Build.prop phone calls settings? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I remember I seen someone post something about an app and also a way to manually change settings that have to do with phone calls from build.prop but I can't seem to remember where they were posted.... I think it was in one of the ROMs we have here but not sure which one. This was maybe id say a weekago?
I'm using cm7 now and wanna see if those settings are what I have or can I make my phone call quality, or whatever there for, better.

There is a thread in general with build.prop tweaks
It links to another page that says what some of the tweaks are for, might have what you are looking for in one of these 2 places.

These aren't exactly what I was looking for but it does have some nice tweaks.
But the post I'm talking about was somewhere around our ROMs. Not sure which on exactly right now and I can't find it. Someone posted it and it was edits to build.prop and mostly dealing with phone calls, like sound quality and hiring the volume and stuff like that.

searching around, and found this, not sure it is what you are looking for, but I included the place I found it, and it might help your search
ro.ril.enable.amr.wideband=1 (better in call voice quality)
found HERE

Bloatware

Have been using the xda app from my phone and I can't seem to get the search feature to work well. I was looking for a list of Bloatware that is safe to remove. My Rom is rooted stock with a few extras but all of the Sprint crap is still on it. If someone could post one or point me in the direction of one, it'd be much appreciated

Please use the SEARCH function next time!!
List of apps you can possibly remove -- not all are safe
How to remove bloatware via ADB
Also, I believe JoeyKrim's latest stock ROM has all the bloatware removed.
Thanks for your help guys found the info I needed. If the search function were working properly wouldn't need to post for help. Tried a ton of keywords and returned no results...so sorry, psuedoremora didn't mean to waste your valuable time.

Hahaha.
Don't say it so defensively.
When searching, if you can't find what you're looking for directly on the site, then you need to use Google search -- enter your keyboards and add xda at the end, it'll search the keyboards, while looking for that site. That's how I found what you wanted.
P.s. I might have come off as a jerk, but believe me, it's better I say something now or at least in the manner of how I said it than have someone flame you worse than me, which is quite often. My request is a very polite way of telling you to search next time... but it's understandable.

Can't Set Contact Ringtones

I've search the forums high and low and can't seem to find any solution, answer or work around. I flashed the CNA rom ICS 4.0.4 "[ROM]^[CodeName:Android]^[4.0.4]^[4.29.12] Alpha 2 test" and also tried AOKP Build 35. Both roms have the same issue.
It seems I can't set any ringtones for my contacts. It allows me to choose them but when I get a call it plays what ever the default ringtone is set to instead of the contact selected one.
Is there a work around for this problem, or is just a a bug that I have to deal with?

You're in the wrong section bud it should be in Q & A, but to answer your question i believe it's a bug the same thing was happening to me so i went back to CM9
Oh my apologies. Thought it was a developer type of question lol. Is CM9 stable?

Moved thread to Q & A and cleaned up thread. Lets keep it clean and remember if you didnt develop anything then it doesnt belong in the development section. If its a question then it goes into the Q (Question) & A (Answer) section of the forum in which you reside. Its not that hard. Also there is no reason to flame either as a simple thread reported post or simply reporting the post will get actioned just as fast and I wont have to clean up a mess while moving. Thanks and have a great day

Call recording on S3

Is there any way to get call recording to work on the phone? Ive tried 5 different apps and none work.
A lot of the ICS roms have the ability enabled.
The one I used was Wanamlite. If you're on jelly bean, I don't think they've figured out a way to enable this.
Lemme dig through my apps.... I had one that worked flawless on CM10
Edit: you've got mail if anyone else wants pm me cuz I'm too noob to the site to post links :banghead:

Why don't you just post the name of the app?
Because typing it in the market will result in 20 apps with the same name lol

The app called sanity had functional call recording on my telus model until the jelly been update (rooted stock rom). It was not the speakerphone trick either, it was good quality for both sides of the call.
So that's an answer for anyone who hasn't updated and a bump otherwise.

I finally found one that works. My 6th app I tried. It's called NG recorder.
I spoke too soon. Only works when on speaker. Anyone able to get call recording to work on S3?
Latest version of callrecorde work on S3. Check the thread to see what setting you need. You need Alsa and also you need to set the phone model as the last one in the list, qualcom experimental. I have it on JB and it is working fine, just a little crackle sound in the background but it does not change much, you can hear the conversation very well.

Yes, CallRecorder is working for me too but the crackle in the background is rather annoying. Any other clear sounding options available?

build.prop edits?

G3 has so many build prop edits...where is the love for the note 2?
http://getcorner.blogspot.com/2013/02/how-to-tweak-your-samsung-galaxy-s3s.html
Is this possible? Would it even work for the note 2? Just thought I would ask!

Yup. Akl those listed will work just fine on note 2. Just make sure you read the directions and descriptions carefully, no need to enable all those just because you can.

I ended up downloading pimp my rom apk from market and am messing with that at the moment! Thanks for the confirmation...much appreciated!
Interesting app. Which tweaks have you tried in it and which will cause issues?
And, of the tweaks you've tried, how do you know they are actually working?
So these edits in the link do you just add them or do you have to change whats there to say the mode. Because I just add at the bottom and every thing seems to be working I think nothing broke lol sonthats a good sign

I only do the ones I understand! If you go to the forum for this app there are tones of explanation of what each tweak or mod does. THE ONLY ONES I DIDNT USE WERE THE CAMERA MODS DUE TO THE FACT I HEARD THEY BRAKE THE CAMERA. Other than that just make a nand and tweak away! How do I know its working...i guess i dont. It seems faster, multitasking, internet and data...to me it seems to be working. My only concern was if you invoke a tweat or mod that doesnt play well with a tweat or mod in your rom already...they tend to fight each other and can make things sluggish. I noticed that the build.prop edits are put at the end of the build.prop file under /system and also in /system/etc/init.d. In the ladder of the locations i think is where Platt puts the tweaks for my rom Synergy. Thats my 2 cents! I have been running safe with the mods and tweaks for over 24 hours now and no issues!

I ended up using pimp my rom apk due to the easiness of the UI! And there are plenty of videos explaining what each tweak does on his forum page.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908269
I've tested a few, then used 3 different benchmark tools and speed test apps.
Many of the ones I've tested obviously require custom kernels, etc or otherwise have 0 effect. Ex: vsync.....
As a good reminder, before you start experimenting, make sure you back up your device with a fresh nandroid.

Have you ever tried Groupme? It's in the playstore.
It's not in our secmms by default. Is a pretty simple mod to do though.

Not really, the Verizon variant doesn't have the notification bubbles on the lockscreen, shutterv sound in camera app and the launcher didn't have infinite scrolling. They all got there neat little added features.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
The mod to activate the ability to do group messaging in SecMms is simple, but in my experience getting it to function as it's supposed to is a different story unfortunately. With help from a thread in the AT&T section I believe I got it close, but not close enough for me to keep it.
That being said, 4.2.2 roms I believe are fine with group messaging.

This was useful for "flipping the switch" in the SecMms.apk itself, but most of my experimenting came from pulling framework2.jar/SecTelephonyProvider.apk files from here, decompiling them, looking for where things changed (comparing a "base" version - I used unmodified Novella files as those were reported working - to the modded versions in the post), then looking at our own files, seeing where things differ between the unmodified Novella and TMobile versions, and trying to work in the changes from the OP of that thread. It was pretty close, but there was still some buggy behavior in my opinion for how I wanted to implement things (which differed slightly from the OP) - so I figured aosp mms was close enough for me and let it go lol. This is no small task - but far from impossible. For me it was a cost/benefit thing - it was costing myself too much of my own time for a benefit I could get elsewhere - but such cost/benefit analyses will vary from individual to individual
