Can anyone post a step by step how to on installing the T-Mobile WM6 ROM on the non-branded Euro version of the Excalibur?
I've tried a couple of times following pieces of info, but unsuccessfully.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Second that....keep getting "invalid vendor id" even though it is sim/cid unlocked. Won't even run the bootoader! Help!

sounds to me that the CID unlocking might not have been done properly
let's just say that the ROM/bootloader in question isn't the problem ... YOU SHOULDN'T encounter the "invalid vendor ID" message whatsoever ... because that's what CID unlocking does !!!
As far as I know there is no way to CID unlock the HTC S620 yet. However IMEI check have a work around to get the t-mobile WM6 Rom on there. The instructions are on the forum somewhere but I can't seem to see them right now.

not a workaround ... very straight forward and works !!!
I paid & followed their instructions here and it works straight up:

and then followed this particular post ( not others workaround ) ... and now I can upgrade/downgrade WM5 <<--->> WM6 whenever I pleased:

Ok..I used GSM Liberty to unlock the HTCs620. It is definitely SIM unlocked as I can use any SIM I want to. I have seen the IMEI-check work-around & am hesitant to try it because the work-around includes changing part of the ROM code to read IMEI-Check. Not sure how that would work with a GSM Liberty unlocked phone. Does it matter? Anyone know for sure? Anybody else used GSM Liberty to unlock their phone?

So UnicornKaz, you have a Tmobile Dash then? I'm pretty sure the first post in this thread is talking about the HTC S620, although he uses the word "unbranded" which is weird.

I have the HTC S621 (Rogers Canada ) ... which is the same machine as S620/Dash/Dopod C720W ...etc
They are the same beast ... just market brand in different part of the world.
It came originally locked with Rogers carrier ..etc ... then I went to the above link and paid for the CID/SIM unlocking service .. plus I went on to do the AppZ unlocking myself ... Now I can upgrade/downgrade as I wish ... no problems whatsoever.
...except for the bugs of each indivual OS .. LOL
Non-branded meaning the phone having HTC's logo instead of the carrier's branded logo
mine is also non-branded.

All I can think of is that imei-check have updated their software and now it is a real CID unlock. When I first flashed the WM6 imei check sent those hex editing instructions in an email (your first link) and that worked for me. So people should probably ensure they unlock with IMEI checks latest version and try that second link with the instructions if your phone really is super cid. If you still get invalid vendor then give the first link a try.

I've figured it out. The instructions you are suggesting involve downgrading the bootloader from 1.19 to 1.11. Where as the instructions that imei supplied don't require the downgrade but do involve the hex editing.
I just tried UnicornKaz's suggested technique on a Rodgers HTC-S620 and they worked fine, so that way seems easier to me. It seems when you flash to WM6 it updates the bootlooader to a newer one again which doesnt show the red text on black background at startup.
don't forget to use it again when you do the downgrading to WM5
makes for easier/error free ... to run it everytime !
and keep in mind that after each ROM upgrade/downgrade ... your phone needs to be "app unlocked" again
do you even need to pay imei-check? Perhaps it works withthat boot loader without even needing a cid unlock!!

Hello Guys,
I´m a newbie on this particular forum and after a huge research I found a lot of information but nothing related to this.
My phone is an xperia play R800i [unfortunately running only in 2G mode due that the ICE operator in Costa Rica only runs at 850MHz 3G ]
I´m not a Linux savy person and yesterday one of my peers helped me yesterday while we were at work in doing several things.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.ORIGINAL Setup-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
R800i with:
Android Version: 2.3.3
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf
build number: 4.0.A.2.368
BASEBANd: 8x55A-AAABQMAZM-20302204-36
Locked bootloader and phone was SIM unlocked (it was from Swisscom)
No Root on this.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.--
Steps my peer did:
- Unlocked the bootloader. (he did it in a matter of seconds)
- installed the R800I world version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043630
--- The following happened:
- Constant messages that Android Crashed.
- No SIM being recognized / no signal from SIM chips.
----Troubleshoot: I did a phone restore and that fixed the Android issues, although the camera crashed constantly and no storage card was recognized.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
2nd test:
My peer then downloaded a new firmware which is the following:
4.01.A.0.283 (please see captures) and is super stable although I lost root access.. never used the feature and I seriously want to remove games such as Sim, etc...
Battery life is awesome and Xloud, Cam, everything works like a charm!.
Is there a possibility that someone points me out to a video tutorial in order to root this great device R800i and have super user access?.
I love the firmware but if someone is kindly enough to have a video for this version it would be most than useful
google; how to root 2.3.4 xperia
Check my sig
Thank you folks, although I was looking for a video tutorial since I Landed via google in your threads... Just wanted some more graphic guide

OMG!!! Buddy thank you!!!!!!
Thanks!!
Guys, what a great forum!.
I was able to root with "DooMLoRD_v1_ROOT-zergRush-busybox"
I´m so glad about this app, I have removed the the Sims3 and Fifa 10 hehe..
Now, what can I do next? I have 2 questions... (although just I´ll be digging more the internet..) and I even installed the Titanium Backup ;-)
1. How can I remove all the "ads" after I install something?.
2. Is there a way to download using "torre..ts" and install the APK´s for games without having the "warning" message that reports that my app is not authorized by gameloft hehe.. ?
3. Any Themes for xperia play (although I´ll search on this one)
Thank you again pals!!!! most appreciated!,

1. AdFree https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bigtincan.android.adfree&hl=sv
2. No idea. And I don't support piracy so I won't help you there. These things are cheap anyway.
3. Not much. There are a few in the themes forum that can be flashed. If you want different themes I suggest using another launcher.
Hello Folks,
Looking for some guidance... is there a new version of Firmware that I didn´t knew?. My Mobile is offering me the OTA update 4.0.2.A.0.42... however as I´m with root + BL unlocked obviously is not letting me to update.
What should I do?. My phone is showing the 4.0.1.A.0.283 running 2.3.4.
Hi @ all,
1st i have to say thx, that i can reg me on that forum . Now to my actual question, im new in the android world, im very good in iOS stuff but now thats my 1st steps in the android world. I bought a used Motorola MB526 (i hope its a defy), and i think its tmo sim locked, because when i put my sim in i have the message "pin to unlock the sim network" on my display, i dont have any sim-pin or sim-lock on the sim itself.
And cause im new with that, i dont know what steps i have to do now :/ I have some specs from it :
Code:
SystemVersion:
45.0.1251.MB526.T-Mobile.en.DE
Modell:
MB526
Android Version:
2.3.5
Baseband Version:
EPU93_U_00.60.00
Kernel Version:
2.6.32.9-gbdd614e
[email protected] #1
Build Number:
4.5.1-134_DFP-1251
I hope someone can help me out, thx alot in advance
there are serveral ways:
1. you pay a "service" to calculate your unlock code by giving them your imei, country and net-provider
2. you can have a look at the links in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1464645
-root your phone
-install cm7 (which of course i would only do after reading a LOT of stuff here in this forums of course)
-install the software from the external links
-run it
both ways are somewhat risky and you might have a chance to loose some money (1. way) or your phone (2.)
if you have not done it already i would also recommend some searching. there are quite some topics around on this.
cheers
Thanks alot for the reply . I surfed the tmo wepsite, and on it there is a "sim unlock" section where i can enter my imei, i did that and became an unlock code directly on their homepage. And it works
Now i can with my eplus carrier with that defy . Now i have another question, can i update the oS that is installed on the device ? You see my specs above Android Version etc. is that okay or can i go higher ?

Well you could always go higher and higher by rooting

Root rulez!
You do even own a Defy+.
Since I own the same phone i would recommend rooting the phone, install MS2Ginger 2.1 with all the patches you like and even V6 Supercharger, which is really a must-have! My Defy+ got considerably snappier with this script.
But regardless what you do: Do a NANDroid backup first after root!

[SIZE=+1]Q1: How do I ask a question, so I'm not called a noob?[/SIZE]While you may see many questions asked in the Development section, PLEASE be aware this is not the place for questions.
Remember to use the search found at the top of the forum. There is also a search within each section. Example click on Q&A HERE. In the upper right you will now see two search's. Please read as much as you can prior to doing anything with your device.
Make sure your question has not been answered in the OP (Opening Post) of each section of Development
Search Q&A for threads that may have been started for a particular rom
[SIZE=+1]Q2: How do I install a stock update (I'm on a non-rooted phone)?[/SIZE]This link click here will explain the full procedure
[SIZE=+1]Q3: Where do I find Keis and what is it for?[/SIZE]Kies can be found click here. Kies is used to manage the content on Samsung mobile devices. It is used to move information between your PC/Mac to you phone and vice versa
[SIZE=+1]Q4: What does Root/Rooting mean?[/SIZE]Put simply, Rooting your device allows you, and/or rooted apps, to access parts of the Linux based Android software that is your OS, and that you would otherwise not be able to access. These tasks can be as simple and beneficial as backing up your system setting, or as complicated as installing custom ROMs, Kernels, etc.
[SIZE=+1]Q5: What is ADB (Android Debug Bridge) and what is it for?[/SIZE]Please read HERE. There is much to learn, please view everything in the threads OP
[SIZE=+1]Q6: What is the purpose of rooting my Samsung Galaxy Note II?[/SIZE]Please bear in mind, rooting can be dangerous and if done wrong "brick" your phone.
Rooting the phone is a decision made by individuals looking to improve upon the Android OS. There are many benifits, however it is done to customize the phone to it's full potential
[SIZE=+1]Q7: How to I enter Download Mode and Recovery?[/SIZE]1) Make sure your phone is unplugged and powered off.
2) To enter Download Mode: Hold Volume down, home, and power until you see the android.
3) To enter Recovery: Hold Volume up, home, and power for about 5 seconds then release all buttons. You may need to try this a few times.
[SIZE=+1]Q8: What is a "logcat" and how do I create one?[/SIZE]For setting up ADB see What is ADB (above) logcat allows us to log what the OS is doing, and possibly offer information if things are not working. its quite simple to create but may be difficult for most to understand. This is a tool a Developer may ask for in detecting issues your device may be encountering.
To use logcat
Code:
adb shell
logcat
To logcat to a certain file do
Code:
adb shell
logcat -d > /sdcard/whatevertexfileyoulike.txt
For a full explanation follow the link in What is ADB
[SIZE=+1]Q9: Is there an app that will help me create a logcat from my phone?[/SIZE]Yes, however it does have its limitations. If you're stuck in a "bootloop", the app will not work, you will need to use ADB for this. If you're data is not connecting on a certain Rom, (or something similar) within the already booted OS, an app can be rather handy and and more user friendly, for those who don't understand ADB. Apps for logcat can be found in the marketplace
[SIZE=+1]Q10: What does odexed and de-odexed mean and what is the difference between the two?[/SIZE]Please read HERE
[SIZE=+1]Q11: What is CWM Recovery (ClockWorkMod Recovery) and TWRP (TeamWin Recovery Project)?[/SIZE]They are recovery program's that allows you to backup / restore a full or partial system backup of your device. They also allow you to install flashable .zip files; which is one of the primary installation methods for custom ROMs. They also provides other features such as cache and delvik wiping, battery reset, and other processes. If you are thinking about flashing custom ROMs or just want a really good backup program, it's strongly advised that you to install one of these.
[SIZE=+1]Q12: What is the 'Flash Counter'?[/SIZE]Your phone's "Flash Counter" is triggered when it detects custom firmwares. This is Samsung's way of knowing that your device has been modified. Please read HERE to understand what this does and how to fix it.
[SIZE=+1]Q13: What is a ROM?[/SIZE]A rom is like a custom firmware image that is made by a Developer either entirely from scratch, or based off of the official firmware package. Some ROMs contain simple changes like changing icons and adding extra options to things, other more complicated ROMs can change the entire Android experience. Which one you will want to flash, will be entirely up to you. Read carefully, and make sure you understand what you are getting into before you flash.
[SIZE=+1]Q14: What is a Kernel?[/SIZE]A kernel is the heart of the device's OS. In simplest terms it’s a connection between your apps and your device’s hardware; i.e. the processor, RAM, etc. A custom kernel can dramatically change the way your device’s hardware performs… for the better and/or the worse]
[SIZE=+1]Q15: What is a Bootloader?[/SIZE]The bootloader is a program code that is executed before the device OS starts up, and that instructs that device to boot “normally”. The bootloader can come locked or unlocked from the manufacture. A unlocked bootloader will allow you to install custom ROMs & Kernels (as well as some other neat things) on your device.
[SIZE=+1]Q16: What is the best rom for my phone?[/SIZE]While you can ask this as many times as you wish, the only answer is: the one that works best for you! A rule of thumb is to visit a several rom thread's and view what is happening within these rom's. Eventually viewing a few roms will cause the urge to try one that looks good to you.
[SIZE=+1]Q17: What is the MD5, and what does it do?[/SIZE]It ensures that file's are downloaded correct and complete, in order to avoid issues when installing/using it.

Edit: Also the whole i317/i317m thing

Hey Tony, I've been searching for information on Apps2SD for this phone and while I will find it (the information) on my own, I think a mini compendium of sorts would make sense in the FAQ section. Unless of course this is a "Google removed the function, end of story," situation.

To an extent I agree, however that would be better suited in a Q&A then a FAQ.
May I suggest adding "what is a modem"
And then laying out the whole dif(or lack there of) between basband/modem/radio. Also in the kies faq I would like to suggest mentioning the kies EFR. Its a very effective and usefull tool.

When you carrier unlock a device it remains unlocked no matter how many roms or recoveries you flash. My note 2 is unlocked and works just fine.
The bootloader is not locked. Flash a recovery using Odin. Twrp is great.

Hello,
maybe one of you can help out with an actual tutorial/step by step and avialable and actual download links ?
i have here an Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 of an Friend and he want to use it with his german SIM Card. The device itsels is from and locked with
DRE Three (3 Hutchison) SIM network lock from Austria.
Android 4.1.2 ( Flashed back to it from Lineageos 14.1 )
TWRP (also back to stock for 4.1.2)
And this guys from Three want 50€ for an Unlock for a Smartphone that is so old and no longer in a contract. Thats rediculous.
So when i understand it corretly if the old method doesnt work because there is no entry
Service MENU: *#197328640# or with other like Lineageos *#*#197328640#*#*
MENU NOT EXIST
Current Command is 186
A simple way is to flash a new Modem ?!
Or change/flash a nv_data.bin ?!
The Problem with your website here is that the informatiosn are spread around everywhere and when you have found a good thread than the Downloads got removed like here:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/leaked-firmware-i9300xxugmk6-android-4-t1835931
Why isnt the OLDER version of the Unlocker available ?
Why got the firmware Downloads removed and not replaced ???
Why no Info ? Links ? Why everything so complicated ?
Also for other models not only this old one.

I don't have this variant myself and it looks like your inquiring about "SIM Unlocking" the device.
The following thread should still be good for what you're looking to do that's specific to your device and variants. Don't be afraid to ask for some member guidance within it too.

If necessary (and you don't receive any responses from the above thread) you can always try to obtain some member guidance within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device and variants as well.

EDIT: I had just noticed the following thread and wanted to bring it to your attention as well since it also seems (not completely sure) to be regarding your topic as well.
