How to change the "Slide to Answer" without rooting. - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys and gals.
I want to know if there is a way to change the "Slide to Answer" function of the phone without the need of rooting the device?
From what I have read and understand you can't alter the .apk files without rooting first. So that option is out...
I've tried looking for alternative ones in the play store but can't find what I need.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

unlock bootloader > root phone > install custom ROM...
if you are not willing to do that then good luck with what ur trying to do

Rooting-For new members here of XDA Galaxy Y Sub-Forums, Rooting is the Basic Mod we do on our Galaxy Y,Since we bought our Galaxy Y at Samsung stores so it comes with limitations to prevent messing up with your System-level files so the Root method is the answer so you will be the true master of your Galaxy Y.
Advantages &Disadvantages of Rooting
Advantages
-You're already the true master of your Galaxy Y.
-You can now use some Root apps from Play Store.
-You can modify now your Galaxy Y like Custom ROM's,Custom Boot Animations etc. that requires ROOT.
Disadvantages
-Your phone's warranty is already voided,It means that if you messed with your System files ,Then the phone manufacturer will reject your phone as it is rooted already,However you can UnRoot your phone if you have problems regarding the buttons etc.
-You can't use some of their Services that comes with your phone.
Just Google "How to Root Galaxy Y" then follow the directions so you can obtain now root access.
use search button and you will get information faster than waiting someone to answer. don't be lazy.
Ty for answer Sean De Jesus.. I heard for temporary root.. Is it exist? If I root phone, should I install custom rom or can only root? Would I got all settings like custom rom? What if something goes wrong? If they wont turn off or something..? I need more info..

Temporary Root will root your device but once you restarted or turned off your phone,Its gone. Its a good step for new phones to test if root is working fine on that device.
It depends on your mood or your knowledge about modding your Galaxy Y,If sonething goes wrong with your Custom ROM then flash back to your Stock ROM or if you have a backup called "Nandroid backup" you can restore it using Skin's CWM.
rooting is just made in order for you to be able to have admin privileges on your phone so that you can by-pass system restrictions
no need to worry, you can always unroot your phone
using the unroot.zip
ps: it's just piled down due to post like this, use the search button to find it
Pls search before posting..

Samsung Galaxy USA Tmobile S3.. root question

hello all. I've rooted my past phones, and used custom ROMS.
I'm wondering if it's possible to just root my S3, but keep the stock Rom on it? i think it's fast, and I'm quite happy with it!
I'd like to be able to remove some of the bloat programs, and be able to do backups via titanium.
Is this possible?
Would i be able to do samsung ROM updates with ease?
would this void my warranty?
Could someone guide me to the right guide to accomplish this task?
Thanks for your time, and assistance!

Of course you can root your phone and stay on the stock rom, that's where your at after every root! Just don't flash a rom, your not forced to. You will probably have to unroot to apply updates, but I think there's an app in the play store to temporarily unroot the phone, or disable super user & busy box? Your correct on using TB to remove bloat, and there's a thread somewhere in general about what's safe to remove, and it's also best to make a back up before you remove anything just in case. There are guides in the development section on how to root, or for a video tutorial go to galaxys3root.com. It's a site created by user zedomax where he makes videos on how to root & install custom roms/reviews that can be very helpful to less advanced users. I hope I've helped, and if you have any questions, issues, or are just looking for an opinion on something feel free to PM me and if I can't help you I'll point you to someone that can! Best of luck, and be careful!

[Q] Rooting Instructions

Hi,
I am new to android and just received a hand me down phone from my brother.
There are problems when I am filling a text field therefore I cannot log in to any apps. Is there a solution for this or do I really need to root this phone?
If I have to root this, can someone help me? The easiest way possible?
I am not sure how to do this since most of the instructions are foreign to me and cannot understand a thing.
I would really appreciate your help.
Thank you and have a nice day ahead

Noob to rooting! Help with simple questions??

Hi guys,
I've looked around however didn't find the answers so thought I'd just ask as might be useful for someone else too..
I want to install fonts on my Z1 Compact, however understand I need to root my device in order to do this.
I don't particularly want to change my rom or anything as quite happy with it.. Do I have a choice? Also, I'm assuming will lose all my personalisations during the process? Folders and icon location within my menu etc.
Basically, what is the most minimal disruptive way to be able to change fonts on my Device?!

u have to root if u want to change font on stock launcher.
but u can install custom launcher and change font of it. and if u want xperia look on ur phone do this;
install nova, apex launcher > install a Xperia theme
but even in this way u won't be able to change system fonts.
and when u root ur device without unlocking-bootloader i think u won't lose ur data.
cause unlocking-bootloader will erase all ur data (like factory reset)
u need to read about it in dev section carefully and follow instructions
i recommend u to search doomLord works for ur phone (if there is)

Need some help rooting my 5T

Hello everyone
I would like to root my new 5T but I have no idea where to start. Rooting is new to me so I would really appreciate it if someone could explain it to me.
I've noticed that there are alot of different ROMS available, I have no idea what the difference is between all of them and which one would be the best for me.
I'm not looking for the most complex one out there. I'm from the Netherlands so it's a bit hard for me to understand all the topics on this forum and to explain myself correctly.
All help is much appreciated! :good:

Thanks! I'll have a look at that.
I read somewhere that some apps won't work on a rooted device such as Pokemon Go and that you have to install something in order for them to work. Could someone explain this?
Some apps won't work if rooted. Your options are to either not use that app or try hiding root with Magisk (one of phone apps that manages root access). If you use SuperSU for root access or have XPosed installed, then your only option is to not use the Pokemon Go (or whatever app was giving you trouble).
