First let me be clear that I am in no way connected to nor will I benefit from the product. If you are looking for an external battery you may want to check out the POP battery project at kickstarter
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/siminoff/pop-the-intersection-of-charging-and-design.
It is a 26,000 mah charging device with 4 built in retractable ipad/mini usb cables and 2 more standard usb ports. I have pre ordered 2. I think they will probably be the last external batteries I will ever need to get because 1) they have standard usb ports and 2) the battery is so big, that unless we have a serious power outage I can never see my self draining it.
My next move is to put together a solar charging set up so that I could be off grid indefinitely
I've always wondered how effective these really are, looks cool though
I have 2 isound 16000's . I am going to take one to the airport with me to wait on my wife. It will run my flyer all night if need be. I have 9 callpod duo's they are good for one charge on my Evo
Thats a super cool battery backup.
I will keep a eye on this.

Your battery looks interesting but as I check the specs... Your battery is 1700mah. A callpod duo is 3400 mah. The isound is 16,000 mah. The POP is 26,000 mah. If your phone will go two days on your battery it will last the better part of a month on a POP

For a little bit better comparison, awhile back I sat with my flyer, with WiFi on ,running Greader from about 9am on a sunday morning, The flyer was connected to the isound 16000. At 10pm that night the isound was mostly dead but the flyer was full. I wasn't straight using the flyer all day but the screen was on and the WiFi was on.
The Pop should yield similar results charging both the flyer and the EVO 3d with one acting as hot spot and the other tethered

I know quite a few of us have been considering one of these portable power solutions for our EVO's and other devices. Not sure If I'm going to bite as I've already have 3 OEM Evo batteries and 2 Counterfeit's, and I'm struggling to find a situation that would arise that would require me to use all 5 batteries before I had access to power. Unless of course one of those Man vs Wild situation comes up and I'm left to wonder the desert for 10 days (chances of having a 4g or even a 2g signal are probably slim) with only my trusty EVO at my side!

I didn't order it and now im kicking myself. Such a good deal...
Why in gods name would u need so many batteries!!!
*This was posted from my Evo 4G*
Has anybody gotten that double sized battery? I was considering that. Although I'm unsure if the added bulk would be acceptable.

awesome! how many times can you charge it? You should be able to charge it 5 times fully, if it's really an 8000mAh.
Heres a size comparison:
I've used this charger this past weekend. The bad thing about this charger is that you have to babysit it at the beginning of the charge cycle. The Evo won't charge if the battery is overheating, so after pressing the start button on Energizer, the Energizer will automatically turn itself off. But if you wait 5 mins to let the Evo's battery cool down a bit, you can restart the charging cycle. I didn't have this problem with AC or USB charging.
Back on sale - cheaper
Hello,
Thought I would bump this thread to bring attention to w00t.com, as they are selling the same item tonight for $39.99 + $5 s/h.
www dot woot dot com
Seriously dude get Cyanogenmod, turn off anything unneccessary and get task manager. I get 2 days of use. This is a mobile phone when you resort to these types of things it is pointless.
Unless you need it for portable charging station / emergency
The Energizer is back on sale today at Woot for $45 after shipping. I can testify that it works great. Shipping is 1 week processing + ground delivery.

I use an 8000mAh battery for hiking while running the gps, logging my tracks, listening to music etc. Perfect for trains and planes. Sure we might get 2 days out of normal use. I prefer a full battery after trips.
I ordered one of these today. I think it'll be great for geocaching or other long duration GPS uses.
I am going to pull the trigger since I have Amazon Prime, I will let you know how they work:
http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Thun...E5Z2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1308109942&sr=8-5
If they suck, Amazon return policy is great.
Good luck! Kudos to them not trying to lie about them being 1700mah or something.
Please do report back, this looks like a good deal if they hold a decent charge.
Going on vacation in a couple weeks and these would be good to have around.
thanks, good luck.
ordered them and give them a whirl as well!
I read the reviews on amazon... They seem to be pretty good

im interested to know how they work as well!
I'm definitely interested in what you have to say. I actually added this item to my car a week or two ago after looking at the various options available on Amazon.
i just go these yesterday, im charging them as we speak. they seem to weigh the same as the stock battery as well...
I have these same 1700 batts and they are good to go. With my Rom combo and running the battsave kernel with juice defender I'm lasting a day and a half with moderate usage.

So your 1700 is actually 1500??
So far charged mine in 2 hours via wall charger. Feels lighter? And it doesn't fill in the back cover.

Ok... I have cycled both of them once or twice. One lasts a little longer than the other. The good one battery lasts about 6-8 hours, when comparably I could probably get 8-10 hours with my stock battery. The other seems to last 6 hours or so. I can't say my usage pattern has been normal lately so a little hard to be sure on how good they are. Overall, comparable at best to stock, but for 2 batteries, and the external charger, I am satisfied fro $25. So if you were looking to pull the trigger, its worth $25. I always carry a spare with my now, it is kinda nice, because now I just do whatever I want without regard to battery usage.
By the way, I am in Chicago, 4g everywhere, all the time, and am running BAMF Preview 4 on the MR2 radio. I sync an exchange account (push), one comcast account (updates every 2 hours), plus weather syncs every hour. I usually do web browsing, email, couple phone calls, and a bunch of scrabble and XDA browsing.
Thanks for the info, im definately ordering one today
How does the charger work? does it plug directly into the wall?
Anyone know if can be the problem to have 2 different batteries (1 original and 1 fake 2000 MaH - Which holds much less than the original) and china battery charger?
So I charge 2000 Mah battery over charger, take original from phone when ran out and put it in charger and put 2000 MaH battery in phone and start the phone... and doing that over and over... Can something get wrong with phone by doing that? Can something get wrong with calibration...?
tnx
Just out of curiousity what would be a good battery to get mine gets really hot and I wanna buy a new one from someone on eBay or from the accessories section of xda any suggestions on what would give me the best battery life??? Also what does it mean when people say for instance "16 gb SD card class 10" wtf is the difference I got my 8 gig at Walmart lol???
"May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't"
As for the battery, I have a 1900mah battery from amazon. T comes is a 2 pack with a charger. Love em!
For the SD card, the class is how fast it is. As in how fast you can read and write data off of it. Higher the class, faster the card

Thank you how much would that battery cost??

It was on Amazon. It came with 2 batteries and a wall charger. I believe it was $30

If money's an issue, you can get cheap aftermarket batteries for around $10 or less on Ebay.
Mine were $11 with free shipping (3 1500mah + charger) but came from Hong Kong, so they took ~3 weeks to get here. Never had an issue with them and I've had them for at least six months, maybe a year. If it's urgent though, you may want to keep shipping times in mind and buy from the US.

I use the stock battery and can pull 2 days on medium usage
16gb - capacity
class 10 - the read/write speeds and performance. The higher the class, the better r/w and performance. so an 8gb class 2 is worse than an 8gb class 6 sd card.
Ok so I have a red 3.7vdc-1500mah battery I say red because its red LOL I found the one in the pic on amazon would that one be better??

That battery worked great for about a day, then it barely was better than the stock battery. I was cheap and decided to get a cheap one, but it was a mistake. Don't waste your money. If you really want an extended battery go for the Seidio 3500, it works wonders.
Only thing is most of the extended-life batteries have a different back-cover (they're fatter) which means just about any phone case out there can't be used with them.
Just a thought: you said you wanted to get a new batery because yours "gets hot," I found that mine gets hot when I have some program running in the back ground, draining battery life. Try using some app killer program to turn off some things...I noticed on mine Facebook was running, and my MSN Messenger App was too. After turing them off the battery leveled out and cooled down. Also, I noticed it got hot when I was in areas of bad service...like it was constantly looking for better service and again was draining my battery. Might want to turn off mobile network during those times...I found that worked to cool it down too. The battery can tun into a little space heater in your pocket sometimes =P
if you're changing and using the phone it will get hot, specially the evo that has the metal stand on the back.

I just got an empire 1800mah slim extended (fits in the stock door) for 25$ with a 2 year warranty at a brick and mortar place called discount battery supply, after the first week the battery life has been great 8 - 10 hrs heavy usage the first week it was off and on as the battery settled in some days it would last all day and others it would die pretty quick but after the 4th or 5th charge it settled in and has been lasting me all day easily
We are legion, for we are many
i have three regular batteries i carry with me along with an external charger, i want to ask you guys which extended battery last the longest?

What are you guys using to charge these externally. Most of the chargers on eBay will only work if you flip the standard battery over and you can't put the extended battery in it since the pins will be on the wrong side.
I got the external charger from sprint actually

what's the best slim extended battery? the only one posted here has gotten mixed reviews.
There is a 2300mah on ebay. I just have bad luck with these cheap batteries. They endup being garbage. I would say your best bet is to get an external battery, or just spend the money on a real Samsilung battery and pick up a cheap external charger. Carry around the extra battery.
Invasion side note, they have thisvcase for iphones that has an external batter that you can turn on and off, it fits around the phone like a case. Anyone know of they make anything like that for the gs2 phones?

I've had mine coming up to a month soon and I can't drain this thing unless I really try, not to mention I have my screen at 35% brightness all day long. We will see if it dies out but you may have gotten a lemon. Mine fits like a glove so there is more hope here. I've got 63% battery after 10hrs with 4g on all day and 35% brightness. I've listened to about 2 hours of music and surfed the Web and xda periodically through the day. Id say this battery is legit. Best $27 spent.
I took a trip for a cubs game (not a fan, but tix and hotel were free) and didn't charge my phone that night. Used it for plenty of pictures, texting, music during the drive, etc, and after 25hrs I had 30% battery left... Granted Milwaukee barely has 4g, so I rolled 3g most everywhere I went, and on a side note, sprints network is dog sh*t in Miltown, Web pages and maps took sooo long to load.

Hey guys, so there was a thread about a credit card size external battery, however the price seemed a little steep for me so I decide to research on Amazon and found this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GU589GG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I thought the price/size/battery capacity was great so I ordered it to try it out.
I'm attaching a few pictures here. The feel is great, it's a metal casing. It has some weight to it. It came with a very short micro usb to micro usb cable as well as two regular usb adapters. I actually like that the cable is very short, it makes it easier to carry in my wallet along with the actual battery. I started to charge the battery itself and it seemed to take a long time. According to the LED lights it was at around 75% and it took over an hour to get it fully charged which was strange. However, when I plugged it in my N7 2013 (I will repeat with N5 I just had the current app installed on the tablet) it was charging it at around 670 mAh which I was actually impressed by. That seems to be around what I get when I charge my N5 with stock charger. Either tomorrow or during the weekend I will try to get my N5 battery down and see if the actual capacity is close to the descirbed 2,000 mAh. Which for the size of it doesn't seem bad at all. I will be updating this thread so for anyone interested stay tuned! Also, in one of the pictures it looks scratched up. It's just the plastic covering. Once you take it off it's good. Feel free to ask any questions.
Sorry, the images weren't showing up for some reason.

The dimensions are 95 x 59.8 x 4.5mm Net weight: 79 grams. I just posted a few more pictures.
Just some more pics and comparisons. No other camera at the moment so can't compare to the phone.

Update: So, I started testing the charge time/capacity. In about an hour and 3 min it charged from 21% to 71%. The battery level shows around 50% left so the actual capacity should be around the described 2,000 mAh. The charger did get very hot while charging, but I suppose that is normal. The only other complaint I have is one I mentioned in the OP. It actually seems like it takes longer to charge the battery than using the battery to charge the phone. The battery had an approx 90% left, and it took around 40 min to show fully charged. I guess it's not a huge dealbreaker since you can always just charge the battery overnight. Other than that I'm impressed. Especially the 12 dollar price tag.
can you post some pics next to a credit card to compare footprint and thickness?
I didn't want to take pics of an actual credit but this gift card is identical in size to a credit card. @kellybrf
