After 2.3 update, constant boot loop - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I have tried to upgrade S-ON, not rooted Desire to Stock 2.3. After that Phone constantly restarts at white HTC screen. I can get into fastboot, but can't downgrade to 2.2. I can only flash the same 2.3 rom from shipped roms and the end result is the same.
The phone was 2.2 before upgrade, here are the details:

Have you whipped the dalvik cache? Boot into recovery, advanced and while dalvik cache, it should be ok after that
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app

I think he has stock recovery. He wont have the options to wipe dalvik cache. He will only have option to wipe data and cache. If he wipes data he will lose all his apps.

I don't have recovery, as handy guessed and I really don't care about data in the phone, just want to return it to working condition. It was 2.2 stock, S-ON when I tried to upgrade it to 2.3. Now I have boot loop and don't know what to do. Did factory reset from fast boot, but it didn't help. Still boot loop.

Well you are in stock territory. Not too many options.
- wipe cache and data and retry boot.
- wild guess remove sdcard and boot
- run ruu as per instructions. That is run the exe from pc with phone in fast boot mode.
- last resort use the revolutionary.io path

Guys, thanks for your help, but it looks like hw fault. I have put the phione in the fridge (yes, I know, crazy but....) for about 20 min. After that phone booted and worked for a couple of mins and started rebooting. Again in the fridge and it works....
Looks like a MB fault.....
Thanks for your help, I know it's not my mistake now.

HTC Desire Stuck on HTC Logo (Different Problem)

Guys,
I have read all the thread but all the described solutions are not working. My HTC Desire is stuck on htc logo, it came from a friend and i don't know what he has done on it. Its Hboot is 0.93 . Iam thinking this is an SLCD model , i don't have the box with me and my friend have also thrown away the box.
When even i start the phone, it vibrate 7 time and then only shows HTC Logo. I have put the phone is boot-loader mode using power+back button and flash an RUU exe but the phone again boots to the HTC logo and gets stuck ( no error on computer, successful flashing). Then i tried PB99IMG method using hboot, the process successfully complete but still same problem , not getting passed the HTC logo screen and vibrating 7 time. Let me describe more, the phone has HBOOT and FASTBOOT Accessible but RECOVERY goes back to the HTC logo and gets stuck. I dont know that it came with HBOOT 0.93 out of the box but currently it has HBOOT 0.93. The fastboot information is as follows.

it was succsessful to flash PB991IMG.zip (renamed from shipped-rom)

Please help..
Probably a faulty motherboard. Send it to htc for repair under warranty.

Could it be the SD card? If its been rooted it might be missing the ext3 partition which some Roms need to boot.
Just a guess. ;-)

flashing a RUU also does not fix this. stock rom does not need ext partition
it is not the fault.
Try a modded ROM and see if that boots.
I couldn't get a stock ROM to work either.

I had that problem too, try wipe all data, cache and dalvik cache and install different kernel.

You need to flash RUU to fix this

I have try many solution found on web but nothing works...
if anyone have a idea...
P.S: Sorry for my bad very bad english...
well, what kind solution found on web did you try? what version of stock did you have before thas issue?
have you tried to reinstall offcial RUU??
I try with adb but my htc still offline.
I try to run different RUU...signed but always error like Failed remote 42 custom id check fail..
I try many times to reset factory, etc...
the only way that work i with fastboot... i can see the device, run command like fastboot oem rebootRUU, but impossible to do more...
I search a command with fastboot to change the s-on to -off or for adb see my htc....
Your DHD is branded, and as such you will only be able to run a RUU for your particular network/carrier.
If you let us know what that network is we can find a suitable fix for you.
My phone is branded by swisscom (switzerland). i have tried some Ruu... but always an error appears....
With the command fastboot oem gencheckpt

Using the exe RUU it's again s-off.... that's strange, isn't it?
up.
do I have tu erase the recovery with fastboot in order to re flash it?
i've already viewed the Bortak's guide but nothing worked
I never need to erase anything before flash recovery.
You probably not S-OFF, try to boot into bootloader first by turn it on while holding back key, what do you see on that screen ?
so i've tried many things and.... it boots!
i've downgraded the alpharev hboot
then install recovery via fastboot
install hboot cm7
flash radio
and flash cm7 rom and wipe
thx to all the support provided by this forum!
how do you do that?

[SOLVED] - Can Access FastBoot but nothing else...

Hi All,
Phone is PVT1, almost two years old!
Flashed a Kernel last night, and all was not great, but phone was still working...
Today having a lot of trouble with it... Restored a nandroid, restored my titanium from schedual, took a nandroid just in case...
all was fine for a while.. Came home to play with it a bit and it froze...
I can access fastboot, but nothing else.. Everything else is stuck on splash screen... adb shell tells me no device found, so it isnt booting at all, as far as i can tell!
S-Off, was running GingerVillain 3.3, Manu Kernel, was custom mtds, but just flashed cm7r2.. old cwm 2.5.0.7 - very confident with my desire... will try anything... its just stuck on splash screen at the moment!
Has it died? Any help appreciated...
Should I Flash a RUU, and if so which one? I have no idea what my phone was when I got it... it was from CarPhone WareHouse, sim free (no bloatware), on 2.1, i imagine that is the WWE but there are loads...!
some more info...
I have tried flashing a new recovery after following a guide here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632
and used the below.. including flashing a new recovery...
the fastboot oem gencheckpt - this comes up...
cd c:\android-sdk\tools
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
fastboot oem gencheckpt (this command boots you into recovery, ignore the feedback from cmd)

What is the problem with sdcard? Thats not clear. If you are not able to access sdcard have you tried Bortaks thread no 13
Problem basically is that i cannot access to the Sdcard at all... And the problem is in the desire... The sd card works perfect in other android devices or PC.
I had it in a mildwild rom and seem to work well. I swap over cyanogenmod and I still could get access to the sd card. But something is wrong as some times I could get access other times i couldn't... i decided to get back to the stock rom and now I cannot get access at all... I have tried everything and no luck. But the sd slot looks like in perfect conditions.... not sure really what to do, as the phone now is useless....
Did you try these commands from the thread I quoted
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig

I am now really surprised... i tried the above hundred of times and it did not work. Now, I just tried with the last line "fastboot oem eraseconfig" and i see the Sdcard!! Brilliant! I got usb brick after that but not bother at all, my sd slot is alive and that is a great start! Hopefully for good... let see...
If usb brick u should try 4ext recovery and has a usb unbrick option in recovery. Never tried it but a lot of people said it works perfect.

I am start thinking that the phone is having hardware issues...
After everything working perfect, I managed to root, add recovery and install a rom (ICS BETA 0.18.2.1 rom that worked flawlessly), then the sd card and wifi stopped working...
My happiness only lasted 2 hours... Do you know if the wifi antenna is near the sdcard slot? I think is a heating problem... but even when the phone was cold, both did not worked... i tried to wiped data but the same...
Any hope?
