Hello ,
I want to unlock the bootloader of my ARC S.so i have been reading here and there about unlocking & how to .but i have read ppl talk about DRM key's will be permanently lost if i unlock.
My Question is what is this DRM key's & what role does this play in the handset & What are the effects if we loose this ??

Hello,
New to xda and the modding scene. Just got my Arc about a month ago and I LOVE it! Pretty keen on putting some mods on it but my qustion is, can I unlock the bootloader, root, etc on a simlocked phone? Mine is locked to Optus AU.

Before going nuts on modifying your phone you need to ask yourself if you want to root+unlock bootloader or just root... Not all xperia phones can have their bootloaders unlocked (if your phone was sold by a carrier i.e. branded such as Rogers then you will NOT be able to unlock your bootloader... Technically there is a test point method but it is quite the procedure compared to simply unlocking it the simple way that Sony offers). In the newbie guide it explains if you root your xperia but not bootloader unlock it you can only install custom roms for stock kernels, although if you wanted say ICS beta rom that Sony released then you would NEED an ISC kernel which is only possible to get on your phone after bootloader unlocking...

i want to unlock Sony ericson xperia pro (mk16i) to install custom roms
But i m worried about warranty issue...
Is relocking boot loader of my device Mk16i recovers warranty???...
you can unlock your bootloader by 2 methods
1)doing it thru official sony website
2)test point method...
when done using official sony website, you lose your drm keys(useless) but thru test point method you dont lose those..however, relocking bootloader can only be done on sony unlocked bootloaders to gain your warranty back.....
hit thanks if i helped.

First of all Many many Thanx for reply, Because i was waiting for reply many hours...
Actually i have unlocked xperia pro boot loader without any safety knownlodge but know i relise...
So relocking bootloader will back warranty again??ARE U 100% SURE????
is there any danger from deleting drm files to warranty?
i m going to hit thanx button on ur reply, please reply fast
see drm keys are used only for stupid purposes like trackid and othr utterly useless stuff drm keys never cause problems for warranty because people who use their phones normally can also lose those drm keys...
and yes, relocking a bootloader will give you back your warranty(thanks to sony who does not keep a record of unlocked bootloader phone's imei number)
but remember that relocking can only be done on bootloders that are unlocked using the official method...
Hi, everyone, how i can unlock my bootloader? my Phone says "Bootloader unlock allowed:No"
Only via testpoint method (IF your phone doesn't use the new security). But you'll have to pay for this service.
How i unlock the bootloader? I think I have new security ( test with #*#*78.....*) and it say unlock bootloader : no

New security usually comes with phones made after 12W14 (you can find this info, removing the battery and looking for it). If it's lower than 12W14, high chances it's old security, so you can use testpoint (in Arc S' case, it's a paid service).
There are some people who does this service in the internet, including some members of XDA. Anyway, you and OP should search in xda/google a bit. All info can be easilly found.
Hello everyone
My phone Xperia Play R800, which is rooted, but bootlouder locked, it is quite slow. I thought that would be the time to unlock bootlouder but i have one problem.i got this phone about couple of mounts so i afraid to risk damage to it. before i had xperia x8 and risk everything to unlock and I succeeded.
so my questions are: can I unlock bootlouder without any risk
other is yes can you give a simpler guide with full explanation
I will be very grateful for answers

There is no DRM partition on the Smartwatch 3, you can unlock and relock as needed with no penalty as far as I can tell.
Ok thanks
