I have rooted my S3 and installed a CPU governor. This has helped save my battery. However, is there a way to disable one of the processors to save more battery life?
My guess is no and that ill have to buy an extended battery.

I've read about this app/script specifically for what you're looking for.

I have system panel app, and it shows CPU1 turned off while using unless its needed. This is on a bone stock system, with the screen off I have no idea, but Im sure its the same.

I don't worry about battery life, brightness all the way up, sync on, widgets on every screen, Wi-Fi always on. I usually get about 14 hours

I'm very conservative. WiFi off, data off when not using it, brightness depends, auto sync off, no battery sucking apps like facebook

I get phenomenal battery life out of my S3 (stock).
I had an Epic 4G and was afraid to leave my desk because of the battery drain. With moderate usage (30-60 mins talk time, texting, chat, some web, exchange, ect) I can easily get 16-20 hours. Signal quality in your area will impact it more than anything. Also, wifi is vastly easier on the battery.
PS Facebook app SUCKS. Just bookmark the webpage and use that. Works better and doesn't ruin your phone.
Here how it looks like ! Lovin this screen on time..

I think it depends on how its configured. I've seen it eat the battery but also not use it much at all. Been a bit since I messed with it though so don't remember what settings made the difference.

Post a screen shot and I'll tell ya what could be happening.
You can improve battery life by switching to custom roms with less bloatware, and updating to more efficient kernels. (This is on a Rom/Kernel level)
Software wise, just figure out what apps are causing wake times and try not to use them. Basically whenever an app/widget refreshes/updates content, it may cause phone to wake (like weather/clock widgets for example).
I have been using cpusleep and it seems to have helped my battery life ... also using a custom rom without the bloatware is key for me.
my current setup is freegs3 release 6 with the latest trinity kernel...even though its overclocked my battery has been amazing and phone has worked flawless.
Im also using system tuner which has given me the ability to manage the cpu with on demand and other customizable settings
The only thing I synch is my k9 mail account
I also have frozen several samsung apps which helped...
Im now getting over 20 hours of basic use between charges...I dont use games/videos so might be a little skewed . I use this phone for business calls/internet/messaging/photos/navi...pretty basic

I have been using Gigajoule lately by feckmu and it has given me the best battery life out of all the custom roms I have tried. Even with GPS, WIFI, and screen at full brightness I can make it through the entire day with 30-40% battery left. If your looking for a rom-based solution to your battery life, check it out!

Hi guys using wicked with trinity 7b. See a few people posting 2 days on one charge and over 6 hours screen time. Would like to know how as i cannot get anywhere near that. I use system tuner, odex my Rom and kill my tasks whenever possible. I use lh2 modem.
Anyone with huge battery time please help us out here. I'm sure many of us would like some help. Also if you tweak your build.prop press share that.
Looking for details. I'm not a noob

They are not using the stock battery. If you want battery like that, buy an extended battery. That is the only answer.
What I find most telling in many of these screen shots is that Device Idle and Cell Standby are almost always in the top.

Cell standby is actually lying. It was coded with a decimal in the wrong place and so it shows that it uses a lot more than it actually does. Purely cosmetic really, but can be annoying when testing battery issues.
Edit: many custom roms have corrected this btw.

Ya, I saw that before. There is a zip floating around here somewhere that moves it from .34 to 3.4 and fixes it. But you're right that most custom ROMs have this (Cell Standby) fixed.
I just mainly think that Device Idle even being in the top 3 or 4 is a very telling sign that the phone is not being used very much.
Install the easy battery saver app.
I hate to be the jerk... but OP has spammed every rom thread nearly bugging about screen time. Nowadays its hard to get 6+ hours of screen time. Maybe switch to an older, dumber phone with not as sexy as display and you will have better luck. Or carry a spare battery... or strategically place chargers in common spots.

The only way i could probably make 6 hours screen on time would be to lower brightness all the way down, turn off data whenever Im not using it, turn of autosync, underclock and undervolt. But then what would be the point of me having such an awesome phone

I do all those things (-underclocking and undervolting), and more, because I don't need most of this on all the time, and my screen time is great. Plus, I bought a 4400mah extended battery & get 4-5 days on a single charge.
Then u need an old nokia.

When you plug you phone in the charger the hours reset, my screenshots were to show that its not impossible to get 6+ hours, if I under clock and turn everything off I can probably get that.

Screen shots are great guys. I do want to see them. Most importantly trying to see if there are deeper settings and apps to freeze or avoid and tweaks to build.prop etc.
Rom and kernel and modem used would be helpful.
Also, you did charge but the timer will only reset when you fully charge the phone.

Well first off what are your settings? I get great battery life but that's because I turn mobile data off most of the time, bluetooth off, brightness all the way down etc etc. If you're talking OC / UV then I haven't a clue sorry
If battery life is important though I recommend an extended battery. I have the hyperion one off amazon and it doubles the capacity for not too much bulk.

Figure out what's using up your battery, and get it to stop doing so.
The basic battery statistics in Settings -> Battery are a good starting point. Past that, perhaps give BetterBatteryStats a spin.

Usually forcing the use of GPU does cause a difference in battery life, but the difference is unnoticeable. Maybe half a millisecond less of battery life.
Edit: My info may be wrong. I just read this in ICS days in a similar thread.

It should increase battery life since hardware acceleration usually means less stuff for the CPU to process which equals power savings.

I enable it on every ROM i use after ramping up GPU to 384 without really thinking about it. Always has been solid for me. And yeah, im gonna say that it doesnt do a 'whole' lot for battery. But hey, another 5% on a charge? I'll take it.

I'm sick and tired of all of my iPhone friends having their batteries going strong after heavy usage and I'm struggling to keep up.
I know, I know, it must be an app or some process, but the battery indicator in the settings shows nothing irregular and I have no idea how to interpret Better Battery Stats.
Hell, I'm even on a Mophie Battery Case to get me through the day, but it makes the phone hotter, heavier, thicker, and slippier.
I've tried so many ROMs and kernels and nothing has been able to get me from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with moderate usage (mainly sometimes using Internet browsing apps such as Reddit or Dolphin, and playing some on device music).
I need your input. I love this phone but the battery is really giving me buyer's remorse regarding my contract that ends December 2014.
I'm currently rooted on 4.3 SlimBean and its stock kernel.
I need suggestions, any and all!
Most importantly, I would like your absolute best combination of ROM and/or kernel in terms of battery life. Thanks in advance.

Dunno if it will help u but there's this app on Google play called setcpu for root users. Basically it let's u control your CPU power. you can over clock or under clock your phone with it. So if u wanna save battery life through the day. U can limit the amount of power or phone uses. Hope it helps. If not then u might need to buy a new battery. Good luck.
