I got my Galaxy Nexus, I was told that it couldn't do this, and that it probably wasn't possible.

Nothing is impossible when you have the source ;p expect an upload of CM10 with this today afternoon, I've been using it for .a couple of days and it's even more responsive than the aosp build. Will also be submitting the patch once they get their navbar settings from cm9 ported to cm10
If anyone still cares, this feature is now pending in the CM10 review queue:

and

Hey I really would like to put my navbar on the left side while in landscape mode. I don't want to run pure AOSP or CM10 either. Don't get me wrong, they're great ROMs but I am currently stock on CodeNameAndroid (love it!!) 3.5.0 for the Toro/VZW model.
Is there any way I could get that on my current ROM?? I am a "noob" at Android hacking and all. Most I've ever really done that could even be considered hacking is modifying a few lines in my build.prop.
Could you maybe point me in the right direction as to how to get this done? I am a noob, but I have knowledge of ADB as well as Fastboot so I am not afraid to try at the very least.
Thanks for any possible insight you could provide for me!
The simplest way would be to just take patchset 4 of those 2 patches and apply it to your rom's source. Patchset 5 is cm specific. Then compile.
There isn't much else.

Looks nice,...
Wouldn't more efficient for everyone that creating CyanogenMod 5 ports to the GSM Hero to team together instead of creating five billion versions of the same thing?
Good work,
It's something I'm trying to do at the moment. Can you share the vendor tree that you used?
I'm trying to modify darchstars CDMA one and still trying to work out how it all fits together.

Just fork Darchstar's CDMA Hero Cyanogen github.
EDIT: I've just created a GSM Hero Cyanogen fork: link.
I don't mind of working together as I won't try to fix common bugs like bluetooth during calls.
Also note that I didn't make a fork of Darchstar's repository, in fact I learned today it exists. Instead I wrote some and modified some of the files needed for the compiling process. My goal as of now is to make a separate section at Cyanogen's sources specifically for the Hero.
So if you're interested, I can upload my work to the github.
I would be interested in your files. It all helps in the learning process.
Good work again

Few bugs I have found:
-Google voice search doesnt seem to work I just get a force close message.
-The animated wallpapers dont seem to work.
Also is their a way of linking my contacts into facebook? cant work it out.
Apart from this all seems to be working so far I'll keep you updated but good job!
Thanks for the feedback! In the next version there will be updated kernel and I hope most stuff will work. As for the live wallpapers -- I did not enable them in the quest for lighter system But I will do so as it seems that with proper kernel our heroes can handle with that
Aaaah, can't wait till tuesday, I will pick he server with the least workload and give it a whole day of compiling

I get the same error now, only on another file (system/xbin/irssi)
Everything is working now. Great rom so far, linpack score is a bit dissapointing though. With overclock it's an average of 2.9.
Forgot to enable JIT, linpack scores of 4.7 now!

General Info:
More information about Firefox OS (B2G) is available here and here. So... I saw this and couldn't resist having a little sneaky play around with it. This is NOT a daily driver. This is NOT stable. It's pre-alpha. If you want something to use as a phone, this isn't it. If you just want to use your phone as a phone, you need android rom.
With that aside, and with the clear understanding that while this won't brick your phone, it's nothing to do with me if it did for some reason, or likewise if your cat (or other cute pet) suffers a painful death as a result of flashing this. At your own risk, like everything else here on XDA-Developers!
So without further ado, WTF is this? Well, it's a project from Mozilla (the lovely people behind the Firefox browser). I won't go into details, suffice to say I suggest you read a lot over at their wiki - start off at https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G and work your way through the pages.
These builds can only be installed with CWM!!!

I would like to see a video too, as i'm very curious, but I´m fine with my actual rom
Actually theres a few youtube videos of what it looks like. Not great videos but at least an idea of what it is. Honestly it doesnt look super different from Android. At least as far as the interface goes.

Hi Folks! So I decided to create a post dedicated for the mods I make especially just for Paranoid.
I wanna thank first
D4rKn3sSyS
and
molesarecoming
for making it possible to give us the best rom yet there is to S II which is
[JB:CM10:HYBRD] PARANOIDANDROID [2.0, True HybridMode, Size & UI on Per App Basis]
Note: This mods I make are not themes! These are customizations on Navigation Bar on the SystemUI.
To have a better idea of what this mod is, refer to the picture below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you are a fun of the navigation bar for whatever purpose it serves you, it somehow ruins the Status Bar in some point. My mod would preserve both the recent apps and home button and eliminating the back button. The reason behind this is because our hard-keys, in time, do wear out and if you wanna preserve them, you would try to avoid using them unlike the back button which is a soft button. I also decreased the navigation key width to allow usage of up to 5 icons in the status bar yet not overlapping with the nav bar.
Installation:
There are 3 types of flashable zip. two of them are the mod itself (With both Recent and Home and with Recent button only) and the other is to restore the original SystemUI. Go to Recovery, flash the zip file and reboot.
I hope you guys like it and if you do! The simplest favor you could do me is hit the thanks button!

It is impossible to use Paranoid Preferences on other roms. Even if you get the apk of it from the rom there is no way that it would function in other roms since there are lots of integration between the app and the rom. Sorry

really Love this mod with PA. but latest PA version disables the new TabUI toggles and i think it defaults to the basic TabUI.
Will you be updating this?
Thanks in advance...
Hi, I'm just wondering if this mod is PA-only or if it can be applied to any AOSP-based JB rom. Thanks!

This rom is mix of many MT6795 AOSP rom created to provide fast and fluid experience of using it. With few changes of UI now it look like AOSP from google compiled from source
Features:
- Pure AOSP, no advanced power menu no battery percent and other things.
- Finally changed that ugly wifi usage icons now I think it looks much better( If someone know how to change dimension of this icon to make smaller gap please PM me )
- No bloatware, live wallpapers etc.
Not working:
-HDR for now. Working on it.
Screenies:
Install:
-flash the rom
-reboot
-flash gapps

Theoretically it's possible but without source code (we use prebuilt kernel and drivers) it's very hard thing to do.

It would be mich more better if you will build an 5.1.1 AOSP Rom in Cause of many better Features and Bugfixes!
But of course this Here is a very nice Rom!
Can you Change the Navigation Buttons to: recent, Home and Back. Its very Bad to Hold Long Home, so would be cool if you would get this!
Nice Job, thanks
?
I won't change it because i want to keep this rom as near as possible to AOSP and recent apps in aosp are under home button
