A way to unlock your At&t S3 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to give my positive review about this service: UnlockClient dot com
These guys don't send you any code that may or may not work, instead you are doing the unlocking with their software. everything is very easy fast (minutes) and easy to understand.
I've bought their service on Ebay because I was afraid of a fraud and wanted to make sure that if I pay them the 19$, the job will be done right, otherwise I can claim refund.
Anyway, refund wasn't necessary and I unlocked my SGH-i747 At&t s3 in no time. I know that this works also for the BELL canadian version. You can always visit their website and see all the versions that it works with.
I know 19$ is not cheap, but it's better than 25$

if you have AT&T... you can get the code for free from AT&T.

How about for Rogers?

how about for telus?

Hmmn, the OP has a snowbols chance in hell of me believing this with those whole four posts to his name.
Anyone else have experience of this service?

[Q] Is it possible to buy this phone not from Bell?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone in Toronto area would know a place to buy the HTC Desire Z that isn't from Bell?
Or if it is from Bell, contains no Bell software (unbranded) and is unlocked?
I've been looking and haven't had any luck.
and has anyone noticed that Rogers is falling behind in the phone model area? Their phones are kind of getting outdated...
Thanks!
I uphave one unlocked with rogers....yeh there wayy behimd in terms of android. I suggest checking out kijiji.com or look at ebay or craigslist. If all else fails pm me and ill find you some online.
Sent from HTC Desire Z using XDA App
I purchased an unlocked/unbranded Desire Z on Ebay to use in the states on the AT&T network. It was a North American Version which had the correct 3G bands for ATT. Had a good seller and good experience but the phone was quite pricey. They go for anywhere between $550 and $650 US.
I would suggest buying it from Bell via FutureShop or BestBuy.
You don't have to get a plan if you do that, plus they offer their extended warranties which still cover you if you root the phone, etc (though you should still make it appear stock).
You can flash the official WWE ROM which is basically stock HTC Sense. It won't have the Bell apps, and you don't need to root or anything to flash the WWE ROM (I think). You just need to make a 'goldcard' which is just a specially formatted SD card.

Yeah I was gonna buy one from Bell, but I don't know any trustworthy sites I can buy the unlock code from, which was why I opened this thread, but anyone here know one?

Be careful, because G2 owners have found big problems when they unlock their phones, like not being able to connect to any network after that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835673
Cellunlock.net with the code bbrocks50 for half price. You can find the phone listed a couple different ways. Either by first looking up htc or by first looking up bell. One is chapter than the other. I paid 15.
Zero issues unlocking. I think the issues are limited to g2.
I'm unlocked with Telus currently..and I used HTCsimUnlowNow.com. Seemed to work fine..the only thing was it was initially $15, but then I had to send them another $10 (after paying the 15) because of the Bell carrier or some excuse. So far i've had no problems..and i'm even able to use my BB data plan with the HTC despite Telus telling me it most likely wouldnt work lol.
I was wondering if I'm able to remove Bell's software using a program (TitaniumBackup, for example) or do I have to go through that whole process of flashing this and that to unbrand it?
And how bothersome is the Bell software?
..Although I'm gonna do it anyway but I don't have time right now to mod the phone.
You need root and it takes a lot of time to do it with titanium. It's easier to flash the wwe rom. But the apps aren't too annoying. The lack of htc locations is annoying
To elaborate on my last msg (which I wrote in a rush)..
It's more painful and takes longer to remove the apps manually as you need to root and then use Titanium's force remove method, one by one, which reboots the phone each time and takes forever.
Alternatively you could root and then S-OFF and delete those apps with the root file manager.
Or, the easiest/quickest way imho is to borrow/make a goldcard, download the euro HTC Sync, the WWE Rom, and run the ROM install program. It does the rest of the work for you
I was gonna go buy the phone today but Bell won't sell it unless I go on a plan.
I called up several different places, all the same reply, they won't let the phone go unless it's going out with a plan.
Does anyone know where I could buy it in and around Toronto?

I asked at our local Best Buy (Oshawa) yesterday and they said they can sell the phone without a plan, no problem.
I bought mine today, you can buy it at WirelessWave or Telephone booth for the retail price.
I did notice the timestamp on the text messages are incorrect though, does anyone else have this problem?
I bought mine brand new on ebay for $375, t-mobile branded.. paid $15 to unlock it.
I suggest watching for a cheap one on ebay, maybe even try to bargain with some sellers.

I suggest not buying from bell, or anything that is compatible with bell, unless you need it for ATT US or in Australia. Reason is that they use the wrong frequencies for use in Canada and would lock you to ROBELUS (the old evil phone companies). The US version of the vision is better... still compatible with robbers, but also with the best things that have happened to telecommunications in canada.... ever.
It sounds like we should start an exchange:
T-Mobile/Wind compatible phones exchanged for Bell/Telus/Rogers/AT&T compatible phones...
I'm on AT&T and I'd love to find the Bell Desire Z for purchase at a reasonable price. All the prices I've seen are ~$650 but the phones retail price is $500. Maybe I'm just not used to Canadian taxes... can my Canadian brethren enlighten this ignorant American as to how much the phone would cost unsubsidized after taxes?
You can get them straight from Bell for $565, with tax (13% on 499.95). If you look on kijiji and CL you can get them anywhere from $400-$500.
I bought mine yesterday for $480, no tax, and factory unlocked. It was brand new and sealed and came with a receipt for the warranty.
A lot of people are fooled into paying $600-$650 for an unlocked phone because sellers try to tell them that it costs $80-$100 to unlock it. But if people would take the time to look they would find you can get it unlocked for $25.

You can get it locked for free now, thanks to the fantastic work of scotty. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857390
I'm on Rogers and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find out. Everyone wants to charge an arm and a leg. Trying to trade my Xperia X10 and some cash for a Desire Z.

I've written to AT&T and told them I am going abroad (which was actually true, but who cares) and I need to use my S3 phone with local provider's SIM. They sent me the unlock code for free in a couple of hours. :good:
I paid $7.5 to cellphoneunlock yesterday, the code arrived in about 2 hours and it worked.

Really? I chatted with them online, asked them if there was any way i could have the unlock code for my phone, should the need arise that i have to use it on a different network. Had my code in like 10 minutes.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
I am going to buy a unlock code from mobileincanada as they seem to be priced closely to a couple other sites I've looked at, and I figure why not support a Canadian company.
Thanks for replying so quick guys. I really wish there was a free method of unlocking this phone, but oh well.
I chatted with AT&T and told them I was going abroad. Within 3 minutes they gave me an unlock code for free. I have been an AT&T customer for 2 months only.
AT&T has been known to give out unlock codes for free, but can the same be expected of a Canadian carrier? Highly doubt it.. they will gouge you for $50 for something that probably costs them nothing
I don't think they give out unlock codes at all... I haven't heard anyone or read anything from ANY of the Canadian carriers doing that. I've always read AT&T doing it, if you ask politely.
It can be worth the try, it won't hurt to try. If they don't you can always pay for an unlock code... But always try the free route first.
As asked light night and got denied. I've been with AT&T for years. I might be traveling at the end of the month. I did the online chat and was told I would have to wait until my contract was up before they would do it.

My sgs3 was purchased outright so that may have been a factor.

Unfortunately that only works on the Stock ROM. Personally I'd rather just pay the ~$10 and get the unlock code rather than going through the hassle of going back to the Stock ROM and running through that method.

I am curious if the unlock code can only be used on a stock ROM.
I have an unlock code but it won't work when I try with either a Telus sim or a att sim on my Rogers S3.
Every time I try I get an unsuccessful message..

Review: Unlocking i927R for America

Hey all,
Just unlocked my i927R (which I got from NewEgg -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176361) and thought I'd post my findings, since most places are a lot more expensive for unlocking. I'd seen some places want $40. Rogers wanted $85 (I'm in the US, so I had to create an account with them for prepaid for $60, then pay $25 after... but they needed a Canadian Postal Code... which was dumb, since I live about as far away from Canada as you can in the States)
I used http://cell-unlock-now.com/ and it was $8.49, which was the cheapest I found. Gave them my IMEI number and they sent me an unlock code in an hour. I plugged in a new SIM card, was prompted to unlock, and entered the number -- and it worked without a problem. Phone unlocked and is working great on StraightTalk using an AT&T compatible SIM.
Anyone on the fence about swapping to this phone -- it's totally worth it. Came from the Samsung Epic 4G and it has had a good life -- but it's time to get something a bit faster and better.

As far as I know, you cannot unlock for a continent. Not even the southern one.

Bummer on the $60. $25 is their standard charge for a SIM.

Hawaii?
- hold on, don't you guys have other islands even further out? Phillipines?
- foreign bases, embassies?
(-:
Don't understand why you needed to register / a sim card (unless you wanted one) - wouldn't the unlock code have just worked with the fureign SIM and the unlock code?
I know there are companies that will receive ordered goods that must have a U.S. address destination. Are there no equivalents in Canada?
Naw, I didn't have to pay any of that, is what I'm saying. I just used another service that was infinitely cheaper -- and wanted to let everyone know (or anyone know) who went down a similar path to mine. The site I linked has inexpensive prices for unlock codes that actually work. Otherwise, yeah, Rogers was unreasonable and stupid, but I imagine they're trying to protect people from using a phone outside of their network... but there is no way I'd ever be able to be their customer.
And you're right -- it's not unlocking for a continent, hah! Sorry, been trying to help the Droid 4 folks get organized -- the D4 has a hard-wired (somewhere) stop to not accept US SIMs (even when unlocked), but works great overseas on their GSM networks. So, we're trying to figure out a way to bypass that -- not sure if it's in radio firmware (probably is) or in the ROM (probably not -- nobody has seen anything to cause us to believe it is in the ROM/kernel).
Hi!!
If there are someone interested in it, I unlocked my glide with www* .cellunlocker. *net (without spaces and asterisks) it was about 8 euros (I live in Spain and my phone was bought in usa. I have Simyo and I was in Greek, and Italy last week with it and there was no problem, so I recommend cellunlocker ).
I hope someone find this information useful.

For T-Mobile, you just call them and ask nicely.

You can tell them you are going to Europe and want to use your phone on the trip.
Got me the unlock code for this one.
The codes are cheap on eBay, as well.

As somebody said earlier call t-mobile and talk nice and they might send you the unlock code but this will work only if the phoe is registered with t-mobile (bought from t-mobile)
Else pay for unlock code. many sources available on the web or may try a local dealer who may do it for you.
Good luck
Just read this...damn I was hoping you could unlock it like the G2 bummer guess I'll have to call. I thought you had to have the phone for 3 months though can anyone confirm?

Unlocking the Grand N3

Hi, I am mentally challenged and needs one-on-one help. I want to unlock and release my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to switch to a government program carrier who also uses T-Mobile. The device is from T-Mobile. Right now, I am stuck with money, moving into low-income-housing apartment and I need help to stay connected. I've seen people somehow unlock and release their devices from cerriers before being paid in full. Please help me to do the same on here for my Note 3 then all I need to do is go to the store for goverment provider service to purchase a SIM card. My text is 405-593-8077 and I really need help, please. My only option is to buy a device at a pawn shop, which is scary cuz I dunno why they were pawned. The store has been waiting for a few weeks for S3 to arrive, so I either wait for the S3, or unlock to release my N3 or buy a device at a pawn shop. I need at least 1GB. Their Nokia Lumia 520 and iPhone 4 has 512mb of RAM. So my options are limited. I dunno why the S3 shipment from provider to warehouse are late. Help me on how to unlock, please. If ya don't want to text, then eMail at [email protected] is fine. I've had several one-on-one help here before. Please help.

Since the carrier you're talking about also uses T-Mobile, I'm about 90% sure the phone will not need to be unlocked to use the service. My T-Mobile N900T Note 3 isn't unlocked and I've tested all kind of carriers that utilize their service. Other than my contract SIM I've tested T-Mobile's prepaid, Family Mobile, and MetroPCS and all work perfect since they use the same service and can use identical APN's. However, if you do want to have the phone unlocked to make sure, it's very simple. As long as it's been active on your account for at least 40 days and the account is in good standing (no past due bill) then T-Mobile is obligated to provide you with an unlock code for it if you call and request it.
Now the part about releasing the device before the bill is paid in full, I'm pretty sure you will not have to do that either. That is unless you purchased it under their Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) and you're still paying for the phone. As long as you own the device then I do not believe they can Blacklist it at all. The only time they Blacklist them is for the EIP I explained, and you just stopped paying your bill, or if you reported it lost or stolen.
