Switching from Touchwiz to CM9/AOKP/MIUI can be rough for those who loved the music player and how nice the sound was.

I've owned a lot of headphones, for most, the first setup is the best. Then there are ones for the Beats. If you haven't yet, I'd get the beats audio files (search the forums somewhere)
For the first (most headphones), the setup should look like this:
*Note*
I don't recommend using that much bass/treble, unless they a high quality headphones such as the Bose.

And for the beats... (Works best with the beats solo/soloHD)
*Note*
You can turn up your bass a bit (don't go overboard) and of course treble. And Stereo X if you'd like. Once again, I highly recommend getting the beats audio files.
CM9/AOKP/MIUI with DSPManager/Awesome Beats sounds a whole lot better than PowerAMP ever will.
I don't know what kind of headphones you're using with PowerAMP, but the bass is dreadful. Especially in comparison.
Also, would you by any chance be promoting warez? It sounds like it.

The reason I made these is because DSP wasn't really working for me. Plus, this will work on any ROM that isn't AOSP. Try these equalizers. I promise you won't regret it. And no I do not know who Warez is.

Didnt seem like warez, as the downloads seem to be downloaded from the legit market, but definitely a way to bypass the "you paid for it" option for Poweramp, still a no-no, at least for XDA, from what I can tell.
OP, I would advise you remove how to get by the license check, unless you want to be smacked by a mod, though the rest of the setup info is rather nice to know, IMO.
btw, I find DSPManager to be absolutely HORRIBLE!!!

I've had a pair of Sony V6's since I was eight. Still only $80~, and still sound better than most, if not all.

You get what you pay for. I have had several noise canceling headphones over the years. Sony which cost 60$. Ultimate Ears which cost 200$. Now I have a Bose which cost 300$. Sony were good but lacked some quality and even when listening to loud could disturb others around you. Loved the ultimate ears as they were ear bud style. The bass would send shivers down my spine but yet again could disturb others around if too loud. The Bose are almost perfect. Only problem if playing at a max volume is sometimes they have to be perfectly placed on your head or they will go in and out. I think it also has to do with battery power as I notice it happens more with a low battery. But they are some of the best sounding headphones I have ever used. Since they almost suction to your ears they don't output too much noise around you if being played loud. So yes your 5$ headphones might sound good but test them against a 300$ pair and you will notice a big difference.
I can only add that my two house mates, who install high end home theatre systems for people who are way too rich to bother to investigate brands, scoff and snicker at anyone considering Bose as a viable sound solution.
"All highs, no lows. Must be Bose" is their motto.
They consider Monster to be in the same league.
But what do I know? Not much, considering I've been a Sony whore since 1996... MDR-7506. Still rocking!

I have a mono bluetooth headset I use for making calls but that I would also like to use for listening to my phone radio. I know there are several available in the market. Anyone have a recommendation?
I am using Supermono right now and it works well but could have better volume.
Last I checked, this can't be done.
Super BT Mono Froyo.
The sound quality sucks though. The free trial lasts 5 days and then you have to buy the app and at $2.99 for lousy quality it's not worth it. Then again quality depends on the individual so if you try it and like it then kudos.

Yeah, well it al depends on how you want to use it. I like to listen to talk radio on TuneIn in the car and the speaker isn't loud enough for me to hear it over engine noise. With this, I can listen on my bluetooth headset and still make calls as well so worth it. Also, its just 3 bucks

does the bt basically work as if it was a2dp with that app? I like listening to the GPS through BT, as well as listen in on my surveillance cameras with BT. dont really care to listen to music with it. I have A2DP headsets but the new motorola Oasis is my new favorite and of course it doesnt support A2DP.

Yeah Super BT Mono pretty much works as advertised and comes with a nice homescreens widget to turn it on and off.
One nice thing about it is that it transitions seamlessly between whatever you are streaming and an incoming call. Once the call is over it goes back to your streaming audio automatically.
The price on it just went down to like $2 and change. Definitely worth it IMHO.
P.S. the sound quality for music sucks, not because the software is bad but because your mono headset wanst really designed for music.

Awesome thanks for the answer. Exactly what i've been needing!! Now i can make use of my entire BT collection! Majority are not A2DP, the ones that are, are not comfortable. I have 3 more (2 at work, 1 in car) that are not in this pic. I couldn't live without BT. I've been using it for years (aprox 50 different ones) and will purposely cut a call short if i have to hold a phone to my ear for more than a few minutes... My arm cramps up lol Thats pretty bad innit My new favorite came in yesterday..The Motorola oasis. Best BT ever! WOW at the comfort level, no sound complaints yet either! My first BT of that style. So far so good with quality on the other end...
I do have a gripe about Super Mono BT Froyo..It is not silent, a lot of occasional random noise when enabled. I doesn't bother me if whatever i am listening to is actually playing 100% of the time, i can barely here the noises then. If there is any pause or silence, the scratches and clicks are very annoying, and not gonna be manageable for me. Does anybody have any other suggestions for a different app? TIA
I came across Bluetooth audio widget, they also provide 5 days trial. Will be trying it tomorrow.

Yet another "Improve your SGS2 sound quality" thread. Just try it once already!
Hey guys! I was very VERY disappointed with the audio quality on SGS2 coming from a Voodoo'd SGS1! Been fiddling a lot with different stuff (tried all the other threads on XDA), but could not get myself to like the sound.
Now I think I've created something *almost* perfect. And thought I'd share here. This method required the free Equalizer app from the Market and the paid Poweramp app (brilliant player, worth every penny, trust me). To *me*, this sounds *very* similar too SGS1 on Voodoo! Maybe not there in terms of loudness or clarity, but yeah, now I can listen to music on my phone without puking.
So here goes!
1. Install Equalizer, press the power button on top right, and enable *just* the Equalizer bit.
2. Press the custom button on the bottom right, and set it up according to this screenshot:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Open Poweramp, go to the EQ tab, set up Tone, Equalizer, and Preamp according to the screenshots below:
Note: You may need to adjust the Poweramp EQ and Preamp a bit according to your taste and headphone. Just for reference, my earphones are Nuforce NE6.
Let me know if this helps!
Disclaimer: This is in no way associated with supercurio's Voodoo, nor is it endorsed by him!
Had to tweak the PowerAMP EQ a bit, but damn this tweak is awesome!
Must try for everyone!
I must say Kalpik I was not impressed with the SGSII for audio. Maybe I will try this out

Sure! Do let me know what you think!
A few explanations about it.
This is basically an EQ, between an V and a "Smiley Face Curve" (Wikipedia article)
As you show it there are high gains so the the response is very far from flat in the end.
I guess its both suits your preference and acts as a correction for the very particular headphones you use.
As a result the benefit you experience for your own usage cannot be reproduced on other.
Many consumer headphone exaggerate high and lows already, so increasing once again high and low frequencies will produce a very fatiguing sound, lacking musicality.
I think its important to seperate frequency corrections (like this combination of graphic equalizers) and sound quality improvements.
EQ can help get a more balanced sound from flawed headphones (can also do the exact opposite) but that's very different form what's done in Voodoo sound that actually reduces distortions levels, improves clarity by configuring the hardware with more accuracy, reducing hiss by using optimal amp levels etc.
Cool if it helps your usage, however it might "degrade" the end result as much as it helps, depending on the headphones used.
Unfortunately sharing this settings will be useful listeners using the exact same headphones as yours, so I would suggest you to specify which they are.
So, what would be the case with default sgsii headphones?

Wonderful!! sounds amazing sound with amazing bass!!!
Like supercurio said this Is not improving sq it's just colouring the sound. This EQ may work for chart music but try listening to blues or classical the recessed mid will make the music unworthy of listening. The goal is to make sound as neutral (flat) as possible(how the artist intended) not colouring it. Please don't think SQ of sgs2 is utter garbage. It's just not as good as sgs.but for most of us its perfectly fine.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
And who cares if this doesn't 'improve SQ' like SuperCurio is saying? If Supercurio isn't keen on producing Voodoo Sound for SGS2, then sound colouring is the best we get right now...

Colouring the sound or not see me care, best sound i've ever heard on phone mp3 music
Pulling down the pre-amp and turning up the bass and mid freq gave me a warm sound (does remind me at tube amp sounds!)
and i'm also a musician, I listen/play more harder genres, this program really rocks with my current headset

Ah the man himself
You are absolutely correct about everything. Actually I was using this type of curve even with Voodoo, so yes, like I said in the first post (You may need to adjust the Poweramp EQ and Preamp a bit according to your taste and headphone.), EQ curves are very personal! Someone might not like the same curve even on the same set of earphones that I own (Nuforce NE6)!
Let me be clear to everyone, this is NOT a "Voodoo" solution. But for me, the sound signature is now very close to how I had Voodoo set up on SGS1. Of course its lacking the loudness and clarity, but at least I don't go in a corner and cry when I listen to music on my SGS2
Most had just settled with the SQ on their SGS2, this thread is just an attempt to get people playing with the EQ, and at least trying to get the sound they deserve from such an expensive handset! No harm done if it doesn't work
Hope everyone understands!
Also, let me remove the Voodoo reference from the thread title, so as to avoid any confusion!

Wow! I was really looking for an affordable headset with great sounds when i found my old Nokia N70 original headset in my storage! Beautiful sounds, awesome details, super bass experience! I can say this old headset of mine sounds like Beats. I heard how Dr. Dre delivers sounds and i can say, as a musician my old 'stuff' sounds perfectly awesome!
Just sharing
As title... which will you choose and why?
I really wouldn't get Beats anything, as there are cheaper alternatives which sound the same or better.
Personally I have the Pro version (don't like the fact that the studio need battery and modify the sound). They are a few cheaper alternatives but they are not as nice looking (my taste) and I got them 40% off so it was worth it
Pro: there the only beats headphones worth getting, only ones that are actually decent headphones and amazon sell them for £230 so worth it at that price
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Personally I don't believe the sound quality and limited storage space of the One X is worth any headphones over £80. You are simply wasting money as the the One X sound simply awful with high end audio device, also there is no way to bypass the onboard DAC and amp.
Actually I will sell my beat pro for another headphone, sennheiser suggested
If you want Beats, keep checking this site. There's none listed right now but there will be. It's at least 50% off, sometimes more.

Well this IS Monster Official Home Page so it is absolutely legit
Neither. I'll stick with my Shures.
That site is legit. It's their outlet store.
I personally have both beats tours and ultimate ears triple fi. The beats I just use like everyday headphones as they are enjoyable I guess you can say with the bass and surprisingly good mids and highs. Solid headphones really...got them at a good deal also. Triple fi are still better of course

I wouldn't post something that would leave you guys screwed. When they have Beats back in stock, also check here.

They sometimes have coupons for %'s off on top of the discounted price. You can search "beats" at the link below too to see if there are any outlet deals running. They just had one which is why there are none in stock.

Neither, "Beats" headphones are for troglodytes. They have around the same audio quality as a pair of crushed up drink cans with audio modules from two speaking birthday cards stuck onto them.

As said, neither. If you really want to use it up to its maximum potential, get AKG or even Audio Technica (I keep getting surprised by their value for money, most AT models have the same or better sound than 2-3 times pricier AKG models). Beats are REALLY lame in mid-range sounds, which is most important if you listen to anything other than Dubbstep.
I always find it funny how many people bash the Beats headphones, yet how many of you have actually had them to justify your choices, or just put off by the price tag instantly. I have a pair of Beats Solo HDs, used to have some iBeats, both sounded amazing when attached to my One X.
On their own (in the PC, or in my iPod) they sounded pretty generic and boring, but when attached to a HTC phone with BeatsAudio they are amazing. I've converted a few Apple-only guys over to getting a One X and some Beats just from that setting alone.

I work at an electronics store, I have all the models in display and try them alongside with many, many others - on an almost daily basis.
I'm not saying they're not good, I'm saying they're not better than sets with half the price-tag.

Thats fair enough then, I do find that without the Beats software they sound pretty much like every other head set available and you're mainly paying for the brand name. When it is paired with the software, they sound brilliant.

Thing is that the software makes all headsets sound good, but down-below, it's nothing more than a glorified equalizer.
If you want to get your mind blown, get hold of a Cowon player. ANY Cowon player. They're a gazillion times better (in audio quality) than anything else out there, and so when the weakest link is the headset, you tell the difference.
It also varies depending on musical style. Beats are heavy on bass and treble, but nothing in between. For the right kind of music with the right equalizer, it might sound amazing, but if you listen to something completely different - say, folk rock or classic or anything acoustic, you can tell they skimped on the mid-range in favor of the extreme highs and lows. Some people prefer that, though, so it's really just a matter of personal taste.
The bottom line though - and there are not enough words to describe how this irritates me...
Monster release absolutely ZERO technical specifications!
On ANYTHING! Beats? Nada. Clarity? Zilch. Impedance, Frequency Range, power consumption - nothing!
It makes me really suspicious of the whole thing and makes me feel like they don't publish the specs so they could put a higher price-tag on it and people would have a harder time comparing it objectively (Apple used to take the same approach, and I dislike them for reasons not very different than Monster...)
I am not an audiophile but i have the beats wireless for my one x. I listen to all kinds of music and I think they are great. Now I would not pay full price for them $280 ish. But I got them for 50% off so I went that route. I like the sound.

Okay so i was looking for in ear earphones for my sgy and my mind was set up for the soundmagic ES 18... I read a lot of reviews and realised that one can't get better earphones than these...But sadly, as god as always hated me, these earphones were completely sold out from the whole online market , just when i wanted to buy them
I searched like crazy for them and luckily found and trusted an unknown shop for them
Now its been a few weeks and im still in love with these
This is not an advertisement lol but i just wanted to share it with you guys...i recommend these to anyone under a budget of rs 1000
When i bought these, they were on clearance sale, so i got them for Rs 469..but now, since they are one of the only dealers left, price has been increased to rs 525..but even now this is the best deal one can get
Also, as we all know the bcm chipset for our sgy sucks, you wont get 100% of any good headphones, so try using megabass v4 mod
Cheers!
Sorry if i have voilated any rules..

you cant just compare these with the stock ones
if you have a phone with good soc unlike sgy or a pc with good soundcard, unlike my intel 945g series , you will get the true potential of any good earphones
in sgy , any earphones wprk 40-60% of their own potential..to enhance it, we need high level of precise equalizing ..i recommend stock player and megabassv4 for this purpose
If you are a bollywood songs listener (unlike me), you qre gonna love es18
these headphones are best in lows and mids...and highs can be aceived using megabassv4
in short, how are they different from stock ones?!
1)Better sound isolation, infact high sound isolation...as we get 3 pairs of ear buds with these(s,m,l)
2) masters of mids and lows by default
3)HIGH Bass...your ears will vibrate haha
4) Awesome clarity..
5)Surround sound works pretty well
I have been using stock earphones and i equalized the hell out of it...im like an equalizing expert and i got very good results with those, but these are some real s*it... if you arent a rich audiophile then you must have it
Im not very good with reviewing ...Read some reviews and you'll know what im talking about
Ps: if you intend to use it only in sgy then you must have a lot of patience
if you have a better phone with good soc or plan to buy a new phone,then go for these
well thats enough for me..
i will surely by them if by chance i ever get a new phone..
chances are almost neglegible..

cool
but i dont think these would be available for long..lets see

Rooting doesn't improve audio basically, but yeah one may say that
I use modded dsp manager and its better than any equalizer app available on the internet

Rooting itself dosnt make any audio improvement.. but installing suitable drivers like 'beats' or 'megabass' in sgy wil improve the audio quality. Using good equilizerz like dsp manager or beats manager also will improve sound.
