Hi all,
I recently purchased a Momax battery as a spare battery along with a cheap wall charger (from China) that charges only the battery. Unfortunately, it takes 7-8 hours to charge which is a bit too long for my liking, definitely when compared to the 2 or so hours to charge the battery in the phone.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a separate battery charger? One that actually charges the battery within the same time frame as if it were being charged by the phone...? I was looking at the Momax Smart charger, however am unsure if it's performance will differ from that of the charger I already have.

my captivate is v2.2 froyo rooted w z4 and lagfix, My stock battery barely lasts me through a night at work,
I ordered a 3500mah battery from ebay and when i received it I charged it overnight with my phone off....
The next day was a miracle! Battery stayed at 100% for 2 hours, by the end of the day I still had 60% battery left!
I read that the first couple charges need to be cycled so i tried to drain the battery by playing a movie over and over with screen brightness and volume at max.....
the battery lasted forever, after getting it down to 7% I charged it overnight- sameway with phone off, but now nomater what i do it only lasts the length of a stock battery.
I tried unplugging, plugging back in, phone off , phone on, waiting hours after it says 100%(on charger overnight) and tried ac and usb charging, but it just isnt seeming to charge all the way.
I was going to buy a second extended battery and an external battery charger but all the external chargers i see on ebay say are only good for li-ion batteries up to 2000mah, plus i had to modify my otterbox defender case to support my new battery and it would be a pain to have to take case apart everytime i swap batteries.
Ive been reading for days about what to do to no avail, all the external chargers i see arent rated for 3500mah capacity and I wouldnt mind flashing a custom rom that would support extended battery charging but the more research i do the more confused i get.....
Is there a kernal out there that is stable and supports charging these batteries with no bugs or issues????
What custom rom would be best?
please help......
any info is greatly appreciated
there is no such thing as a rom that supports extended batteries
the phone does
the chargers ALL work for the extended batteries there is no capacity rating limit on them. they do have a charging rate but it is around 350 to 800 mA/H and the batteries are acutally around 2500 mA so devide 2500/500 is 5 hours to charge.
[Review] 3500mah extended battery pictures heres my review - and would have been a better place to post and ask.,...
Cheap Chinese Battery Charger heres my charger. works fine.
[Mod] Battery Charger - USB Upgrade Mod heres my charger mod to charge faster thru USB. 800 ma/h so under 3 hours for extended,
charging on the wall charger or thru the phone takes longer than a regular battery.
charging thru the phone on USB is faster with the official samsung or with a hacked usb charger like above
i get upto 60 hours out of my battery. - under volted properly and custom kernel options..
you may want to wipe your battery stats. but i switch back and fourth no problem.
or your battery has a bad cell. those extendeds are just 2 batteries linked together.

there as an app in the market to wipe battery stats I forgot what its name it might be helpful to you since you're on stock froyo. probably your phone battery stats was in line with your oem battery so to maximized your extended batt you will have to wiped out the current battery stats for your phone to adjust to your new extended battery. I will post the app name later if I could find it. since you are rooted it will be of use to you.
edit: ok I found the app it's called battery calibration by nema download it from the market give it a whirl and observe how it goes..
i remember reading about such an app for rooted phones on a different forum but someone replied saying that it would wipe battery stats but still wouldnt help since the phones stock software is written to only charge a battery to 1500mah then it stops charging.....
Do u think it would work or am i screwed unless i flash a new kernal?
would be worth a shot.......
Is it best to wipe battery stats when extended battery is drained b4 charging.... or when fully charging .... or does it matter?
thanks guys for the fast responses!.....
so any of the chargers that fit my battery should work then.... they have the same specs as yours... so i will go ahead and order one for now,
I guess the surest way to know i am getting full charge would be to use the external charger...
So an extended battery should fully charge in the phone with no issues? Ive read so many forums that say a custom kernal is only way to charge them 100% in the phone???
no.. to charge at 100% speed. and i havent heard of any kernel for that in the captivate forums...
ie using the official samsung charger (usb) will charge at full speed the one that comes with your phone is 750 ma/h. if you plug into a non official charger the phone will only let in about 350ma/hour through the usb. or hack it.
i have the usb that came with the phone.... so i will get 750ma per hour if i connect usb to computer only or it will charge that fast on the samsung wall adapter also?
the wall adapter only!
the phone has to see the official CHARGER to charge full speed. or hack the other CHARGER, other wise it charges at what it calls "usb" so charging using usb would be slower too. if you read the [mod] link above, or all the other times i said CHARGER above, you would understand,
alright....thanks bro
charging via usb from your pc will always be slower than using a wall adapter.
not true.
aftermarket chargers (not samsung) wont charge the phone any faster than the pc
....unless you mod it!
[Mod] Battery Charger - USB Upgrade Mod
unless the middle 2 pins of a USB cable or the charger itself has the 2 pins shorted the phone charges in USB mode 350ish mA/h with the OEM chargers or a modded charger it charges in "AC mode" upto 1100 ish mA/h
the charger that comes with it supports this mode but only 750mA/h max output.
....
.......

ya.....
I have an LG Lucid which isn't half bad. Unless you factor in battery life.
So I'm ready to pull the trigger on a spare battery or two, as well as a wall charger. You know those ones that you plug the battery into itself.
Anyone have recommendations on an inexpensive, decent charger that will charge a 1800-1900mah battery within maybe 6 hours or so?
Thanks!
Oh- looking on amazon if I can, as I have a gift card.
I just did this for my S3.
I can't recommend one for your phone, but once you know what to look for, it's the same basics across all batteries and chargers.
Do you want it to charge slowly ? You say 6 hours, but that seems awfully slow to me. Is that the point - so you can leave it on overnight ? I have a charger that chargers my 2200mAh battery in ~4 hours.
Look for a charger that will charge at 600+mAh. Often it will charge faster if connected to USB. You want to avoid the ones that charge as slowly as 300mAh. I guess they're good if you want to leave something overnight, but they're going to take ~8 hours to charge the battery !
Anyway - no matter if you want it to charge fast or slow, just look at the mAh output and do the math compared to your battery capacity - you can even use a "calculator" that will do the math for you (but it's really easy - "2200 / 600 = 3.6" - so 3.6 hours, but with some wiggle room for lower than 100% efficiency).
I got mine from the brand Anker - they were one of the few that offered a charger that wasn't ridiculously slow. It's 600mAh from an outlet, 1000mAh from USB (meaning it could charge the battery almost twice as fast). It came with two spares and the charger. All the reviews I read didn't say great things about the "universal" chargers, and they all seemed to have lower rates of charging - but maybe I wasn't looking at the right ones.
Well i found this link in AC forums, if anyone is interested. Ive been looking for this kind of charger coz I never like using a charger cord for a phone, i just want to swap a battery and charge the other one.
So what do you think about this?

I ordered one. I'll let you guys know how long it takes to charge the oem battery and zero lemon once it arrives "around the 20th" from chinaland.
I was also looking at this charger. It claims it can charge the OGP battery however, the DC output is 4.2 V instead of 4.35. According to Anker and also my own experience with 4.2 V output charger, it cannot charge the OGP battery to 100% (~90%). So maybe the other pricier charger below is a better choice.

Got the charger and it managed to charge my extended zero lemon battery up to 100% in around 12 hours from 2%. Barely fits and stays in as its just a friction/pressure fit and the extended cells on the back cover the charging led but if you smash your head against the wall you with it plugged in you can check on it.

hey guys, I just got this LG Optimus G pro off of Craigslist, and while I'm sure that the phonewas worth the deal, I just got a few questions.
1.the battery life. I've been using it constantly, and I've managed to get it up to about 75 percent battery. When I check my battery usage,it says that I have about 4 to 5 hours of used before it dies. Is this normal? I'll read the reviews and it said that this thing had an awesome battery. I went ahead and ordered some brand of battery (lemon-something) that came with 2 standard amp batteries and a wall socket battery charger. so do I need these batteries because mine is drained or is that normal?
2. the wall charger. I do not currently have the original manufacturer charger, but I am using a LG branded wall block, with a SamsungUSB. It seems to charge it okay, but when I'll plug it in I've got to tilt it up just a bit, and then it will start charging, even after I let it go. I had some generic Motorola Droid charger plugged up to it, I didn't have to wiggle it around at all, but I had to quit using it because it didn't have enough output voltage to charge the phone. Is this an issue with my charging port, or just not having the original manufacturer charger and charging cable?
thank you so much for any replies and taking time out of your day to help me.

The battery life is awesome on here. Yes, it's probably because of your USB cable. I haven't used anything but the charger my phones have come with for well over a year and all worked perfectly. When it says 4-5 hours of use, that means actually using the phone. Not standby. Not sure how well the 3.1amp ZL batteries perform, but I have the 9300mAh one and I'm loving it. Days on a single charge and comes with a TPU case.

1) Battery life IS awesome. Turn on Quad Core Control in Battery settings to make the most out of your phone.
2) I also bought mine 2nd hand without the original charger. You only have to replace your USB cable coz it's probably worn out. I've used all sorts of chargers (generic car charger, samsung, nokia) and never had a problem with any of them.
I second the idea that at usb cable is bad.Im using a generic ul last for sb cord right now and it charges just fine and the charge will last for a full day or more depending on use
Im coming from a G2 and both have the same battery capacity and the g3 takes way longer to charge.
I have data and everything turned off. Its been about an hour and its only charged about 38%.
I was using the original wall port to charge but that took way longer, now im currently using a 2amp samsung wallport.
Anybody having issues with charging?
Two hours to fully charge a 3000mAh battery doesn't feel that crazy to me, I dunno.

2 hours 80%
With my experience, using the stock G3 charger works the best it seems.
When I first got my two white G3's last week, I set both of them up to charge next to each other. One was on the stock charger and another was on a normal HTC 1amp block (from my HTC One M7), obviously the stock charger was just a tad over 2x faster.
I then changed out the 1amp block and used my Note 3 2amp block and the Note 3 charger was about 33% slower to charger than the stock charger, quite surprisingly.
Bear in mind, the stock charger says it is rated at 1.8amps.
They were both setup and tracked with % increase in charger over a 2hr period, over two separate days, both with same services, brightness and other comparable settings to track as even as possible use and drain/charge.
Also of note, I saw that the battery for the G3 is a Lithium Poly and not the normal Lithium Ion batteries, was were in my Note 3, that might make a difference, but I am not entirely sure (haven't had a chance to research LioP batteries over LioIon).
