How do I make my reboot screen read the proper model again? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So, I flashed a kernel that caused my reboot display to show the GT-I9100 instead of SPH-D710. And there is a yellow sign with "!".
Do I need to run the original one click odin file?
Oh btw, I'm rooted FF18 update. I prefer the agat recovery in lieu of cwm.

use triangle away. Free in the forum but 1.99 in the market. Resets binary counter. Flashing custom kernels brings up the triangle. Only works on ICS but since your on ICS it will work for you.

Credits
Don't forget to thank koush for his awesome work on ClockworkMod / ROMManager.
Another thanks to chris41g for helping out with the recovery.fstab and various time spent on looking through my code.
How is this different from what codeworkx posted?
The recovery.fstab of this kernel will successfully mount the SD card as well as the internal storage, the recovery.fstab in his kernel doesn't (it's cloned from the SGSII international).
The recovery.rc in this kernel makes a directory for emmc (internal storage) to mount to, his does not.
Changelog
SPH-D710_ClockworkMod_Recovery_5.0.2.6.tar
-This is the latest version of ClockworkMod recovery compiled fresh from the Cyanogenmod gingerbread repo.
SPH-D710_ClockworkMod_Recovery_5.0.2.3.tar
-This is ClockworkMod Recovery v 5.0.2.3 compiled from the Cyanogenmod gingerbread repo.
-Internal and external (SD) both mount in recovery.
Bugs
-mounting usb storage might take a little bit longer than expected, that is because it is mounting both the internal storage and the sdcard to your computer.

I'm gonna flash this. Very nice work... Did you by chance add support for custom boot animation?
Thanks alot bubby for all your awesome work.

So does this leave the existing kernel in place? So you can have a stock kernel and CWM recovery?
Thanks!

Can't boot cwm? Helpp

Hi for some reason I can not boot into cwm unless I use mobile Odin and flash el26 kernal if I try volume up and power it brings me to the recovery with the android guy and its like yellow and blue lettering if someone can help ty

Have no idea what you are trying to do. Flash kernel, flash ROM, flash Modem, create backup etc....
The stock E4GT does NOT come with CWM. If you want CWM on the stock ROM you can use EL26 or the EL29 (Rogue too) CWMs.
These can be installed via Mobile Odin or sfhub's Autoroot package.
I suggest you do some really serious reading and then do some more reading about how to mod this phone. Otherwise you will end up with an expensive paperweight.
Best and safest place to start is sfhubs EL29 stock rooted, then use his autoroot package to add EL29+CWM+Rogue recovery.
Also don't user ROM Manager OR a 'touch' recovery - you will brick your phone.
Again please read extensively before you brick your phone.
I have root I'm running aokp I have flashed many roms and what not but I just can't boot into recovery (cwm) without using Odin and flashing kernal first then I can
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium App
You have to use odin, mobile odin to flash kernels. In odin you have to hold power and volume down first then volume up to get into download mode.
I know how to get into cwm while using Odin never used mobile Odin but like if I shut my phone off and try to boot into cwm I can't
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium App
I guess I'm not understanding you completely. Your definitely booting into stock recovery. How exactly are you flashing the el26 kernel?
Send me a pm and I'll explain more to ya if you thank you
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium App
AOKP and other ICS ROms typically do not include a custom recovery due to the high risk of bricks. That is why you are unable to get back to cwm. Read the OP of the AOKP thread carefully or you will have an expensive paperweight. On AOKP, you have to Odin EL29 with cwm in order to use recovery safely, then flash an AOSP kernel before rebooting to Android.
As stated... if you flashed an ICS ROM/kernel from a GB CWM setup then CWM won't be there. If you're sure it's still installed and just can't get to it then try downloading "QuickBoot" from the market (it's free) and try the "recovery" option.. maybe that'll work.
Even if you're on an ICS ROM and try to get to CWM you should still get to a stock recovery....

Kernal Flash help!

I'm so sorry to bother you and thank you in advance for your taking the time to read this. I flashed the EL29 kernel for my epic 4g touch through ODIN. After it exited download mode, the splash screen now says that samsung gt-19100 with a yellow triangle. Is there a fix for that?
You can get rid of the triangle with the triangle away app from the app store, or by getting a usb jig. Rwilco's awesome website gives the step by step process.

I can't even get boot. I just now got into recovery. It installed Rogue ET recovery, so I'm gonna see if backing up my rom will work. Thanks!
Update
Was able to get back into the phone after flashing in a rom, but splash screen still says gt-19100.
You'll have to buy a USB jig or update to ICS and just use triangle away.

Yep, triangle away only works if you on ICS. The triangle is samsung's way to show an unofficial kernel was flashed to the phone.

Triangle away only works on ICS.
If you can't/don't want to switch to ICS, then you will probably have to make/buy a jig (I just searched Amazon for phone jig and found like 10)
After you get rid of the yellow triangle, either triangle away on ICS or Jig. Flash kernels via mobile odin. It won't mess with the binary counter.
(no yellow triangle afterwards)
Yea i got it. Just did a one click restore back to el29 root and did the basics got back to cwm and restored now im back and running with out the triangle. Thanks for the input homie

[How To]Root Sprint GB27 Jellybean

Now that we have the latest official release for the new TouchWiz GB27 4.1.2, I figured I would update this thread for those that have downloaded the update from FL24 to GB27 via Kies.
This guide was written for Sprint devices however the procedure is the same for Boost and Virgin variants of the Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch. The only difference is the kernel you flash after rooting.
You WILL need to use a PC in order to gain root access
DISCLAIMER
DO NOT USE AGAT RECOVERY TO FLASH ANY AOSP ROM. THERE HAVE BEEN CASES OF HARD BRICKS.
I WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING THAT YOU CHOOSE TO DO WITH YOUR DEVICE. THESE METHODS HAVE BEEN TESTED AND ARE PROVEN TO WORK. FAILURE TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS MAY GIVE YOU UNEXPECTED RESULTS.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
How to root with SuperSU
You will need...
Odin3_v3.04
Source built Jelly Bean kernel
SuperSU-v0.97
Stock GB27 kernel zip - optional
SuperSU from the Play Store
1. Using a Windows XP or greater based computer, download and extract Odin to a directory which you are comfortable using. You can extract to your desktop if you want. I personally use my documents folder.
2. Power off then press and hold volume down and power to enter download mode, plug in your USB cable after opening Odin. Click on PDA to select and flash the source built kernel.
3. Download this file and reboot to recovery by pressing and holding volume up and power then flash SuperSU-v0.97.zip
4. After flashing the SuperSU zip, flash the GB27 stock kernel and reboot. This is now optional, the source built kernel works perfectly and can be used as a DD.
5. Download SuperSU from the Play Store.
6. Open the SuperSU app and update the binary.
This method WILL trigger the yellow triangle and increase your flash counter by 1 count.

How to root with Superuser and busybox - similar to garwynn's one click
You will need...
Odin3_v3.04
Source built Jelly Bean kernel
subusybox
Stock GB27 kernel zip - optional

2. Power off then press and hold volume down and power to enter download mode, plug in your USB cable after opening Odin. Click on PDA to select and flash the source built kernel.
3. Flash the subusybox zip in recovery
4. Flash the stock GB27 kernel in recovery and reboot. This is now optional, the source built kernel works perfectly and can be used as a DD.
This method WILL trigger the yellow triangle and increase your flash counter by 1 count.

One-Click Method
You will need...
GB27 Rooted Nodata
1. Download the Rooted Nodata from the link above.
2. Using a Windows XP or greater computer, open the One-Click package.
3. Power down your phone and then press and hold volume down + power to enter download mode. Plug in your USB cable.
4. Click start.
This method WILL NOT trigger the yellow triangle or increase your flash counter.
You now have root access. Congratulations.
Do you have an ugly yellow triangle after performing one of the first two methods? Do you want to get rid of that and reset your flash counter back to 0?
Chainfire has an app for that!

If I had the know how, I'd try making a repack. And as far as I know, agat was startinghis computer from scratch due to issues building from source.
If there isn't anything by next week, I'll ask for some help on making repacks.
