I'm having the same issue with copy and pasting. sometimes apps like Chrome, crash when I attempt, others just don't work at all. The only thing that I changed recently was flashing the FreeGS3 Rom, but that was over a week ago and I thought I would have noticed copy/paste not working before now. Anyone know of a way to fix?
I'm on stock, rooted ROM. Copy / paste quit working for me yesterday. After restarting my phone it works fine again. My guess is that some service has bombed out that is used for this feature. Seems to be kind of finicky - - this has happened several times now. But it always works again for me after a reboot.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Hmmm. Reboot hasn't helped me. Since I've noticed it not working it hasn't worked no matter what I try. Someone told me to wipe the cache of the apps that aren't working correctly, but it's not working with anything. I tried doing that for chrome just to see but no luck. Not sure if re-flashing with wiping would help.

Fix for ROOTED users...
"1. boot recovery (CWM) > advanced > wipe cache
2. reboot phone > Root Explorer > delete /data/clipbord/*
3. reboot recovery again > advanved > fix permissions
4. reboot phone > it's fine"
Found this on Phandroid. But haven't found a fix for non-root. There is also another thread on here somewhere about this issue(merge possibly?.
Here is also a link to the discussion on Phandroid.

Let me start off by stating I am far from a newb. I have been rooting and flashing android ROMs since the G1. This is the first time I have run across this. My wife's DInc wont let her install any apps. Install unsuccessful each tome and started on stock ROM. I just rooted wiped and flashed cm7. Still same deal. I have never encountered this. Thinking corrupt internal memory. Anyone else have an idea? Tried wiping market cache data etc... tried signing into Google talk... funny thing is out of warranty by one day now. Awesome timing.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
how new is the inc? have you checked that the PRL settings are correct? what message do you get when you try to install apps? it wouldn't hurt to do a *228 just to ensure all settings are written correctly.
I had the same problem but it turned out that the apps couldnt interact with my sd card. does it display a pop up error message when you try to install an app?
Last 2 DIncs I rooted, the SD that came with it was Not FAT32. Those had the same issue you describe, I reformatted SD, worked fine.

I'm having the same issue.. I thought it was from me messing around with the provider #'s like 310004 310012 etc.. im on verizon... cant install anything... get a popup of can install on usb or usb storage.... pic attached. ( http://db.tt/0aLvpMJ )
Well... it let me update these... http://db.tt/wCkP1we
But not these.... http://db.tt/NtTKVRc
I'm stumped... all permissions are set correctly. I've erased data and cache multiple times from the market... I've *228'd... and rebooted MANY TIMES!

Thats the exact same problem i had.
Use root explorer and navigate to /sdcard/.android_secure and delete the file "smdl2tmp1.asec" if it is not in that location then it could be in /mnt/secure/asec/
After i deleted the file it worked just fine with no errors.
Does it install if you unmount the SDcard with the system settings first?
I tried doing that but it didn't work for me. But it doesn't hurt to try.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Ahh, I had an issue with it a while back that was fixed by unmounting the sdcard before installing them. I'd read about it in this article before, maybe it will help someone here: http://lifehacker.com/5714300/how-to-fix-installation-unsuccessful-errors-in-the-android-market
Seems like it mostly covers problems with updates, though.
Has anyone else had an issue with this. I have tried for 3 days to fix it. Please help!

Please post what steps you have taken to fix your issue. It will help others troubleshoot. First thing I recommend is opening mms in Titanium Backup and wiping the data, then reboot and test. If you would be more descriptive with your questions you have a better chance of getting help.
Here is a nice video.

No, please post it but ONLY if you have it on hand easily. We can search for it. That thread is so popular its long and hard to follow unless you can dedicate some time to it every day.
Thanks for the heads up on it.

Handcent won't work unless the stock messenger app does so lets just deal with stock for now. Like I said earlier, try uninstalling it then reinstalling it.
Switch R/W to R/O, try moving Mms.apk from /system/app to your SD card with Root Explorer. Back out of the Root Explorer and Hot Restart your phone. When your phone boots up the messenger app will be gone.
Move the Mms.apk from your SD card back to /system/app, switch R/W to R/O to first. Long press on the Mms.apk check off all of the permissions but leave "Special Permission" alone. Switch R/O to R/W and back out of the app and Hot restart your phone. The stock messenger app will be back. Try sending or receiving an mms.

Sorry I haven't had much time. Been wrkin like crazy. I haven't had a chance to try to fix it. I deleted handcent and that stopped the duplicate txt problem as it was a glitch in the app that has yet to be fixed. My txt and mms only come through when I pwr cycle my phone. This is what's annoying. Will try to solve the issue in the AM. Thanks for all input...

I am having the same issue. I haven't been able to resolve at this time. I tried wiping data, then removing the app with Titanium. I then reflashed the synergy rom and still no luck. I looked at connection under messaging and all fields were blank so I tried manually putting in the info. User= Production, mms protocol =WAP 2.0 and mmsc= htttp://mms.sprintpcs.com. I have went to system and updated my profile. I backed up apn, checked for errors and then restored. At this point I'm stuck. I am going to try another of the methods below. Will keep watching this thread and post if something works.
So I rolled back to rooted stock and tested mms. Works fine. extracted mms from root and saved to sd/ rebooted to saved synergy back up. mms gone again. wiped data/uninstalled mms. installed extracted from stock mms. still no go! Next step wipe phone/reflash synergy/I cannot remember if mms was working with synergy at first or not. Used titanium to restore data and that may be where issue occured. If anyone has success, please post
I'm in the same boat, ladies and gents. APN settings are correct, done the Profile update, reinstalled the ROM numerous times. Stock Rooted ROM relays MMS fine, boot into recovery, wipe Davlik Cache, install Synergy, update Radios, reboot into ROM, and all is well BUT the MMS. Profile update, no luck, APN backup / restore, no luck. Cleared cache and Data from Messages app. Running out of ideas here, and I don't want to revert to my old nandroid of the rooted stock ROM.
Welcome to my world. Got a friend at work who just installed synergy God-mode the other day and his mms is working fine. checked his settings and the only difference I could find was in settings:connection- the name said Sprint instead of Production. Changed mine to that and still a no go. My sister was trying to send me a picture of the oceanfront in Florida and ended up having to email it to me. I love this rom, but this could be a deal breaker. Moved all backups to pc and am about to flash a "virgin" (as apposed to resoring the backup) synergy to my phone and test mms before restoring any data with Titanic. If it works I will only restore totally 'unrelated' apps one at a time and not all system data. Here we go again. Will post results.
Here's the latest....wiped data, wiped cache, wiped Devlik..reinstalled entirely new copy of synergy rom and mms working! Sent pix to husbands phone..he got it..sent another back to me... I got it. No extra apps installed or restored just yet. Very carefully restoring apps but no system data. Will post if still working.
Broke down, reloaded the ROM after doing a factory reset and cache wipe, restored a handful of Apps, and it works. Ti Backup, thanks for the help!
And more Thanks due to Sherry.
Brand new Gnex like everybody else.
Every time I try to download something from the browser I'm getting a download unsuccessful error, but if everywhere else downloads work.
For example if i'm in the xda forum app and somebody post a download that shows up in the app it goes straight through but if I have to click on a link and try to download it, it doesn't work.
Also if I pull up a picture in the browser and long press and save picture it doesn't work but i can set it as a wallpaper no problem.

This picture right here didn't work for me.
I'm still completely stock right now. haven't rooted or changed bootloader and running stock browser
I was playing around with my buddies nexus and found the same problem. A work around I found was to go into the Download app in the drawer, find your download, long press it until it gives you a retry option. Might take at least two tries but the file finally downloaded

Yeah that's what I've been doing while at work in front of my computer, but that's not really a workaround since you can only do it when you are in front of a pc.

***SOLVED***
In settings, go to "Apps", select the "All" tab, go down and find "Download Manager", press the "Force Stop" button, then press the "Clear Data" button. Reboot and you can download again.

This didn't fix it for me and also you don't want that because that will make Astro the download manager. You want the stock one to work either way. Try my fix above first.
Also try
1. Clear cache for "Browser" in the Apps menu.
2. Clear cache and dalvik-cache in CWM and reboot.
3. If you have Astro already installed, try uninstalling it.
All else fails, repeating these 3 steps plus the fix I posted above in this order.
This worked thank you

This was happening to me and I tried everything I could think of to fix it including wiping data on market, uninstalling updates, factory reset phone, and wiping cache in download manager. I finally figured out that it would only fail when on wifi. Turning it off would let me download. I finally gave up trying to fix it. Funny thing is it works now though. I recommend just giving it a day. It may fix itself. It did for me.

I've countless threads and people recommended this or Opera mini. I don't consider any of these a solution. It's just a "workaround" since the original issue is not resolved. What I found was the solution. Highly recommend it. Especially considering how nice the stock browser on this phone is.
Some days ago I flashed a ICS Rom, all went good but the only thing that i noticed was that my phone name had changed to lt18i in the market. Today I decided to go back to my previous GB Rom so I restored it from my nandroid backup. Now my phone is still identified as a lt18i and cannot download anything from the market. I tried to wipe the app data of the play store app but didn't do anything. Also the remote download from the pc doesn't work at all.
What other things I could try? I really want to avoid a factory reset if possible.
EDIT: Found a solution, i moved/deleted the /data/system/accounts.db, wiped the app data from the Play Store and restarted the phone, added my google account again and the market updated my device name and the downloads are working again.

I just tried this solution for my HTC Incredible 2 and it worked flawlessly. I'm currently running ICS 4.0.4 from Aeroevan's CM9 build. I tried clearing the data from the market and download manager as well as trying the "killall drmserver" fix, which has worked before. This here did the trick. I wonder if removing and readding the accounts from "Accounts & Sync" would've worked as well? I'll try that next time if it happens again.
Thank you.

Just got the purchasing error from market and tried removing my account from Accounts & Sync. Phone gave me this warning:
This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data.). You do that in the Settings application, under Privacy.
This worked for me too after changing around my apns. My market started giving off that error. Then I did your fix and now market/playstore is perfect again! Thanks! By the way you have to do the whole fix! You cant just delete your account in accounts and sync settings cause that doesn't work I tried.
Awesome!! I was starting to get pi$$ed... This was saver!

Now, on my phone I tried to find /data/system/accounts.db in astro & other file explorer but couldn't find it. Not in root or SD. I see a data folder in root, but there is no folder in it.
I also don't see the option to remove acct data in play store options. I'm getting relatively better this stuff but I can't find the options detailed.
A bit of elaboration please?

I just ran into this problem, hoping it will work on my tablet. When you say you moved the /data/system/accounts.db, what do you mean. Where did you move it to? Or do you mean you removed/deleted that file. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I figured it out. Deleting the file did the trick. Thanks again
I actually resolved this issue simply by wiping cache and dalvik from recovery, and rebooting.
Btw yes I'm rooted but nothing there. I'll check again later though. Thanks.
Thanks. I have been searching for a fix. This worked for me!
Unfortunately this process didn't work for me. The various market fixing apps on the market don't work either (it's hard enough just trying to find their .apks since I can't download them over the market) and my CleanRom lost its keyboard and launch buttons thanks to trying this method. Looks like I'll have to wipe the device tonight. *sigh*
Edit: Dalvik and cache wiping fixed it for me.
This problem arose for me last night.
Fixed it by reinstalling 3.1.5 Market update.
Cache wipes did not help in any capacity.
Downloaded Market update file from www.arctablet.com/assets/apps/Android_Market_v3.1.5.apk
Probably a million places to find it but hope the link helps someone out.
I fixed this issue by making sure I was logged into Talk. The app wouldn't open so I uninstalled the update and then it ran fine, and the problem went away.
OP
your fix worked like a charm for me. CM9 on Motorola Photon. thanks!

You are my god! Worked
Many others besides myself seem to have an issue where adfree/adaway don't seem to work.
I tried manually replacing my hosts file in /etc with esfile (root explorer enabled and system mounted R/W). However after rebooting, my hosts file seems to have changed back to the default one.
The steps I took:
- Pasted edited hosts file into /system/etc/. (I'm rooted so no errors so far)
- Changed permissions to rw-r-r
- Reboot
And after the reboot the my larger hosts file seems to have been replaced with some default one.
I'm currently using MyRom, but I've tired checking any setting that would interfere with this. I've also tried a fresh install of MyRom and this still happens. I think other people may have similar problems with adfree/adaway because of a similar issue. I'm thinking about reverting to stock and trying it again?

I'll email the dev and see how the app is handling the host file. There is a known issue with some apps overwriting itself on reboot with (what i call) last known data.
Thanks for bringing this up.
* WHAT SPECIFIC APP ARE YOU USING (IE. ADAWAY)
I used adaway on official stock. Never had this issue with hosts reverting on reboot . It was however a pain to install, it fails and freezes multiple times before it works when ever I tried to update or revert the file.

I use Adfree (for several years) by BigTinCan.com, it is easy to use and set up. I have never experienced a problem with it. Reboots work fine.

Seems strange that your host file would be changing if you never added a host adjusting app. Unless the ROM you are using includes it by default...
When I first started using AdAway on my GN3 it had problems.... It would start to update, stall, etc.... After a while however after an update or two, it worked itself out. Now I rarely think about it and manually updating it is very easy.
