I have an unlocked TP2 using it on 3 network. I want to use it as modem with my XP laptop. I can't get it to work and I have no installation disk. It syncs with my desktop running Vista but I can't get it to recognize it as a modem either. Any suggestion?

Thanks for your help. I eventually just gave up and bought Wmwifirouter which works perfectly with it making the phone a wifi hotspot. I have my phone synced with my desktop, using Vista but it wouldn't recognize it on the XP laptop but this works fine.
I have a Sprint Epic 4G that doesn't even come up in device manager when I plug it into my computer, in any instance. I've tried everything I can think of. Recovery mode -> mount USB, download mode, tethering mode, debugging mode, mass storage mode, 6 different cables, including the cable I used to flash this phone (and others) with no issues on several occasions. I've used every USB port on several different computers (work computer, laptop, home computer, girlfriends computer, etc) 3 of which I've successfully used to flash phones in the past. Every single way I try it gets no reaction from any PC, it doesn't even try to install drivers, because the computer doesn't see the phone when it's plugged in. The phone however does charge when connected to the computer.
I've also tried different SD cards, wiping all of my caches and wiping the data folder. I'm running Kernel Version 2.6.35.7, Baseband EH06, Build number GINGERBREAD.EH06, 2.3.4 firmware and CWM 3.1 is installed, so I could try downloading a zip onto my phone directly and flashing something, if someone has a suggestion.
Also, if there is no apparent solution, is there a way to flash to complete stock just using CWM recovery so I can take it back to sprint and get a replacement? If so, can someone point me to a thread that contains instructions and/or download links?
Every computer in my house is running windows xp (zero out of three being laptops) and I can not connect my phone. My girlfriends laptop is running windows XP and I can connect and my friends laptop is running windows 7, both read it fine. Two more desktop computers running vista and 7 are able to read it so I've come to the conclusion that desktops running xp can't detect our phone lol.

Search for ReRFS ROM in development forum. You will still be stuck with the EH06 modem though so unless you get a snotty tech they shouldn't notice. They are still suppose to fix it regardless of root.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try that.
Update: Flashed to stock, stick with CWM 3.1 recovery, still no dice on the usb connecting to anything. Any more ideas before I flash to stock recovery and take it back to Sprint?
I am running a stock ATT Galaxy sIII. I have never rooted it. Like a lot of you I was very excited to see the jelly bean release. I downloaded the latest Kies software from Samsung on my Windows 7 box. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise. I installed it and proceeded to connect my phone. I have the usb debugging checkbox checked. The pc recognizes the phone and brings up the popup if i want to do the camera import or open a file explorer when I connect it. I am able to open the file explorer and see both my card and my phone just fine. However, when I have Kies up and connect the phone it just says Connecting and sits and spins forever never connecting. I never get any errors. I tried the troubleshooting where I re-installed the drivers and it still does not work.
I saw several postings on many websites complaining that 64bit os have issues with Kies. I then did the whole thing on a windows XP box. I still get the same exact response. Sit and spin forever just trying to connect.
Any ideas or suggestions? I even removed the memory card and it made no difference. I really want jelly bean and I am pretty frustrated. Thank you for your help.

I have problems with it as well but got it to work on xp, couldn't get it to work using an HTC cord all I did was switch to the cable that came with the S3 and it worked but in my case there must be something wrong with the HTC cable. Try a different cable just in case.

make sure you use the stock samsung usb and plug it directly into the back of the pc not through a usb on the front of the pc or especially thrpugh a peripheral.
I have a Stock, unrooted Sprint S3 SPH-L710 Android 4.3 Build number JSS15J.L710VPUCMK3 Hardware version is L710.14.
Problem is, I've recently have had two different S3's and both of them cant transfer files over USB when connected to my PC running Windows 7. Windows recognizes the phone as a media device and I can browse the file system but I cant transfer files to or from the S3. Windows goes through the copy process but the progress bar doesn't ever move and eventually fails after 30 minutes. During this time the progress bar hasn't moved at all, maybe a 1/4"
I have all the drivers installed and everything and have tried different USB cables and no luck. Have also tried to root both devices and ODIN see's the phone and goes through the process of root but always fails at the stage of installing the recovery.
From the information I've provided above it seems pretty obvious the problem is with the computer or USB cable but my girlfriend also has a S3 and hers is fine. She can connect and transfer files no problem, quick actually. Hers is the same hardware revision and version of Android.
Any ideas would be great!!
Thinking about it, seeing as it's happened with the past 2 S3's I've had and my girlfriends phone is fine, maybe it is Windows causing the fault and my girlfriends phone has some unidentified "thing" that allows to bypass the Windows "fault" ??
Anyways I'm lost and would very much love some help
As first,
please don't be mad on me, I'm first time here. So, if I missed a forum rules or missed a right place in forum to say my problems, please don't kick me off.
I have Samsung GT-N7100 (Note II), over two years. Recently (maybe a two week ago) I upgrade a security settings on my mobile (annoying message, almost every day). After that I can't connect my phone with PC with USB, on every PC that have Windows 7 64 bit version, just charging. On PC's that have Windows 7 32 bit version, or XP, everything works fine. I have a PC with dual boot (win7 64 bit and Win7 32 bit), and with same cable I can't connect on win 7 64 bit version.
I don't use Samsung Kies, just normal USB connect, USB debbuging is ON, restarted mobile, restarted many PC's, but unfortunatelly I can't connect my mobile with PC.
Please help
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Good luck
Same thing happened to me some time ago, didnt find a proper solution and just refleshed the stock rom, use Airdroid to save your media (uses wifi)
Most interest thing is that I can connect via Bluetooth, on any version of Windows, but with cable, only on Win 32 bit version.
Now, I wait for Stable confirmed version of Android 5.0 (or higher), so I will flas my mobile.
