It's been discussed. There's nothing confirmed but a model number "era42" that appeared in T-Mobile U.S.' inventory system with a September release date. One of the rumors is that it'll be a "G" series phone. Those are phones that have their overlays removed so they appear vanilla. It's the same device with the same s/w with the overlay, in this case Sense, hidden. T-Mobile did the same thing with the G2 (Desire Z) and G2X (LG O2X). So it's probably going to be a stock One X without Sense, most likely in a different color.
There's another Teg3 One X that's shown up in benchmarks during its testing. It's an "Evita" phone which means it's XL based. It's got a 1.7GHz Teg3 chip in it and an Icera LTE radio which is also produced by Nvidia. The ROM signature shows it going to AT&T.
Neither phone has passed through the FCC so they aren't around the corner.
It looks great!
nah its not happening, they already pissed off all there customers with a phone that barely works. Imagine now releasing a slightly better one.... it would be HTC suicide.
looks like mine ^^

None of the G devices on T-Mobile have been "stock." They are "stock-like." All the OEM drivers and codecs and other proprietary s/w is still there. It's just the overlays that are removed. In the LG G2X the overlay wasn't even removed, it was just disabled. It took just as long to get updates as it did for any other phone with an overlay. The devs found this out when they were modding the stock ROMs. Only Nexus phones are stock, as in "pure Google."

There's no reason it couldn't be. T-Mobile U.S. runs a HSPA-only network. But since the One S has the same Qualcomm chip as the XL and it's already been modified for T-Mobile's AWS bands you could be right as it would be the easiest approach.
It would be pretty neat if it was Senseless but with the same hardware as the international One X... Like the G2/Desire Z - it would make AOSP much better for us, because they'd presumably bring Imagechip support to the table.

That's one of the reasons why it won't be Sense-less. Sense is much more than just a launcher, so even if it appears to be AOSP phone, it would still be running Sense.

No lol. Not even close to a consideration here. It has Sense. And its not a Nexus... by the time this comes out the Nexus will be 5 months old and it still isn't a consideration for me.

Yes. Its gonna have Snapdragon S4 dual core (which should have good performance though) in order to have AT&T LTE.
Also, it only has 512mb RAM. Releasing in April... Really?
The phone hasn't been released. The quad core version might best the Nexus but still have sense.

HTC put themselves in trouble the way I see it.. they release a few new phones that are not very impressive.. yea it has ics and a few cool features and a quad core processor which every phone will soon have but not anything to die for... I would take a gsII over this and its a year old... and now with the GSIII coming out soon, this will be outdated in know time.. I'm slightly disappointed:/ so I will defiantly be holding on to my nexus for at least a year unless Samsung really impresses me!

Why does it matter that it has Sense? You and majority of the people on XDA have a custom rom loaded. Even though the Galaxy Nexus has pure Android, many use a custom rom.
If you were given a phone with 512mb ram and 1gb of ram, I bet you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
An April release is considered good for Android. That's a little over a month away. Android manufacturers are notorious for announcing a device well before the release date.

HTC sucks. After the hd2 there hasn't been one good device from them. Our device will not be outdated. Nexus s and Galaxy Nexus will be future proof. I'm only supporting Samsung they seem to be the only consistent company as far as devices.
How about releasing a quad core hd2 with a better display and ffc. That phone will never die. Endless support.

Actually I don't have a custom ROM. That's why I bought a Nexus lol. And that doesn't mean I can't hate on Sense (had an Evo 4G, and I'm scarred for life). I'm glad they're making it lighter than previous versions, but its still there...

Thing is, its being released already behind on this spec. Phones already have 1gb RAM. It will be VERY tired with 512mb a year from now when I'm expected to still be using it. Not future proof at all with 512mb, that's my point.

Generic "OMGZ! A NEW PHONE VS OUR Nexus" answer:
No, I'm not interested, otherwise I would take part in the discussion in the proper sub-forum.
Also I'm not interested if there is any extra UI on it that I cannot disable/uninstall.
The manufacturer doesn't release the original ROM for download so I can flash it back if necessary? Not interested.

The US version has an LTE radio, which means an extra antenna. Even the Galaxy Nexus GSM is different size than the Verizon version, mostly in the antenna hump at the bottom.
It annoys me no end that phone manufacturers make different devices and call them the same thing (like all the SGS2 variants out there). I have a "real" SGS2 (i9100), and my friend has what he calls an SGS2 (the T-Mobile version) and they are nothing alike, not even the same screen size. It really confuses things for people.

Just wondering everything we know seems to suggest a "nexus" phone really, even if it won't be branded as such. I did not care for the LG version, so I skipped it but I am seriously thinking of upgrading to the Moto X unless the information posted so far turns out to be wrong.
Not on Verizon lol
Edit: for me, I like specs. This phone will not keep my interest with mid range specs. Maybe if I see the software on this phone with the Google optimizations, I might consider. For now, eyes are on a potential Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 smartphone.

I think my power button is going out so I'm sort of in the market for a new phone(thank god for volume wake/navbar screen off). As long as the price below $250, gets better battery life than our GN, I'm in. But I'm also curious if this IS the new nexus or if they'll be releasing another $350 Nexus with better specs later this year.

dancingtortoise, it's not a new Nexus phone: the Nexus 4 will still be in available for sale. We can probably expect a new Nexus phone for Oct-Nov 2013.
Yeah, I like the customization options for it, only thing holding me back (and only by a small bit) is the last year specs. That said, if the price is right then I'll pick it over the Nexus 4 and finally drop Sprint to switch to TMobile. Regardless, the Moto X price I think will be the deciding factor, if it's $200-ish then alot of people will probably get it just based on the hype alone. If it's $300-ish or more then I imagine it will fall more into a niche market.

The Nexus 4 was too flimsy, heard waaaaay too many horror stories about build quality, easy breaking and lock ups. And anyway the hardware improvements were not a big enough upgrade to me, and I already had the software on my GNex. The hardware upgrades here seem more of an actual upgrade(i like the alleged 32gb option). Even though as before I will have to wait and see, and I will already have the new software upgrades since I am assuming this thing runs 4.3

And what device on Verizon DOESN'T have a locked bootloader (GNex doesn't count)? The One when/if it hits? Well, if you like the One, go for it. Based on what was released earlier today, the Moto X/Droid line is far from "mid range specs". Hogwash, pure hogwash. The mid range spec thing was a rumor based on rumor. Motorola didn't say that and neither has any carrier. It was assumed because the processor was listed as "dual core" on FCC filings. Further, we haven't really seen the device in action yet. So far it looks like stock Android with a couple of Motorola widgets and some custom icons tossed in here and there along the OS. Looking at Motorola's X8 processor, it seems far from "old". Just because you read "Dual Core" online, it doesn't really mean a whole lot in this case. Is it going to be developer friendly? Probably not. But it depends on what you want. If you want to spend the life of your device flashing buggy roms and waiting for CM XX.XX to finally finish right as the next version of Android comes out so you do it all over again, well, then it's probably not for you. I think the X8 looks very intriguing.
For me, if it runs smooth, fast and lasts as long as my GNex does with my Hyperion then frankly it's a home run. I've always looked to Nexus devices to get the latest updates. Now, with Google's new APK's, that's less of an issue to me. Further, with Motorola having exclusive right's to develop the "Droid" line for Verizon and talks of them slowing down device roll outs, I'm thinking that this might provide opportunities for more updates (Especially with Google having a hand in Motorola now).
Don't like it, don't buy it. Personally, I moved to Verizon for the GNex knowing full well that it might be the only thing remotely close to "Nexus" that the carrier ever got. If it runs smooth with zero lag then that puts it up there with the One, and both will stand above the S4. Looking at a Spec Sheet is right up there with a redneck showing off their belt buckle size. People are duped into buying laggy crappy phones with awesome spec sheets every quarter.
Chase those quad cores that don't even have software and apps optimized to use them.
Do you optimize, bros!?

I don't know if Verizon cares or not, but there are a lot of g'nex users keeping their phones due to lack of a satisfactory replacement. Maybe that will put a little pressure on big V to have 1 nexus phone on their service.

Hopes for htc ONE X to update :
Before questions could even kick off, HTC revealed in their Reddit AMA that — although they may not have the best track record when it comes to delivering timely Android software updates in the past — they’re hoping to change this image moving forward. How, you ask? Well, HTC has formally announced their new commitment to support all their future flagship devices with major updates for 2 years after they’ve been released.
Pretty bold words, considering HTC recently announced that the HTC One X and One X+ would no longer receive updates past Android 4.2.2 (which just rolled out last month, by the way). But according to HTC, it was a lack of support from NVIDIA that caused them to drop support for the global One X and One X+ (which ran the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset). So then what happened to the One X/XL in the US that uses a Qualcomm processor? Apparently, they didn’t feel like it would have been fair to only update X, while leaving the X+ users high and dry.
But, after much feedback from the One X community, HTC is now announcing that they’ve changed their tune, and are “actively exploring” how they can upgrade the HTC One X to Android 4.4 KitKat.
http://phandroid.com/2014/02/14/htc...s-for-2-years-exploring-kitkat-for-the-one-x/
Seriously?!? And, of course, they would only update the One X using the Qualcomm chipset, meaning the AT&T One X and the One XL? And leave the X+ completely out?
Sure, it would make some HTC One X users happy, but leave MOST of us ANGRY AS HELL.
I don't get it, why not pressure Nvidia to give support for their chipset? They did provide support for the Nexus variant, why not resurrect support for our version as well?
Well fingers crossed ,may be some glimmer of hope still .
So really we should be petitioning nvidia as well as htc

HTC promises to explore Kit Kat possibility for one X. But explicitly stated that is the North American version. Can we expect some love for the international version too...

But what does exploring mean? I mean they are talking about the updates like they are going camping. How well it would run.... That is a joke statement i hope.
Edit: i dont think it is only for the evita btw

Made one for nVidia too Here
Sign and share this too because its actually nvidia who is not providing support.

I don't get it, why not pressure Nvidia to give support for their chipset? They did provide support for the Nexus variant, why not resurrect support for our version as well?

That seems to be the right way to do it. Looks to me that Google already presured nVidia because the T30/T33 versions got 4.3/4.4 BSP and the AP33 didn't. Very strange since the architecture of those chips are almost the same. So nVidia has no reason not to release the same BSP sources for the AP33.
HTC should pressure them hard because theyve bought a lot of chips from nVidia and they cannot just cancel support after less than two years.

Great. We're getting a good response from users. Is this link posted on the X+ forums? If not maybe we can to increase signatures.
