When I enable Keypad sounds, I dont get DTMF tones when dialing a number. I only get the little water droplet sound. Has anybody else noticed this?

I have the sounds turned off and DTMF doesn't work on my S3 for me either. Tested with multiple services.
I have a GT-I9300, stock ROM, running Android 4.0.4.

It's like that for everyone- the droplet sounds are a dialing "feature" .
Though you may not hear it like a tone, it is still registering on the other end as a tone.
The option to uncheck the sound just prevents you from hearing it.
The only way to change/remove the droplet sound is to root and replace the file. There's more info in the forums here about this.

Thanks, got it, now I'm not sure I like it so silent, I don't care for the sounds of a old typewriter keyboard either.
Now how can I change the keyboard sound file
Sound should be in the same area. I keep mine silent, but with haptic feedback

The sound is in the same area, I like the sound that my wife's ipod makes, but the sound on our keyboard is like an old typewriter, I need to figure out how to change that file or just use the silent mode that is kind of nice also.

There are a few keypress sounds there that you can change to the sound you want.

Problem: Instead of playing the selected ringtone when I get phone calls I hear the bonk sound hear when I adjust my volume? This remains even after reboot.
Solution: It was an application called CallBlocker. I had enabled a setting called Pre-Mute Ring which was causing the issue.
Call controll does work very well, however this feature does have a caveat indicating it might not work correctly on all phones. I think the purpose is to mute the ring until it can identify if the call is on the blacklist or not. After that, I think it's supposed to unmute so you can hear the ring.
I finally figured it out after numerous reboots and a kernel upgrade. The problem remained so I figured it had to be some piece of software that messed with the call settings.

Have this annoying problem that when I when I make a voice call the person on the other side hears my voice but I can't hear theirs. When this happens I also can't hear the dial tone before the one way conversation starts. 1 out of 4/5 calls this happens
Does anyone experience the same problem?

hi i have been having this problem on various 4.2 and 4.3 aosp roms. after a lot of trial and error i found that the in call sound worked if some sound was played before dialing or receiving for the first time. it could be touch pad sound or unlock sound or dial pad sound. as i dont enable any of these i used tasker to play a short sound immediately after every boot and the in call sound has become consistent after using this method
hope this helps
Hey guys, I just purchased my S3 on Friday (decided that I didn't need the S4 and the S3 was only $50) and I've already come across a few things that are annoying, even though I already love the phone.
My main issue at the present, though, is that I'm used to (and prefer) hearing the DTMF tones when I'm dialing a number in the phone app, but I can't find any way to enable that with this phone. Is there a way to change the keypad tone without rooting the device, or is it going to require root to do so?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Go like ur making a phone call when u see the dialer then press the menu u will see ringtone and keypad tones go in there and click to turn it on

To clarify, you can have a bubbly kind of noise when you hit the dialpad, but not DTMF tones. That setting is :
dialer>menu>Call Settings>Ringtones and keypad tones>Keytones
Kind of bugged me at first too, but I got over it
I would guess there must be some third party dialer that gives you DTMF back, but I got used to it pretty quick, especially since i hardly ever make a call from the dial pad any more.

I even got the problem that my S4 does not send the dtmf signal. I cannot call a hotline or service number or anything. Most of the hotlines ask for a number to go on...e.g. 1 for English, 2 for German etc.
That's not possible with the S4 due to the bubble sound. I assume you got the same problem with your S3, didn't you?

My s3 has dtmf tones, it's under phone>menu>call settings>then scroll down, 3rd option from the bottom. I still have the bubbly sound when dialing but the dtmf tones are still there.

Correct!! The bubbly sound is when you first dial. Once connected the dial pad works just fine and the dtmf tones are all there. Any service line that you call that requires dtmf tone work perfectly.

Might turn out that it is just me =)
In the menu, there is not such an entry. There is just Call settings>Ringtones and keypad tones>Keypad tones is checked. It says "Play tones when keypad is pressed. There is no other entry indicating something related to dtmf.
I cannot imagine that it does not work, since it is a very essential function. Am I wrong?

Don't go into ringtones & keypads, just scroll down
Tsss...what a f...
I just called a hotline, there was no dtmf signal to navigate through the menu. Afterwards, I turned the background noise reduction of and tried it again. It was working properly and I could navigate through the menu. I turned the background noise reduction on again and it is still working, so there was just a conflict between the signal and the noise reduction....
Damn system LOL I am working on that since Saturday...
Problem solved!
Does anyone know which files are used for the increasing ringer? Because sometimes when my phone is in my pocket I don't get to it until the third ring and sometimes miss a call. I've used the app called disable increasing ring I think it's called but it makes the beginning of my ring tones skip. I know on my evo 3d there was an option to turn it on or off but not on the Optimus G. If anyone can chime in I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

That's not it. I'm referring to when your phone rings and the volume starts low then increases to high no matter if your in a loud area or not. I have checked the wise ring tone and it still has the increasing ringer.

If you disable Wise Ringtone, it gives the same volume all the time, and i thought that's what you wanted. My bad

It's alright, yea when i disable the wise Ringtone it doesn't change anything. When my phone rings it always starts at a low volume then increases. And that app on the playstore makes the beginning of the Ringtone skip, that's why I was wondering which files made that do that so I could just try and modify them myself. Thanks though
