Can I flash from rem ics to mortify v2 final or do I have to go back to stock then flash the rom? Noob question

Wipe data, cache, and dalvik and flash away.
Odining back to stock is only necessary when going from MTD to BML.
I walk on toilet paper cuz I'm the s###!

Yes You can
Download the Rom first
Wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache

[Q] flashing zips: when to wipe data/cache/dalvik .. etc

flashed SRF 1.1.0 a couple days ago (first time rooting and all -- yeehaw!), so this is a n00b question
i know that for that, i had to data data, cache, and dalvik cache
i've also flashed the Vision kernel, which ... seemed like it didn't require wiping data or cache or dalvik cache
i've also flashed an impaled keyboard tweak and that one seemed to require wiping just cache and dalvik cache, but not data (as i recall)
so... i'm just confused, and wondering... when do i know if i need to wipe data, or just cache/dalvik, or none at all?
i just flashed the AOSP screen lock zip .. didn't see any instructions, so i figure wipe cache and dalvik, but not data (didn't want to lose my texts was my thinking)... and i just made that up. and that seemed to work. but i figure if i knew the rules of thumb, i'd feel better like i knew what i was doing
any clues / insights would be super appreciated!!
The only time u wipe:
1.
Data/Cache/Dalvik
For a rom flash that says on the rom thread wipe wipe wipe
2.
Cache/Dalvik
Is mainly when u flash themes its reccomended
3.
As for kernals and other mods unless it says to wipe then you dont need to...
Nice info so far.
After you have done this a while you can start drawing from your brain through osmosis and you will understand: if it doesn't work the way you want....EXPERIMENT.

the above post is correct, sorta.
anytime u flash something that mods /system its good practice to wipe cache and dalvik cache.
flashing a kernel, u will want to wipe cache/dalvik cache just to be safe. it prevents any sort of incompatibility between kernels.
my 2 cents

Going from Megamix ICS to Tuesday Rom

How would i go about doing this? In the megamix forum oage it says to do a superwipe then clear data and cache than flash stock than clear data and cache again and flash stock again..tuesday rom says to flash superwipe flash kernal clenser and cache (something like that)..So should i just flash darkside flash kerbal cleanser then clear cache then flash tuesday rom?

I would do a Superwipe to Tuesday Rom and if I felt paranoid flash Tuesday twice.

Click to collapse
wipe data, flash darkside wipe, flash kernel cleanser (this clears all cache for u), flash tuesday, clear dalvik cache, fix permissions, reboot
Thanks guys, flashed Tuesday with no issues!

[Q] Restoring stock ROM backup

Can someone tell me the best order to do the wipe cache and the other stuff before restoring stock rom backup via cwm?
First of all, flash the right kernel for stock via fastboot... I suggest titanium kiss then:-
Recovery>wipe data/factory reset>restore backup which u want to do...
no need to wipe cache and dalvik?
Wipe data/factory reset will do all...

[Q] Do i have to wipe cache/dalvik cache before install new kernel?

In my case, I always wipe data/cache/dalvik cache before install new Custom ROM.
Then, Do i have to wipe cache/dalvik cache before install new kernel?(not DATA)
its a good idea to wipe cache
you dont have to, but you might run into problems if you dont.

full wipe?

when I flash a new rom I format system, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik. my question is does that completely wipe your entire phone? if not, how would you go about doing it? or is it not necessary? would flashing the stock kdz and then start over with the root and cwm installation be the best way?
