Coming from an HTC Vision running CM. Here are my complaints. Maybe there are easy fixes for them. Dunno... (my phone is rooted)
1. Battery drains faster than car can charge it. With screen on, GPS on, and data on and using navigation, the battery goes down. This hasn't happened with any of my other phones.
2. There is no simple way to go to speech recognition/input from the keyboard. On the keyboard on my last phone, there was a microphone button on the keyboard I could press to bring up speech recognition.
3. There is no widget you can put on the homepage that immediately opens up voice search. Last phone, I hit one button on the home screen and I said "set alarm for twenty minutes" or "text lisa smith I'm running late" or "Dial dominos pizza" and it just did it.
4. I can't seem to control what kind of data connection I am using. I use to be able to specify to use 2G if I wanted on the last phone.

1. Umm install a custom kernel/rom, my battery life is amazing with AOKP and KT747
2.I am pretty sure there is, but i dont use it
3.yes there is a google voice search widget
4.yes you can go to your more setting under bluetooth, then mobile networks. The option is there
What custom kernal do you recommend? And all the roms seem to cost me functionaloty.

KT747 its located in the original android development section, here is the thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756776
I am still running ICS though since its still to early on in JB's life cycle for GS3 development.
I wish I had #2 as well.
The latest jellybean aokp has been working flawless for me. The previous one had a couple issues but they seem to be solved. Battery life is good.
If you're using the stock keyboard, go to settings>language and input and click the cog to the right on the Samsung keyboard. Make sure voice input is checked and you'll have a mic button on the keyboard to the left of the space bar.

I saw that but it didn't seem to work. However, you need to long-press that settings button to get the microphone.
I've found the speech recognition intermittently is either brilliant or stupid/non-functional.
For the mic on keyboard use either the ICS or JB keyboard, if your current ROM doesn't have it, get it from the market.

Flash custom ROM!
Flash custom ROM and all your problems will be gone.
Instead - you will have flasher hemorrhage and seeking solutions for ROM bugs.
As far charging keeping up.... I took a short USB extension. Opened up the cable. There were 4 wires inside.... red, black, green and white. Cut the green and white wires. Strip the white and green wires coming from the phone side of the USB and short them together. Use electrical tape to tape them up.
The phone charges from the cigarette lighter at 4000-5000 milliamps. The phone charges from the electrical outlet at 9000 milliamps - 1 amp. When plugged in to in to a lighter the green and white are the data cables and are open. When plugged into a wall charger, the wires are sorted which enables fast charging. There is an app/widget called current widget I believe that shows you what you are charging at.

1. Have any of your other phones had a battery with the capacity of this phone? My suggestion would be to get a 1a car charger....I'd guess your current charger puts out 500ma-750ma or about as much as charging via pc usb port. Yep, it'll take forever. But when you use a 1a charger it'll charge much faster. I have the same problem with my usb car charger....at least until my Satechi 2.1a charger arrives on Wednesday

It won't charge any faster than using a 1a charger even though it can put out 2.1a due to the IC in the phone that regulates the charging, but having the headroom is nice for use with other devices that can use it.
2. I don't use the stock ICS keyboard, I prefer GoKeyboard myself, and on it I can choose to have the speech recognition key displayed if I want.
3. A simple double tap of the home button will launch S-Voice...no need to take up valuable homescreen space with a widget
4. That one there is not a fix for yet

You're not alone. There's a few people begin to report they have the SAV-Ghost issue (self-adjusting volume) in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352545
You are not alone. A handful of people commented on that at in the 24hr thread. I named it the SAV -ghost. (Self adjusting volume ghost)

Surely it should be either self-adjusting-volume or volume-adjusting-ghost? It can't be SAV-ghost because if it's a ghost adjusting the volume then it's not self adjusting!
Lol you have a point there. Lol. Damn there goes my contribution to android -naming the first galaxy Nexus bug.. ah well I still call it sav-ghost

Questions regarding this issue:
Does it only decrease volume?
Can you reproduce it?
how often does it occur?
Any apps you have installed that might interfere with volume in any way?
maybe this was the reason for all the delays, sounds like a software problem especially if they released the phone, can't be hardware if they knew of this issue
Well too early to say I would need some info to narrow it down.. I don't think it is sw at the moment. I twittered some other experienced users and they're have not seen such on their device. So could be user app related (market apps) or hw batch issue.
As far as I can remember this was occurring when the phone was vanilla. Only ever adjustable down. Have fought it several times with up volume but it is like the down volume key is locked on. However, down volume key appears fine so I don't think this is mechanical.

I thought the release date officially was the 17th
They released them didn't they, they just didn't appear out of the sky,
This must be the reason why all the delays on this Recall if it's a hardware for sure software can be fixed,
I know they said they ported ICS over to the SGS2 phone I'm wondering if that has the same problems if not then it's hardware for sure
thought it was just my imagination at first....i hope it is software, i have already unlocked the bootloader so byebye warranty
happening to this many people, it seems software, not hardware related
tried experimenting, making sure that there was no way there was any pressure on the volume key
one thing which seems to confirm that it is software - hold volume down, dont let go, and then hold volume up at the same time. the volume goes up instead of having a battle....anyone concur?
that and, in bootloader mode it doesn't seem to be cycling through the options when left alone for a while

Thats actually normal. This is how it is supposed to behave, no battle anticipated. Same behaviour on my 3 phones.
Again, my questions:
- Which volume is affected? Media volume, ringtone volume or all volume (master). When this happened, what did the display say which volume is being adjusted?
- Up and down, or down only (ie decrease only? or up down as it wants)
- If you have seen it adjust volume and it says "Media Volume", did it also happen during a call (which would then say call volume or similar). It is really important as both volumes are actually independant from each other. Meaning if more than one type of volume is affected, it may point more towards hardware than software. I can hardly believe that ICS or any app for this matter would trigger this behaviour in different threads/apps.
- Can you reproduce it? If so, please help us with logs to see whether HW or SW (see below)
- Can you interrupt this behaviour by either holding VOL up or VOL down? If you can interrupt it, does it keep doing it or would your interference stop the SAVing for a while?
- State of phone. Was the phone in use or did that happen with display off (if you come back after a while and the Volume is lower?
- If it did, go to the settings and volume - are all volume bars now lower or only one?
So, as far as I heard, it even happened with vanilla handset without apps right?
can you guys execute DDMS (comes with the Android SDK) and check the logs?
i.e. when it happens, you will be able to see the debugger code lines. The code as to WHEN and when it happens would be very important to see whats causing this behavior. Little pic attached for those that want to try

Once you reproduced the issue, copy the relevant lines (you can verbose the log) here?!
The volume ghost happened this morning again when my alarm went off. I was already awake and I heard my alarm go off with just one beep and then silent. When I picked it up I saw the volume was down again and then had a battle with it pressing volume up but the phone was insistent on going down. So it must be all volumes getting turned down and not just ringer volume cause even if phone is on silent, the alarm should still go off as normal. At least it did on my N1.
Moral of the story, don't trust the alarm to wake you up cause it may just turn itself down leaving you sleeping in.
I am hoping its sw related cause I love this phone and don't want to return it!

@seakins please have a look at my questions. Also check when it does that are all volume settings down or just the one (alarm in that case)
I'm having the same problem. It usually happens when i unlock the phone, but has happened at other points, too.
I really hope this isn't hardware-related.

In my case, it's just notifications and ringer. Media and alarm volume are unaffected.
First off, if this has already been done then sorry im obviously blind, if not then i think its a good place to post any jellybean related problems and fixes that people have discovered.
so here goes, i updated from the ota on thursday the 12th of july i had a totally stock yakju device with the build number imm761 (JRO03c after update)
problems i have found so far are
1.after every reboot the, screen stay awake during charging option is ticked in developer settings
2.the google now command of navigate me home will take you to a random address near your home even after setting home address in navigation app and in latitude (as far as i can tell this is only happening outside the us)
3.lock screen will only ever say 99% charged even when in battery settings it reports fully charged
i have not found a fix for any of these issues nor do i know if they are just problems on my device (barring the google now navigate me home command)
so if anyone could report if they have the same issues or have found fixes please post here.
thanks
Now has stopped listening for the keyword "Google". After a couple days with out reboot it seems that Now no longer responds when I say Google. I have to hit the mic button. A reboot would fix it... but a weird bug to say the least.

I have a big problem since I did update to Jellybean
My phone charge itself, without it connected to AC power or PC.
And when I want to charge the power source does not load.
Last night I put in charge and not loaded than when we closed and I pressed power button + down button.
and camera, how do I set resolution? I make pictures. PNG 720x1280 on ICS I could change the resolution,
Jealybean sucks

I've seen this happen before on a brand new HTC X One, happened after about 4 days of being used. We let the phone fully run down and then just changed it, didn't come back again.
I have been wishing for a remote to control my phone while it is tucked away in my console and connected to my stereo. I know there are head units that have this built in but my system is factory and I am not looking to replace it. So in searching I ran across this product and ordered it today. It is mainly for Apple but reports say it works on many android devices, though I didn't find the GS2 meantioned specifically. Once I get it in and test it out I will report back my findings in case anyone else is interested.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00824948U/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01
Interested!
Ok it finally showed up today. It took a lot longer than I expected to get here but it was well worth the wait. All I can say is wow. This thing is fantastic. Works better than I exprected.
The remote is small and light. Would prefer a more solid feel to it but it is great for what it is. It has a dedicated on and off button. It paired to my phone in about 10 seconds, didn't even pull the instructions out . I put my phone inside my desk drawer to test. It is a solid wooden contruction. Pushing play starts your default music player automatically. I could play, pause, previous track, next track, volume up, volume down and mute. The camera button also works. You can open the camera app and take pictures with the remote. While you aren't listening to music the volume buttons control the ringer volume. And if you press and hold the play button it will launch svoice (if installed). So while my phone is in the car I can open pandora, play music or whatever without touching the phone. It has a keyboard button which doesn't seem to do anything, on this phone at least. It also has a home button which if long pressed opens the task manager. While the phone was in my desk I walked to the kitchen and was still able to use the remote. This is about 15 feet from my desk. After that I walked to the front of the office, which is on the other side of the kitchen at about 25 feet and it still worked.
The only downsides I could find are that it connects as a bluetooth keyboard which causes a slight problem. When it connects it sets the samsung keyboard as default and then the samsung keyboard keeps crashing until you go into settings and make swype or whatever else the default keyboard. After that it works perfectly. This may impact other keyboard apps also. Not sure as I only use swype. To me this is a minor issue as the purpose is to not be using the phone while the remote is connected. Plus there may be a work around like uninstalling the samsung keyboard. The only other issue, also minor, is that the battery cover is extremely hard to get off. Good thing the batteries are supposed to last for months. This, of course, remains to be seen since I just got it.
Even with the minor problems I still give this remote a solid 5 stars as it does exactly what I wanted it to do and exceeded my expectations. Also I am testing this on Team Rejectz FF18 Universe 1.4. I will perform a EL29 test and stock FF18 test at a later point and see if it works the same.

If you find something else let me know please.
OK I tested out EL29 and FF18 stock and here are my findings.
EL29 - Did not work. The only buttons that would work are the volume buttons. None of the other buttons worked. I was using Calks stock deodexed rom. Did not care to test any other roms.
Stock FF18 - Worked even better. It did not have the keyboard crashing that I experienced on Universe 1.4. It still made the Samsung keyboard default but it worked with no errors or force closing. Which makes it much nicer to use. The camera button only controls zoom because the volume rocker does zoom by defualt. Replace the camera app with a modded one that takes pictures with the volume rocker and problem solved. You don't have the ability to control apps by voice since svoice isn't installed. May be able to work around this but haven't tried anything else. Also the keyboard does not switch back to your default after disconnecting the remote. It stays on the Samsung Keyboard and you have to manually switch it.
Fixes: Ok I pulled the camera app from Universe and put it on the stock Deodexed rom to fix the camera issue. I installed SVoice from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668824&highlight=svoice and now I can access that from the remote by long pressing play/pause. Now if I can figure out how to get the S3 Samsung Keyboard on the S2 I will be set.
Note: You can't pair multiple devices at the same time. It is one at a time. If you change the pairing to device 2 you have to delete it on device1 and repair it again if you want to use it again on device1.

I have one of those keyboards. It works pretty well and $10 is a good price (I think mine was $28 at Best Buy). I haven't tried using it as a remote however, so I can't comment on that functionality.
Well I finally got it today and it worked as a keyboard for about 5 minutes till I got curious and pressed the ime button now it just does shortcuts no keyboard, but as a remote this thing is perfect especially for 10$, it has the very occasional lag when changing modes it will alive freeze up, but it's only happened once so far and I haven't been able to repeat it. The software included is useless though.

I've had the G4 since it was launched and until now been very pleased. A couple of days ago it started to turn the screen on by itself every time it timed out or I pressed the lock button... Unless it's plugged into a charger.
I've tried pulling the battery and uninstalling any recent apps I'd installed but to no avail.
Annoyingly, by the time I got myself to carphone warehouse to get it sorted I was just outside my 28 days.
Seen a lot of people having issues with the screen but can't find anyone having this exact problem. Anybody experiencing similar? Any thoughts? Cheers.

Guess there's not a lot of people suffering the same issue... Noticed something odd today with the battery. Never seen it drain this fast before, is there any way the screen issue could be related to the battery? It would kinda corroborate that the phone acts totally normal when it's charging... Trying to find someone else with this phone to try swapping batteries is... Difficult.

Do you have a screen protector on? If you do, is it possibly covering the light/prox sensor?
Nope, no protector, and I often manually cover the proximity sensor to demonstrate more easily what the phone's doing. Screen times out straight away and them comes back on just as quickly.
Same issue here
Sorry to drag up a thread but ive been having this issue from day 1 and its driving me MAAAAD! Press the lock screen button, the second the screen turns off it comes back on and its on the lock screen (like it would if i used the power button to unlock it)
I turned on "show touch screen touches " in developer options to see if the screen protector was touching anything but its not As far as i can tell it looks like the lock screen sensor might be dicky/weak from the factory? Major sads considering its the button I use on a hourly basis!
Any help or ideas greatly appreciated, i dont really fancy taking it back after 4 weeks to have it sent of for months to be looked at/repaired
H815P suffering the same but mine is randomly. I hardly ever notice but sometimes I just look at the phone and the screen is on.
Also same issue it s wake up randomly, screen is on suddenly and turn off, any solution?

That is the problem.
if yo use the auto hibernate in greenify, it wakes up the phone, turns on the screen than after hibernation turns off the screen. That is why I use only the manual hibernation. On unrooted phone it cause more battery drain than running the pr in the background

yes, on rotted phone the grennify is working as system app in the background and makes the hibernation without waking up the phone and screen + on rooted phone you can hybernate system apps too.

Hi there! thank you for the post thread! I recently got changed of my LG G4 motherboard by LG as I had another problem, and since I got back my phone it keeps turning the screen on-off randomly. I tried to change the auto-screen-off setting you described (hibernation) but the screen keeps turn on and off itself every 15secs! I even changed the phone settings to no background processing at all but same thing on and off again.. I did several factory resets, even tried not to install any app or even update the basics ones and keeps doing it randomly. I dont know what to do here please any help would be appreciated :S:crying:

turn daydream clock display settings
Hey its the sensors next the the front camera that is causing this i had this look reply typed and it just disappeared but long story short i noticed it didnt down it when the phone was facedown so i tried covering the sensors next to the front camera and it didnt do it at this point it could just be a program error or hardware problem idk how it turn off the sensors and it may look tacky but use something to cover the sensors and you should be fine im not 100% sure this is the problem im still testing but so far it works
Try disabling knock to wake feature. I recently noticed that I could tap anywhere and then again somewhere else, minutes later, and the screen would turn on. It was so sensitive that sometimes it would wake by just blowing on the screen.
To get to this setting, I created an activity widget using Nova launcher. (It's under the Settings -> Knock settings).
You can also use Better Battery Stats or Amplify to see what's keeping your screen on
fixed mine
Here you go...
Settings > Display > Motion Sensor Calibration
Is this working for people? It simply doesn't activate for me even after setting it up.
I used it earlier without taking phone out of my pocket and had no issues.
Yes and its working great for me. Make sure all the Google now sliders are on in Google now settings.
It works for me as long as I talk a certain way. So maybe you need to retrain multiple times so it learns how you speak with both high and low pitch.

It works 100% of the time for me when the screen is on, never screen off or locked. Ive retrained, toggled on and off the switch, etc. Any ideas? Could there be some battery saving setting turned on for a certain app impacting this?
EDIT: Tried turning off battery optimization for Google App and no difference.

I think I know! If your secure and have a lock on then you need to go into smart lock and setup trusted voice!

Trusted voice just brings you right to the Ok Google settings. No matter what I do in there though, Trusted Voice never switches to "On".
I know you have to retrain in Google setting through Google voice I think. That's what I did originally and it works

OK so try shutting it off in Google settings. And then take security off phone. Not setup security again then tap smart lock and then trusted voice. It will take you to Google app and switch on all things. Then retrain voice and then go back into smart lock settings make sure trusted voice is on and then you just need to click phone screen off and say okay Google exactly as you did during training.

You are a genius. I removed screen security and ok google worked fine. Then set a password and then trusted voice. That now works with the screen off. I never got to the trusted voice disclaimer before this. Thanks!
Question though. The warning says someone could get into my phone with a similar voice. Is it actually unlocking the handset or just allowing this person "using my voice" to conduct certain Google Now actions?
EDIT: What is super weird is the option under OK Google Detection has change. It now says trusted voice instead of "personalized results"... This is super weird though because the OK Google does not even truly unlock the phone and there is no personalized results. I cannot do anything while the phone is locked. It beeps, I give my command but then it waits for a password. Found out why the option is changed but not why it doesn't work right: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/186263?hl=en
It actually unlocks the phone, but I mean that shouldn't be much of a security hazard. Also I think the not unlocking thing might be caused by on body detection? I haven't solved it yet. I'll try it though

Mine definitely does not unlock the phone nor is it of any use when the screen is locked. What should happen is the way Motorola implemented it. With the screen locked, I can get weather, make calls, send messages, etc. but cannot retrieve any information nor can I gain full access.
Now the next question... is there an OK GOOGLE command to turn the screen off? That would be killer.
Not sure what the value of that is but I still cannot get mine to work properly

DOBBY0 - Thank you for this suggestion. I had everything set up but every time I gave Google a command she would tell me she couldn't do it while my phone was locked. Starting over the way you suggested now works!

How's your battery life after enabling this feature? do you still get about 3.5-4 hours screen on time? or does it suck the battery?
I almost got 5hrs SOT and I have every feature turned on with this phone except for ambient display. The "OK google" with the screen off and unplugged works better than my moto X² PE did.
I honestly forgot that they allowed this feature. I set it up but like said before I would rather not allow my phone to be completely unlocked by voice. The feature becomes less cool if I have to unlock it to view Google searches.

Say "OK Google, open app root browser" Now I can see everything on your phone if I have a voice similar to yours.
