My first post...been lurking around for a while.
I feel like this would probably be pretty simple for someone who knew more about what to do.
I tried flashing the zip, then tried using reframe.sh (through android terminal emulator) to reboot into just the framework, then tried editing the framework-res.apk by adding files and moving files to match other Froyo framework-res.apk files...but all of those things failed.
I didn't really anticipate my actions would have the desired effect, but I was trying.
I don't know what would have to be done. If it's simple and someone would be willing to update this for Froyo, I'd appreciate it. I think some others would as well.
In addition, if anyone could point me in the direction of some learning material for this kind of stuff, not just how to theme but also maybe some development guides for beginners, I would appreciate that as well.
Then I could just do this type of thing myself in the future.
Here's the link to an xda thread with WhiteMochi v0.003: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843204
Thanks in advance.
Think alot of themers on the Epic prolly got their start here using Dream's guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821638
Good luck man!
I'll do it.
Do you want the clear notication bar or the solid one?
I would like the solid one, if you could. Thanks a ton.
And thanks to both of you. Definitely gonna check out that guide.

Haha I didn't. But a good guide never hurts.
Do you want the lockmod installed along side?
What exactly do you mean by the lockmod?
My current rom uses the AOSP lockscreen by default so it shouldn't be an issue, right?

I meant maddoggins lockmod for EC05. It includes 6 different locks.
Oh, no. I tried to install it but was having issues getting it to work.
The one straight from the lockmod thread didn't work (FC when trying to view Lockscreen Settings), I found a working version in the framework included with the Nebula rom/theme but didn't like the status bar.
I was under the impression the WhiteMochi just used the AOSP, or were you asking for another reason?

Haha I can make you a version of nebula with a different colored notification bar if you'd like.
I'm sure it uses the AOSP lock. I was just asking if you wanted me to implement the 6 lock.
If you could get the 6lock in with the Mochi that'd be sweet, but it's not necessary for me.
Would be a huge plus though, hahah.
Still looking for anyone willing to possibly port this over to Froyo/SRF.
I'm mainly just looking for a white status bar without a gaudy notification pulldown and attractive icons.
I tried FrostPort v1.2 but personally disliked the status bar icons (all of them).
I noticed that the Galaxy Prevail (the new prepaid Boost Android phone) has a nice white framework, so even a port of that would be killer.
I read up on theming and I have a basic understanding of what to do, it doesn't seem overly difficult. Only issue with me is that I work 5-6 days a week long hours so I don't always have time to devote to studying up/getting in practice...especially as of late.
I have two days off coming up which I'll most likely wind up devoting the bulk of to learning how to theme (devoted my last two days off to my phone as well...don't know how to feel about that).
In the meantime, however...once again...if anyone is up to the task, have at it. I would appreciate it, and I know others would too.
I'd like to see this theme... Where can I see screen shots of the original theme? I have no knowledge of Android Theming or anything. But if there's a pretty good guide, and by pretty good I mean something that will SHOW me how to do it, then I could give it a try. But I'm more visual so a walk through that's text only won't help.
This seems like its AOSP straight to the bone seriously just use the AOSP ROM, whats honestly different?
When trying to flash it via Clockwork it says "Amend script was disabled in this version" or some such thing, and then says "Installation Aborted".
Using reframe.sh causes the phone to not boot (sticks on boot anim).
Hi,
I've made a small change in to the framework-res.apk (and SystemUI.apk for JellyBean) in order to have the navigation bar the same size as the status bar.
This was only tested with stock JRO03C and IMM76I. Proceed with the usual nandroid backup prior to apply.
Files with .jb.zip are ment to be used with JRO03C. Those without are for IMM76I.
Put me in a boot loop on bamf rom. Yes I wiped cache and dalvic. Had to nandriod
I dont think that this will work on other ROM's other than stock(for which it was made) due to the different framework-res. If anyone tries it be sure to make a backup
Would love to get this on bamf..
There should be a way to make it work on all roms

Try using cm9s framework that might make it a universal flash for all roms

Just wondering, what exactly did you change in framework to get it to that size?
AOKP already has this feature built in the ROM for over a month now.
The reason why it's not working for you guys is because the OP states,
This was only tested with stock IMM76I. Proceed with the usual nandroid backup prior to apply.

Meaning it'll ONLY work for stock IMM76I. If you're on other ROMs, those ROMs have a modified SystemUI.APK. So it's causing problems.

It won't because like I said before, every ROM does something different to SystemUI.APK so it won't work. AOKP has this feature built in

I never said you are stupid. But every ROM in the world having this small "mod" with the SAME EXACT SystemUI.APK is impossible. That's like saying that every ROM must have the same framework-jar.apk.
Various ROMs in the dev forum already have this feature. And it's even better, you get to CHOOSE what size you want it to be (46,40,36,30).
It's easy to do this mod yourself. That way you can do it on whatever rom you are running. It can be done in 2 or 3 minutes once you know what to type. GUIDE HERE.
Link to working apktool for ICS HERE. Take framework-res.apk from your rom and place it in the same directory as apktool. Type 'apktool if framework-res.apk'. Then type 'apktool d framework-res.apk', make the changes in the guide, type 'apktool b framework-res'. You will get your new apk inside that directory.

^^ either that or download a ROM with this feature. AOKP is one of them. You can control the size of the nav bar in ROM Control (you can change it back if you like as well). Very easy to do.
Don't most custom roms have this option in settings? I'm on liquidsmooth and have seen this on most of the roms I've used in the past few months. There are tons of options but I use 36px (I've used lower but accuracy comes into play).
Liquidsmooth also lets you set custom icons on the fly, nav transparency, background colors, icon colors, etc. Pretty slick.

Same with AOKP.. tbh most LS features are from AOKP's "ROM Control"
I think people are missing the point. Despite the fact that this phone is a modder's dream, there are good reasons why someone would want to keep their phone on the stock ROM (stability, not having to "re-do" your phone once a day/week, if it ain't broke why fix it) but still might want to do little tweaks here and there if possible.
Example: I wanted to see the battery % on the notification bar, but could not justify the 2-3 hours of work reinstalling 100+ apps and tweaking endless system settings on my daily driver phone just to get it, regarelss of what else was in whichever ROM I'd download to get it.
So, even though I don't plan to use this particular mod, I'm glad there are people working on tweaking stock roms and will encourage them as much as possible.
Here's a modified framework for a small nav bar for those on CM9. I have a Verizon CDMA Nexus so it should work fine on Toro. Not sure how it will fair on others...so be cautious.
I also included one that minimizes the nav bar to 0.0 dp for a full screen experience. This should keep the ICS action bar overflow menu displayed for compatible apps. Works best with LMT launcher or GestureControl.
Flash in CWM. As always, make a back up! Enjoy!
Also included a CM9 stock framework if you want to revert back.
Zephik maybe you should tell everyone one more time that aokp has it, just in case

I think you're exaggerating a bit there. I installed AOKP b31 some time ago and apart from trying out b35 yesterday, I'm still on b31 all that time before on a single flash without having to 'redo'. Also, if you're rooted you can just use Titanium Backup for all those apps. Currently running 350+ apps and using TiBu only takes 30 minutes unattended.
I agree that some people prefer stock, but those people are the ones that will never have any intention of flashing anything on their phone.

Does anyone want to form a team for MIUI porting? The ROM I have is working almost flawlessly, missing just signal. Everything else works (as far as I know). Anyone willing to help?
By the way, for helping me progress thus far, I couldn't have done it without xboxfanj. I'm a noob and am just getting the hang of this, hence, xboxfanj helped with most of this stuff.
MIUI is an awesome ROM allowing customizable themes that can change literally everything. You can change the status bar, lockscreen, home screen, and more all in just one app called themes. Plus, the ROM is super fast and has a lot of toggles, and much more to come with the help needed. Please, this ROM is one of my favorites, if you guys can help, it is much appreciated.
I can't help, but I'm curious as to what base you're using..CM or TouchWiz?

You are incorrect in your answer, it's already been done. So, my question still stands to the OP. As far as I know, patchrom currently only works with ICS however. Maybe you have sources beyond mine. Here's something to look into though. https://github.com/MiCode/patchrom

ah i see actually he just bundled some apps from tw like back when i had a galaxy nexus they had a touchwiz theme that included the launcher and s voice and some widgets. he said that he wanted to add some sammy features to miui so he did lol see tw roms use a different framework and most apps wouldnt work on miui however some people have taken there time to port over launchers and apps and put them there roms.
its like the opposite of putting https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5taXVpLm1paG9tZTIiXQ.. on a touchwiz rom
They have touchwiz based miui on the international note 2, and the at&t note 2. I had it running on my sprint note 2 the other day, but was unable to get the radios to function properly. I had signal, but couldnt select the network I wanted it on and apns werent fuctioning properly. Miui v4 is supposed to be based on stock rom, not aosp, its just easier to port aosp than incorporate it into stock.

I used CM beta (before alpha 1). xboxfanj helped me get partial signal working. There was 3g at first, but then something about sim card activation came up, and then i pressed dismiss..and well.. that made me lose signal. After that I got signal but with emergency calls only.

Indeed we do have a starting point. However, I used the updated version of MIUI for the int'l model to port. It's literally almost done. Only flaw is signal as far as I can see at the moment.
If I remember correctly, aren't all of the Note 2's basically the same thing with the exception of the modems and Networks? (GSM vs CDMA?) Isn't the International version using GSM?

Hey guys! That is my thread Just an fyi that as I believe, the At&T and T-Mobile frameworks are almost identical with very minor difference. Therefor, nearly anything on that thread should be compatible with the AT&T model. Please let me know if you would like me to port it over and I would do it tommorow if there is an interest in it.

I do have every single one running on the T-mobile S3 perfectly. Like I said, I am pretty sure that almost all of them should work on AT&T since it is nearly identical. The only ones that I would be careful of are any mods that modify framework.apk since it is slightly different between carriers. I was actually debating sort of "porting" this thread over to these forums however I realized that it would be much harder to maintain and keep up to date having two exact identical threads. Please feel free though to point every one in the At&t forums over to that thread since I believe that they should all work.
On another note to, check out my other tread in my sig I have a thread of ALL the ports from other devices imaginable and will be adding many more soon to!! It contains nearly all the working apps from the S4 that work great on the S3. I have also many apps from other devices that you have never heard about and ones that I have just ported myself! Check it out cause they where all tested by me on the Galaxy S3.
I flashed sacs note 5 port and im not really a fan of the lte sign for my signal. I like the stock one. Anyway there is a zip i could flash to get it back? Thanks!

I am on the same amazing ROM from ya boy Sac. What you are referring to is the new "heads up notifications" and I hate that crap also. Download the SQLite editor app (found here... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor ), follow the attached screenshots and change the "heads_up_notifications_enabled" value from 1 to 0. You may need to reboot for the change to work.
Hey thanks for the reply. I followed your steps to the T and unfortunately it didn't work for me.

Not sure why, your obviously rooted and I am on the same ROM as you. There is also an app called Heads Off that should do the same thing, give this a try.

Hmm i just tried that heads off bit i didn't see what I was looking for. I know there's a way. I was looking through all of the posts in sacs thread and someoje posted a screen shot and I saw he had the sprint spark icon. Im using 'Flat style bar indicators' on xposed. But i can't seem to get 4g in front of the signal bars. So basically i just have bars...not knowing if I'm on 3g or lte. Sorry for being a headache. Just like all my stock stuff up there. The rom is amazing though. Can't wait for another update. Thank you again for your help
One more thing. I messed with my keyboard the other day and had to reflash stock s6 one. Now i dont have the symbols inside the letters. So i cant long press for a '?' Anymore i have to go to the symbols. Pretty annoying lol. I took a screen shot but i honestly have no idea how to add it to this post.

Best to ask in the Note 5 thread, cant help with that.
Cool thanks for all of your help. I appreciate it
The signal icons used on the status bar are determined by the build prop. "noble" devices use the icons which you don't like. (not to mention that they are not sized correctly in his N5 port). "trltespr" devices use the sprint spark icons that you are wanting, However changing from noble to trltespr can also effect other features in the rom. If you want the sprint icons then you will need to change the ro.device entries in the build.prop to reflect trltespr... use our N4 OG5 build.prop as reference and you will see what I'm talking about. Last thing. Making these changes in the build.prop requires a factory data reset so that the rom can setup again with the new configs. Simply editing them and rebooting will not do the trick.
Usually i dont mind doing something like this but i dont know what to change in the build.prop . If there was a guide I'd read it. But thank you. I'm glad you know what im trying to do lol
So i found this. .... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...988642&usg=AFQjCNEq-YSRLtSLgHf6b8pLijNw0sFyGg ......but it doesnt tell me which line to edit. Then i found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...ps/mod-edit-build-prop-international-t2951057 ...but i cant see the pics that shows you which lines or line to edit....sorry im trying here lol
I got it...thank you very much. Now id like to adjust the size of it but i didn't see that anywhere
