I'm quite new to Samsung's Android processes. I'm pretty well versed in HTC Devices but Samsung phones are just entirely different. I have a HTC Desire as well as this Galaxy S (Touchwiz seriously sucks )
I want to root the phone and install a Stablish FroYo ROM on the phone. Is that possible?
No its not, caus there is now stable froyo rom atm.
For your root problem check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742403
You can do it manualy too, like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754
FroYo will be realesed in early September. Those Froyo Firmwares you can find here are alpha versions, which were leaked. Furthermore jit is broken in JP2 and JP3 (Froyo releases)
I prefer JM2, it feels most responsive, this is 2.1 leaked release.
about touchwiz, just install LauncherPro oder ADW Launcher from market and set it as default

Naturally
Installed LauncherPro after 5 minutes of TouchWiz. Still laggy but meh. Gonna get going with rooting it now and I may try my hand at a Sense UI port once I get a foothold in Galaxy S Development. Sense UI on the Galaxy S would be lovely.
Yeah what he said, don't bother with Froyo atm it's to buggy, i would say go for JM5 + SamSet 1.9c custom ROM + One click Lagfix BETA 2-1
that all = a perfectly smooth SGS, with no issues
and yeah would love to see Sense UI on SGS, it certainly has the capability to use it.
question to you who have used both touchwiz and sense. Why does tw such so much? I think its quite neat but i have nothing to compare with.
From what ive read the many sense-widgets are very hard on cpu/mem

For one it's laggy. Second of all it looks like a cheap tacky iPhone clone. Not as classy. Sense UI looks much smoother and much more professional.
The Galaxy itself comes with only 4(?!) stock Android widgets and a couple of crappy Samsung Widgets. Sense phones come with a massive amount of widgets.
Here are a list of stock widgets on the Desire
Analog Clock (HTC And Android versions)
Bookmarks
Calculator
Calendar x2
Clock (7 of them including the one with the kick ass weather animations)
Facebook for android
FM Radio
Footprints
Friend Stream
Google Search
Latitude
Mail (Scrollable mail widget supporting exchange and POP/IMAP)
Market widget
Messages widget
Music Widgets
News widget
News and Weather widget
Photo frame (multiple sizes)
Stocks
Settings widgets for almost every setting
Sync widget
Twitter for Sense widget
Weather widget
Youtube Widget
The whole interface seems more streamlined within eachother as well. Samsung would do well to release Stock Android phones tbh.
Is there any of those that is not accessible on the market or have replacements thats better there? Can you sideload them to the sgs?

U can get launcher pro and built-in to plus version (not free) u'll find a calendar, bookmark, contact widget that mimick the sense widgets very well.
Does any one know if samsung's widgets are launcher dependant ? if all they rely on is the framework, then changing the intents of the widgets in the manifest should make it available in other launchers.

Not that I know of. The only one that mimicks a sense widget somewhat well is fancy weather widget which even at that doesn't have full screen weather animations.
They're all completely dependent on the Sense UI framework as does any HTC app. No developer has managed to get them working on anything but a Sense based ROM.
as it took sometime to totally port jellybean for us..lets get fun to the lockscreen first
maybe someone dindt know this thing yet so im sharing it to you
Simple and fast lock screen replacement, based on stock Jelly Bean lock screen.
Holo locker is not a theme for Go Locker or others, it is the real Jelly Bean lock screen app.
MOBINT SOFWARE offer us this oppurtunity
this is the link : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5tb2JpbnQubG9ja2VyIl0.
im a paranoidandroid user....so for those who is using tablet mode..switch this to 128DPI ...it will fit enough
enjoy
Threre is already a thread about this lockscreen here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771843
This sucks really bad... fails all the time and a lot of other bugs. Much better changing frameworks.

Just wanted to ask, maybe someone got one or tried one.
Pop Corn..
Mate, hi, till now there is no 4.2 android, well you have a buggy one. Right now, HTC is working fixing JB 4.1 bugs in the ota, so it would be impossible to find Sense htc 4.1....but... You only salvation is that you port Android 4.2 from LG nexus so we can use it. I bet on YOU bro. I know you can.
SkyDragon Sense Rom V1
CyanogenMod just made a bunch of announcements regarding 4.2 overnight.
Work is well underway.
For now you can install the 4.2 GAPPS package to enjoy the new widgets and apps. Camera is buggy though.
Just a question.
There is a porting of Lockscreen(ring) by Sense for Android Jelly Bean 4.2?
I don't want Agile Lock and similar but a little modify also for rooted phone.
Thank you.

It is my understanding that you need the whole Rosie e.i. the Sense framework for the sense lockscreen to work so there is no way (at least not an easy one) for just porting the app because it's system integrated... You're better off with a 3rd party lockscreen like go locker etc. Just to let you know that there is sense 4 + JB in development so keep an eye on the dev thread in about a month

So, there is not a method for the porting of Rosie "lockscreen".
I don't want go locker, agile lock or similar because they are not perfect. They drain more battery than stock JB locker and occasionally the stock launcher appear without permission.
Good news about sense 4 + JB. It's what I need, because JB is very smooth, light and with poor battery drain, Sense instead is awesome but too expensive about ram.
Thank you for your information, i'll be waiting for news.

No, like I said, there is no way of porting just the lock screen. You need the entire sense framework to make it work because it's tightly system integrated... Well just have to wait for the jb + sense

Ok, thank you for your time!
Can anyone make Launcher of S5 mini compatible with Android 4.3? Arsaw ported S5 launcher, so it can be possible, right?
Reasons of why S5 mini launcher is better for us?
-It designed for 720p screen. So, it uses less RAM than S5 launcher.
I switched to S5 mini weather widget from S5 weather widget, my RAM usage is better now.
-Latest Samsung launcher for 720p screen.
S5 mini weather widget is different from the S5 one. You can check it. S5 mini widget has min. max. temperature of day, S5 hasn't.
Looks like there is no developers to answer. S III is old. I understand now.

Use kitkat version, there's no point of backport to 4.3

why do you think that? I want to use 4.3 on my S3 because of 4.4.2 port is unstable and it's annoying. I think that someone can backport to 4.3 like S5 keyboard and S5 mini weather widget.

I checked out it, still has many problems. It is faster, but not stable. Stock 4.3 is better for me. But I don't know what is better for you.
