Can anyone tell me what version of Youtube the Xperia Play 2.3.3 comes with? I know its pre loaded on the phone and from the store you have the option to uninstall the updates. That's what I'm trying to figure out, can anyone on 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 go into the store and uninstall the updates & tell me what version that leaves you with?
Thanks.

I have 2.32 rooted, I want to update my phone to the latest version but some of my stock apps and stuff are deleted what do i do? Using rogers r800a. rooted with gingerbreak. Someone said use SUES to reinstall the original phone software. How exactly do I do this?
Ok so I think I have figured it out. I used SEUS and i updated.re back but I noticed there was no option to update R800a only r800 so thats what I did. All my stock apps are back and now im running 2.33. 2.33 seems exactly like the one before, there is still no landscape mode on the main screens which i thought i heard was updated.
Hello!
I need to know all the official possible ways available to update the software of my PLAY. Also do mention the best method.
Right now when I go to settings>About Phone> it says that I have the Android version of 2.3.3
I believe there have been 2 software updates since then (correct me if I am wrong).
What do you people think was there any progress in the updates or were they just related to back-end programming?
Thanks.
Im sure 2.3.3 is the latest official version.
Have you connected your phone to your pc and tried that way?
Got my phone today and i have the same version as you, i too get the "your phone is upto date" message.
HTH
Havn't checked through the pc as for yet, but there has to be another update because in this version I cant rotate the menu screen into landscape which I believe was a feature in the latest update.
Which version of the Play do you have?
R800x is the US, and we're stuck at 2.3.3 right now
I think the rest (minus 800at, i haven't heard about them, yet) is at 2.3.3/2.3.4...
My version is r800i. I m not in US actually but in the Middle East. I m pretty sure there is an update bt I m afraid to look for it as it might start updating on its own.
I just need to know all the methods and the best one, and also what data should I back up before updating.
I had an R800a that I flashed to an R800i and in both cases the firmware was still at 2.3.3
Hey what is this flashing stuff, I mean I m new to android and have been using play for over a month, but still don't know what the heck is this android. Please explain this to me. Secondly I also noticed that the updates are country dependent as well like if I m in Norway I have an update version different than that of UK which itself is different than that of Middle East, am I right about this?
And what is the difference between r800x and r800a and r800i and others if there are any?

Guys, I'm sorry to load the noob questions on you but in a nutshell, I want to be able to update my phone to the 2.3.4 update that Verizon isn't allowing us to have.
I want to be able to purchase games without having to go through their sh*tty v z app, I would like to update to other official releases like 4.0 when it arrives.
Right now my concern is 2.3.4 I've read about boot unlockers and roots. Which do I want to do, if either?
Thanks in advance
To get 2.3.4 on verizon, you must unlock your bootloader because only custom roms or stock UK roms have 2.3.4+. You can still update to 4.0 once it comes out, by using flashtool

Very nice guide(s) to rooting, unlocking your bootloader, etc.
There is currently no working ROM for 2.3.4 on Verizon play. You never have to buy apps they Verizon (if you root the phone you can remove the Verizon store) (in fact, they get taxed if you buy them through Verizon instead of the Android market)

I remember the issues when they released 2.3.4, but I just got a fresh Xperia Play directly from Verizon and it came with 2.3.4 and everything works. The push notifications and all that jazz. So I'm just wondering if they fixed it? Because I really like the autofocus and 720p video functions.
And if I wanted root, I would need to flash back to 2.3.3, root, and just update to 2.3.4 if I want right? Thank you!
I doubt we'll ever get another update from verizon.

And hes right he answered your question correctly. Notifications is still broken on the latest 2.3.4 ftf. I think verizon disabled the ota for 2.3.4. Get a third party to push your notifications easy fix.

You can flash Superuser.zip to root your phone on ANY firmware in CWM.

Push doesn't work, check your 3G and cell signal icon, if they aren't lit up green then Google Push Sync isn't working.
I deleted the current play store as I hate the look of it so I downloaded an older version I liked and put com.android.vending-1.apk in data/app but the store still auto updates. I am running venom rom 6.0.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but you'll have to use a newer version.
Even if you could block the update, eventually it'll lose functionality and you'll be forced to update.
AFAIK anyway.
