SetCPU v3.0.7
Frequency and govenor will not stick after setting. Defaults back to smartassV2 or conservative DEADLINE after screen on/off or after a reboot. Any ideas?

Do you have another app, like system tuner, or rom toolbox, that has the settings for frequency and sheduler set for "set at boot"?
i.e...perhaps another app is changing it back

Unless MIK placed something in the system/etc or in the init.d file. It only began doing this when I upgraded to the latest version of SetCPU. Not running system tuner; only running Gemini App which is a task manager and I have SetCPU marked as a Favorite so that it never gets killed. Only other thing I can think of is something in MikTweaks but I havent found any settings related to the frequency/schedulers, only memory settings and i'm using defaults.
Yeah, setCPU doesn't like to keep the CPU settings upon reboot. Just use NoFrills from the Play Store, it's free!
I agree with MBQ,No-Frills CPU is the best one out,its never givin me any problems mate.

-undervolted cpu
-undervolted components (maybe some major battery life improvements)
-minor fixes
--------------------v3.0-------------------- IN TEST
-completely new kernel based on arco and castagnaIT sources.
-undervolted (if someone get crashes, tell me)
-overclocked (up to 2ghz)
-probably better battery life and performance with BFS
-added some new battery friendly governors
-BFS brought some major performance improvements and smoothness (5000+ on antutu)
****** I'm uploading an pre-undervolted version and a stock volted one. ******
****** New v3.0 stock version up to 2GHZ ******
****** Reference voltages attached ******
If you want to tweak BFS scheduler try setting values (1-300) on /proc/sys/kernel/rr_interval
PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK.
Obs: tell me if bluetooth, gps, fm, wifi and any other component are working fine.
BFS version only this time.
OBS:Im still trying to find a way to make BLN mod work for our phone.
Please give me feedback and suggestions. Thanks
i'm currently use your v1 kernel, can i flash the new one directly?
or i need to do some wipe first?

Yea i'm a bit worried about this as well.
I'm using V1 now and it's so great that I'm afraid to upgrade to V2.
Does it improve battery life? For me is the most important thing about a kernel. =)
....
Ok, I installed V2. I'm using smartass as CPU Governor. On V1, everything was ok.
I realized that boot on V2 takes too much time (stuck on black "Samsung Galaxy W" screen) although it boots.
My phone just did a random reboot. It never happened before. I just opened Phone, Messaging, WhatsApp and it rebooted. =| And now it turns on and reboot itself again without opening a single app.
I'm going back to V1. =)
Great job, by the way!

exactly the same problem like in my efforts!
please tell me how, when it's fixed..
reverting to v1 and goin to my classes..
Thanks for ur great work on improving our ICS kernel !!
here the question, the new kernel has reboot bugs, :crying:
now still no way fix it rite ..?

Brother, give him some time. In fact he just uploaded today and it is normal there are bugs.
Flashing V2, but reverting back to V1. About long time to boot I think it because too many governors, and i/o, you should remove few standard governors like powersave, ondemand, interactive (since there is interactiveX and ondemandX) then smartass, because smartassv2 is included, noop, and other standard i/o. Just my silly thought btw sleep of death occured to me, so strange in v1 this is not occured, I think this is because kernel debugger thing and celancache/frontswap so I flash back to v1

I current use smartassv2 with the sio i/o and its been great in both performance and battery, it also feels smoother as well.
Okay then do I need to wipe cache of something for installing v2? I am from Arco's kernel.

Are you flashing from v1 or from just the arco kernel?
Also might I suggest trying to flash v1 since its been reported to be more stable than v2 is.
kernel v2 isn't stable for now, I suggest you using v1

Brian, just flash the zip file. I suggest to have a back up using CWM prior flash using CWM. Once flashed just reboot.

Were you using any application when it happended? Because i've disabled FSync, and its known to be causing issues. I have to check whats the problem. Thanks

I agree with you. Thanks for the feedback. I intend to make a lightweight kernel, but first i want to implement all requested features and later we start to burn the extra fat...ahahah

No problem, I really don't mind with its current size as of this moment and it doesn't really feel clunky unless you start having all CPU governors in there then yea...:good:
How do i install this Kernel? Just flash it with CWM?
Hi,
Im having some huge problems with performance on my phone.
Earlier I was on stock, now I am on x3reme sense
Usually when I go to Apps, and I see space available for apps it shows me around 400mb
When the Phone is really lagging and unresponsive, the space it shows me is around 90mb. I am really confused as to what is eating that space sometimes?
Another issue is that the phone takes over 5 minutes to open a SMS thread, i think it gets stuck in a loop while searching for contacts. Any ideas for improvement?

Try different governors & i/o scheduler.
I dont have this problem
i use smartassV2 with bfq
Try it.

I m using Titanium kiss
use cfq.
use stock rom.
use stock, over clock or make a swap. I don't know if its psychosomatic but after making a swap all of my problems went away with pacman.
when I oc, I usually keep the min as low as possible, and for the max 1400. I use Lionheart and noop or deadline. it depends. if I'm playing games I usually clock it a little higher.

Hello
Can any one tell me what the option in the Performance means?
1- Governor
2- IO Scheduler
3-Set on Boot
and what effect will be on each drop down menu item on the phone when over clocking or under as in attached immages also
I tried to search but failed or might be not searched too good.
Thanks in advance,

They're pretty simple to understand. The governor tab just sets what CPU governor your device will use. The IO scheduler tab just sets which IO scheduler it will use. And the Set on Boot tab is pretty self explanatory. Do some research as to what each specific governor and IO scheduler does and it will make much more sense.
if you spell kernel right people might take you more seriously, just a thought.

Firstly, I assume by the size score that you are using Antutututu. If so then you always get variance in the scores, and yes it can be 4k difference.
Next, I'm gonna bet that you are seeing thermal throttling, where the device is turning off 2 of the cores due to heat.
I've only noticed this behaviour recently myself. It's a real pain in the arse. I've downloaded trinity kernel app to get around the problem. In his app you can turn off thermal throttling and force the two other Cores to stay on.
This isn't a permanent fix though as the settings don't want to stick for some reason that is beyond me.
Next, is there no reset to default in no frills cpu app ?
Or you can uninstall no frills and make sure you delete any folders off your sd card, then either reflash your rom or you could even flash AICP kernel.
This should get you back to default.
Finally if you still think it's your settings, you could tell us all the settings you have changed and between the guys on the forum we could tell you what to change back to.
All the best rich
**just had a quick look at no frills on play Store. Looks like there's not loads to alter.
I like interactive governer and row scheduler (as we can't get row I use deadline.)
Min frequency wants to be at 384 and max at 1728.
That's the basics.
