Blaze is a .gs2, it would probably brick. I wouldn't risk it. If anything I'd try the t-mobile .gs3 radio.

I been thinking...instead of messing with all that and end up with a brick, why just not sell it on ebay and buy an actual Tmobile one or maybe trade with someone willing to. I would look at the selling price for an AT&T GS3 on ebay and how much would a Tmobile run and if it's not that much difference then pay the difference than end up with a possible brick. Plus I have read some forums where if you flash some things that are not meant for your phone you can even mess up the IME on your phone with no way to flash it back at the moment until someone comes up with a solution for it.
Not trying to be a jerk. Just a friendly reminder that this is not development related and needs to be in general or QA. I would repost there and report your thread to a moderator before the pitch forks come out.

When I put my friends note to t mobile it was the modem you had to flash , if your set on doing it , read a bunch on ways to do the note WITHOUT a custom Rom then find the same files you use in that ( the modem and if I remember right there was one other thing ) then go to the t mobile section in the sgs 3 thread and ask for help finding those files , but do a lot of reading first cause it would be a shame to brick your awesome phone

buy the t-mobile version. it doesn't work hardware not supported
im looking into this as well, i had the att note and flashed the tmobile modem worked like a charm so now im looking to do same with s3. if i find anything ill let you know
I don't thonk it will work at all. Att's S3 is LTE, correct. Tmobiles is not. Two different hw radios used.
If you do try it please post your results for others!

I seriously wouldnt count on it. The two networks run on different technologies. Im pretty sure the hw is different due to this.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Have you guys tried the radios in the dev section by wildchld? I'm not sure it will work either but maybe worth a try. It has a script that backs up current radio and you can revert back. Atleast on T-Mobile s3 it does. Just need to reflash the restore zip to go back to previous radio. Again try at your own risk. There's a huge chance you can brick your device.

I don't think it matters if the Gs3 from T-Mobile doesn't have LTE, I used to have my Galaxy s2 skyrocket with LTE running on T-Mobile 3G/4G off a GS2 Hercules Modem.

Then by all means, give it a shot. I have no problem being proven wrong on stuff like this!
Just remember that was a different phone. And tmobiles radio Im pretty sure was confirmed to NOT support LTE. So they are different.
I'm definately looking forward to hearing someones results after trying! Just do some research on the two radios, and make sure the sw modem is on the same partition for each phone. (I think it will be. But if its not you could end up with serious problems)
Good luck to whomever tries it!

Probably won't, the T-Mobile phone is pentaband so it will run 3/4G on AT&T, but their version isn't. Try it though.

So I was in a tmobile store today and was told that both the note II and Gs3 will receive a software patch to enable the lte radio. Asked the question like 10 different ways as I've read online that the gs3 will NOT be let cab able.
the internal phone workings are a little above my head...but i was told that the tmobile sg3 is the same as say the att model which does have the lte radio,
So, does that sound right that the SG3 is future proof and will be able to enable LTE?

Its been a while so I dont remember the details, but I am convinced that
1. We will NOTget LTE one our GS3.
2. It doesn't really matter. By the time the majority of us get LTE in our market, we will have moved on to an even better phone! Also, most of us will get hspa+42 soon which for now is more than sufficient for almost everyones needs.

I think these threads need to be shut down. There are a number of other threads exactly like this that holds the correct information. Thanks Doc
I agree with Doc, we'll probably be on better phones by the time we have decent LTE reception -- and I'm happy enough with the DC-HSPA+ modem.
IMHO, they will likely release a Galaxy S3 [4G] LTE as an interm between the S3 and the S4. WRT LTE, all I know is what I see on Wikipedia's snapdragon article. Which isn't very clear on details. Also numerous MSM8960 phones /w LTE exist but do we even know if it's on die, let along bothering to crack open an AT&T and T-Mobile GS3 for a little hardware compare?
So afye reading this I have a question.... if you guys are saying that our phones arent capable then why on my phone (running frosty jb v7) are there 2 system apps called LTESettings.apk and LTETest.apk??? Are these not for our phone and are just ther e due to it being a port? And if so can I safely remove them so they are taking away ram and battery? Thanks in advanced

Hi guys new to the forums i did alot of searching and researching but just cant figure out a solution. I purchased this phone as a replacement to use in canada on the bell mobility network when i first recieved the phone i went to bell and tested with there sim card and the phone would not connect, so after being dissapointed i went home and downloaded and installed the Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.1 and unlocked and rooted the phone hopping this was my solution after this i headed back to the bell store and tested again still no luck I am hopping someone has any ideas for me i really would like to get this phone working
thanks
From what I understand, Bell is a GSM network correct? Well, Verizon is a CDMA carrier. The SIM card in our i515 is only for LTE. That's it. It won't work on Bell, I'm pretty sure you need an unlocked GSM Nexus for that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Bell Canada is not a CDMA carrier, you bought the wrong model, research first next time.

id like to know where you found that? if its from bell's website, you need to ask them how to flash a CDMA phone to their network.
if its not from their website, uh yeah... they're pretty much GSM only from what i know of them
EDIT: you found that information not from their website. here's the info you shouldve read: http://support.bell.ca/Mobility/Net..._phone_or_smartphone_work_on_the_Bell_network

No... The CDMA Nexus will only work on Verizon. I believe some of the very small carriers will work but don't depend on it. I think Rodgers may have a chance, but VZW is very tight about its phones

well sold the phone on ebay lots of interest and glad it went to a Verizon person knowing that it will work for them, and picked up a Galaxy Nexus on Wind Mobile Tab 40 bucks all included :good:
I am posting here because it seams no one knows why some phones have LTE only options and some do not.
I was wondering if someone can develop this feature somehow if the user is rooted and has there MSL code that doesn't have the LTE only option by Default.
Is this possible via development and if not why?

The only problem with going to LTE only is, on Sprint, LTE only supports data service. So if you went to LTE only you would lose voice service.
I want to lose my voice services. I just want to use my phone as a Data access point.
So do you know if someone can develop this feature?

ah ok, wasnt really clear in your explanation. any of the custom roms i have used i don't ever remember seeing lte only. sorry man wish i could help a little better.
It's possible to have LTE only, yet not many people can develop radios that shut out normal service. Good idea
Though!

Ya what if some one developed a ROM feature to where you can at least disable 3G so the phone could only connect to LTE. This could bypass the possible hardware limitations.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
Probably won't work but use efrants return to stock guide and instead of flashing both radios try flashing the LTE radio only and see what that gets you
Bloods thicker than water
I wonder why this is not more popular and why more people are not working on this possibility.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
Search in the Play Store for "Network" by Philipp Mangelow. It is actually a shortcut to the phone's built in diagnostics mode. It doesn't work for stock or ROMs with stock kernels, but I have used it to put the phone into LTE-only mode for testing. You will see both GSM and CDMA settings, regardless of which one your phone is. Try them all, sometimes the setting is mislabeled (its a bug with the ROM, not the app).
So in short, even if your ROM doesn't support LTE-only, you have a good chance of this feature with this app.

The LTE option only appears on certain ROMs. I forgot which ones, and I can't check right now because I flashed back to stock so I can take my phone to Sprint for repairs (overheating). Try Eclipse, Maddoggin, Carbon, Rasbean, or Jellybro. One of those will have an LTE option I'm sure. What I do is set the LTE option, then below I turn off the radio, and then turn it back on. Oh and sometimes the 4G icon doesn't appear, depending on the ROM, but if you do a speedtest you'll obviously see you're connected to LTE.
Okay I have tried all of them by turning off the radio and turning them back on. Also did not pay attention to names. It still did not work so I guess I will have to try one of those Roms.
Do you know if I can install one of those ROMs with the sprint nexus toolkit? And which ROM would you suggests first.
Also im afraid it might be a hardware issue do you think that is possible? Maybe I got one of the first Sprint 4G LTE Nexuses that you can't split the LTE signal.

If the LTE ONLY option doesn't work on the the first try, use the Network app posted above to turn off the radio and back on again. :victory:
