[Q]Disable charging when plugged in - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I bought a mhl cable for HDMI out.
But the device has to be powered...
And it charges the phone at the same time...
And I use it to play games....
The battery is constantly charging and discharging and it gets really hot...
I guess its also bad for the battery
So anyway to disable charging?
Thanks

AC to DC/USB/MicroUSB adapters are all compatible with the same devices.
Only thing you would notice is the charging rate might be slightly different from one adapter to another.
So yes, you can.

Thanks for your reply.
Do you think using galaxy tab 10.1 charger is faster than the nexus charger in terms of charging time?
Check the amperage on both chargers. The higher one will charge faster.
bow chicka wow wow.

If it is 1 amp it should be fine!
If more, the phone should somehow limit it but you never know.

In my experience, using a tablet charger with a cell phone charged the battery faster than the cell phone charger, but the battery also discharged a lot faster. Your mileage may vary.

[SOLVED] Charging problem

I have read somewhere that when you charge your phone and you use it that it still should charge.. But when I use my phone while charging it discharges and pretty quickly too.. Is this caused by a bad battery or is my charger broken?

If it takes too long to get a full charge when using the power socket you might want to try to check your battery.

Are you using the original charger and cable? I thought I'd read somewhere that not all USB cables can handle the 2 amp current. I'm not sure how accurate this is.
Original charger? The original charger can provide 1.0A, check what's written on your charger. USB cable could also be the problem. Other tips is to lower the brightness, it will save battery.

I had this problem couple of months back. Changed the charger and that fixed the issue. Try changing the cable or the charger itself.

Thanks I got it figured.. I had an USB extension cable because the orginal cable is kinda short. But apparantly the extension cable couldnt handle the amps

Battery charger

So I've had a wall charger for years with my gn. But I'm moving on to an s4. Does anyone know if there would be an issue using the same charger for s4 batteries?

I don't mean the charger, as in the usb cable. I mean a separate wall unit that you slide a battery into, charging the battery away from the phone.

Oh that think lol ok
That does not sound like a good idea, the volts and amps could be different and it may in fact damage your battery.

Even when is the battery on 90%?
Did you tried it or youre just guessing?
Mine does it all the time, even when at over 90%
Yeah mine does it all the time as well
I'm not guessing, mine hardly goes under 75%

I think I've noticed it not charging rapidly (i.e. lock screen only says "charging") sometimes when I'd been actively using the phone while plugged in.

It's also controlled by how hot the battery is. If battery is hot to a certain degree, phone will simply charger slower.
